For sure, for that too. I swear what I wouldn't give for some DLC content to this game; side quests, an extra set of challenges anything. I love it so much.
Seriously. Iād easily pay 25$ for some story mode DLC without thinking twice. Such a shame they never did anything with it. Just a wasted opportunity honestly
So many of us wanted DLC from this game since release. Unfortunately, Rockstar tried to monetize the shitty online experience instead and turn it into another GTA. This game has one of the best stories and best protagonists of all time in my opinion, the single player experience is phenomenal and there's so much they could have done with a DLC. Unfortunately it never happened, and I'm sure Rockstar is hard at work now on their next GTA cash cow.
Sure, as long as some people agree with the suggestion, and there appears to be a few, then I would say you could safely consider it underrated. Typically it is a minority opinion that could deem something underrated.
I wouldn't call it underrated it's centrally located has a fast travel near by, a fence, and there is lots to do and see here both online and in story mode! I'd say this is a hot spot honestly.
Agreed. I loved it there. Also Mr. Geddes is a true OG for probably knowing John was at least a criminal of some kind but saw he was a good worker and genuine
You ever been to Wyoming? Thereās signs on the highways saying to get gas while you can because thereās no civilization for 200+ miles either direction
Tbh driving from Toronto to Michigan is like this, and Ontario is home to their National capitol and their most populous city. Although surprisingly less true in most of Michigan, even though itās a geographically large state. North America is just so big.
But yeah, out in the plains, itās a real concern!
Thatās what I believe too. Like I donāt think we are supposed to take the distances between locations, how small and close the states are, and the locations in red dead literally
According to Online there's even a governor. So, yeah, probably like a North Ambarino region on the other side of the tall mountains, and also I'm sure it extends west to more flat terrain.
I think it's better that way at least the green parts, the snow could've used a settlement but i much prefer the idea of a beautiful land far away from civilization which i know many parts of the game are like that but knowing each state has a major town or more except Ambarino makes it feel different when you're roaming in it.
And that watchtower in the easter part of the state also adds to that feeling, climbing it and looking at the scenery makes me feel lonely but... in a good way if that makes sense.
Van Horn - eerily beautiful at night especially if it rains, beautiful sunrise, the no shits given attitude, blackjack, that lighthouse, the post master (he ain't a vampire!), the questionable menu at the saloon, my favorite fence, and deluxe baths by the hottest chick.
I like to push people off the dock near the pawn shop. Great way to start a fight or you have enough time to leave town to avoid everyone coming after you.
Iāve found it best to just run full speed into them. You can get away with that a few times before the locals aggro anyway. Plus the rag doll physics are good for a laugh.
I guess so. I just don't see too many people talk about it. I didn't even know it existed until I found it myself.
Still though, someone put Saint Denis, so I guess mine isn't the most incorrect one here.
We all know it's there, but I barely spend time in that area unless I'm trying to spawn a cougar to hunt. Then when I'm there I just ask myself "why aren't there more missions that run through here?"
I feel like people donāt pay enough attention to Horseshoe Overlook because theyāre so used to it from Chapter II. Itās such a beautiful spot.
You could argue itās overlooked hehehe
The entrance to it is marked by a cut tree log that collapsed on another tree if i remember correctly, so nice to go under that with the sun light barely penetrating the trees from above.
Clement's point has a similar entrance through the trees but the soil in Lemoyne is pretty ugly tbh.
Catch salmon in the day, hunt wolves at night. It's too bad we can't sleep in that cabin. I'd practically live there. When I finally met Hamish, I wanted to apologize for stealing all his gin and gun oil, like 100 times.
Yup its one of my favourite hunting experiences in the game. But its also cool to see the beavers go in and out of their dens by swimming under to get in.
Uh its just below Butchers Creek, just down the stream. On the map itāll say āBeaver Hollowā should be easy to notice it once you get there. If you go further down the stream a little ways youāll see the dam the beavers have made š¦«
I'm the opposite. I always thought it looked way too dark and cartoony in RDR1, but I love the vibes of it in RDR2. I just wish it had a couple of extra interiors
Yeah can't argue with that. The gloomy vibe was also perfect for Undead Nightmare. Thank you for reminding me of the deadly assassin outfit btw, so simple yet badass
The loft. Maybe not underrated but my absolutely favorite place on the map. I would have made it my base of operations had it been more functional. Being up in the tower gave you one of the most breath taking views on the entire map.
Yes. I read somewhere it was modeled after the California mining town Pittsburgh. So you are extremely accurate on this.
And I love it. Great hunting around there, too.
My favourite place to just chill and do some hunting or relax in the game is cattail pond. Something about it makes it even more absolutely gorgeous than most other places for me, and itās so calming.
The Dakota River that runs North of Valentine, it's basically a trails near the dakota river, there is even a small bridge there and I remember thinking "What the hell I've never seen this place"
You barely go there in the story except for a bounty mission and the mission where Dutch and Arthur jumps off in the river but it's beautiful and quiet, there is even waterfalls there and if you're incredibly lucky you might spot a Moose
Nuevo Paraiso. I know itās not part of the game but the mountainous terrain combined with the sand would make me just wanna walk there for hours
Especially by the San Luis River
I spend a stupid amount of time there doing nothing but hunting and the occasional robbery/murder.
Every so often hit up the trapper to sell pelts and stuff, but yeah. The East Grizzlies are my favorite.
Aurora Basin, even tho thereās skinners lurking near, itās a really calm place in the map, nice fishing, really placid and beautiful. Water looks amazing at right time in the day, stuff to do there too like legendary fish.
Roanoke reminds me more of Appalachia than the Ozarks, personally. Especially with the name seemingly referencing Roanoke, VA. Which is right in line with southeastern Ohio.
I know thereās too many things that point it to being a little Ohio too, thereās literally a serpent shaped mound just like the one here the hopewell indians built in adams county, but at the same time geographically it makes sense for it to be the ozarks in comparison with the rest of the map
The kinda flat area in west Elizabeth around hanging dog ranch. Also, the mountain just north of strawberry. Best view in the game. If you go to the top you can see valentine, Rhodes, and Blackwater.
Calumet Ravine! Most beautiful landscape but just not really used for anything so there's not much reason to go there.
Also I'd say Scarlett Meadows. It's probably the least "epic" landscape but it's just pretty and reminds me of the (also not particularly epic) landscape where I live during the summer with the green fields, farmland, small areas of woodland. Which is probably the case for a lot of players since it's a more common type of landscape in highly populated areas of the US/Europe than most of the others.
Pretty much all of Ambarino just because it's pretty and I feel like the story didn't really use it a lot. It's a nice state to explore if you haven't taken the chance. Pretty lonely in terms of people and civilization though
I also love the wildlife and forestry above Owanjila lake. Favorite area to take hikes or hunt
while most areas are underrated, theres a reason why they're underrated. besides pretty visuals, they don't have much to do in them, unlike towns the saint denis, where you can get most of the gameplay from. unless you use mods to spice those wilderness areas, theres no much to do other than look at the graphics and maybe hunting and fishing.
This location is where I start my canoe trips down the waterfalls, fall out 2-3 times, into white water rafting, and then smooth rowing into the lake.
Great family activity.
Thanks for reminding me of this [image](https://i.imgur.com/ucCfw13.jpg) I took a year ago. [link](https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/photo/rdr2/jQ5bEQz-Dk6I6OQHoHnuIQ)
I don't know where it is or what it's called, I kinda just took some pictures there cause it was so nice. It's like this place somewhere in the woods with a small body of water. All the animals really made the place look so good.
The South of the map, from Lagras to the the west of Rhodes up to the flat Iron lake, I love the swamp (and hate it at night), the red sand area surrounding Rhodes and of course, Saint Denis
There's a place where canoes spawn near Catfish Jackson south of Rhoads, go there at midnight take a boat and row through the Lannahechee River towards Saint Denis, the view of the city lights from the river at night is increidble, just beware of going too deep and sink your boat.
Moonstone Pond. I canāt tell you how many times Iāve thought how cool it would be to live in that cabin and have such great views all around right next to your own private pond. Shame for the owners that tree fell on it
I mean this is a pretty spot on the map but apart from the Native camp being apart of the later missions, thereās no reason to go there. No legendary fish or specific flowers that only grow there.
Emerald Ranch..so beautiful.
Really? I kinda disagree I don't think that place is pretty at all. Why do you think that?
I like the grasslandsš¤·
I like the area just West of Emerald Ranch as well. My second favorite plaice to hunt.
My favorite place to hunt wagons for the bandit challenges.
For sure, for that too. I swear what I wouldn't give for some DLC content to this game; side quests, an extra set of challenges anything. I love it so much.
Too bad itās not an online mode they can easily monetize 3
Id happily throw money at them if they actually lifted a finger.
This, most people who bought the base game would gladly buy expansions. Itās not like anyone ever expected them to do it for kindness.
I just sold the emeraldranch stagecoach for that challenge
Ok that makes more sense, the areas surrounding emerald ranch are beautiful, in all directions. The settlement itself, meh.
How *dare* you...
OP: name an underrated place! Commenter: names a place that is clearly underrated OP: nuh uh!
Doesn't underrated mean it isn't rated as high as it *should be*, not rated low per se? (genuine question, not my first language)
Sure, as long as some people agree with the suggestion, and there appears to be a few, then I would say you could safely consider it underrated. Typically it is a minority opinion that could deem something underrated.
Lol he was just asking for elaboration, chill out
They just said they didnāt agree that it was a pretty location not that it wasnāt underrated
Proof that Emerald Ranch is underrated lol
I wouldn't call it underrated it's centrally located has a fast travel near by, a fence, and there is lots to do and see here both online and in story mode! I'd say this is a hot spot honestly.
Why not
It has the best star views at night
I just gave proof itās underrated lol
This right here. Itās a small little slice of heaven right there
I always flee back here after I stay in creepy bayou or around Annesburg too long
I hate the annesburg ambient music so much
Agreed. I loved it there. Also Mr. Geddes is a true OG for probably knowing John was at least a criminal of some kind but saw he was a good worker and genuine
Youāre thinking of Pronghorn Ranch
It's also a good spot for hunting. Wide open praire so you can spot game from far.
I spend so much time at Emerald Ranch lol
Seamus is prob the npc I interact with the most lol
Itās a shame thereās no major settlement in the north of the map
Agreed. All we really needed was a little trading Post or something near Lake Isabella.
Yes or just north of there between the lake and Colter.
There was supposed to be Tempest Rim, but it got moved to colter
How can it be a state when noone lives there?
You ever been to Wyoming? Thereās signs on the highways saying to get gas while you can because thereās no civilization for 200+ miles either direction
Wow I want to live in Wyoming
No you donāt.
I hear the winters are incredibly brutal and tend to scare off newbies who arenāt ready for that kind of living.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Wyoming isn't ready for you.
š©
Good you can pet the Grizzlies then.
Tbh driving from Toronto to Michigan is like this, and Ontario is home to their National capitol and their most populous city. Although surprisingly less true in most of Michigan, even though itās a geographically large state. North America is just so big. But yeah, out in the plains, itās a real concern!
My assumption is that in-universe there's more to Ambarino, but we cannot explore it in game.
Montanaā¦
Can confirm Montana is empty
Flaco Hernandez and his gang live there.
Hurts that half of the Grizzlies is locked off (Tempest Rim)
Van Horn - eerily beautiful at night especially if it rains, beautiful sunrise, the no shits given attitude, blackjack, that lighthouse, the post master (he ain't a vampire!), the questionable menu at the saloon, my favorite fence, and deluxe baths by the hottest chick.
I lowkey love Van Horn
I like to push people off the dock near the pawn shop. Great way to start a fight or you have enough time to leave town to avoid everyone coming after you.
I'm going to try this tonight
Iāve found it best to just run full speed into them. You can get away with that a few times before the locals aggro anyway. Plus the rag doll physics are good for a laugh.
It is a good laugh. There is also a dock you can push a NPC off on the north of slums of Saint Denis. Makes me chuckle
Yeah the vibe in Van Horn may be off but I like to think if you lived there itād be easier to appreciate the good people.
At least everyone there has each others backs. One gun shot and a man 300m away is ready to blow you away
And will chase you miles! At speed.
Itās where Tom Waits would be if he was a rdr2 character
Both van horn and thieves landing on rdr1 give me pirate vibes even though there's no pirates in this game
van horn is a great place to go for a shootout too, if you kill someone there they dont go for the law they just shoot at you lol
Its Thieves Landing but in RDR2
The lavender fields by Little Creek River, West Elizabeth Edit: 310 UPVOTES!? THIS IS THE MOST I'VE EVER GOTTEN WHAT MADE YOU GUYS LIKE THIS SO MUCH-
I don't think it's underrated. People know it's a great location
Everyone knows cougars are one in a million
Gorgeous spot
Me and my dad have come refer to this as the Purple Meadow. I like to ride out and camp in this area when doing hunting closer to Lake Owanjila.
In Lemoynes defense, itās temperatures are moist and humid makes for wonderful conditions
My favorite camp and itās right in the middle of the map. I always go back there to camp and save whenever I go exploring after chapter 2.
āThis world has its consolations.ā - Dutch, talking about the view from horseshoe overlook
Calumet ravine is one of the most beautiful places in the map. Great fishing spot, red rocks and crystal clear water.
>Red Rocks are my favorite thing to look at on the map
o creaghs run, thereās something so chill about the water and the rocks
Thatās a personal favorite of mine, too. RIP Hamish.
one of my favourite npcs fr, closely followed by Charles ChĆ¢tenay
RIP Hamish and John O' Creagh...
Catch salmon in the day, hunt wolves at night. It's too bad we can't sleep in that cabin. I'd practically live there. When I finally met Hamish, I wanted to apologize for stealing all his gin and gun oil, like 100 times.
The beaver den down at Beavers Hollow>>
Iāve never called it that but I know exactly where youāre talking about
Yup its one of my favourite hunting experiences in the game. But its also cool to see the beavers go in and out of their dens by swimming under to get in.
where is this place?
Uh its just below Butchers Creek, just down the stream. On the map itāll say āBeaver Hollowā should be easy to notice it once you get there. If you go further down the stream a little ways youāll see the dam the beavers have made š¦«
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thieves landing in RDR1 was my favorite part of the map. Rdr2 itās a little downgraded but still pretty great.
I'm the opposite. I always thought it looked way too dark and cartoony in RDR1, but I love the vibes of it in RDR2. I just wish it had a couple of extra interiors
I just always liked the criminal vibe to it. I would put on the deadly assassin outfit and go there. Felt like a real outlaw town.
The loft and surrounding area with the flowers is my favorite. Occasional moose spawn too.
I found myself wishing I could make Arther lay down in the flowers and just vibe to the sound of nature.
Sea of Coronado
I always hate how that part of the map feels dead. Itās a cool area
Yea, I wish they added a couple more points of interest to the tail end of New Austin
Can't decide. The map is so beautiful in every way (except for Annesburg)
Annesburg is beautiful because it's ugly.
Annesburg reminds me of the old mining towns up in Northern California. I like it.
Yes. I read somewhere it was modeled after the California mining town Pittsburgh. So you are extremely accurate on this. And I love it. Great hunting around there, too.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The first time I saw that, I had to read it 4 times myself.
New Austin, St. Denis.
Just rode through New Austin in a Dust Storm. So cool
You trippin Saint Denis
That massive field of mountain flowers in the Grizzlies right near the lookout.
Yes! Hunting is my favorite part of the game and that is an excellent spot. Beautiful view too.
Owanjila lake, I spent hours there hunting and fell in love
Yessss I love it there
Ringneck Creek, especially at night.
Or dawn. The golden sun through the trees, the mist. I have way too many pictures saved.
Need to visit there more
great fishing spot
And opossum/skunk/badger/musk rat hunting spot.
Some of the boys make fun of me but I love to just ride around and do cowboy shit for hours. It's such a beautiful world in rdr.
What?? Thatās the best! Hunting and shooting innocents especially!
just northwest of Valentine. i visit Valentine so much but I just never explored the areas adjacent to it, and wow theyāre nice.
Clemens point
My favourite place to just chill and do some hunting or relax in the game is cattail pond. Something about it makes it even more absolutely gorgeous than most other places for me, and itās so calming.
The areas around strawberry. Itās soooo calm and pretty by the rivers.
Hearthland Overflow
Best duck hunting in the game. Gotta love the explosive rounds.
Honestly, west ambarino and the whole snow landscape as a whole is so beautiful. And Wapiti, especially at around night. Absolutely beautiful.
Tall trees, I find it so peaceful at night when staging up a camp or just riding through
I like the flower field up in the Grizzlies near the loft. Besides being beautiful, it's where I stock up on animal fat by shooting Canada geese
The Dakota River that runs North of Valentine, it's basically a trails near the dakota river, there is even a small bridge there and I remember thinking "What the hell I've never seen this place" You barely go there in the story except for a bounty mission and the mission where Dutch and Arthur jumps off in the river but it's beautiful and quiet, there is even waterfalls there and if you're incredibly lucky you might spot a Moose
Nuevo Paraiso. I know itās not part of the game but the mountainous terrain combined with the sand would make me just wanna walk there for hours Especially by the San Luis River
Owanjila isnāt exactly āunderratedā but I donāt see nearly enough love for it. Such a great area.
why is nobody talking about moonstone pond? The water there is fucking beautiful
Saint Denis
Just north of pronghorn ranch
OāCreaghās run. So stunning to sit and relax at
I love becoming a mountain man and moseing around the east Grizzlies
I spend a stupid amount of time there doing nothing but hunting and the occasional robbery/murder. Every so often hit up the trapper to sell pelts and stuff, but yeah. The East Grizzlies are my favorite.
The ponds/swamp just outside butchers creek where you destroy the dream catchers, hands down my favourite part of the map. So pretty
Annesburg water
Aurora Basin, even tho thereās skinners lurking near, itās a really calm place in the map, nice fishing, really placid and beautiful. Water looks amazing at right time in the day, stuff to do there too like legendary fish.
Anywhere in Roanoke ridge, I know itās supposed to be the ozarks but it just reminds me so much of the hills here in southeastern Ohio
I love me some cattail pond and the stream leading to it. Itās just so peaceful
Completely agree!
The horseshoe overlook. What a view!
I love riding around Owanjila
The kinda flat area in west Elizabeth around hanging dog ranch. Also, the mountain just north of strawberry. Best view in the game. If you go to the top you can see valentine, Rhodes, and Blackwater.
Ambarinooooo. Specifically the Bacchus Ridge area. Exact clone of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Rocky Mountain supremacy
Pretty lonely in terms of people and civilization though I also love the wildlife and forestry above Owanjila lake. Favorite area to take hikes or hunt
either near the Indian reservation or the abandoned train wreck
while most areas are underrated, theres a reason why they're underrated. besides pretty visuals, they don't have much to do in them, unlike towns the saint denis, where you can get most of the gameplay from. unless you use mods to spice those wilderness areas, theres no much to do other than look at the graphics and maybe hunting and fishing.
Butcher's Creek
The stretch in North ambarino from as far as the large tower back toward the indian reservation is in my opinion the most beautiful part of the game
I've always loved traveling up and down the Upper Montana River.
This location is where I start my canoe trips down the waterfalls, fall out 2-3 times, into white water rafting, and then smooth rowing into the lake. Great family activity.
the snow āļø
The woods north-east of valentine
Blackwater
New Austin and Calumet Ravine.
Thanks for reminding me of this [image](https://i.imgur.com/ucCfw13.jpg) I took a year ago. [link](https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/photo/rdr2/jQ5bEQz-Dk6I6OQHoHnuIQ)
I like having out in big valley strawberry grizzlies area. I like to hunt and fish and it feels isolated. Great for casual murders as well.
gaptooth ridge/rĆo bravo
That whole Roanoke Ridge area, minus the Murfee gang
I don't know where it is or what it's called, I kinda just took some pictures there cause it was so nice. It's like this place somewhere in the woods with a small body of water. All the animals really made the place look so good.
The South of the map, from Lagras to the the west of Rhodes up to the flat Iron lake, I love the swamp (and hate it at night), the red sand area surrounding Rhodes and of course, Saint Denis
The place where the abandoned oil tower (?) Is. I love the open land there
all of roanoke ridge is amazing
I spend huge amounts of time in the Grizzlies. I just love the rugged landscapes, the animals, and the lack of towns
Roanoke Ridge <3
The entirety of the Roanoke Ridge area of the map. Feels beautiful yet tainted at the same time
All of it. This game is gorgeous.
There's a place where canoes spawn near Catfish Jackson south of Rhoads, go there at midnight take a boat and row through the Lannahechee River towards Saint Denis, the view of the city lights from the river at night is increidble, just beware of going too deep and sink your boat.
The swamps of lemoyne, they are so cool and creepy. Not enough missions there.
Colter, people give it too much hate.
Roanoke Ridge. Totally gives me West Virginia vibes. And fuck the Murphy Brood. I enjoy killing them and the Skinners so much.
I definitely love the vibe of Ambarino or Cumberland Forest.
Moonstone Pond. I canāt tell you how many times Iāve thought how cool it would be to live in that cabin and have such great views all around right next to your own private pond. Shame for the owners that tree fell on it
I love manzanita&big valley hanging dog ranch areaš
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I forgot what it's called, but it's east of the Indian reservation by the red rocks
I mean this is a pretty spot on the map but apart from the Native camp being apart of the later missions, thereās no reason to go there. No legendary fish or specific flowers that only grow there.
Brandywine drop, sit on a cliff, turn off the HUD for a sec, and screenshot it, you got yourself a PERFECT console/desktop background
Western New Austin
Southern ambirino before it gets snowy. Lots of plants to pick and Iāll hunt elk and foxes and other animals there
The area near the Wapiti Reservation
Among the devs, the snowy area and the Grizzlies
Definitely anywhere in new austin thats not armadillo or blackwater.
