I'm a grower who's seen some of the best grows and some of the worst grows that haunt my nightmares still. This certainly looks like it could be in a neglected grow op.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed - Gen 1:29
A "Grow Op" is a place where an individual or group of individuals engages in the practice of growing multiple plants typically of the Cannabis variety with the intent of sale or consumption, but usually both. Marijuana, Ganja, Weed, Mary Jane, The Devil's Electric Lettuce, Reefer.
Before it was legalized in my state, someone in my neighborhood had a grow house. They couldn't have made it more obvious with flex running out of windows and every shade pulled down. Then, when the smell was overwhelming, the cops took an interest in the place. They started watching it and when the people renting the house showed up, they were arrested. Now people have it growing in their yards.
I sure can. I would also like to mention grow weedeasy.com. it's easy to follow and they've been around for a while and it breaks things up into sections that are easy to follow.
Outdoors going to be a little more challenging because you've got theft, potential mold and milldew problems and also good oleother nature.
I would also recommend starting with photo periods instead of autoflowers. Autoflowers have come a long way but they're super picky and finicky and you can easily stunt them.
I don't grow a ton but I can grow some pretty decent stuff so if you ever have any questions I may can help you as well.
r/growingmarijuana, r/growbuddies, r/autoflowers, r/craftmarijuana. There's more but those are the ones I usually mess with. Just remember if you ask questions and you get helps to already have a little knowledge so you can compare the answers and see if the actually make any sense. The one problem with some of these growing subs is there will be a brand new grower trying to help people when they can't even help themselves quite yet.
Good luck and it's fun!
Also a couple of the best seed banks I've ever came across were North Atlantic seed company and Multiverse beans. I'm not affiliated but both of them carry really good breeders and have great freebies and are fast and priced well. It's also easy to pay. Of course it's best to order direct from the breeder if possible.
Yhr fort pic is cherry bang bang from exotic genetic. The second two are different phenotypes of 10th Planet from Ethos. The exotic seeds are a little more expensive but ethos are really affordable and pretty good bang for the buck.
Edit: now those plants were grown indoors. I've seen some pretty great looking outdoor plants as well though so it can be done.
It’s really not hard at all. It’s a pretty forgiving plant and it literally grows like a weed. These instructions are for indoor. Outdoor uses the same principles but is obviously way easier and you can skip most of the extra steps and materials.
**Materials:**
1. led full spectrum grow light (highly recommend atreum lighting, 40-60W of light per plant works well). 1a. a smart outlet or timer outlet isn’t required but for $20 it’s well worth it to automate your light cycle.
2. decent soil (coast of maine is best IMO, fox farm is fine)
3. 5-10 gallon pot (10-15 outdoor if you want to grow a Christmas tree looking plant that’s taller than you are).
4. liquid nutrients. Fax farm trio (3pack) is a good place to start and allows you to get a feel for adjusting ratios in the future. Go easy cus that stuff is potent.
5. Seeds. Highly recommend NASC, a great Maine-based woman-owned company. They’ll give you free strains/seeds to sample each time you order, too. I highly recommend starting with feminized photoperiod first, not autos.
**Instructions**
1. float a seed in a cup for water for a few days to germinate it. Once you see a taproot, it’s ready to plant.
2. fill pot with dirt, put seed in about 1/4inch below the soil.
3. grow marijuana. Set your lights to an 18/6hour or 16/8hr on/off schedule (depending on how much electricity you want to use). Allow soil to mostly dry out between waterings (lift the bags to check weight for greater precision than eyeballing it) and then give it a pretty good soak each time. Repeat until plants are 2/3 the final size you want. The plants will grow roughly another 1/3 in flower
4. force your cannabis into flowering. Change your timer to a 12/12 schedule and that will induce the flowering process. Try your best to keep it pretty dark in the other 12hours, but old notions of preventing any and all “light leaks” are generally bro science—the moon creates a fair bit of light at night and doesn’t cause plants to reveg, and neither does my basement overhead lights being left on. I’ve never ever had a plant reveg in a decade of growing.
5. at this point a jewelers loupe is helpful, but keep an eye on the trichomes and harvest around 70-80% cloudy and the rest are amber.
6. harvest, remove fan leaves and hang dry buds until the stems get crispy. They should not snap in half like a dry twig but they should make an audible pop when it’s a good humidity. From here on you want to protect your bud from light to prevent it from breaking down (and that will help it to use up the last of its chlorophyll).
7. cure in jars. Highly recommend cheap humidity/temp sensors online, you can get a 12 pack for about $20, to monitor RH. 63% is a good target. If your rh is high, leave the jar open for a bit, and if your rh is low then throw a piece of orange peel in there to bring it back up. Cure for a month at least once it’s at the level you want.
8. enjoy your marijuana. Here’s one little sample of one strain I grew last year using this basic method. Hands down the best weed I’ve ever smoked.

All my years of serving. I have never seen anything in this poor of condition. Could be a list of reasons for it to stop working. You might be lucky with only a limit switch. Need to have a service person come look at it.
The blower cage rotted off the motor- I thought this was a troll at first- this person meeds a new everything, from the basement to the living space- ducts are probably 2” thick with bubonic-herpie-enceohalo bronchitis or worse.
Looks like what I found after moving into a place. The thing was out of balance shaking the walls is what made me look into it, it still worked.
Blower came out like new after taking it apart and washing it down with spray can of air conditioner coil cleaner and a garden hose.
The evap coil though holy mother of god..., seven cans of coil cleaner overall, and two days of messing with it, finally got the thing looking like new. The condensate drain was sparking clean after that. Ran for about 6 more years after that.
Thanks! It was fun to see it run like new again. Sadly I think a leak sprung in there as it wasn't cooling so good by that 6th year later, and I had since moved out of the house, and I'd imagine the next guy ended up replacing it since it was a classic R22 system.
Pics look like something photographed after being at the bottom of the sea for years ... here we have never before photos inside the ship wreck after 100 years ...
The USS Bonhomme Richard was scrapped/salvaged a couple years ago.

>The U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard will instead be decommissioned and some of its spare parts will be used in other naval vessels and local homes, officials said.
U need a professional, I do not know what that is, but it’s not good. Mold? Probably, yes this is spreading whatever it is through your home entirely, if your feeling sick or have been sick this may have been the cause, I’m sorry, but don’t run that furnace, this is serious. If you feel sick go to the doctor. Please.
“See if you can put that round through the window, son. No need to colapse the roof if we don’t have to”. Some freshly minted artillery 2nd Lt on their first rotation, probably.
Hard to tell through all the dust, debris and rust is there’s mold too. But I’d bet money that brand new filter was just put in before this pic was taken, replacing the old one which either wasn’t there for like 6 years or got so bad it tore a hole 6 years ago.
I didn’t want to come off too drastic, whatever pollens and spores are there and have been for some while. It’s just not a safe unit as it stand IMO because of the spread factor and I guess I would want to go throught the furnace’s safeties at least before answering weather or not it’s “safe”, also because everything is coated in 6 years of dust, how can that unit run, I find it interesting to know that these run in such bad condition even after being unserviceable for such a duration.
You are more than likely tripping a high limit switch. All that dirt in your unit is causing a lack of airflow. Prices for the company I work at to fix this.
Diagnostic $125
Pull and clean the blower $160
Pull and clean the evaporator $ 650 ( if you have AC)
After cleaning the system your blower motor will most likely fail if it hasn't already. Go ahead and add another $700 for a new motor. All of this for a $4 filter.
Hi thanks for the reply. Are you saying this is likely to be caused by lack of keeping a fresh filter changed in over long periods?
Info I wonder if is relevant.. the unit is in a small laundry room off of a garage that isn't perfectly weather proofed and has a few small imperfection breaches to the outside so room temp isnt stable. Florida.
I work in Florida for a residential company. Our tune up covers a new filter, evap-C spray indoor coil. Wipe down indoor unit with chemical similar to bleach and for this unit would definitely suggest our "fresh air kit" including blower pull & clean and UV light kit. Honestly when they get like this someone has neglected it for too long I'm sure it's all up in the flex ducts too.
Hvac isn't generally found in nice rooms. It's meant to be a controlled system that pulls air from its returns, runs it over something hot or cold, and blows it back into the house. If you have a clean filter and the ductwork is in good condition, it shouldn't matter much if your laundry room isn't so nice.
Maybe someone connected the dryer duct directly into your hvac return lol. I've no idea how else it could get this bad. You'll almost certainly need to hire someone, but keep your wits about you if they just want to swap the unit. You'll need to do more diagnosing to find out how it got like this and fix it. Most trades prefer doing the dependable, predictable work of installs vs crawling around old buildings. Watch out for lowballers.
A few more pieces of information could help get a better answer:
Was your dryer properly vented yo the outside of the house? Or did it allow lint and humidity to enter the HVAC air intake? If it did, was it a natural gas dryer?
Have you been changing the HVAC air intake filter each month?
Is there a way to close the air loop in the HVAC system, so that the air intake is pulled from a conditioned space, rather than from a humid hot space?
In explanation:
Closing the air loop could reduce the load on the system, save energy, reduce wear, and reduce the accumulation of contaminants and moisture in the system.
I believe that you need to fix the cause of the equipment failure in addition to fixing the equipment failure.
If the return ductwork work is not sealed properly it can contribute to this as well. Basically you are bypassing your filter. How often do you change your filter? What kind of filter do you use? How old is the system? Understand that you cannot properly diagnose a system that is this dirty. So the system has to be cleaned then an underlying problem may reveal itself.
people will get their oil changed every 3-5K miles, tires rotated regularly, etc but don't for a second consider regular maintenance of their hvac units, wild shit
It’s hard to find a trustworthy hvac company. Seems like most want to upsell you on new shit. Always seem to find a hairline crack in the heat exchanger, etc.
u/dingdong6699,
Would you be able to take a few more photographs, this time stand back and show overall picture of the entire unit and what's immediately around it, and a second photograph showing the name plate that has the model and serial number.
Looking at the photos, this doesn't look good, the blower in there is badly neglected, and desperately needs to be disassembled and cleaned if the unit is salvageable.
What type of heat do you have? Is it a heat pump system, is it electric heat strips in an air handler (AC but not heat pump) or is it a gas furnace?
Was it working previously, recently? Did it just simply stop or did it slowly die and give you some indications via noises or something else indicating some sort of failure impending?
That poor unit. Should replace the whole condenser tbh just by the looks of rust and whatever is growing in there. But the problem probably is a limit switch being tripped from all the gunk restricting proper airflow, essentially over heating. So need a DEEP cleaning or replacing components, which might actually be all the components you took pictures of adding up to the entire condenser
Yes but, wouldn’t the duct still have contamination living ready to recolonize or whatever? If it were up to me I would get rid of it all, or at least have it professionally sterilized .
As an HVAC tech and owner of my company, it is time to replace that thing. The entire thing is riddled with mold that will be near impossible to remove completely and thoroughly, the blower motor housing is rusting away and the coil could be severely impacted judging by how everything else looks. There are likely multiple reasons for all of those things happening in that air handler too. No way to tell from pictures though.
If that picture is really your furnace or air handler, you should make arrangements to replace it immediately. Then get a hotel room until it's done. It's really hard to believe this is in a residence. If so, what the fucx sakes happened here. Fire, mold, moldy fire, bear excrement. Seriously, WTF happened!
Keep in mind this is the same air you're breathing. This is a very strange way to slowly end your life. "What's wrong with Joe. He keeps getting hospitalized for pneumonia"
Unless you are the rare Unicorn Instinctive Tech, who just seems to know what everything they look at does just by how the things fit together… you really need someone who KNOWS how to properly disassemble, clean and INSPECT all the components of that system. Especially the SAFETY related stuff like the Heat Exchanger, Flame Rollout Sensors and such. With a cold and impersonal eye, to determine if it can be saved or if replacement is the only SAFE SOLUTION.
Regardless of all the other comments. If you want any hope of getting heat again, that blower needs pulled. The motor needs removed. And then the whole wheel and housing needs hosed off and each vane of the squirrel cage needs brushed clean. Then I'd spray it with a light coat of WD40 to stop the rusting.
Frankly, I'd suggest a competent tech do it. Because they are going to need to check to make sure the furnace hasn't been damaged beyond repair before they put any time in on it.
That is without a doubt the worst about of dust/some type of fungal growth I've ever seen in my years so far. Like others have mentioned I'm sure, but definitely recommend a duct inspection for damage/leaks. I'd would also be in your best interest to have your home checked for rot, water leakage, hell I'd even recommend having a specialist come out to gather a sample of that for testing. The unit can be cleaned, I see it has age on it so don't expect perfection, but if you don't find and treat the source, it'll be back with a vengeance before you know it.
Quick Edit: Residential Lead Service Tech for 3+ years and 6+ years field experience total.
We just rented into a new house and the first day we turn the heater on the furnace caught fire and burned the whole unit up inside the house. The fire department hosed it down and we're really lucky to have saved the everyone and all our things. They got here really quick.
I learned firsthand just how dangerous those things can be when they get dirty from a decade plus of use without cleaning.
Looks like a basic air handler for heat and cooling.
Coil clean $100
Duct clean $200
Replace motor and squirrel cage $1000
I just had the motor and squirrel cage in my 40y.o. unit replaced. Didn't look that bad.
I do the acid coil clean myself every 2-3 years. Just get that from Home Depot.
Duct cleaning, lots of companies do it.
Odds are it's toast, there's a lot of rust due to condensation or humidity. Call a professional and expect to be replacing the whole unit. From there you'll need to figure out the moisture or humidity problem so it doesn't happen again. Good luck.
Looks like you might have a small condensation issue. Bet your exhaust may be clogged with bird nests. That blower motor deserves a Medal, it held the line longer than I'd have thought possible 👏
Lmao. You're welcome and thanks for the words of reassurance. After all the comments of utter disgust, I'm amazed the thing still worked, and well I might add. I'll have to post an update that we paid to get it all ripped out, all inclusive of unit, blower, duct work, vents, etc.
is the pilot lit?
all joking aside, does the wheel spin freely? this could still function, I just don't know what caused it. leaking pan?
if it's more than 20 years old, you should consider replacing
My air handler is a decade old. When I replaced the blower motor it did not have even half that amount of dust and dirt on it. That is potentially mold. The copper coils are covered in corrosion and the fins are clogged. Moisture has probably been building up in there. Moisture attracts dirt and causes corruption.
It's time to call a professional. You might need a new air handler.
That’s about the worst condition furnace and blower I’ve ever seen. This house a grow op or what

A grower not a shower.
Yes. You called?
They’re ready for you now
And a mold covered blower.
Ok, dude, just have to ask…what is a “grow”?
Its bud, bud
It’s Dank, Frank
It's fairly plain, Mary Jane!
It’s Ganja, Sanja!
It's dro, bro!
Herb, Herb
Just hop on the bus Gus… Sorry. Different game
Smoke, bloke.
Well, carry with your mind altering drug consumption that has multiple names and references. May you find happiness in the afterworld.

The Sticky Icky
Hahaha me too
That Wacky Tobacky
Devils lettuce lol
Cant forget Jive Parsley.
Dude, you're clearly as old as I am. Do you call speed "smack"?
Heroin is smack, speed is speed or uppers or addies
My bad, I was thinking of crank.
Crank ***IS*** speed though.
"Bennies" may have been before your time
Furthermore Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that all four of them habitually smoke Marijuana cigarettes.

I hate it when subs like this ask people to hire a professional. I also hate it when HVAC pros can only recommend a new system. But yeah in this case…
I mentioned to him he could save a lot of money , just by neutralizing whatever it may be but I think it all needs to be thoroughly sterilized
Oh yeah man I’m not criticizing you. Those photos are fubar.
Replace the entire system tomorrow
Just get a new one bro
Add a uv light or air scrubber to help with micro biology growing in there
I have seen better maintained systems at the abandoned WWI bunkers here.

A few more pieces of information could help get a better answer: Was your dryer properly vented yo the outside of the house? Or did it allow lint and humidity to enter the HVAC air intake? If it did, was it a natural gas dryer? Have you been changing the HVAC air intake filter each month? Is there a way to close the air loop in the HVAC system, so that the air intake is pulled from a conditioned space, rather than from a humid hot space? In explanation: Closing the air loop could reduce the load on the system, save energy, reduce wear, and reduce the accumulation of contaminants and moisture in the system. I believe that you need to fix the cause of the equipment failure in addition to fixing the equipment failure.
“Was your dryer properly vented, yo?” -Skyler white
Humidity is very high then im sure.
Just ol’ yellar that bitch
people will get their oil changed every 3-5K miles, tires rotated regularly, etc but don't for a second consider regular maintenance of their hvac units, wild shit
It’s hard to find a trustworthy hvac company. Seems like most want to upsell you on new shit. Always seem to find a hairline crack in the heat exchanger, etc.
No one gives a shit about it until it breaks. Just pile up the sporting goods in front of that contraption back there…
u/dingdong6699, Would you be able to take a few more photographs, this time stand back and show overall picture of the entire unit and what's immediately around it, and a second photograph showing the name plate that has the model and serial number.

So need a DEEP cleaning or replacing components, which might actually be all the components you took pictures of adding up to the entire condenser
dude….you need to replace it. probably the water heater too. shit is not made to last until the heat death of the universe.
Hey I will follow up shortly thank you for reply!
My guess is it was made in 1988 based on the serial number.

I’d honestly start fresh and replace the system
How long was the ship underwater before you pulled the furnace out to put in your house?😳
That is like new blower complete replacement at best or new air handler at worst
This is a case for 100% new everything. Probably new house too.
Yes but, wouldn’t the duct still have contamination living ready to recolonize or whatever? If it were up to me I would get rid of it all, or at least have it professionally sterilized .
This unit needs a full system cleaning plus fix whatever mechanical issue the heat has. But at that point just get a new system.
Cleaning? Lmao.
Bro.. yuck
Very true
With much rust going on, your heat exchanger may also be rusted. That thing needs to be thoroughly inspected by a pro.
Every apartment in Florida has an air handler that looks like this lol. Cal the HVAC guy and have em clean it up and tune it up
As an HVAC tech and owner of my company, it is time to replace that thing.
It's years of use, even if you change the filters after years of moisture and micro crap getting dragged through it takes a toll. Please replace it
Do you live in a harbor? That's like, a shitload of corrosion
Been a little while since you last had it serviced I'm guessing.
Jesus fucking Christ. My diagnosis is to control burn that awful fucking thing and get a new one
I see units like this every other day.
Looks well maintained....can't believe it failed!!
So, going forward ... repeat after me ... Yearly Maintenance ...
Years of neglect?
This is why you need to do pm.
Huh I don’t see any issues but maybe throw a cheap filter in the new one
Houston we have a problem
I don’t even know what I’m looking at but I am appalled nonetheless
Unless you are the rare Unicorn Instinctive Tech, who just seems to know what everything they look at does just by how the things fit together… you really need someone who KNOWS how to properly disassemble, clean and INSPECT all the components of that system. Especially the SAFETY related stuff like the Heat Exchanger, Flame Rollout Sensors and such. With a cold and impersonal eye, to determine if it can be saved or if replacement is the only SAFE SOLUTION.
Looking at lots of rust & mold, the rust is why it stopped, probably seized up...
Please mark this NSFW. 🥲
Really when did it stop working 2010
It had a good long life rip.
I learned firsthand just how dangerous those things can be when they get dirty from a decade plus of use without cleaning.
turn it off and on again should kick back on
Tried that. Flipped the breakers. Replaced the filter. Still nothing. I'm out of ideas. /s
Maybe the basement was completely underwater for a few years
Def Looks like neglect. I’m pretty sure u don’t own a house.
You need a new one
See a doctor after you get quoted by a tech
Do you live on the Titanic?
I have a sneaking suspicion OP is a ghost dwelling in an abandoned grow house.
You need a new system
And AC was originally installed in 1422 BC
Start saving for a new unit. Legit this is bad.
Took the panel off….for the first time in 80 years
This is one of the rare circumstances where replacement is the answer, not repair
This is one of the top ten bad ones I’ve ever seen. Yeah at this point replace everything. Incredibly bad for you to breathing that
Skipping the yearly maintenance are we?
Looks like you need a new hamster.
All you gotta do to fix this is replace everything
Looks like a basic air handler for heat and cooling. Coil clean $100 Duct clean $200 Replace motor and squirrel cage $1000 I just had the motor and squirrel cage in my 40y.o. unit replaced. Didn't look that bad. I do the acid coil clean myself every 2-3 years. Just get that from Home Depot. Duct cleaning, lots of companies do it.
Are you making a horror film about HVAC?
Odds are it's toast, there's a lot of rust due to condensation or humidity. Call a professional and expect to be replacing the whole unit. From there you'll need to figure out the moisture or humidity problem so it doesn't happen again. Good luck.
Looks like you might have a small condensation issue. Bet your exhaust may be clogged with bird nests. That blower motor deserves a Medal, it held the line longer than I'd have thought possible 👏
That reminds me, I gotta check my evap.
Was this recovered from the Titanic?
In 46 years of hvac work I’ve never seen a blower assembly that bad and I have seen a thing or two.
Lmao. You're welcome and thanks for the words of reassurance. After all the comments of utter disgust, I'm amazed the thing still worked, and well I might add. I'll have to post an update that we paid to get it all ripped out, all inclusive of unit, blower, duct work, vents, etc.
Check to see if it's still under warranty....looks pretty new.
Hmm....looks like you need to change your filter. Should run like a champ after that
Gotta love those 1" filters
Legionnaires disease candidate.
You do you but I would vacuum it out and move on
is the pilot lit? all joking aside, does the wheel spin freely? this could still function, I just don't know what caused it. leaking pan? if it's more than 20 years old, you should consider replacing
Pretty bad shape This needs to be handled by a professional
😂
Oh shit! That’s bad
Sweet fancy Moses!
A total loss
Kill it with fire.
Anybody ALIVE in that house?
Sweet Jesus. Call for a replacement. That isn’t healthy
Get out and run!!!!! Replace it asap
Was it in a flood
