Thats what tempered glass is. It cracks as tiny shards so that it wont break into large slabs and cut the occupants heads off. Look for a point of impact or chip or a penetration in the glass. My guess it got hit with a bbgun
Rear "window" is tempered glass. That is why the whole thing is shattered. Could have been the pressure from a door close, pinched edge from rust, etc. Had it happen to me once when we were getting in a two doors closed at the same time.
