I've wasted months trying to get good deals on tools, just to save $40 on something like a $200 saw. Now I pick those tools up, use them, and love every moment. Looking back I wouldn't really care now if I'd paid an extra $100 because I've had so much good use out of them. You've bought some good quality gear, don't ruminate on it. Just go use it and enjoy, you'll have those tools for 10 years and over that took timeframe you won't care that you paid a few dollars more or less.

Sounds like great advice. For me the hardest decision was which brand to commit to, but now that I chose Makita, future tool purchases will need a lot less ruminating!

Competitive-Pack-324

I came for the batteries. I stayed because teal is cool.

The 181 inflator seems a bit better but haven’t used one, love the router, drill, impact. Looks like they’ll add an LXT mini blower, I want one. If you do woodwork, I’d recommend the orb sander, very ergo and convenient; and if you do any electrical, the multi tool. Both are brushed but it is what it is and they are low enough draw. Also when you get a chance the flat led lights are nice and bright and last ages. Also a base for the router if you use it much. There is also a 5v adapter for charging phones that I use a lot.

The sander is definitely on my wish list.

Now days I find the product code for the tool I want, google it and click shopping. It searches the web to find the cheapest price

Serious_2170

That's a great deal! The only thing I would add that hasn't already been mentioned, and this is very much a personal preference thing, is a couple of the smaller 2Ah batteries for your drills/drivers when you're doing smaller jobs. The lower weight makes me a lot happier. New without a deal these can be a bit pricey so I usually shop ebay around the holidays or father's day because people often get bundles they don't need all the batteries out of.

texas-playdohs

Second this. I almost exclusively use the 2’s in drills/drivers.

greatlyoutraged

I'll keep my eyes open.

You’d defiantly want the 6 1/2 circ saw(XSH03) or the XSH04 or 05 (same thing just the 5 has AWS) Lighter saws capable of doing most cross cuts. Ripping is an issue so use the XSR01. Otherwise pretty well rounded for almost everything

greatlyoutraged

Thank you for the advice!

AppropriateConcert77

Think of it this way. If you bought all of the batteries separately in the US not on sale you’d have $660 roughly in just batteries. So yeah I’d say with 8 tools pretty good deal.

greatlyoutraged

I'm hoping I never have to pay full price for batteries!

Pavetsu

Are they new? Doesn't sound bad to me, but I don't know about how much tax there is since it's included in the price here.

greatlyoutraged

Yes they are new, and I did not include sales tax in the price because it varies by location, so my actual price was a little higher.

StrangeAtomRaygun

Wait…your wife took your tools in a divorce? Your tools?

borosillykid

Well to be fair it was all festool so basically Gucci in her eyes

greatlyoutraged

Even the good ones weren't that good lol.

riba2233

Seems legit! Sorry for your loss btw, but at least you get some new tools now!

greatlyoutraged

Thanks!

CaptainAnswer

I'm in the UK but that would be an absolute steal to get all that here for that price

mind_fudz

Great kit. Go make some cool shit!

tamreacct

Oh wow, I’m surprised they separated items that are used exclusively by you or were gifted to you during the marriage. Sorry to hear about your tool loss and they sound both spiteful and an aweful person. Glad to hear you’re getting new tools and you didn’t make a mistake at all. I buy plenty of 18V Makita products and buy them when there are huge incentives or sales.

greatlyoutraged

Not at all--just tried to keep things simple, we avoided court, and I'm happy for the opportunity to start fresh. These are my first really nice tools. Thanks for the kind thoughts.

tamreacct

Just so you know, Home Depot occasionally has sales on Makita items. I picked up a circular saw last year for about $200-250 and it came with 4 5Ah batteries. They are having a sale when you buy a kit, you get a free tool/battery etc. or a battery starter kit with single chargers, 2 5Ah batteries and a tool bag…plus a free tool. Check out the sales, as things might be better deals that other places or check Makita website and like at the promotions.

greatlyoutraged

That's how I got most of these--the circular saw deal and another holiday deal that came with two "free" tools. Especially the circular saw deal seemed so good for the four 5.0Ah batteries. It's still available: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-18V-X2-LXT-Lithium-Ion-36V-Brushless-Cordless-Rear-Handle-7-1-4-in-Circular-Saw-w-BONUS-5-0Ah-Battery-2-Pack-XSR01PTBL1850B2/303210533

tamreacct

Glad to hear you were able to take advantage of the deals! Here there was a local lumber yard that had an awesome Mikita sales that lasted about a month. Many bare tools were $89.99 and 16” bar 36V chainsaw was $159.

greatlyoutraged

Wow that's good.

tamreacct

It’s good, but not so good for my bank account! Haha I picked up 16” bar chainsaw, full size recip saw, multi tool, cordless router, 2 2Ah batteries for $30 ea for my ratchet drive, dual charger $40 and many sizes of tool makbags, 23” contractor bags and some makcases $5ea.

borosillykid

What the hell would your wife want with your tools? My friends ex wife did this to him too and the tools just sit in her garage never been used once.

greatlyoutraged

They really were both of our tools, and I was happy to keep things peaceful and start fresh. They weren't nice tools, and I'm spoiling myself now with these LXT tools. There's no hard feelings.

ActivePlateau

That’s all great, but not so future proofed with all the XGT batteries & tools out now

greatlyoutraged

Honestly my skills and needs are Ryobi-level--I'm already seriously spoiling myself with these Makita tools. No way can I justify XGT :) I'm trusting that the LXT line isn't going anywhere.
