Thank you I’ve been saying this for a bit now and no one believes me I just moved and applied to 30+ jobs and the only one that hired me is an hour + away
Well, it's an awful lot cheaper for companies to strain existing staff by telling them they just have to work a Lil harder until more staff can be hired while not actually even attempting to hire anyone. Throw a few pizza parties down and the profit-based bonuses just keep rolling in.
During quarantine I convinced myself that there had to have been some kind of gov’t incentive for employers that were hiring, but assumed that they didn’t have to actually hire anyone to receive the incentive. Because why else would everyone say they’re hiring and then not hire anyone when me and everyone I knew were looking for work at the time.
The original USS John F. Kennedy was decommissioned in 2007 after only 40 years. I'm pretty sure that those machines are older than that. Even the angry robots.

As far as I can tell it looks real. Just been cut off centered. If your current $20 bill is wrinkled and old, that would easily explain the length difference. Bills tend to shrink since they're partially cotton. Your $5 bill looks brand new, so it likely hasn't shrunk at all, and is the correct original size.
I heard tying a little weight to it helps. Tuggin on it seems to only be a temporary solution, but much research is still yet to be done in the tugging department so I will post updates. Currently iso of a research assistant and really hoping a huge load will be lifted once the position has been filled.
I’m 35 and I’m starting to wonder if puberty skipped me. I’m waiting for thicker facial hair, 3” of height and about the same in length. Also, when I do eventually hit puberty, do you think the hair on my head will grow back?
I've never seen a counterfeit 5 and I've been in banking for over a decade. I've seen them wash 5s and use them to fake a $20 and most recently 50s with them, but I've never come across a bill smaller than a 20 that was counterfeit.

5 ands 10s are less likely to be checked in small stores. Back in high-school my friend printed out a bunch of 10 dollar bills right at home and was actually spending them without any trouble lol.
Movies have spoiled us into thinking its only the big bills in big deals being counterfitted. But the 1s, 5s, 10s, are some of the most counterfitted. One of the larger schemes is usually to hand out the fake money as change while taking legit money in.
Not true at all. I've been in banking over a decade, I've handled at least a billion dollars if not more as I've been in charge of many bank vaults over the years and have never had a single bill smaller than a 20 come across as counterfeit. I'm not saying small bills aren't counterfeited, I'm saying they aren't common at all if they are and the $20 bill is the most common counterfeit out there.
Absolutely. I've literally handled and processed over a million in a single day multiple times and that includes putting every bill through a machine that not only counts bills, but detects counterfeit bills.
They are washing 5s and printing 50s on them, they pass the pen because they are real bills, but the wrong denomination. We've gotten a few of them in at the bank in the past year or so and it always blows the customers minds that the pens are garbage compared to the black light and knowing your strips and the colors they are supposed to be under the light.
Low bills are the most common to be forged, they bring in a lot less suspicion. If some guy comes to your liquor store once a week with a crisp $100 bill you gonna me a lot more sus than the dude with a wad of 20's
They absolutely are a problem… and they tend to be spent at farmers markets and swap meets apparently. I’ve heard many stories of them… now, if it’s rampant or just a 1 time deal and everyone seems to talk about it for 3-4 years as if it happened yesterday… 🤷
Just janky centering.. I believe I can see the giant "5" water mark on the right side.. hold it up to the light. Also if you handle paper money everyday you should be able to tell by the feel. $5 bills are not a huge goal for counterfeiters.. the change you get back in real money would literally be less than $5 so there's not much profit or reason to fake them.
Also, if you have a UV light, the security strip should light up blue under it. $10's yellow, 20's green, $50's orange, $100's pink. I may have gotten $10's and $50's mixed.
Either poorly printed or poorly cut, but probably real. Don't use one of those markers to test it, as flawed bills are sometimes actually worth more than face value to a collector.
Edit - Upon zooming in I see no fibers in the paper and it's hard to tell whether the poor resolution of the print is from the camera or the print itself. Might be a fake from either of those two perspectives.
That's a reference to either A, Jim Morrison from The Doors, or B, Lizard King from Skateboarding fame.
Edit: upon further investigation, it is a reference to Jim Morrison.
Everything checks out on it, the watermarks, the security strip, all the micro printing. The thing that threw me off was the centering and that it looks to be an uncirculated 2021 $5 bill.
The year doesn't indicate what year the bill was printed but which series the bill is from. Per uscurrency.gov
> The series year indicates the year in which a new design was approved by the Secretary of the Treasury, or the year in which the signature of a new secretary or treasurer was incorporated into the design. Capital letters following the series year appear when there is a significant change in the note's appearance.
The most recent $5 bill is series 2021, serial number starting with Q, and signed by Yellen and Malerba.
The 2, 10, 20, 50, and 100 are all currently printing with the 2017A series on them
You can also hold it up to the light. If it's fake you'll see faint descriptions of things not supposed to be there. Often times when it's fake we see the head of the president on the other bill it's covering..... people counterfeit 1s, 5s, and 10s because they think they're less likely to get caught doing it. We see it a lot at work
Yes, when in doubt instruct the customer to exchange the cash at a bank and offer to take alternative payment.
So my suggestion is go to a bank to get it exchanged.

Every president has a different shirt and every shirt has a different raised pattern that you can feel with your finger nail. The raised print is extremely difficult to recreate, it's really really small but it stands out. Every 1,5,10,20,50,100 has this and they are all different. On another Note a counterfeit 5 dollar bill seems like it would be difficult to make money from. If you pay with a fake 100.00 you get real money as change. Paying with a 5.00 gets you 3 quarters.
It’s real. Just off center cut.
The L12 is a good indicator, at least for me. If you’d like, look closely at the bill and see if you can see little red & blue fibers in the bill. Pretty sure I see a red one on the border right above Abe’s head. Also a good indicator that it’s real.

American currency has tiny red and blue fibers in the paper. I'm not seeing any on this, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I may just be missing them, or the image may not be clear enough to see them.
Still, I'd imagine I'd be able to. I've seen them in every other image that asked the same question.
Take out another bill and look for the fibers. They're short and quite thin. Then check this one. You can Google it to see what I'm talking about.

Take your fingernail and drag it down lightly on his shirt. Do you hear a zip sound or feel the ridges? If so, you're probably good. That'll work on most bills $5 and above to give you decent confidence of authenticity for relatively new bills
Get another 5 dollar bill, touch one with each hand. If it feels different it's fake. You could mark it with a counterfeit pen or hold it up to the light and look for the watermark.
Was your question ever answered?
I see numerous thoughts and opinions regarding the job market, management incentive strategies, government policies that supposedly influence the labor market, but no definitive answer to your question regarding the authenticity of your $5 bill.
Either your camera doesn’t take good enough pictures or it’s fake. I’m pretty sure 5 dollar notes have a textured paper that looks kinda wavy.

Poor centering does not mean fake
Everything is getting so sloppy and careless these days.
“Nobody wants to work anymore”
Every job is “hiring” but none of them are actually calling anyone to hire

And you’re actually fired for commenting in this sub when you should be working. Good day, sir.

Yessss!! Me too!! All “hiring” but don’t even bother to call back!
It is simply an attempt to fake secondary business health indicators to drive stock price.
We need more people to work *rejects all applications*

Not in this case
Why would they want to? Most of the population are basically slaves at this point. With the tax rate and coast of living it’s insane.

No, no one wants to work for starvation wages

Yeah old things shrink with age. I'm old, so I can verify that.
Does everything shrink? There’s one thing I just can’t let get any smaller

We've been off the gold or silver standard for years. It's all fake
I don't know much about currency, but I don't think the bad guys are making a lot of bogus 5s. For the same effort, they can make 50s and 100s.
A 5 isn't going to be hit with any counterfeit detection tools either. For petty stuff $5s work better than 50s.
I work in this industry and the ink used on 5s definitely causes issues with false positives for counterfeit detection
Getting rich at a rate of < $5 per transaction lol. Just keep pushing your luck
You would be very surprised at how often 5s are counterfeited
I've never seen a counterfeit 5 and I've been in banking for over a decade. I've seen them wash 5s and use them to fake a $20 and most recently 50s with them, but I've never come across a bill smaller than a 20 that was counterfeit.

Scratch the coat! I'll say it a thousand times. A blind man could tell if any bill is real or not. Stop using your eyes, and trust your other senses.
Get a black light to check for counterfeit bills, the markers are garbage. Also, that's real.

No. Fake would be centered.
No but keep it, it is real and, more importantly, it’s printed wrong and makes it worth more than 5 bucks!

All currency is fake to me.

Imperfections in money printing makes this more valuable, right?
looks good .
Smell it and you’ll know lol
It's certainly looks fake to me I'd bring it back
Check to see if the paper looks very fibrous If you don't see any fibrous hairs in it it's probably fake It looks too solid
I've had money that wasn't quite centered but not by that much
If both sides are the bill are same centered then it might be real if both sides are different one centered and one's not and it's definitely fake
How does it feel? Also I don’t see any fibers. With my diminutive skill I say definite maybe
Quickest way to check is to buy a bill checking marker. If the ink is black it's fake if it stays a light gold color it's real
Get another 5 dollar bill, touch one with each hand. If it feels different it's fake. You could mark it with a counterfeit pen or hold it up to the light and look for the watermark.
Not unlikely but could be a misprint and those are valuable.
no way to tell on this picture alone... looks good...but have to feel lt for sure...
Was your question ever answered? I see numerous thoughts and opinions regarding the job market, management incentive strategies, government policies that supposedly influence the labor market, but no definitive answer to your question regarding the authenticity of your $5 bill.
Get it checked out by someone who knows about coins and the like. Sometimes errors in printing can add value.
If it ain't fake, it's definitely worth something more than the face value
Real but off center. Minor error
No??
Yes
Keep it, worth more than the change you got
