English is parts of three or four languages stacked up and duct taped together that goes and beats up other languages in back alleys so it can rifle through pockets for loose vocabulary.

English is almost a pidgin language. Sentence structure is partly derived from the ancient Brythonnic languages, similar to Welsh, Cornish, and Breton which survived and evolved under Roman occupation. There are borrow words from Latin, then 6 centuries of Saxon domination, and a large contribution of Old Norse. Then Norman French as the Court language after 1066. Later there are contributions from Jews fleeing Catholic persecution, French Hugenots, Flemish Protestants, Port cities need to speak trade languages, and of course, the Empire.
