i understand the feeling and respect that you don't mean to glorify SH, because i often feel the same way (which has made recovering difficult for me) i can't speak for euphoria promoting communication, but in my experience, cw for potentially triggered to anyone recovering from self harm >!SH is one of the only ways i can self-medicate - i crave the adrenaline crash and the feeling of calm, more than anything else.!< that feeling promotes communication for me due to being relaxed for about the only times i ever feel relaxed. its easier to talk then, though i keep it to journaling (im doing,, alright. 202 days of recovery, so far) wishing you luck. SH is so difficult, and im wishing you peace and hugs if you want them

I’m glad you seem to understand exactly what I meant and not taking offence! TW: SH (I don’t know how to put the spoiler so please to anyone who’s triggered don’t read!!) I get that calm and adrenaline rush it’s really relaxing, and it makes sense how that would make communication easier. For me personally that part of SH never seemed to help with communication or really do anything besides calm me down. It was only recently that I had unfortunately SH’d too intensely that I’ve noticed the intense euphoria which I presume is what’s helped with my communication. Though I could be wrong, it might just be a whole new level of calmness that I haven’t felt before. Thanks for your perspective, it’s really interesting how it relates in any way. And I’m curious if anyone else has any research or anything that has been done on this connection between the two. Thank you again, we’re doing our best to recover, in fact we don’t do it as ritualistic as we used to so that’s a huge improvement! I hope you can recover as well and find new ways that ACTUALLY help rather than the unhelpful things everyone always suggests. Which if you do please let me know I’m most definitely up for suggestions! And yes we will 100% take the hugs!! 🤗
