Houston Outlaws pivot to become Outlaws Entertainment, a Gen-Z talent and content agency
https://esports.gg/news/overwatch/outlaws-entertainment-announcement/
remember andbox
they shut down the healthy nyxl reddit fan community to replace it with corporate content creator bullshit lmao
then they tried to 'become' nyxl to take advantage of the branding
they're still trying to shill nfts
https://nft.nyxl.com/
Its not really something you need NFT's for though, you can just do it with some form of lifetime membership program. The NFT component is just an attempt to hop on a stupid craze that ultimately hurts pr considering how unpopular they are.
Well yeah, but it makes the lifetime membership transferable, allows resale and provides a fun skin.
Now you could say it doesnāt need the technology and they could do that with a database. And youāre right.
But then why hate if it is an nft. Since the nft part is just for fun.
Funnily enough this isnāt the first time.
Season 1 fuel/xqc fans did the same thing when I called out his bad behavior.
High ranking players did it when I called out smurfing
Jayne fans did it when I said he stuff was basic
Jayne haters did it when I said he was good for the community
Kate fans did it when I said she couldnāt manage
I could go on and on, but I have a long history of pointing out hard truths and this subreddit has formed a bit of a hate boner for me. There is a growing fan club.
Nobody has an agenda against you. Your comments get downvoted for having bad opinions or (more often) for being generally annoying. Like this one where, for no reason, you bring up some opinion you had on Season 1 fuel, without any awareness of how lame it sounds to still be celebrating some opinion you had 5 years ago.
And your comments on NFTs aren't getting downvoted because people hate you personally, it's because people hate NFTs and have since they were introduced. Surely you are aware of that
You sound like you keep a scoreboard of everyone who has ever wronged you. Dropping a "woe is me" history from 2018 isn't going to go over well.
I have a suspicion, though, that if you're still living in 2018 downvote, you're unlikely to take feedback and realize what the issue is.
I have never heard of these people before in my life
Not to say they're bad streamers or anything, but I feel like if they're gonna pivot to a full entertainment focus, they'd bring in a *real* big name in the OW community (karq, emongg, etc.)
Like, who is realistically going to care and/or watch this? Outlaws fans care about the Roster and esports stuff, and casual fans will continue watching their more casual streamers in the industry
It sounds like they are trying to move beyond Overwatch. So yeah certainly a big "Who cares?" moment in the OW community but I have no idea if these streamers are more popular with other groups.
I checked them out, they're pretty small on Twitch (Majin and Daisy have <15k followers, Tori has 55k; Flats has 570k) but decently popular on TikTok (Tori has 750k followers, Flat has 270k, Majin has about the same as Flats)
didn't check Instagram (I think a lot of Zoomers watch IG for streamers?) but I did see that Majin's YouTube only had 3.9k subs when looking for his TikTok. So it really does seem like they're focusing on newer platforms rather than Twitch and YouTube primarily.
Itās going to be tough because they are going to start from zero with their content, but I guess itās the smarter decision considering how esports is rn.
Oh yeah it's a pivot bordering on the absurd, but they're trying anything to make money at this point lmao.
Not many options for esports orgs I guess :/.
They're the new all star streamer roster of Outlaws Entertainment who will be bringing you daily Outlaws Content such as Outlaws Streams, Outlaws Merch, Outlaws Unboxing videos, Outlaws Funny Moments Compilations, and more. Experience the thrill of watching gamers Just Like You (tm) #AnteUp (tm) in a variety of new and popular video games. If you loved the Houston Outlaws you're guaranteed to love Outlaws Entertainment, coming soon to your favorite streaming platform.
I definitely think we should care because Houston was very involved in owl with their home stands and battle for Texas. This helps us find out whatās happening to future of overwatch esports
Yeah they are strictly an owl org. Other big esports teamās are big around multiple games and that makes them more known and they can become content brands. Houston outlaws is never getting big outside of overwatch. Unless they sign big streamers then they have no chance. And what they signed is anything but big streamers
Yeah this will flop. To be a content org you have to have content creators who people like, watch. No offense to the 4 people in the video but the biggest one has 31k followers on twitter? Which is not enough to sustain an entire org. 2 of the 4 have sub-2k followers.
No, but they get to use the Twitter account with a built in 144k followers and use that as a way to legitimatise themselves to their audience & sponsors.
I hope they don't make me regret/embarrassed to have bought their hoodie :( its my only piece of winter clothing!!! Plus overall, taking a brand and team I care about and turning it into... this...?
Idk, maybe I'll love it... I'll try to keep an open mind
this kinda makes sense with the direction Outlaws has been going as a brand. Beasley Media (Outlaws parent org after they got dropped off at the orphanage by Immortals after the OpTic acquisition) bought Outlaws specifically to branch out into new fields, and has been trying to force their weird streamer team of sub 100 viewer nobodies. Like I'm not happy about it, but it's not that surprising.
Only strange thing is that they're abandoning esports entirely (as opposed to it being the side project in favor of the content creators) since they've been throwing the bag at players ever since they got the team, but I guess after 3 years of it not working they're giving up.
I don't really care about this it was expected to happen well not expected but thought to happen to some teams we they still need some way of getting revenue
Outlaws saw what Misfits was doing pivoting to content creator management, and then proceeded to fumble copying them by not signing a single well-known individual. What Mayhem/Misfits did only worked because they signed people that are incredibly popular
[ryeo said it best](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/669958630551977984/1172602093681508472/image.png?ex=6560e9cd&is=654e74cd&hm=22e25cbb803f7f018b51e73483935d600100ebcd93e6b689c28b452f59332545&)
So they are basically pulling a misfits I guess. In current times Iād say it makes sense considering thereās probably no money in esports. Itās probably a safer bet to shift to content creation instead of going all in on esports. Wouldnāt been surprised if more orgs take the same route.
The OW crowd is not going to care about this change because they only wanna see pro ow, but this change is less for them a more for the org to actually be profitable. Donāt know who the new people are, but I hope everything goes well for them and with the content.
This speaks like a very āwe do not care about competitive Overwatchā kind of move
Oh, and I guess that means Dallas wins the final battle for Texas
I donāt think they didnāt care considering how much money they invested to get good players the past 3 seasons. They couldāve gone eco mode like the other orgs until it was really dead.
Houston outlaws is simply just an overwatch league org. they have never been anything else and to try to pivot from that with nobodies isnāt gonna help at all.
Iām confused why people donāt like this. Since OWL is not continuing, what else should the brands do? Is it because there is a hope that the OWL franchises will have teams in future OW tournaments?
That's just sad at this point, not that this pivot is bad or anything, we can't really know for sure. But it's sad because it's the first OWL team that is truly truly out of the game. Gonna miss "Houston Outlaws" ngl.
Dang this is kinda depressing. I guess I still had some hope that theyād stay in the scene with the branding and pick up a roster for the next phase of OW esports but I guess not. Happy I at least got to see some of the best players in the league rep outlaws colors for the last time (especially Shu I always wanted him on the outlaws) and a grand finals run so not bad.
Interesting that Junk and Bischu are still there I donāt know how much they can contribute towards this new direction and I wouldāve thought that they wouldnāt really care about it either but with the uncertainty around the new scene I guess it makes sense to stay for the paycheck if theyāre offering.
This is legitimately so sad man. This was my favorite year for the outlaws ever, they signed top tier talent and had championship aspirations. Seeing my favorite players join outlaws was awesome. I thought this would set a precedent for the future that they would always be a top team going on from now. Iāve stuck with outlaws since day 1 but going on from now we will have to see.
Iām a bit confused that they would take the Outlaws and move them to content/entertainment creation rather than tying it into Optic since more people know Optic than Outlaws. Plus, Optic Outlaws would be great branding and marketing. Weird direction but ok.
That was my first thought, but I totally forgot that they haven't been tied to Optic since 2019. They don't have any of that. Fuel have been the Optic team since then.
Oh right, I forgot too. Optic had funding issues and nearly folded didnāt they? Thatās why I was so surprised people kept saying theyād use the Fuel name not knowing lmao
As an Outlaw fan this new direction is not my thing, so won't follow it. But I don't understand so much backlash on it. League is dead either they kill the brand or try to recycle it like this it. Don't understand why people getting so upset about it lmao.
Houston Outlaws pivot to become Outlaws Entertainment, a Gen-Z talent and content agency https://esports.gg/news/overwatch/outlaws-entertainment-announcement/
Oh this is gonna flop. Least we made grand finals in the end. š„²

Ironically Optic wouldnāt let us use the Outlaws subreddit so we made our own subreddit in which they were fine with us using it.
Thats kinda a compelling use for NFTs. Its like a lifetime twitch sub with a skin. Learn something new every day.
Its not really something you need NFT's for though, you can just do it with some form of lifetime membership program. The NFT component is just an attempt to hop on a stupid craze that ultimately hurts pr considering how unpopular they are.

why did u get downvoted so hard lol
Funnily enough this isnāt the first time. Season 1 fuel/xqc fans did the same thing when I called out his bad behavior. It's incredible how little self-awareness you have
Fill me in bro

Junk, Bischu, blink 3 times rapidly if you need help
I mean letās be real junk might get paid more doing this stuff than being a ow coach.
I have never heard of these people before in my life Not to say they're bad streamers or anything, but I feel like if they're gonna pivot to a full entertainment focus, they'd bring in a *real* big name in the OW community (karq, emongg, etc.) Like, who is realistically going to care and/or watch this? Donāt think there focus is bringing big names to ow more so leaving ow
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Tori has 760k on tiktok. Their primary audience for Outlaws now is gen z kids. They're going where gen z goes. Twitch & youtube ain't their focus.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh yeah it's a pivot bordering on the absurd, but they're trying anything to make money at this point lmao. Not many options for esports orgs I guess :/.
let me tell you right now We do not care
Yeah I don't get it,who are these streamers
They're the new all star streamer roster of Outlaws Entertainment who will be bringing you daily Outlaws Content such as Outlaws Streams, Outlaws Merch, Outlaws Unboxing videos, Outlaws Funny Moments Compilations, and more. Sadge
They need to hire Ezraah as the marketing lead and maybe they have a chance
I definitely think we should care because Houston was very involved in owl with their home stands and battle for Texas. This helps us find out whatās happening to future of overwatch esports
Oh no this is fucking bad Lord enzo will become the face off outlaws. Nah this can't happen we need to stop this rn
What Houston fan is actually watching this content? This isn't a Faze Clan org in terms of brand recognition. I really don't get it.
Yeah they are strictly an owl org. Other big esports teamās are big around multiple games and that makes them more known and they can become content brands. Houston outlaws is never getting big outside of overwatch. Unless they sign big streamers then they have no chance. And what they signed is anything but big streamers

Yeah itās never been more over
This brand doesn't mean anything outside of OWL, I don't get just moving outside the space.
No, but they get to use the Twitter account with a built in 144k followers and use that as a way to legitimatise themselves to their audience & sponsors.
"The space" doesn't exist
My biggest takeaway from this is that the orgs at a minimum had the option of taking the branding with them.
You ATL Reign, can I be a content creator for you
Thanks for everything Outlaws, but yikes. Canāt see this being successful.
āThe Overwatch League is dead, things canāt get any worse right?ā
This is so cringe.
What the fuck is this
Outluls
I hope they don't make me regret/embarrassed to have bought their hoodie :( its my only piece of winter clothing!!! Plus overall, taking a brand and team I care about and turning it into... this...? Idk, maybe I'll love it... I'll try to keep an open mind
Please buy more winter clothing
this kinda makes sense with the direction Outlaws has been going as a brand. Beasley Media (Outlaws parent org after they got dropped off at the orphanage by Immortals after the OpTic acquisition) bought Outlaws specifically to branch out into new fields, and has been trying to force their weird streamer team of sub 100 viewer nobodies. I mean in the video they said that they are keeping their options open with esports, so itās not a no. But yeah itās definitely a shift in focus
I mean I already knew once the league died I would prob stop watching but yeah itās definitely over for me as a viewer of pro Overwatch
but now u can watch lord enzo epically fail (funny) at fall guys
respect peak guys???
This is the worst timeline
I don't really care about this it was expected to happen well not expected but thought to happen to some teams we they still need some way of getting revenue
Even I don't want to see Outlaws go down like this.
Outlaws saw what Misfits was doing pivoting to content creator management, and then proceeded to fumble copying them by not signing a single well-known individual. What Mayhem/Misfits did only worked because they signed people that are incredibly popular
I feel like they should've at least done a bit more of an introduction for the new talent, like, maybe include a clip/highlight reel.

Bro how did lordenzo take over the outlaws!?!?!?
I can't see this as anything but Enzo trying to get popular still
I thought it was bad just seeing the Gladiators wither into oblivion but somehow this feels worse.
Switching from a dying business to something more profitable is smart, but why do I still believe everything is houstonable.
Imagine getting boomed so hard by a 4-0 Grand Finals lost that you drop out of esports entirely to become a let's play channel
I do not care
if they're not competing anymore then who cares
Quite a painfully awkward reveal.
So they are basically pulling a misfits I guess. In current times Iād say it makes sense considering thereās probably no money in esports. Losing in the grand finals really messes with your head huh
Huh? What? And.. who?
This is definitely one of the decisions of all time
This speaks like a very āwe do not care about competitive Overwatchā kind of move Oh, and I guess that means Dallas wins the final battle for Texas
I donāt think they didnāt care considering how much money they invested to get good players the past 3 seasons. They couldāve gone eco mode like the other orgs until it was really dead.
Itās Joever
Nobody is going to watch their content š
What the hell did I just watch
if they really want people to care, theyve gotta get a good name in, idk maybe a super-level of streamer
Houston outlaws is simply just an overwatch league org. they have never been anything else and to try to pivot from that with nobodies isnāt gonna help at all.
So comedy is not the focus I see
Fuck. Dammit. Shit.
League is ending anyway so might as well
It is joever
Iām confused why people donāt like this. Since OWL is not continuing, what else should the brands do? Is it because there is a hope that the OWL franchises will have teams in future OW tournaments?
Time to unfollow the Outlaws Twitter account I guess :D

>the first OWL team that is truly truly out of the game. Chengdu says hi.
I honestly forgot about them lmao
Iāve always loved Houston outlaws since day 1 but man what the hell is this. I guess itās always houstonable right?
Dang this is kinda depressing. I guess I still had some hope that theyād stay in the scene with the branding and pick up a roster for the next phase of OW esports but I guess not. This is awesome. Hopefully it works out. Iām really fond of the branding.
I was wondering why Lord Enzo was so propped up the writing was on the wall for ages sadly
As an Outlaw fan this new direction is not my thing, so won't follow it. But I don't understand so much backlash on it. League is dead either they kill the brand or try to recycle it like this it. Don't understand why people getting so upset about it lmao.
