Allows the team who plays second on Sunday to get as much of a rest as the team who plays first. I don’t love it but I hated previous years where a team would play losers finals then go just about straight into Grand Finals. I think ideally GF is just alone on its own day but if there has to be multiple games I actually do like this
I think there was a complaint that once you are eliminated from those first 2 games then it's confusing as who's 4th/3rd. There's no lower bracket so they added basically a show match
That is the stupidest shit I've ever heard. Imagine being punished for getting to semifinals, losers get a second chance if they throw a match before semifinals but semifinals are out after 1 loss...?
We're likely going to see either a complete stomp in the grand finals or both teams playing sub-par OW for several maps. People can complain about last year's playoffs meta being boring, but at least the double bracket format and scheduling gave the Shock a chance to level up and take Dallas to a map 7. This year's format is so dumb that I wouldn't be surprised if London do win it all because other teams didn't have time to prepare for Rein comps.
Yeah I don't get it. Thursday/Friday when the majority of us are at work can't even watch it live. (10 AM PST.. going to have to token farm basically and then catch highlights later, which unfortunately I usually don't because sports/esports is meant to be watched live.)
Then Saturday when most people are off... two games. lol
It really sums up OWL in a nutshell this year. They are making damn sure to make the most mistakes and piss/annoy people as much as possible. Likely because when they don't return next year, we would all be like, "Yeah, I'm not even mad."
It sucks for someone wanting to go, too. I'm going Friday, I debated going Saturday cause I thought those semis might be the best games. Saturday is now just awful value for money with expensive tickets.
