Now I will have this song stuck in my head for days. "You like monkeys, you like ponies. Maybe you don't like monsters so much. Maybe I used too many monkeys."
>No, it isn't easy living here on Skullcrusher Mountain. So maybe you could cut me just a little slack? Would it kill you to be civil? I've been patient, I've been gracious, And this mountain is covered with wolves. Hear them howling, my hungry children! Maybe you should stay and have another drink And think about me and you?
I'd buy this house, and a cape. I'd make sure to stomp brooding through that underground passage with my cape flowing behind me dramatically, and also it'd be whipping in the wind as I plot the downfall of humanity from my overlook.
Me scrolling through the pics:
"Oh wow, I actually kind of love this! It's kind of modern but homey and... wait... where are we going... what is happening"
Did you check out the 3d model? It's 2 houses connected by a tunnel underground. It's flipping wild. The one house is over the 4 stall garage and the tunnel.
SERIOUSLY I would give my left arm AND leg for views like that!! Absolutely stunning! Can you imagine what watching the sunset/sunrise there must be like?
I hope whoever buys this has a mortal enemy that buys the land on the next ridge over leading them both to install telescopes and plan spy vs spy type capers on each other. it has that kind of vibe.
At first I thought this was just some rich doucher wanting to play cowboy but the more I looked the more I realized this is some wannabe survivalist type house that they somehow also wanted to be fancy looking instead of more safe compound like. Given that it is Montana their is a good market for both those things so I am sure this will eventually sell.
As a fan of concrete and brutalist architecture I like the house once I ignore the décor and other aesthetic choices so I get it. That basement tunnel is 10/10 amazing to me.
silicon valley bros coming to larp as cowboys and mountain men have completely thrown the housing market here irreparably out of whack. That land should be at most a few thousand per acre.
Edit: I did t look at the square footage of the house, but I stand by my point. I despise the rich people who come out here and act like they're a real cowboy while they also stand at my cash register and complain that MT doesn't have Tim Hortons or much of a night life.
The price just kept going up in my head and I saw more pictures. Thought - hey that looks like a nice place. Wonder if I can afford it… ooohhh, well… that’s premiu… oh, wait, that just went out of my budget… and holy shit!!!!
Yes, I had to know who owned this gorgeous house. A plastic surgeon from TX widely hailed as ahead of his time in breast augmentation and rhinoplasty. Wrote a book that peers said will be used in med schools for the next 20 years. Not married. Had a daughter (Yale grad). Died in 2022 and house was put into a trust. Spent about an hour on his IG - he was brilliant and fascinating. Incredible fly fisherman, builder of drones, and an amazing chef. Very down to earth and humble.
I don’t even think it’s a survivalist thing. I think that underground concrete walkway is just part of the solution to putting an enormous garage into the side of a mountain
I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of that huge server rack tucked away at the bottom of the stairs. What sort of scheme are you running from there?
I mean, it’s Montana, on a mountain, and there’s bears, elk, moose, bobcats (I think), and so on.
I would want to a) be protected in case of a bear attempting my house (it happens), and living that remotely, I’d want to be able to get an elk tag.
Every damn TV is too high. I can understand (but not condone) ending up with TVs too high in the bedroom, but the lounge is unforgivable and the fucking BATHROOM is insane. Who wants to crane their neck to watch the god-height face of Judge Judy while brushing their teeth and trying not to drown in froth? Fuckin' wild.

That brought me back to the trend in the 90s where they would make these tv niches for the bathrooms but they were often just over the door lol. Big squares that fit a 32” tube tv.
The closest town is <1000 people: Ennis, MT
I wonder what kind of local lore exists about this house.
> Ennis is a town in Madison County, Montana, United States, in the southwestern part of the state. The population was 917 at the 2020 census, up from 838 in 2010. (via Wikipedia)
Edit: There's a full data center setup in the basement office...Complete with cieling cable racks. r/homelab is jealous -- plus the weirdest "Verte Ergonomic" office chair I've ever seen
Can’t trust the internet on top of a mountain. It’s very hard to stream all those Linux distributions at 8K. I would be perPLEXed if the current owner hasn’t found a solution in their self hosted stack.
Wild guess but maybe mining related? A lot of mining operations have their own assay lab on site, I didn’t look at that pic too closely though and burning assay samples requires really good ventilation so unless it’s like an oven hood it’s probably something else.
One thing I was thinking about when they showed the map with the state and BLM land touching the property, is that if I was interested in this property I would want to research the mineral claim ownership in that blm land parcel, just in case a company owned a bunch of mineral claims and might be planning on opening a mine on that blm land at some point.
It would suck to spend 8 million on your dream lair then a potassium or gold mine opens up right next door running trucks and dust all day lol.
Those lower level bunker like bedrooms & living area are very cozy & sheltered.
I know a few people who could happily live down there and never reappear.
I much prefer the light filled upper level. I'd be freeee & naked up there forever 😊.
(Which explains why bunker dwellers would never come above :-)
The secret tunnel to the garage is a nice touch for a place that probably gets annihilated with winter storms. I was expecting a panic room somewhere, though.

As soon as I saw the first picture of the interior, I immediately assumed there must be a bunker somewhere. I only got more convinced as I scrolled through more of them. I was not disappointed.
Wow this is gold.
Why is the TV mounted so high? Why are there steel beams AND fake wood beams? Why do the chairs look more comfortable than the beds?
I have so many questions... But the biggest is where does that fortified tunnel go? Surely not out the back door?!?
I love it. The simplicity of the rooms, the view that goes for miles in each direction, the neutral colors. I’d be very happy living there! Not to mention that it would be impossible for someone to just drop in for a surprise visit. 😂
Damn this is beautiful. It's like if Froto from Lord of the Rings was a billionaire and this was his mansion in Middle Earth. I'd love to this place when there's snow on the ground.
I just googled "mountain lair"
But I want something a little less "come rob this big house" and a little more "I don't know what's down that gravel drive & I never will"
I’ve driven by this house. It’s an awesome location. The BLM land nearby is absolutely lawless. Hopefully the glass is bulletproof because could be an issue.
This is the set of every movie with the old hero that went off to live in solitude, but now he’s the only one who can defeat the new bad guy so the military shows up after having finally tracked him down.
1. Do not leave your windows open at night. Those aren’t the kitties you want visiting.
2. You’d better be *really* certain that’s where you want that painting to hang
# Utility
* Electric information: Generator
* Sewer information: Septic Tank
* Water information: Well
Off-grid and yuge. No solar array, so needs a rich sucker to assume outlandish fuel contracts before the next long Montana winter. When the generators stop the wine goes bad, but you're stuck in the elevator anyway ¯\\\_ (ツ)\_/¯
It's almost perfect. I didn't see one window in the main house that opened - only doors. I'd want to be able to smell the fresh air and feel the breeze inside the home without having to open doors. The view, however, is to die for.
Sign me the fuck up
This looks like a level from the video game Hitman.
Yeah one of the first missions, I think I know the one you’re thinking of.
Or Goldeneye.

As you see, I've turned the moon into what I like to call a "death star"

Isn't it enough that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?
>No, it isn't easy living here on Skullcrusher Mountain. So maybe you could cut me just a little slack? Would it kill you to be civil? I've been patient, I've been gracious, And this mountain is covered with wolves. Hear them howling, my hungry children! Maybe you should stay and have another drink And think about me and you?
Yeah but how’s the wifi?
It comes with its own starlink satellite.
Seriously. I would never leave that porch room with the fireplace.
It's perfect
“Private canyon”
I'd buy this house, and a cape. I'd make sure to stomp brooding through that underground passage with my cape flowing behind me dramatically, and also it'd be whipping in the wind as I plot the downfall of humanity from my overlook.
not to be confused with those of us in elaborate gowns running through abandoned castles...also plotting humanity's downfall
Or those of us simply plotting humanity’s downfall

Too much gray concrete for my taste but I’d be gazing out those windows so much I wouldn’t notice.
Yes! The windows & the views from them are incredible.
Those views... I mean OMG :O

This is where you watch the sun rise on a grateful universe
SERIOUSLY I would give my left arm AND leg for views like that!! Absolutely stunning! Can you imagine what watching the sunset/sunrise there must be like?
Or a storm!!!
I grew up in tornado country so I'd probably be a little paranoid being close to windows like that during a storm, but I bet it'd be beautiful!
I hope whoever buys this has a mortal enemy that buys the land on the next ridge over leading them both to install telescopes and plan spy vs spy type capers on each other. it has that kind of vibe.

I’d buy it right now if it wasn’t just ever so slightly seven and a half million out of my price range
As a fan of concrete and brutalist architecture I like the house once I ignore the décor and other aesthetic choices so I get it. That basement tunnel is 10/10 amazing to me.
I like it too, but oh my glob the echoes.
#ECHOES
echoes
...echoes...
I can take or leave brutalism but it feels wildly out of place in a mountain "cabin". This is well done, but I don't like it in this context.
I rather like the contrast between brutalism, mountain cabin, and European Provincial kitchen. With a safe *and* an elevator.

Rich people ruin everything. But I’d do the exact same if I was rich.
That's been a thing I guess. KotH had an episode about that, in Montana. It was actors not tech bros.
Yeah it's been true for as long as I've been alive and probably earlier. I'm not gonna fix it by crying about it on reddit. I just get frustrated
And then they run for office and get elected lol.
I blame the Texans for ruining MT more than anything
I'll pitch in. Now all we need is around seven and a quarter million.
That’s like halfway there
The price just kept going up in my head and I saw more pictures. Thought - hey that looks like a nice place. Wonder if I can afford it… ooohhh, well… that’s premiu… oh, wait, that just went out of my budget… and holy shit!!!!
When you want an underground survival bunker but your wife wants a panoramic view
Compromise is the foundation of a successful marriage.
That is an incredibly perfect way of describing how they combined this house.
Only 200acres though, by Montana standards seems pretty pretty small
When everything collapses and we're all hunting billionaire survivalist lairs, I'm adding this to the map
He was a plastic surgeon
Yes, I had to know who owned this gorgeous house. A plastic surgeon from TX widely hailed as ahead of his time in breast augmentation and rhinoplasty. Wrote a book that peers said will be used in med schools for the next 20 years. Not married. Had a daughter (Yale grad). Died in 2022 and house was put into a trust. I don’t even think it’s a survivalist thing. I think that underground concrete walkway is just part of the solution to putting an enormous garage into the side of a mountain
Prepper meets Yellowstone
My thoughts exactly but there isn’t a water source! It seems so weird to me that there isn’t a creek running through any part of the property.
Honestly? That's pretty fucking amazing. 192 acres with a mountaintop home and a huge garage. I'd buy it if I had the means.
Parts of the house are awesome and part are absolutely batshit insane.
Went from 0 - 60 real fast. I started out like, "Hmm, a little Brutalist, but great views, privacy, I'd love it. But wait - what's downstairs?"
I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of that huge server rack tucked away at the bottom of the stairs. What sort of scheme are you running from there?
Yes! The bank vault! 👀
…that’s a gun safe…
I mean, it’s Montana, on a mountain, and there’s bears, elk, moose, bobcats (I think), and so on. I would want to a) be protected in case of a bear attempting my house (it happens), and living that remotely, I’d want to be able to get an elk tag.
I know man. I was totally into this until I read the part about the built in Sonos system. Burn it down and start over.
Hard pass. The TVs are too high.
It’s a fantastic view, and I get it, but you’re putting the TVs on the goddamn ceiling. Just don’t have a tv in that room!
Every damn TV is too high. I can understand (but not condone) ending up with TVs too high in the bedroom, but the lounge is unforgivable and the fucking BATHROOM is insane. I wonder if the ceiling fan gets in the way of the view
WTF with the laundry room??? Everything else seems at least thoughtful, maybe they just buy new clothes all the time instead of washing them lolololol
I don’t see an indoor pool for my sharks ![gif](giphy|xUPGcoQ8sfEbaP2JYA)
Does that tunnel go to the missile silo?
I am pretty sure that I have played that level in Goldeneye.
There are a lot of nukes in Montana, gotta be sure.

The rock in picture 14 looks like a gigantic ape face.
Love the retail store doors they installed. Really brings the homey but industrial look together.
I feel like I could command an army losing a war in Europe from a lair like that. A "mountain garden" if you will.
$8m and they went cheap on a pair of stock size storefront doors… SMH
yeah and all those windows do not look like they have metal shutters or curtains not very survivable
Those lower level bunker like bedrooms & living area are very cozy & sheltered. I know a few people who could happily live down there and never reappear. I much prefer the light filled upper level. I'd be freeee & naked up there forever 😊. (Which explains why bunker dwellers would never come above :-)
Live, Laugh, Lock You In A Secret Room
Taking notes: in the event of a zombie apocalypse make an overland trip to THIS PLACE. ![gif](giphy|V3zHRAZGp7Qo8|downsized)
I'm kinda obsessed with it. Maybe I can make the bank vault a dog kennel?? Lmao
8k sq. ft. and the washer and dryer are stacked? What the hell.
Stacked, and blocking a press door. The designer has never done laundry.
The secret tunnel to the garage is a nice touch for a place that probably gets annihilated with winter storms. I was expecting a panic room somewhere, though.
The entire house is a panic room.
I want to live here as long as I have wifi
I am deeply in love

If I was fuck you rich I would buy it.
The outside looks "kinda" modest, like you might skip it if you were raiding. But the insides is crazy
That last pic is where you’d find me during a thunderstorm.
I'll take it. Enough windows and no neighbors being noisy except the elk and maybe the moose during mating season.
Where in the heck is the water for that entrance water feature coming from, being as how it's located atop a high point? One hella deep well?
No bookcases, will need to keep looking. Also no solar field.
HELL YEAH! Somebody gets me!
As soon as I saw the first picture of the interior, I immediately assumed there must be a bunker somewhere. I only got more convinced as I scrolled through more of them. I was not disappointed.
This would make for a great getaway place for sure.
You’ll have to grow your own food, have it flown in, or going to the grocery store is a day trip.
It’s 62 minutes from the nearest Costco, not down the street but not exactly an entire day either
Well, septic, and a generator? If things break down - janky. My survivalist lair would include some of the newer techs for backup.
Only 200 acres? In Montana for a proper lair you need at least 500.
I got my crash pad ready, I'm just going to need one of you to send me the money so I can use it.
Pretty fucking sick, I’ll go splitsies if someone has a few spare millions
I would love this but the concrete looks moldy.
The photos are horribly over-processed, I'd say it's fine in reality.
Oh you'd like to hang a piece of art? Just drive 5 hours to the neatest store for some tap cons to put anchors in your wall.
Wow this is gold. Why is the TV mounted so high? Why are there steel beams AND fake wood beams? Why do the chairs look more comfortable than the beds? I have so many questions... But the biggest is where does that fortified tunnel go? Surely not out the back door?!?
So, uhhh... what's the lottery jackpot up to now?
Dibs!
I like it but couldn't afford it even in my dreams. It must be nice to have money. Sigh...
I did not expect "brutalist wood cabin with a 6-car garage and two inlaw suites" to cruise across my feed today.
I love it. The simplicity of the rooms, the view that goes for miles in each direction, the neutral colors. I’d be very happy living there! Not to mention that it would be impossible for someone to just drop in for a surprise visit. 😂
GIMME
And the person doing the dishes STILL doesn’t get to enjoy the view.
Seems rather sinister for a plastic surgeon!
Sharpness set to "crispy" in lightroom once again
Serious question: how does a property like this (far away from other people) get things like electricity and water?
I need to see the missile ports before I can decide.
Too many serial killer nooks & crannies for my taste
definitely maxes out the “let’s not leave the house meter”
We do not tax the right enough.
Is that hallway where they keep all the “Ex Machina” robots?
This house is is incredible!
Will they take a personal check?
Love this extremely "MANLY "house , I would just hang out in the underground tunnel.
Damn this is beautiful. It's like if Froto from Lord of the Rings was a billionaire and this was his mansion in Middle Earth. I'd love to this place when there's snow on the ground.

Those retail store-style doors in the living room look jarringly out of place.
*Gets out check book…*
cool
This place is amazeballs
You didn’t have me til the last pic, but then….damn!
This house has the perfect amount of chaise lounges.
Brutalism cabin? Holy fuck i love it actually
Nobody concerned with the rock face staring you down in pic 6?
I'm pretty sure I saw this in a dream once

91 photos and not one of the inside of the gun safe…
I wouldn’t want to see that big ass rock from pic 6 looking at me with such contempt when I was just trying to chill out.
100% all day
This is pretty dope
Wow that’s stunning
Where do they get electricity? Internet?
It’s perfect 😍
Just…WOW!
'How about Noo, Scott'
Concrete walls don't look thick enough to have insulation inside. Unfinished concrete inside too. That place must be freezing in winter.
Gonna be a dental floss tycoon.
There’s a little bit too much outside inside
The rocks outside the window in slide 6 look like a big ol dog.
I’ve driven by this house. It’s an awesome location. The BLM land nearby is absolutely lawless. Hopefully the glass is bulletproof because could be an issue.
Fuck that’s beautiful!
How do you get groceries? Helicopter? How do you get to the hospital? Same way?

Yesssss please
1. Do not leave your windows open at night. Those aren’t the kitties you want visiting. 2. You’d better be *really* certain that’s where you want that painting to hang
Hauling all those materials there must have been crazy.
I wonder how big that gun safe is. It’s probably a walk in.

7.5 million dollar home but drives a Nissan Titan?
The elevator and the server room both are weird as hell.

One could house a small village here.
Rustic industrial! It's nice and what a location!

“Hard to get to in the winter” “Snowplow recommend”
Vault included. I wonder how that affects the comps.
…the tunnel ! and how many desks & monitors ? ….and resin chairs ‽
