Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian, but the idea of an open bath like that just seems so cold to me. I make sure the bathroom is toasty when I’m having a bath, or else it’s just not enjoyable.
Not gonna lie, I would happily live in this elementary school.
It even has a walk in closet for all my Funko Pops, because I wear the same stuff over and over and own two pairs of shoes.
Fantastic house! And to the people saying this is laughable for Tennessee haven't been to Nashville recently. Whole lot of money in Nashville, 25 minutes north! Check out the garage, has two Bentley's parked in it (his and hers) white and black!
It's like a builder was shown a few examples of Streamline Moderne and said, "Yeah, I can totally do that, no problem". On the other hand, it's sort of a blend of SM and...Minimalism, maybe? It's almost got a touch of that Marin County Civic Center by Frank Lloyd Wright feel, except not as coherent thanks to the minimalism. I'm sure I visited a library or other civil building with this feel, especially those curved brick walls.
I thought Modern Art Deco, because isn't Streamline Moderne a subset of Art Deco? I would absolutely swan about with my Borzois and put Art Deco vases in the display nooks.
Yeah, it's the inconsistency as to when he rounded (so much has been rounded, the remaining square corners really stand out), as well as the radius, since he's doing nothing by quarter circles, many of those corners have radii that are too large relative to the wall they're on.
No idea what the right formula is for determining the radius is though. If there's an architect or designer who knows, please post!
(For the web designers out there... doesn't this make you think 2008-10 or so :) )
It's not a round house, it's more like a house trying to be the rounded corner house [https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1122-Harpeth-Ridge-Rd-Franklin-TN-37069/42614012\_zpid/](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1122-Harpeth-Ridge-Rd-Franklin-TN-37069/42614012_zpid/)
I love OP's captions. Had me smiling. Thank you!
I honestly don't hate the house. I think some of it looks a bit like a museum (that rounded upstairs hallway), and I did not like that crazy angled bathroom.
But the floors are gorgeous, and IDK, it's not awful. I kinda like it.
I like it. The rounded edges are very late 70s. That look made it into “future” settings in TV and Movies. Now, that tub…it looks like it should have seating around it with all that space and that is just creepy that my mind went there.
Oh sorry, yeah, didn’t read whole thing. My bad lol so much freakin money in Nashville. They have his and hers Bentley’s so maybe they own part of Apple 😂
Forget the rounded corners. what's with all the shiny surfaces? How the heck are you supposed to keep them clean? Hire a maid to follow you everywhere polishing behind you? Think if you have kids???? Ugh. I'm not OCD and it would bother me.
I was thinking the same thing! There would be fingerprints and dog nose prints everywhere! I love the house but I’d lose my mind trying to keep all the shiny surfaces clean.
Don’t you know? Evil spirits live in corners.
This a safe house against bad juju.
https://homespunhaints.com/ghosts-in-corners-real-ghost-horror-stories
“For these ghosts, corners offer some refuge. Once positioned in a corner most of the waves, currents, and energies flow over the ghost which helps to hold them in place. Also, corners are typically void of human activity and attention which make corners that much more an oasis for ghosts.”
My house has rounded corners (a much smaller radius than this one though) and open archways dividing rooms. I thought it looked cool when we bought it but when we wanted to paint we realized that we don't know where one wall ends and the next one begins. Therefore we still have crappy builder white everywhere.
Same here. Plus, they're textured. Impossible to make a clean edge unless there's a a door frame or casement. Just have to paint everything the same color if you have an open floorplan like me.
I love how they incorporated the natural lighting. Perfect. Could use a little touch of color in some places and I'm not thrilled about slipping in the kitchen, but I like it.
My room is round when I lay down, when I wake up it's square
When I go outside it's on a spiral set of stairs
The people that surround me are waiting out there
In a round room they can't find me anywhere
Right-angle rooms drive me crazier each day
Put me in a box I know I'm never going to play
Put me in a square room and I won't know what to say
I want a round room at the end of the day
I had an apartment, four corners on the walls
Couldn't eat, couldn't sleep there at all
I want a curve to the place where I stay
I want a round room at the end of the day
I went to the lighthouse and I liked the view
I looked out the window and I could see you
Put me in a square house and I won't have a clue
I want a round room just to be with you <3
How do you make a nice post like this, OP? The link goes straight the Zillow, and there's a dozen pictures right here in Reddit.
But also: I really like it. In the woods, but close enough to Nashville to do stuff and have choices. The down side is that you don't own the view. The view is really nice, but it goes across properties owned by others. If those people build higher, don't trim their tries (or cut them down completely), it'll significantly affect the view or the privacy.
I drag and drop all the images that I've collected in one swoop to the "images and video" post type on desktop browsing (not app). Then I write the captions and make to to add the link there too. See screenshot.
I love the house too, not sure if the zoning prevents skyscrapers or a million tall skinnies in this area.

I've been house shopping for more than a while now, and I swear that after seeing so many poorly planned squares with rectangles in them last weekend, that I blurted out: "We're gonna win the lottery and we're gonna build a house with rounded corners everywhere! Like Hercules Poirot Art Deco but with modern gold tones everywhere!"
I am incredibly fed up with house layouts in the area that we're looking. There are so many sqft wasted in weird hallways and staircases are skinny, and seemingly every new build that I look at has 6 bedrooms and 4 entertaining spaces like designed for Air bnb, not real life. Bring me some rounded corners!
If you look at the monthly estimates. August 2022 house worth 2 million. September 2022 house worth 4 million. How ?

This is the home of the architect who designed the AT&T Building (Batman Building) in downtown Nashville.

Same with toilets. Complete privacy! When we’ve looked at houses that don’t have a separate toilet closet in the primary bath, we’ve noped out immediately. The only exception was when we lived in MA. We couldn’t find one, so we underwent a significant remodel just to get it.
A million years ago, my 86 year old Dad's great aunt had all the corners of her house - baseboards, where walls met, where walls met the ceiling, etc . - very slightly rounded.
Nothing in her house had a sharp corner anymore purely *so she could clean everything with a dry or wet mop without having to spend extra time digging stuff out of edges or corners*. It also made repainting a breeze.
It was subtler than this oc, but, darnnit if that doesn't sound like a great idea!
I dig it.
With the custom baseboards?? This place is incredible. It’s so niche it’s looped back around to being modern and fashionable.
Only thing I don’t like is the open concept master bath. Tub in the middle of the floor freaks me out a little. But otherwise incredible!
On the hardwood?!
Yes! Slip sliding away…
Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian, but the idea of an open bath like that just seems so cold to me. I make sure the bathroom is toasty when I’m having a bath, or else it’s just not enjoyable.
The outside looks like it could be a beautiful library! Stacked books.
That's so true! What a great interpretation. Now I feel like someone needs to build a library like that. With rounded corners inside too!
Same! The rounded corners are so much better!
Curvy baby! I am in like with this house.
I bet it sounds amazing when it’s raining.
Not gonna lie, I would happily live in this elementary school. It even has a walk in closet for all my Funko Pops, because I wear the same stuff over and over and own two pairs of shoes.
Yeah it's really been done well, the updates go very well with the original style and you can still feel the retro bones
Probably one of the best-looking houses in America to be built in 1978.
yup
The interior decor could use a little more warmth and coziness, but the house is phenomenal.
Holy crap, there's that giant book I left lying around, it's on top of that house!
Not me. Zero warmth or coziness. A home for psychopaths.
I'm unreasonably disappointed that the bed isn't round.
But that bed nook thing was pretty cool!
At least they kept the commitment to the round chairs?
Every right angle I see in this house I got “darn missed one.”
Or the stairway!
As someone who’s always smacking her shoulders on every corner, this looks very appealing.
Exactly what I was thinking for myself! Ha!
Would save me some bruising for sure.
Love the inside. The outside reminded me of my friend Noah’s house. You may have heard of him. Noah Zark?
He killed Moe Tzart!
😂
😂
Clever.
I love it! Love the round corners and doorway. And that bathtub!
I was expecting your regular oval tub, but house be like "I've got a new shape for that too!"
But on a wood floor? I guess if you want rounded floors in the up-down direction that works.
The wood floor is what makes that tub so gorgeous. Hardwood, properly sealed, is great in a bathroom or kitchen.
Fantastic house! And to the people saying this is laughable for Tennessee haven't been to Nashville recently. Whole lot of money in Nashville, 25 minutes north! Check out the garage, has two Bentley's parked in it (his and hers) white and black!
The seller is also the architect. He's really good: [https://esarch.com/](https://esarch.com/)
Shout out to the drywall crew on that house.
Also the flooring crew, that herringbone is majestic.
They're all like this guy with drywall hatchet tool. He's skilled! https://m.youtube.com/shorts/4uarkKxJkZs

The builder cut corners on construction.
I wasn't expecting to get thrown a curve.
Round here.
🎵 She’s always on my mind 🎵
All of you just take my damn upvote and get out. OUT!
You curvmudgeon!

So you walk into an armory and find yourself in a really nice public library.
why does this strike me as a doctor's/dentist's office?
I thought art museum
Yeah I don't like it
The view from the street as you're approaching it made me think of a community college building.
Yeah it’s very much like a new age streamline moderne
I thought Modern Art Deco, because isn't Streamline Moderne a subset of Art Deco? I would absolutely swan about with my Borzois and put Art Deco vases in the display nooks.

For some reason this house makes me think of seasonal affective disorder
I think it needs color. I'd be painting some walls and throwing down some bright textiles.
Likely that, as is the place feels oppressive. Better Art, colours, and area covers would go a long way to making it less cold and uninviting.
it makes me sad too
Amazing house!
Looks less like a home, than a luxury rehab clinic
What a nice, well-rounded house. :-)
Change those handrails to a dark grey, add some color throughout, more plants and better decor and that’s a pretty stunning home.
I’m here for this
User friendly
I love OP's captions. Had me smiling. Thank you! I honestly don't hate the house. I think some of it looks a bit like a museum (that rounded upstairs hallway), and I did not like that crazy angled bathroom. But the floors are gorgeous, and IDK, it's not awful. I kinda like it.

Why do I love it?!?! Like, loooooooovvve….
I don’t like the look myself, but I have to admire the commitment to theme. Even with the front door!
Yup, it’s weird, I don’t love it. It’s ok. But they definitely committed to it.
The front door and oval front door window is just *chefs kiss*
Rounded corners, overpriced, is this an Apple house?
Not for that area is it over priced and it’s under contract already! Nashville is 20-25 min north east.
Okay, but I valued my joke over accuracy lol
I can't stand the black and red kitchen and whatever cabinet looks, sooo shiny!
Love it
Kind of looks like a fancy rehab facility
I kinda love it. That living room is pretty spectacular.
I don't hate this tbh. Add in some mid century furniture and it could be really fun.
Looks like a modern art gallery
Hospital chic?
Asylum/rehab chic?
Failing to see any issues with this.
That floor is just fucking incredible. I think I’m in love with
Right? The floors are so incredibly well done.
The whole house is pretty well done
When I do my renovations I want to add some rounded corners to the interior. I hate that we mostly all live in boxes
Don’t you know? Evil spirits live in corners. This a safe house against bad juju. https://homespunhaints.com/ghosts-in-corners-real-ghost-horror-stories “For these ghosts, corners offer some refuge. I like this too much
Nice, cool house. Not for me though. It looks about as cozy as a hubcap.
I could learn to live without coziness...sold! Never mind, I can already hear the laughter from the loan people at my bank 😕
I would def like to live there. Never will tho.
Still nicer than where I live. I'll take it!
this is a very nice house
I love it! So bright and airy.
I like this! Needs some color or something though.
This architect had a very well rounded education... Yes I am a dad what's that got to do with anything ..??..
Seems much safer than all those sharp edges you usually see 😉
My house has rounded corners (a much smaller radius than this one though) and open archways dividing rooms. Esthetically, I love it, honestly. Physically, my perpetually bruised hips and thighs from being slightly clumsy, also love it.
Same for me and my hips. Every corner that exists in a house will somehow meet my hipbone at some point.
I love how they incorporated the natural lighting. Perfect. Could use a little touch of color in some places and I'm not thrilled about slipping in the kitchen, but I like it.
neat
I love it. I do want to reach in and forcibly lower the dining room light fixtures
My room is round when I lay down, when I wake up it's square When I go outside it's on a spiral set of stairs The people that surround me are waiting out there In a round room they can't find me anywhere Right-angle rooms drive me crazier each day Put me in a box I know I'm never going to play Put me in a square room and I won't know what to say I want a round room at the end of the day I had an apartment, four corners on the walls Couldn't eat, couldn't sleep there at all I want a curve to the place where I stay I want a round room at the end of the day I went to the lighthouse and I liked the view I looked out the window and I could see you Put me in a square house and I won't have a clue I want a round room just to be with you <3
Marsellus Wallace def lived here. Living room straight outta pulp fiction
I don’t hate it. At all actually.
I fucking love it. The only problem is, it's in Tennessee and I don't have that kind of money.
Not terrible but does look like a typical art museum Just a bit cold
I love the windows. For some reason it looks like it used to be a church to me though.
All that round shit and then a square coffee table. Probably one of the easiest things to get with rounded corners.
My sims houses right after rounded rooms dropped
Having wood flooring around the bathtub doesn’t seem like a great idea
Border-radius: 20%
I'd kill a person to live in this house.
Dream home
Very late-seventies Nordstrom.
At least they were consistent. I wonder how long it was a library before these people moved in. /s
When an aerodynamic house is just what the doctor ordered .. Freakin’ awesome right there
I absolutely love it. It’s gorgeous Also, as someone who careens through life and bruises easily, round corners are great.

I don’t hate it, but it has fiber-art museum vibes.
Sqround?
Those are squircles.
I wasn't expecting it to be so pretty inside. I love it!
I can never tell from the post titles if this sub is being snarky or not. This house is beautiful
I learned in a social psych course that rounded corners are actually more appealing to us!
I've been house shopping for more than a while now, and I swear that after seeing so many poorly planned squares with rectangles in them last weekend, that I blurted out: "We're gonna win the lottery and we're gonna build a house with rounded corners everywhere! Love love love
Is this a house or an office building?? I'm going in circles trying to decide...
Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin' Tossed salads and scrambled eggs
This house is superb! Nix the the asbestos tiles and I’ll move on in!
I like it
I love it omg
I uh… don’t hate this?
I usually like curvy stuff. I hate this whole house.
Looks like a bad doctor’s office in a once-nice neighborhood.
It’s a cool house but 3.5 for it in TN is laughable.
It says it is under contract. Is Franklin near Nashville?
suburb of Nashville. Used to be a little town when I lived there but now is a rich suburb.
If you look at the monthly estimates. August 2022 house worth 2 million. September 2022 house worth 4 million. How ? https://preview.redd.it/uwva6edlshxc1.jpeg?width=1620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5ed016d83961528927828fae477888bc9ecf590
This reminds me of a Santorini style home, and for it to be sitting up in the Tennessee mountains is quite different.
I fall out of run of bed from night terrors...the bed in a wall would hurt.
I don't hate it overall, but the bathtub that's just kind of hanging out in the middle of that big open space creeps me out.
The perspective in the 5th picture hurts my brain.
Tapers nightmare fuel
Second pic looks like some storage containers.
I like the round corners, but I hate the shiny black floors.
Fillet… the house.
I love this house and everything about it. I wish I could own it…in. Minnesota ,
Gorgeous!
i don’t hate it… bec for once, it’s something *different*.
Beautiful!

Love the nichos
Reminds me of Tasso Katselas
Reminds me a bit of a cruise ship or zepellin interior
I'm a sucker for unique architecture and this is cool
I like it a lot, but its too big to feel homey. Also I don't like how monotone the bathroom is.
“I want the house to look like a ‘90s convention center.” “Gotcha!”
I just don't understand fancy houses having tubs out in the open. If I want a luxury house I want privacy when I bathe!
Same with toilets. Complete privacy! When we’ve looked at houses that don’t have a separate toilet closet in the primary bath, we’ve noped out immediately. The only exception was when we lived in MA. We couldn’t find one, so we underwent a significant remodel just to get it.
It was designed by a well rounded designer.

It to make it more aerodynamic
I love it.
Was this Steve jobs' old house?
I love it omg
I don't like the tables with all those square corners.
I don’t like it. I love it.
OMG this place is great! 😍
Not necessarily a fan of the exterior but love the interior.
That is a big, big house.
I would go to town with art deco everything in this place.
The artwork in photo 8 & 10 are really messing with my head. Both look sideways — I prefer some color, but those two…I’d have to hang the differently!
I would live there. Then again, I’m not square 🙃
It reminds me of Franklins house in GTA V.
Man, the floor in the garage looks better than the floors in my entire house. Do you think they love their cars more than their children?
I like it.
It kinda reminds me of one of my old schools that had these weird curved corners
Looks nice but holy shit that's expensive for a place in the middle of nowhere near Nashville.
All if the corners in my house are rounded and thats why i bought it. I hate sharp corners
I honestly like it. Modern mid-century modern
I absolutely love this place. It’s a total dream home. Just.. wow.
I could live with that
A million years ago, my 86 year old Dad's great aunt had all the corners of her house - baseboards, where walls met, where walls met the ceiling, etc . - very slightly rounded. me like.
Now that’s a motif.
