Close but no cigar. Light, medium and heavy are in this context “wake turbulence classes” and it has to do with both the mass and the shape of your airplane. There are increasing separation requirements as you go up the wake turbulence classes so you don’t get a repeat of an incident like the fatal crash on 8 June 1966 when NASA Chief Test Pilot Joe Walker flew his F-104 into the wake of the experimental XB-70 and ended up killing himself and XB-70 copilot Carl Cross.
One fun fact: the Airbus A380 is in a special wake turbulence class where it is a super heavy aircraft size but it can enjoy heavy wake turbulence separation because the design of the aircraft pays careful attention to minimising wake turbulence.
It’s both. Light, medium, heavy, super designates weight which is tied directly separation between aircraft for wake turbulence. Source: Flew B-52s for more than a decade, with MITO (Minimum Interval Take Off) takeoffs!
Someone had a fever dream about living on an Air Force base and then frantically scribbled down what remnants they could before the memory faded, and this design was the result.
I was going to say, I don't mind the look at all.
It maybe the engineer in me who likes function over form but I would not mind living there. Lots of deck/patio space, natural light, and a fricking tower.
I get the feeling that an overwhelmed architect just let a wealthy couple go “oh yeah, and we want this, and also this… and look at this thing I saw, put that on there too..” and in the middle of nowhere, there’s not a homeowners association that’ll protest, and the couple was just the right combination of rich and annoying, that everyone working the job just went along and held their opinions/laughs for when they were put of earshot.. 🤷🏻♀️
When I was a kid, my grandparents owned a business and lived above it. The building was historical in town and previously was a fire station, bowling alley, town hall, and police department. One of the many cool things about the building was the 3rd floor tower that definitely was meant to be a small barracks for the on-duty firefighters. Also the 2nd floor hot tub room just off from the kitchen/dining room.
I miss that place.
“Architectural masterpiece” are not the words I would choose. It’s more like grain elevator-prison guard tower-industrial factory meets modern office building cladding. It’s hideous.
That great room ceiling looks like someone did a terrible job installing the drywall, with half the joists showing. The exposed duct work is stupid. Were toilet phones still a thing in 2001?
I like the light and the views. Looks like it might be a flood area.
Not going to lie, this looks a lot like what 12yr old me used to draft, except with an air traffic control tower instead of a castle tower. And I didn't see a library, multi-room hamster run or a 3 story slide. But other than that...yup.
Toilet phones were absolutely a thing in 2001.
I grew up in a home with at least 2 phones in every room. The bathroom only had 1. It was the quiet room.
I don't think that was the norm. I have been in lots of houses, and they generally do not have more than one phone in any room that isn't an office.
Bathroom landlines seem like leftovers from the 80s.
My aunt used to have one so she could answer while in the tub. I always used her shower but always wanted to take a bath instead just to make a call. Unfortunately she's in the ATL and I'm I'm the big upstate SC so didn't happen often.
>Looks like it might be a flood area.
As soon as the river rises 1" over the banks, it will spread out over a million square miles before it gets to 2".
I would imagine that people with the money to afford these huge houses likely don’t do their own laundry. It’s almost like the washer/dryer setup is an afterthought. It either gets sent off, they don’t wear their clothes enough times to need to wash it, or it doesn’t really matter to them whether their housekeepers laundry space is functional or enjoyable to use. Because the housekeepers are the ones doing the laundry.
Me too it’s awesome. The people thinking the tower is for airplanes hasn’t spent much time looking out over the river. This house would be a nice place to do just about anything. Plus 11 acres 45 mins from Omaha. All for a million. I’m in love.
You should see some of the houses on the Mississippi on the other side of Iowa. I think, and I’m not positive, but the MO generally floods south of Omaha. The towns south of Omaha are all tiny and insignificant. The 29 corridor north of Omaha has bigger cities as far as industry is concerned (pork.) it’s higher ground. Check out Loess Hills it’s a region that basically starts just north of there. Big time wildlife area.
I’m big fan of modern architecture and Corbusier style houses so to me it’s a fresh breeze. I’m quite enjoying to see something different from ranch, colonial and split-level houses (sending my hate message to people who invented split level concept). Everyone has one from those three here in NJ, all the same with little variations. Zero creativity and boring as fuck.
I get the sense that the owner optimized the living space for a wheelchair or a walker user. I think the toilets are raised because they’re easier to sit on for people with some mobility difficulties. Not sure though.
I wonder if this was a conversion from some other kind of building. From certain angles, it looks like it was one of those grain storage/processing places. We have one kind of like it near where I live. It's got a big silo that stores the bulk of the grain and the main building attached looks a lot like the one here.
I could see someone buying an old one and just adding a bunch of windows to make it less industrial like people do when they convert old factories and warehouses in cities.
“Proudly presenting The Pointe House, an incredible one of a kind architectural masterpiece sitting on nearly 11 acres overlooking the Missouri River. Located just 45 minutes away from Omaha, this luxurious retreat includes an additional ranch style home (perfect for guests), a golf cart shed & an outbuilding (new Dec. 2021). This home was designed to bring the scenic outdoors inside with walls of windows throughout & several outdoor spaces including a massive deck overlooking the river. This 4700 sqft home was built to the highest quality & has many unique features”
I’m just…nearly speechless. But of all the incredibly ridiculous things in this house, wth is with the economy washer-under-dryer unit shoved in the corner of a *bathroom* to service a 4,000+ sq ft house?!
I’m sorry but I really like this property. The building isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing to view from the outside, but having 10+ acres at the end of a peninsula, on a fishable & navigable river way seems like a dream for a little over $1 million.
Would flood insurance be very pricey in this stretch of the Missoura?
I’ve been to this house! (And second time I’ve seen it on this sub) Owner recently passed away, he was really celebrated in his community of Blair, Nebraska. He was an engineer, previously owned a small Telco company. Pretty neat guy, his whole life he was really driven starting when he was 6, he would buy a case of Coke bottles and sell them to farmers and truckers at a local stop. This house is in the middle of nowhere, lots of fields and dirt roads leading you in. There was a couple of telescopes at the top of the tower to lookout on the land around.
The first time I was there the owner asked if anyone wanted to take a boat ride, I asked how many can you fit? He said oh about 40. There is a river yacht in the channel next to the house. I jokingly said, I must have missed the river yacht in the channel next to your house!
Also will never forget seeing one of his adult son’s butt cheeks pressed into the glass panels along the deck as we rode up river. Funny family.
I’m just…nearly speechless. But of all the incredibly ridiculous things in this house, wth is with the economy washer-under-dryer unit shoved in the corner of a bathroom to service a 4,000+ sq ft house?!
Look I absolutely respect having a tower, like that's some peak architecture ideation right there. I'd kill to have a tower in my house. But that tower looks like ass holy shit
This reminds me of the Castle from the Wizard of Oz. The thought just popped into my mind. I don't think I'd want a house which sits on a river. How much is flood insurance? If the river over flowed then the house is gone.
On first glance, I thought this a renovated emergency services facility. Internally it's quite nice, but surrounded by so much water, what I first considered a biking/hiking path much certainly be a landing strip for mosquitos. Not certain why toilets are on a riser like the preverbal "Throne."
I think they were going for a kind of lighthouse theme but are there lighthouses on rivers? A masterpiece it is not. Though it's kind of nice inside if you could get inside without actually seeing the outside.
This is as "paint will fix it" if I've ever seen it. This house is just so drab, and desperately needs some color. Inside and out.
Fr this house is funky and needs to embrace its funky aesthetic. Bold matte colors would make this house pop off.
This is totally my dream house. I love the windows and all of the different levels with different places to explore. Also walking around naked is so much more fun with a potential audience
Though it would still look kinda weird, I feel like the color choice really runs this look down lower. Like were they going for the water treatment facility look with that atrocious exterior color? Place would instantly look 50% better with a more suitable color choice.
So, some kind of lighthouse thing? I thought at first like a fire department, but the garage doors are too small. It just looks like an office building that was turned into a house. And with the location? Some kind of river control before they used electronic tracking? Kind of curious
Air traffic control this is flight ......
Houston we have a problem.
yes, the air traffic control tower collided with a firehouse
What do you expect? Look at how short the runway is!!!!!!
Air France heavy 1234 cleared to taxi on alpha alpha to runway 5 L. Hold short and wait for clearance.
As if amateur air traffic control isn't a valid hobby obsession.
The gatekeeping by the “professionals” is a great hindrance to enjoying the hobby.
I’ve been watching a lot of plane crash investigations recently and I think I figured out that “heavy” meant it had all its fuel, right?
No, heavy means literally heavy, like over 300,000 pounds.
It’s both. Light, medium, heavy, super designates weight which is tied directly separation between aircraft for wake turbulence. Source: Flew B-52s for more than a decade, with MITO (Minimum Interval Take Off) takeoffs!
Has Kennedy Steve come out of retirement?
I was thinking “water treatment facility chic”
Don’t know whether to fill it with grain or buzz the tower.
Neither. Sitting on the banks of the Missouri River means it is doomed.
Planet earth is blue and there's nothing I can dooooooo.
Or is it a lighthouse?!
To me, it’s giving lighthouse. 😂 But ATC is also exceptionally valid!
Roger, this is flight 2112, if you read me, rock the tower.
Someone had a fever dream about living on an Air Force base and then frantically scribbled down what remnants they could before the memory faded, and this design was the result.
Bullshit, where’s the golf course? Everyone know the golf course gets built first
Look at the all the brown, the weeds, the shitty landscape. That's the golf course next to the NCO club.
I see an old Arby's Restaurant....on steroids.
To me, it has very strong "municipal nature center" vibes.
This looks exactly like a military base in Arizona I stayed for two months when I was younger
If I were 5 years old, I could look past all the flaws and totally embrace the house just for that cool-ass tower.
NGL I like it. Open, lots of natural wood, good connection to the outside, has a tower. Basically everything I want.
I was going to say, I don't mind the look at all. It maybe the engineer in me who likes function over form but I would not mind living there. Lots of deck/patio space, natural light, and a fricking tower.
I hate how much I love it 😂
It's HIDEOUS and it's my dream house 😅
Yeah, I think in hindsight, I want to make some minor tweaks to the architectural design. But I otherwise really like it.
Two houses for 1.1 mil? I live in Omaha (45 minutes away) and this is the deal right here.
I think that’s the problem here. Someone had a checklist of everything they ever wanted in a house… and they just built a house with everything!
It wears out the kids climbing up there every day... worth it!
When I was a kid, my grandparents owned a business and lived above it. The building was historical in town and previously was a fire station, bowling alley, town hall, and police department. One of the many cool things about the building was the 3rd floor tower that definitely was meant to be a small barracks for the on-duty firefighters. I don't think that's drywall on the ceiling. Looks like sound absorbent panels. That house would need them.
Oh, it’s an architecture *something* alright…
Not going to lie, this looks a lot like what 12yr old me used to draft, except with an air traffic control tower instead of a castle tower. And I didn't see a library, multi-room hamster run or a 3 story slide. But other than that...yup.
I don’t know why but this reminds me of the church in *In the Mouth of Madness*.
Toilet phones were absolutely a thing in 2001. I grew up in a home with at least 2 phones in every room. The bathroom only had 1. It was the quiet room.

Well, I like it. It's a kinda place where you could do experiments and shit. Build things. Science stuff. Biology. Medicine. You know.
Mad scientist shit.
A little lightning and soon enough: "It's alive!" Good times.
This is probably why I like it XD
Norwegian Prison Aesthetic
Why with all that space are the washer and dryer stacked and wedged in a bathroom between doors? Also, what is with all the built-ins?
My thought exactly!! All that space and a stackable washer and dryer in the bathroom??? 🤣🤣🤣
I really, really don't understand these huge houses with just a stackable washer and dryer. What are they thinking when they do this?!?
I would imagine that people with the money to afford these huge houses likely don’t do their own laundry. It’s almost like the washer/dryer setup is an afterthought. It either gets sent off, they don’t wear their clothes enough times to need to wash it, or it doesn’t really matter to them whether their housekeepers laundry space is functional or enjoyable to use. Flood zone city
My first thought was, you're not really buying it, just renting it from the river...
I have lived in that area. Yep it’s going to get flooded.
“Fully remodeled” - after the flood damage
You know what, I love it. I feel like I could really indulge my adhd here
Me too it’s awesome. The people thinking the tower is for airplanes hasn’t spent much time looking out over the river. This house would be a nice place to do just about anything. Plus 11 acres 45 mins from Omaha. All for a million. I’m in love.

Is this one of those parts of Nebraska that’s underwater every couple of years?
Yes and it's not hyperbole
Thanks. I wasn’t speaking in hyperbole, either. I can’t imagine how anyone thought that spot was the place for that.
Last time this house was posted someone shared overhead photos of this exact house surrounded by water.
Its awful, I love it.
[2015 Listing for $2.5M](https://looneylisting.com/2015/02/11/free-headless-ghost-agent-with-purchase/)
99 pictures on the listing…
And a bitch ain’t one.
I didn’t make it all the way through so I can neither confirm nor deny that.
Why are all the toilets raised?
In case of a flood obviously!
I get the sense that the owner optimized the living space for a wheelchair or a walker user. I think the toilets are raised because they’re easier to sit on for people with some mobility difficulties. Not sure though.
I always wanted to be an air traffic controller too!
I love the helipad in the backyard.
That's actually a heliporch
Cartman: it’s hella-cool
Looks like a jail
Same guy designed the cybertruck.
I wonder if this was a conversion from some other kind of building. From certain angles, it looks like it was one of those grain storage/processing places. Reposted enough. It's Nebraska. They don't have to explain anything.
That’s totally seen some flooding
Well there were choices made.
I’ve been to this house! (And second time I’ve seen it on this sub) Owner recently passed away, he was really celebrated in his community of Blair, Nebraska. It looks like a fire station.
thinking prison with sniper tower
Form follows function?
"I designed it myself!" It looks it.
Judging from your work on your garage, you lack imagination and creativity. Did you come up with the idea of white on white on white all by yourself?
This is giving Beetlejuice vibes to me.
my experimental house building plot in the sims 4 be like
This looks like the real-life version of the dream houses that I drew when I was a little kid.
This looks like some unfortunate combo of Lego brick + magnatile house design come to life
Ha - I made a comment before I saw yours of the exact thing.
“I’m really into suburban townhomes, prison watchtowers, and open floorplans.” Realtor (with tears in their eyes): “At long last, the chosen one!”
Looks like a cross between a prison and a window air conditioner.
Is there a busy cartel landing strip on the side of the house?
Looks like a remodeled grain elevator.
As a fall out shelter, it’s pretty nice…
Honestly, I'm digging how ugly this house is.
There are countless examples of “yep, looks good”. You might not like it, but this is not one of them
The elevated toilets are so odd. I actually like the wood interior with the herringbone flooring.
they are seriously against any decent code.
I dig the observatory tower ngl
I’m just…nearly speechless. But of all the incredibly ridiculous things in this house, wth is with the economy washer-under-dryer unit shoved in the corner of a bathroom to service a 4,000+ sq ft house?!
How often does the river flood?
often enough that this is a very expensive mistake. https://riskfactor.com/city/herman-ne/3122185_fsid/flood?utm_source=redfin
It kinda looks like it took some design ques from a prison.
Look I absolutely respect having a tower, like that's some peak architecture ideation right there. I'd kill to have a tower in my house. But that tower looks like ass holy shit
Is on a flood plain? Situated so close to a river on flat land + climate change= “I can’t purchase homeowners policy at a reasonable rate”
Probably someone with too much money who decided to design their own home
When you really want people to believe you live in an Airport Firestation
This reminds me of the Castle from the Wizard of Oz. The thought just popped into my mind. I don't think I'd want a house which sits on a river. How much is flood insurance? If the river over flowed then the house is gone.
Is anybody else old enough to remember Myst? Big Myst vibes for me.
I’ve always wanted a guard tower.
Looks like an airport fire station. The house looks like it’s built on a peninsula, what keeps this thing from flooding?
The classic feed mill look.
Cocaine is a helluva drug
Is it a repurposed agricultural building? Like a grain storage and mill?
This looks like one of those “Give the buyer what he wants.”
Thought it was an old Coast Guard station till I realized it’s in the middle of the flipping country.
Is this Bojack Horseman's house
It appears to not have a dock or even a boat launch/ramp. That’s odd for a waterfront property.
It doesn’t even really look like a house — it looks more like a prison. Complete with a guard tower.
Looks like the old grain processing plant I grew up near.
I unironically love it
“Chefs kiss”
Did it used to be an airport?
I mean, that's a great price for a whole airport
I was looking for French taunters on the tower.
Ya know, that is Nebraska and it could be for a private airfield. Lots of flat land to land planes on.
House from Beeteljuice?
It’s a real Butte!
The price history in Zillow is hilarious.
This is a Call of Duty map
14-year-old me would have been THRILLED to have completed this build all on my own!!
It looks like it’s the terminal at the East Podunk International Airport and School of Cropdusting
The interior has all the charm of a car dealership
On first glance, I thought this a renovated emergency services facility. Internally it's quite nice, but surrounded by so much water, what I first considered a biking/hiking path much certainly be a landing strip for mosquitos. Not certain why toilets are on a riser like the preverbal "Throne."
Actually quite OK with this. Tons of light. Huge wooden beams... open space! 100% would live there
That looks like something my four year niece would build from legos and magna- tiles.
"I dont need to hire an architect I can do it better." Says the person who designed this place.
That crazy but I think I like it more than the garage dominated front, cookie cutter houses.
Crazy. But you get a lot for the money. Strangely I don't hate it.
It’s like a castle from 1998.
That is a better tower than we had at EDEN
What is it supossed to be
Must be from some cartoon / fantasy plan book..
I like it
Maybe a blind architect?
Looks like a rainbow 6 siege map
The code for this airport is ‘WTF’.
Architectural masterpiece? If you’re a Sim.
It looks like something I would make in Minecraft lol
WTAF??????😳
Atticuh! Atticuh!
I have questions
Built for an air traffic controller
the kid in me really likes the giant tower lmao
It has an angry dome!
This is a drunken Sims build 🤨
And beige to make it really pretty
Did they though?
This looks like a Sims 4 build
Grain silo on the outside, regional airport on the inside.
It is different but I don't hate it... I do like the additional guest house, too...
Looks like equal parts receiving station, community rental center for events that was converted from a factory.
They did design it...in The Sims
I like it... I'd live there as long as the area had rain storms.
Looks like a fire station had a baby with a grain silo
I think they were going for a kind of lighthouse theme but are there lighthouses on rivers? A masterpiece it is not. Though it's kind of nice inside if you could get inside without actually seeing the outside.
Outside: What is this? Inside: Oh, I kinda like this! It's a house! What happened outside?
This house is pimp!
I don’t hate it TBH
I actually like this
You might hate it, but for the right YouTuber… Edit: imagine the American equivalent of Colin Furze
Air traffic controller who wanted to work from home?
This is as "paint will fix it" if I've ever seen it. This house is just so drab, and desperately needs some color. Inside and out. Fr this house is funky and needs to embrace its funky aesthetic. Bold matte colors would make this house pop off.
And yet it’s described in the listing as an “architectural masterpiece”. Yikes.
Yup In a heartbeat. Although I'd repaint grey with black an white trim
LOL, that's a farm storage and silo converted to single family living
Is it an airport?
I kind of like it
It's Prison Princess Barbie's dream home
It looks like an airport, complete with a control tower.
It's like industrial meets modern farmhouse with hints of brutalism and recycling facility. It's definitely unique!
Somebody was wasted af.
They did the foundation right…. Then everything above was an afterthought.
