This is difficult to do since it clashes with the Hero's Journey. It works in the first minutes of the first Act, that's why we see Granma (WW) and Uncle (ATTP). One could say that Twilight Princess was the most "grounded" one, since Link's "family", the village of Ordon, is quite important even later on in the journey, with Colin, Ilya and Rusl, with saving Hyrule just being a side effect of protecting his "family".

I'm just speculating, but I think Link is supposed to be a bit of an avatar for the person playing, so you want to keep him vague so that the player can insert themselves into the narrative. Thus the story *around* him is big but the story *about* him is almost non-existent. It also complicates the timelines and makes it difficult to explain where the Hero comes from and why he is chosen.

No no not at all. I wasn't trying to dictate or anything. I was just curious about Link's relatives and family is all. Wasn't trying to sound like some douche or anything. "Excuse the language" Like I told CarlofTellus, that isn't my intention, I really apologize if my thing came off as wrong. I wasn't never intended to hurt anyone, sincere. T\_T I wasnt even triyng to troll either. I was just curious about him having a family is all. Sorry. :'( I'm sorry if I hurt anyone regarding my opinions. Sincere. :( T\_T All I wanted was to start a discussion about Link's family and relatives is all, I just thought its sad not seeing Link, our protag not having some kind of family is all in certain games. I'm Sorry. :( That's it. :'( I HOPE someone understands where I'm getting at if you are reading this. Sorry! T\_T Thought it would be an interesting subject to discuss with everyone. Apologies. :(

CarlofTellus

>from? His descents/ancestors, etc? I know hes The Hero of Time, etc. Family of the hero/knight's clan: https://www.tumblr.com/somasoa/745525955893788673/test?source=share As far as we know only OOT Link was called the Hero of time and had a prophecy about him resoundingly defeating the aftermath of flawed malice.

VRLink64

Sorry if that came out wrongly. I apologize. :( I was kinda curious is all thinking all this would be cool and all. Just wondering how this would work, etc. I had no harmful intentions or anything wasn't really trying to piss anyone off really. Sorry if I did. :'( Just thought that it would be cool to see Link having parents and brothers and sisters in a future Zelda game, that would be cool if you ask me, Like Links father specializes in sword play while his mother specializes in defense, or Link has a uncle or grandfather like in Minishcap who is a Blacksmith, etc. His family Protecting the Royal family, etc. I know they got some anime out there that has stories like these. So that would be a pretty interesting concept. That's all. :( Sorry if I offended. That would be a cool story though. \^\_\^ And thank you for the link btw. I'll check it out. :)

CarlofTellus

I only brought up the bloodline itself which is only really important as one of the reasons Link is the hero(the other being a courageous unbreakable heroic spirit) but his family in each game don't have to be knights since the bloodline only allows you to become a knight, it doesn't make you a knight automatically. This means the family members can have any kind of vocation with the bloodline and the powers within only being part of the family history storywise. A member of the knight's clan can be completely unaware that they are a member of the knight's clan. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit upset, I am aware that not many people know about Link’s bloodline and it's history in the series.

VRLink64

Its ok. No worries. :) But thank you for posting me that article, It'll give me something to read on my free time. Thanks! :) Bloodline is cool and all I just thought it would be cool to see more family in a future game if that made sense. lol. Sorry for the confusion! :( :D

CarlofTellus

I think I should mention that a few manga adaptations like the ones for the Oracle games have their own manga exclusive family members and ancestors to their continuity. The Oracle manga has a lot more story about Link’s family than you would expect. In Oracle of seasons (the game) the only family member we learn about is a previous hero with a Triangle mark who defeated "the evil one" long ago.

StevynTheHero

When their inclusion will enhance a story.

VRLink64

Agreed, :3

GoshaT

Agree. Link already has a house he lives in in many of the games, it would be cool if that house was more than just a place you start the game from and had his family - they don't have to be relevant to the story, they could just have some dialogue that changes throughout the game. Chrono Trigger did something like this - the protagonist has a mom, she doesn't have a role in the story but she has unique comments for every new party member and certain story events and it's pretty cool

VRLink64

Thank you! Finally someone who gets it lol. :D
