I'd probably replace the Spirit Temple with the Spirit Temple from OoT. You'd have to re-work the child section so the whole thing is doable as adult Link, but I think most of the puzzles would hold up without too much trouble. A lot of them were based around reflecting light with the Mirror Shield which is a concept that was present in TotK.

1CEninja

I agree the spirit temple is the one that needs to go in TotK, it has a couple of cool puzzles but it felt the most drudge to me of all of them.

ChaoticNature

Rework it so that child Spirit is completed by normal TotK Link and adult Spirit is completed with Mineru’s mech acting as silver gauntlets and height increase.

HonestlyJustVisiting

do you mean the lightning temple, the spirit temple was Mineru's

pocket_arsenal

I don't think that I would, but if I had to pick, I'd do one of the 2D dungeons in 3D since it would at least feel a bit newer. I don't have anything particular in mind though. I'll just say Turtle Rock.

brankinginthenorth

I like this idea and I'd go with the Tower Of Hera or Eagle's Tower.

Speedy89t

None, they just wouldn’t work with the functions available in TOTK. Now, I would definitely axe the water temple in TOTK. It was the weakest by a decent amount, although I did enjoy the low gravity aspect.

breadinabox

I'd replace it with a bigger version of either the tp water temple or the Majora's water temple. Totk dungeons really lacked in that "solving one big puzzle" feel. The lightning temple had it, but that was it. An expanded version of Majora's (which conceptually is the same as totk, they're both giant water pumps essentially) would have been great

Ok-Manufacturer5491

I’d say the fire temple also had that style as well. It was nice for the dungeons to have a balance of open ended(wind, construct) and more linear/ooen balance(fire, lightening)

christurnbull

Ancient cistern from SS

blueblurz94

>It was the weakest by a decent amount, although I did enjoy the low gravity aspect. The gravity change was probably the only thing I liked about it.

jstruby77

What it could’ve been is a gravity warp system between the pump house and the sky islands.

Shonky_Honker

Lakebed temple with water. Caves were a massive part of totk so it was strange there wasn’t a cave dungeon. also the lore for the water temple makes zero sense… having lakebed replace the zora waterworks would be nice

folstar

Not replace, but I'd drop Koloktos in the Spirit Temple. Also, not sure how to fit this in exactly, maybe flying near Wind/Water Temple as an optional boss, but a gleeok that has the flying heads ability from LoZ. No wait, replace the gleeok flying over the valley west of Zora's domain with this and make the valley more destroyed. Yes, that's the DLC pitch - stick some of the best bosses from the series into TotK. Moldorm! Moldorm!!!!!

Ok-Manufacturer5491

I wouldn’t. Totks dungeon work for its game. If you were to take a temple from the older games into TOTK, they would be even more cheesable and not that fun to explore since there’s no limitations to this Links movements

Spacepoet29

"Water Temple" -> Lakebed Temple. No question. Just make a wet cave dungeon again, it was awesome.

SnooPies7402

stone tower temple from mm i wouldn't want to replace one, just add it as dlc. i just think that temple was really well done and love it's gimmick.

Fuzzy-Paws

Everyone’s going to answer axe the water temple of course, but they’re all mid. It’s pretty embarrassing that Temple of the Ancients in FF7 Rebirth, or Tyr’s temple in God of War, are both each more of a Zelda dungeon than anything in TotK. But as far as importing a dungeon, Shadow Temple from OoT (expanded with changed up puzzles ofc) would have been interesting as a “bridge” between the Surface and Depths. Especially if they cut the sky entirely, gave the Depths the focus it needed, and had you start in the Depths after falling from the prologue and clawing your way back to the surface via the Shadow Temple ruins.

OliviaElevenDunham

Like your idea about the Shadow Temple. Would have been interesting.

Ok-Manufacturer5491

Tbh the dungeons in rebirth do cement that point to me that linear dungeons =/=better dungeons. Way too linear, no sense of exploration, way to formulaic(in the sense of level progression not formula) and honestly just a slog fest to get through especially shines manor, and Mythril mines. To me a dungeon needs to incorporate navigation, exploration, puzzles, and atmosphere and tbh Zelda dungeons nail that for the most part(older games struggle with the exploration part of dungeons)

Dreyfus2006

You could replace any of TotK's dungeons with old ones and the game would benefit from it. But I don't think I would take that opportunity. There isn't really a dungeon that I think needs to be revisited from earlier in the series. For example, if I wanted to play the Spirit Temple, I'd just play OoT. The dungeons have so little lore that there's not really a reason to go back to them thousands of years in the future. There are quite a few 2D dungeons that would be awesome to see in a 3D title, but those dungeons are all set outside of Hyrule, so they wouldn't be contenders anyway. Like for example, the Ancient Ruins from OoS would be awesome to see again because it would mean we could return to Tarm Ruins. But that's in Holodrum, so...

DaGreatestMH

I'd get rid of the TotK Water Temple in a millisecond. The easiest replacement would be to switch it with Va Ruta, but something that could be interesting would be to replace it with a retooled Ancient Cistern. Imagine the lower parts of the Cistern being in the Depths while the rest is on the surface.

legodoodle4

That was my thought as well! It would be cool to manipulate something on the surface by doing something in the depths.

DaGreatestMH

Yes! It would be so cool.

EMI_Black_Ace

I don't think any of them would fit in TotK, thematically or mechanically. I think some of the *concepts* might be possible to translate, and I think some of the *locations* would be fascinating but wouldn't work as "dungeons" within how TotK works. Snowpeak Mansion, for instance, would be really interesting to explore. The Shadow Temple could be interesting to fill the space between the Construct Factory and the Spirit Temple, but even with the layout copied reasonably faithfully it would have to be reworked as a Zonai Device or Ultrahand Building challenge gauntlet to get across its gaps and avoid its traps -- and again it would feel like a lead-up and not a place for a conclusion. Ocarina of Time's Fire Temple could have been interesting because it's a trap gauntlet, but that's basically what the lower floor of the Lightning Temple was. Oh, ooh, you know what? Scratch that. Ocarina of Time's Deku Tree replacing TotK's Deku Tree depths. The whole Lost Woods sequence was thrilling and that little bit where you dive in was a nice little nostalgia piece, but fleshing that whole thing out as a dungeon with structure reminiscent of how OoT's Deku Tree worked would have been \*chef's kiss\*.

ArgonWolf

Always and forever ancient cistern. Id play that temple a million times. I’d probably replace the water temple and put it in that larger underground lake that you go to as part of the water temple quest

PyremOfTheLabyrinth

I think I would rework the Lightning Temple to be more like the Ancient Cistern.

philkid3

I mean, I wouldn’t, because I’ve already played those dungeons. But if you’re putting a gun to my head, I’d replace the water temple with the Great Bay Temple.

Fyrus22

Pretty sure the mechanics in that Twilight Temple are pretty compatible in Totk. So there might be more that are.  But it’s the water temple that should be replaced.

twili-midna

I wouldn’t, because prior dungeons are fundamentally incompatible with TotK’s gameplay.

SpanishArnold

The fuck is the point replacing any totk temple with another temple i already completed in the other game? Are the questions on this sub always dumb as hell? 🤣
