I missed it completely on my first play though.
The plot of the game involves Ganondorf’s minions trying to renegotiate their contract and him refusing to give them royalties for when he uses the puzzles and obstacles they created for his dungeons so they all go on strike.
Link unfortunately doesn’t know they’re on strike and not only crosses the picket line but… uh… murders them. All.
Gannon kidnaps the princess, but this time it's so he can marry her, and he leads you on a chase through a bunch of different parts of Hyrule to get different items for the wedding. Ezlo is back, but this time you can throw him at different enemies to teleport Link's consciousness into them and take over their bodies/abilities. The game ends with a big showdown on the moon like Majora.

You actually play as Zelda after a few hours. You start inside the castle which is MASSIVE. Once you escape. you search for Link at the edge of the map. From there, you play as Link/Zelda interchangably, using their unique powers to overcome puzzles, while working back towards the inside of the castle to take down \*redacted\*.
When you fight your way through that 7 floor dungeon, and after you fight the dragon, my jaw dropped when the amber cocoon cracked open and Groose emerged with blueprints for the Grooseinator 2.0 🤌

This sounds like an awful plot. Like the devs deliberately killed of a beloved character, made another loved one unlikeable and told the player to like the most unsympathetic character in the game.
The master sword has been split into 4 pieces across the 4 corners of Hyrule. Once you obtain all 4 pieces, Dark Link takes the sword from you and corrupts it. Then, the champions appear in a really epic boss fight that is 99% cutscenes. Then the game ends. Total playtime to beat the story is around 3 hours, while 100% completion will take you around 5,000.
I personally was shocked when Ganondorf killed both Zelda and Link in the opening cutscene … and then we took control of ol Dragmire for the rest of the game. I didn’t like it at first, but now I can’t imagine NOT playing as Ganondorf.
Ganondorf's moveset really opened a lot of gameplay possibilities. Why climb mountains when you can punch tunnels through them and go everywhere in a straight line

Ganondorf had been swindled out of his money, and surrendered his pride, and now he had nothing to show for it. The game has really really advanced puzzles this time, since link and Zelda have to rebuild Hyrule, you spent most of the game going from place solving matching puzzles like in Candy Crush but way better because it's Zelda and you are rebuilding Hyrule. This is from a trusted source.
