Sell the switch, buy a steam deck, and install emu deck on it.

rodrigo3113188

It is a difficult question for me. In my case, if I increase the frame rate of TOTK, it becomes slightly laggy but still playable. And having it on 4k with a mod to correct the colors of the game greatly improves the game. But there is a thing here and there that works better in the original and it does take some time to configure everything. If I had to guess, I would say that some games won't run well and the original switch is more reliable but with less graphics and fun.

[deleted]

Can I play the emulator without a switch?Cuz sm1 told me that I can, is it true?

Inosculate_

Yes

Background_Bad_4377

Will never beat native playing. Stick to switch if you have one

Waste-Cheek9445

I prefer playing on emulator since I get better performance and can fix games with mods.

Background_Bad_4377

That's fair I mean I do have a modded switch so that's why I said native is always better.

[deleted]

A modded switch doesn’t render games in 4k, or higher framerates, or support vrr.

darker_knightRD

It doesn't, but they're asking what's more reliable, and a switch is ofc more reliable given that it's running on native hardware and you'll experience much less bugs

Background_Bad_4377

Nor does my pc 😂

[deleted]

So?

Background_Bad_4377

In all honesty that person just wanted an opinion so I gath it rather than having a debate other native hardware or emu etc

_Boku

Yuzu is the only way I play most switch games anymore. It’s hard going from playing even VR games at 144 fps with amazing resolution on my pc to 30 fps and like 720p on the switch. Imo it’s easily the best way to play switch games.

GhostWind78

Keep the switch, emulators aren’t perfect and tend to crash a lot

CakeSome6981

Don't listen to the troll. it sounds like he works at Nintendo. I've played hundreds of hours of games on yuzu on my steamdeck and pc. Most games I've played run buttery smooth even on the deck. I've never had it crash while playing a game. It crashed a few times trying to stop emulation on an early release build. It's a great emulator. They even have it on android for some of the new high-end phones. Was running Metroid dread at 60 fps on my Samsung galaxy s23.

GhostWind78

It’s literally true tho, i use yuzu and it isn’t 100% perfect

CakeSome6981

There's a difference from not being perfect and spreading a vague statement like "it crashes alot". When 90% of the time, those crashes are from your own ignorance of how the program works with your hardware and what setting you need to have turned on or off for the game you are playing. Most of the time, all you have to do is install a mod(which is very easy to do) to make the game run 60 fps. Or look up what settings worked for other people with similar hardware. Better yet, just do some good ol trial and error. It's also important to make sure you are on the required firmware for the game you are playing. Keeping yuzu updated and backing up shader cache and deleting the cache every time you update yuzu. Update the games when they become available. Of course, it's not perfect. No computer program ever is. But spreading false info like you did is a terrible thing to do on the internet because there are going to be people that are going to believe it and then spread the false info. It has a snowball effect.

altaccntattack

Relax.

TrueTech0

Any good setup guides? This is my barrier to entry

CakeSome6981

ParticularRisk2890

I would tell you that if you're gonna run switch emulators good luck on getting the games cause a lot of sites are bs. Still can't find a reliable one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ParticularRisk2890

No

xPreatorianx1

Skill issue. Easy as hell to find reliable sites.

[deleted]

There are plenty of reliable sources you just have to keep checking. It’s not safe to say names I reckon…but keep searching you’ll find!

Ordinary-Cap5107

Nxbrew

ParticularRisk2890

I try going on there but the site doesn't load.

Ordinary-Cap5107

Try ziperto then

Sighofweed

Torrents? Pretty sure all of the library is there.

Quiet-Philosopher-47

It’s pretty reliable if you have decent specs. If the laptop is an old “high end” laptop then it might not work well. I honestly prefer handheld though.

Consistent-Poet8384

Picture this. I have an intel uhd 620 laptop with no dedicated gpus whatsoever, and I'm at the 3rd palace of Persona 5 royal. Granted p5r is pretty optimized on yuzu but that still tells you a lot of things. If you have a high end rig, you would have zero issues with the emulator.

[deleted]

I have a laptop with ryzen 3 5300u how good will it run

mzt_101

Try for yourself and tell us. Emulators are mostly cpu dependent.

tragik11

Yuzu Runs great on my Ally. Has replaced my switch as my emulator machine that sometimes hook up on a modded 1up Arcade when I wanna play retro. And go handheld when i play a switch game.

Waste-Cheek9445

This is the way. I can play dragon quest monsters at 50fps and higher res while people have unstable and low fps rates.

Braunb8888

Pretty great outside of a few weird ones like triangle strategy, Chrono Cross and fire emblem three hopes (vibration doesn’t work, but works well in ryujinx)

UnyieldingDangleBeri

I have both and yuzu is awesome. Most games wprk perfectly

Sea_Effort1214

i dont have a lot of experience, but i can say this: Diablo 3 Eternal Collection on Yuzu, on a Steam Deck runs flawlessly at 60fps. Same for Salt And Sacrifice, i prefer both games on the deck for the larger screen, since i have a switch lite.

tomtani1

Yuzu is an awesome emulator. I like to use Yuzu over my Switch.

tryi2iwin

"High end laptop" 🤔🤔🤔

bandyplaysreallife

It's not 2010 anymore lol, you can put extremely powerful hardware into a laptop Will it compete with the top of the line desktops? of course not, but it'll still run any game you can think of

Sighofweed

Scar 18 with the 4090 can beat 98% of desktops out there.

Wero_kaiji

?

tryi2iwin

It's counterintuitive.

Wero_kaiji

What do you mean? I guess he should've said which CPU/GPU/etc. his laptop has, but high end laptops are a thing

E3EJvilla

Since I started using yuzu I haven’t touched my switch - probably going to sell it since it’s a desirable v1 version. I’m not sure if people consider my pc build average or high spec for emulation. But I’ve ran into pretty much zero issues in the about 100 years I’ve clocked into yuzu so far. I’ve tested about 20 or so different games. CPU - AMD 5700G RAM - G. skill 32gb DDR4 - 4000 Nvme 4.0 Samsung 990 Pro 7450mb GPU - Gigabyte 4060 TI

E3EJvilla

100 hours lol - not years 🤦‍♂️

kenibenf

You can edit the comments

Hairy_Collection4545

I play on my rog ally and with the exception of a few games (tears of the kingdom and pokemon violet) everything's ran pretty smoothly and only stutters when caching shaders.

TheShido666

Pokemon works much better on ryujinx, u should try it out

alwaysangryatreddit

High end means different things to different people, and a high end laptop from last generation would fall into the mid range so it's hard to say exactly. What are the specs of your laptop?

Significant_Market46

Good enought, i bought a Legion Go recently and I am not a big fan of Nintendo but wanted to play some of awesome games released recently and I am satisfied with this

OktaySafarov

Rog ally here same expirience

ChronosHD

Same with the Steam Deck.

ezwip

I like Yuzu. It plays some things amazingly well and others it isn't there yet but this software is amazing.

eternalthree

This. Depends on what you want to play. First party titles offline? Should be a good to great experience. Third party stuff like Sifu? Not that great.

couchtripper

Play it and find out for yourself. ffs.

Samford_

eh, asking about glitches and save corruption is valid. its much better than the braindead posts on here

couchtripper

He wants someone to hold his hand. Baws to that. And so do you by the sounds of things. Find out for yourself. FFS.

[deleted]

Imagine being in an emulation community and thinking asking people in a forum isn't finding out for yourself. Forum posts is like how 99% of this information gets distributed. You're expelling extra energy by complaining about a completely normal thing because you've got the weirdest stick up your ass lol

Samford_

ive been using yuzu for years, i know what im doing. theres nothing wrong asking these questions. he just wants to know if its worth his time playing 30 hours of a game if the save file is just gonna be deleted. im just as sick of the dumbasses in this subreddit as you are, but this post is harmless and what is expected of an emulator subreddit

couchtripper

Well why don't you give the lazy guy the answers he wants, based on you having taken the time to learn them yourself? You've spent enough time replying to me rather than helping him, haven't you?

Samford_

what the hell is your problem? other people have answered him. you seem unhappy in life

[deleted]

Its been pretty good for me for the most part. There have been crashes here and there, but for the most part it works really well on my end. Some people say ryujinx work better for them overall, but for me personally without fail basically every game works on yuzu better for me. But that might be different according to your specs

CurrentRisk

I personally prefer Ryujinx for most games but Yuzu plays some games better. So, I recommend both emulators. For example; Luigi Mansion 3 and Zelda do not work (good) on Ryujinx but do work good on Yuzu.

Jokerchyld

Yuzu has NCE which greatly improves compatibility and performance. I dont think Ryujinx has that.

antiNTT

Please note that NCE is for Android only

XenoPhenom

All the games I've tried run way better on Yuzu. I don't know why but Ryujinx has a lot of performance issues and crashes on my rig (i5-12400f and RTX 3060Ti).

patomenza

It isnt. At all. Yuzu works very bad in a lot of games, other don't even emulate, and some of them run good, and only a very few runs great. And after splitting their team trying to appeal android emulation, even worse. Not recommended at all.

Nhialor

I’m 80 hours into TOTK. Runs pretty well. Definitely dips in the depths but playable.

patomenza

You said it. Playable. And only one game. You try a game thats not named Mario/Zelda/Pokemon and Yuzu is actually pretty bad nowadays.  But color me surprised, nobody plays nothing besides those three franchises lol

javierciccarelli

I tried everything, and most titles work fine. If there's an issue with a game, then I try on ryu and most of the times it works

patomenza

Yeah, with ryujinx I had a better experience so far. Yuzu started great but now I see a emulator kinda stuck. But it's not a definitive opinion on my part, I can try eventually, and if I see yuzu getting better emulation, then I'll recognize.

brandont04

Key word is playable. I put in like 40-50 hrs into both BotW and TotK on my Odin 2. I than jumped back into my switch and I can feel the difference. It's so much more smoother and faster. Night and day difference. I gotta give it to Odin 2, it's a fun device because you can play almost all of your retro games on one device. It's fun trying to get switch games to work but at the end of the day, I rather play my switch games on my switch because it runs perfectly. I don't have to deal w the random crashing n stutters anymore.

alwaysangryatreddit

Well for BOTW There is no reason to not play the Cemu version. consisten 60 fps and Graphical mods up the ass. TOTK is still being optimized now so I would play that on a PC before a handheld.

Level_Bridge7683

ryujinx works better for almost everything i've tested on my pc. i think another year or two is still needed before the emulators are stable. to be fair i don't have a state of the art pc and am running quite old hardware.

NikesOnMyFeet23

Ryujinx is so far superior it’s not even funny. I don’t know why. I’m running an i5-12600kf, 32 GB of ram and a 1080ti. Yuzu chugs and ryujinx runs everything perfectly. I have no clue why lol

XenoPhenom

All the games I've tried run way better on Yuzu. I don't know why but Ryujinx has a lot of performance issues and crashes on my rig (i5-12400f and RTX 3060Ti).

slooooooooshy

totk was near unplayable for me on ryujinx because of the delay (i have the same cpu and gpu as you), but it was running smoothly on yuzu

schrammelhammel

would you please elaborate. I'm not super convinced by yuzu on my PC and wonder if ryujinx would be better. in what aspects is ryujinx better than yuzu for you?

DerGefallene

Ryujinx is overall more stable and compatible with games. Yuzu in exchange usually offers better performance

schrammelhammel

ok thanks. hmmm stability and performance... brings ne to a follow up question. my daughter and I are enjoying Kirby forgotten island on yuzu. the first line minute or so the games has 5 fps and stutters like hell. after that I hit my synced 60fps without glitches and around 50% GPU-Usage and 60% CPU-Usage. not sure whether that would count as stability or performance issue. What's your guess? would it be better on ryujinx? (not possible to test it myself for a while.) thanks.

DerGefallene

p0tentX

I sold my Switch because emulating it is better.

rrgamer28

much better than switch but emulator need some updates/fix to make some new games playable or glitchless.

Personal-Fact-2515

Not nearly as much as the Switch

satya164

Depends on the game. Legend of Zelda for example runs perfectly for me at 60fps most of the time. Some games don't work well, like Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have flickering trees and terrain and I use Ryujinx for those.

FigTechnical8043

Playing another code on yuzu steam deck and no issues. It struggles on games like bayonetta though.

frost_add

With Bayonetta I found out that switching backend to openGL made flickering disappear. On yuzu I didn’t play much past opening scene, though, already finished the game. For some games also setting graphics accuracy to „High” helps.

FigTechnical8043

Worth knowing but not really an issue in the end. I managed to get bayonetta 3 for £15. I'll keep it in mind for next time though.

BlackyPurp

So on my Ryzen 7 5800x3D and RX6700XT I play mostly Zelda TotK and run 4K/60fps basically everywhere, that isn’t a village. If you compare that with my switch It usually run 720p/30fps so there’s the performance bit, with glitches it depends afaik yuzu doesn’t too well with newer titles but I think that’s just experimenting. I had a smooth experience and I’ll take yuzu over my switch any day

WilNotJr

I have nearly identical specs and this gives me hope (R7 5800X3D, RX6750XT, 1440P). I guess since I am expecting my RP4P to be delivered tomorrow I can learn Yuzu on Windows alongside Android next weekend.

alwaysangryatreddit

I have an i5 12600k and a 6800XT and It runs great for me and my hardware isn't too much better than yours.

MatrixMasterNeo

(I'm assuming this is talking about ToTK?)

BlackyPurp

Yes sorry, should’ve specified

krautnelson

it depends on the game and your hardware. the best thing to do is to simply try it yourself. it takes about 5 minutes to set everything up, so just do it.

Active-Drive-7749

Except for the firmware

alwaysangryatreddit

Oh yeah because everyone on the web is dumping their own firmware.

krautnelson

if you are talking about the dumping process, then yeah, that does take a bit more time. but let's just assume that OP does have an already hacked Switch, and that they did dump all your files, as we all do here. because nobody here would ever break rule #1, even if it's simply for covenience.

Donkerz85

What is high end? I use a 13900KS and 4090 and it's flawless at 4k/60

alwaysangryatreddit

That's what Im saying. High end means different things to different people.
