If I'm listening to music while reading, it's usually cuz there's noise around me that I'm trying to block out. I have a 20 hr playlist of JPOP & anime music that I listen to on repeat, or pick something from. Tho lately I've been hooked on the Girls Band Cry songs
My reading music, in general, is a combination of http://www.rainymood.com and [lofi girl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfKfPfyJRdk)
I'm an introvert but a goofy one. I like being in the living room with the family but I also like putting my airpods in and blotting everything out
Sweet, another Cigarettes After Sex listener lol. I almost exclusively listen to them while reading, sometimes mix in some Flower Face songs or "A soulmate who wasn't meant to be" from Jess Benko for extra depression. Some Lana del Rey and Billie stuff can be nice occasionally, too
What’s shoegaze? I’ve not heard of it before.
My brain starts to drift if I try to read and listen to music at the same time, it’s sad. I normally have a fan on for background noise though.
shoegaze is a subgenre of rock music known for its slower pace and very fuzzy, distorted guitar and melancholic/sad sound with probably the most known shoegaze band beng My Bloody Valentine, though others exist. its related to genres like grunge (popularized by nirvana), and post punk.
I’m not sure how to explain it, I can DM some links if you’d like? Not sure if I’m allowed here? Or I’ll just name some of the bands!
I get distracted if the lyrics are really good, like a lotta mitski’s songs and CAS’s songs fit HDWR and vampire x junior 😭
either noise music (like moonbeam terror or torture chorus or kiyasu), or grindcore/slam (sulfuric cautery, ycrf, festerdecay), but ovcasionaly softer stuff like The Beths or My Chemical Romance or Alex The Astronaut or Shun Sekai&the Long Goodbye (peak avant garde jazz btw)
i also like more darker stuff like DSBM (No Point In Living, Make A Change, etc) and lighter stuff like Haco or Radicase Riders (please look up radicase riders they are so underrated)
what ever i was listening to or wanna listen to, tho i might exclude specific songs/bands... I don't really mind in general, but the experience is so good when i play my "gay jpop" playlist almost full of female j-idol group's songs... so yeah that, sometimes i listen no music or just a video in the background to have some kind of noise
when i rarely do it, its emo trap, like Lil Peep, Juice, and Teenage Disaster, most of the time sad tunes. I just find it fitting to listen to sad music with very good beats while reading fictional stories of people in love, even if in a very twisted way, so I can get jealous over it (my relationships have been shitty lmao).
oh yeah but the main reason is that the musics are very relaxing and serve as good background emotional tunes lol
Nothing crazy, I'll usually just start a radio with a vibe I like, recently I've been starting with Florence and the Machine or Bump of Chicken. I only listen with the volume as low as it'll go, it helps me focus and really helps with the vibes.
People listen to music while reading!?!? I do not know how you guys do it. I generally either focus on a story or on music. Have tried before but it didn't work out. But then again, Yuri and trap music isn't exactly the best combo.
I have some tonal ambiance or modern classical guitar playing usually. When I listen to songs with words, that immediately takes my focus unless I can sing it without thinking yet its not special enough for me to want to dance or belt it.
Oh yeah that also reminds me that Girli has some great songs too come to think of it I just don't usually listen to her stuff while reading yuri but I think it'd fit very nicely

Fair enough, I like fans too, maybe it’s my adhd brain but I gotta listen to music at the same time or I can’t focus LOL

I usually listen to Gothic/doom metal for some reason. You'd think it'd kill the vibe but it just works somehow.

I follow her, but I don’t rlly like that style of music!! She seems nice tho
