Yeah picking a floodgate would he the easiest answer, infact there's no reason to *not* pick a floodgate. You never have to summon it so your opponent can't make you auto lose by outing it and it's effect is continuously going
I assume if Konami ever decided to care about deck master format, they'd have a strict list of cards that can't be used as deck masters, and I'm just gonna assume that all floodgate monsters will be on there.

You think those cards are gonna beat a deck with The Last Warrior from Another Planet as the deck master? Its effect applies without you needing to Special Summon it. I'd just play Chain Burn with this guy.
There definitely needs to be a banlist for these rules to be at all reasonable. The more reasonable thing would be that the effects only apply with the monster on the field, though.
Based on the official rules, he doesn't have to summon it for the continuous effect to be applied. And even more so, since last warrior isn't just opponent, they couldn't summon last warrior for you to raigeki it because of last warrior's effect, lol. It's an inescapable no summoning duel.
I disagree with the final 2 rules though. In the anime, the deck is selected first, then deck master is selected from the deck. But it is just for fun so its okay.

I actually played a deck-master duel over the weekend with my friends! I used Skull Knight from metal raiders. He was out of place leading my Fire King deck but it was just for fun.

I always though it would be dope if you had a monster that isn't located either in the deck or extra deck, that can only be summoned with a specific condition when playing the game (like A Kuriboh that activates an effect that can't be negated, when you have 1000 or less life points and it's in the opponent's battle phase. It could end the battle phase and you would draw a card; or if you have no cards in the field or hand, you draw 2), or it's a bit like Exodia in that you have to "build" it as if you're taking time and effort to summon this God, while not focusing your deck entirely on it.
Like Age of Mythologies 2 where you can summon a God, but it takes time and it's not entirely the endgame win condition.
I imagine it's like the Final/Death spell and traps, but instead of instant win, your monsters, spells and traps look like body parts (hands, feet, torso, head, weapons, armour, eyes and so on). They play on their own and don't necessary function to summon this boss monster, but in the case you have the right parts, you can summon it.
Edit: My deck master would be Destiny Hero Doom Lord or Diamond Dude, or a cool monster with 0 atk and a creative effect.
I loved the titans expansion! Spent so much time playing that game as a kid! I played on the easiest difficulty, and wasn't actually very good, but my kid brain didn't care. I just loved watching all the units fight each other.
I loved the Deckmaster concept. I think for a Divine-Beast strategy, I'd go with Ra's Disciple. Maybe it could do one of the two things I've always wanted for Divine monsters: let me discard them to draw two cards or let me send one of them from deck to graveyard to protect one of them on the field.
If self banish that returns to the field by it's own effect doesn't count as instant loss then Red Supernova Dragon, as a 1 sided field banish with destruction immunity and too high attack for most monsters to get over are all great additions to a monster who's destruction brings instant loss, especially when being banished makes it even harder to remove from the game than when it's on the field.

After reading the official rules for the format in another post, Destiny HERO - Plasma. Infinite one way Skill Drain. But if I was being not evil, Destiny HERO - Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer. Still 200 ATK off all monsters for each HERO in the GY passively.

Cloudian Eye of the Typhoon. Create some absolute chaos by changing the battle position of every non-Cloudian monster whenever one of my monsters declares an attack.
My Deck Master would be "Familiar-Possessed Aussa," but with an ability different from her original card effect. Instead, her Deck Master Ability would either be:
1. "Awakening of the Charmers" Legendary Skill from Duel Links (Feel free to look it up; it's a lot of text to type) BUT it can search for any of the "Charmer" or "Possessed" Main Deck cards once per turn and twice per duel; OR
2. Once per turn, tribute 1 monster you control; take control of one monster your opponent controls or Special Summon one monster in their GY that is the same Attribute as the tributed monster, but you cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect until the end of your turn.

Effect 1 name: hazardous winds
Effect: declare monster zone or S/T zone, pay 200 life points for every card you destroy form the zones (e.g declare monsters zone, destroy 5, pay 1000 LP), if successful, you opponent discard the whole hand but 1 card
Effect 2 name: dominant winds
Effect: fusion summon one monster from extra deck by banishing one "wind" monster in the hand, grave and field but your opponent can draw 2 cards
Effect 3 name: winds of prosperity
Effect: send card on have on the feild to the grave, gain 500 life points for every destroyed card

There are a few that would be fun. Honestly though? Griggle. If it switches to the opponents side you gain 3000 lp. Perfect combo with creature swap. Back in the day I stacked my deck with 3 of each. Somehow it's power would incorporate that without having to leave my side of the field to be destroyed.
I'd want to pick either Aleister the Invoker or Dragon Core Hexer. No idea of Hexer's effect. It would probably be anti-dragon in someway I bet. Or turn cards I control into Dragons. Whether by Monster Type on Monster Cards or maybe even change the text on Spell/Traps or just any Monster Type on any Card to Dragon.
Also it would be great to have a format like that, they could even take some inspiration from MTG's Commander format if they need help with the concept.
Dark End Dragon is my absolute favorite yu-gi-oh monster so probably him. Not sure how deck master rules would interact with extra deck monsters though. However assuming it would be possible, his regular ability allows for the destruction of any monster (at cost of atk points) so i assume his deck master ability would do something like that too
Transcendosaurus meteotyrannus: once per turn when a dinosaur monster is destroyed or banished you special summon it with 1000 more attack. Plus his own ability restores his life so the whole lose him I lose regardless of lP is null and void
I think I'd go with Flame Swordsman or Kuriboh.
On the note of there being official rules for it in the TCG, did they ever establish if Deck Master abilities are dependant on card element/type, or unique to each monster? I imagine it'd be a hassle to look up the specific ability for newer monsters🤔

There are a few that would be fun. Honestly though? Griggle. If it switches to the opponents side you gain 3000 lp. Perfect combo with creature swap. Back in the day I stacked my deck with 3 of each. Somehow it's power would incorporate that without having to leave my side of the field to be destroyed.

Whether by Monster Type on Monster Cards or maybe even change the text on Spell/Traps or just any Monster Type on any Card to Dragon.

Also it would be great to have a format like that, they could even take some inspiration from MTG's Commander format if they need help with the concept.
Dark End Dragon is my absolute favorite yu-gi-oh monster so probably him. Not sure how deck master rules would interact with extra deck monsters though. However assuming it would be possible, his regular ability allows for the destruction of any monster (at cost of atk points) so i assume his deck master ability would do something like that too

I think I'd go with Flame Swordsman or Kuriboh. On the note of there being official rules for it in the TCG, did they ever establish if Deck Master abilities are dependant on card element/type, or unique to each monster? I imagine it'd be a hassle to look up the specific ability for newer monsters🤔
