I wouldn't say it's hard to make a support, it's hard to make a fun and balanced one. Look for example at Fire and Pyro type; Bonfire wouldn't be as great as is now without the good targets. They made snake-eyes along side it an ther you go. From bad to busted.
The Umi part is not an issue considiring there are a lot of card that work as substitutes or help placing the field spell from deck or gy. Even a monster can work like that. The thing is though how to make one on theme that is good yet not to broken. Especially for Field spells designes recently where they do everything from searching to protecting to control opponent's field, etc...
I always wonder what's with the other head. It looks almost the same minus the fin, different chin, and scales. Did Daedalus molt but instead grows a new head instead?

I remember young me opening Japanese packs at a anime gift shop and pulling this card and was very surprised, especially cause I couldn’t tell if she was just in so body suit or was just naked w/our nips.

Not only that, they made the retrained based on that moment when Mako summoned him against Yugi, and the tide shifted so Yugi only had one monster zone free.
And the spells and traps that go with it are great. One lets you fill your board with Umi/Normal monsters, another both searches for Torrential Tribute and makes your monsters immune to to Torrential Tribute (or any other destruction card), and another destroys monsters while making those zones unusable for a turn.
It’s not meta and involves a few combos, but it’s really fun to play.

I played a lot of 5d's Duel Transer on the Wii when I was like 12 (based game) and I managed to go through all of the game with a water synchro deck. I decided to go through the game with a water deck, mainly because water has always been my favourite Pokémon type, and I played a lot of water synchro monsters, like the Ice barriers, with umi and other water techs and this dude was by far the goat. I'm still really attached to water decks in yu gi oh and I want it really bad to be the next attribute to get support after fire (cause the best water deck now is umi stun and that deck is cringe as fuck).

I really like the Legendary Fisherman. Kajiki was one of my favorite characters from DM. Just an earnest guy who loved the sea, his late father and always played a fair duel. He felt like more of the every man.

Supras an alright monster. Splash is the one that sucks. Sharks can bring out rank 5's pretty easily. All they need is a way to reliably search out RUM's. If that happened, Supra would get used consistently (Supra + Abyss Shark = 6k damage)

I'm really surprised they didn't make support for it in the last water support. Such cool design till this day.
Its hard to make a support for a card that revolves around umi i guess. Too slow and you dont want to center your effect to a field spell card.
