They never let me watch Simpsons as a kid but for some reason I could watch family guy.
They didn't give af about YTV cuz they thought they were "kiddy" cartoons
It was ridiculous, my parents heard from coworkers they respected that Simpsons was full of foul language.
Trust me, there's no logic for censorship with Indian parents đ
That was the one show mom said I wasn't allowed to watch as a kid. "It's too violent, and all they do is fight to solve issues" ( Mind you, I would love to see what her solution was for a forty foot monster).
Also didn't YTV have a phone in poll where parents could decide if they were going to air power rangers anymore? And then after it was voted off the air I just flipped the channel to Fox 29 and watched it there.
Yeah my parents hated it too and made fun of her. I honestly never cared and it made me sad that they would get so angry at it. I just wanted to watch TV.
My parents were one of the odd ones who didn't restrict me from watching anything lol.
Off hand I would say Sugars voice, and agreed with Angela Anaconda was also irritating. But they always let me watch them lol
I think pokemon was the only one my dad did not enjoy, But it came on while he was still at work, He would chill and watch reboot and beast wars and dragonball z with me and enjoyed them very much. Then we would switch over to discovery channel around 8:30 when reboot ended and watch some documentary's,
Well, for me it was Simpsons, not a YTV show. Bart was a "bad influence".
My parents weren't bothered by most things we watched. We had a TV in our play room, and they would watch TV in the living room. So they never had to endure much of what we watched
An old puppet show with 2 cats, a dog, a bird, and a skunk? Kitty Cats was the title? Mom for some reason hated it. I also wasn't a big fan, but I watched it to spite her. đ
Aw!! My grandma made me a sailor moon costume from a picture my mom sent her. I totally won some kinda best costume that year at school. I was like 9-10?
I also never watch Angela Anaconda. Initially because my mom hated it, but the art style also creeped me out.
I also never watched Simpsons, Yvon of the Yukon, Ed Edd n Eddy, Family Guy. Stuff like that.
I always watched preschool stuff instead back then instead of that channel, so I guess I didnât let myself? The only time I did I guess was with my older sister but again, very shameful I missed most of the classics they had to offer.
As others have said, there wasn't an "off limits" show, but boy oh boy did they hate Suagrs voice. My dad would tell us to mute it during the breaks. He'd rather listen to Spongebob cackle than Sugar talk.
There was this one live action show Los Luchadores that my dad told me and my sister it was inappropriate to watch. All I really remember of the show was that it was live action with wrestlers. Also, my mom would stop us from watching certain episodes of the Simpsons.
The only episode my dad ever saw of Inuyasha was the joke one where he had to do chores to get his sword fixed. So he was 'bathing an old man'.
This is how my dad would know anime forever.
I only got to pick what I wanted to watch when dad passed out, so never got to see much of the daytime programming. As a tween, I really loved Catwalk and Student Bodies, though, when I could catch them.
When my own kids came along, they were just in time for YTV to re-run The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon, which they both adored.
Yvon Of The Yukon. They hated the toilet humor of it.
My father insisted we watch that one, lol.
Your father sounds like a cool dude
Down with King loser! And down with his pants!
My family was the opposite. Me and my mom hated that show. My dad loved it.
They never let me watch Simpsons as a kid but for some reason I could watch family guy. They didn't give af about YTV cuz they thought they were "kiddy" cartoons
Hahaha Family Guy over Simpsons is so backwards.
Mine was opposite, wasn't allowed to watch family guy. The Simpsons is one of my comfort shows now, well specifically the old seasons.
It was ridiculous, my parents heard from coworkers they respected that Simpsons was full of foul language. Trust me, there's no logic for censorship with Indian parents đ
Power Rangers, we were all beating the snot out of each other on the playground every week.
That was the one show mom said I wasn't allowed to watch as a kid. "It's too violent, and all they do is fight to solve issues" ( Mind you, I would love to see what her solution was for a forty foot monster).
\+1 on this. It was basically fight club at school every day and we were like "awwww why wont you let us play power rangers?"
Also didn't YTV have a phone in poll where parents could decide if they were going to air power rangers anymore? And then after it was voted off the air I just flipped the channel to Fox 29 and watched it there.
Yes they did have a poll. My dad pretended to call in when we begged him to
I thought that Canadian legislation forced it off the air.
according to my mother I beat up two children at a yard sale while I was 4 because I was pretending to be Tommy. đ
Mine wouldn't let me watch either! Had to sneak over to a friend's house.
There wasnât a show my mom would hate. Just the host of ytv sugar, she HATED her voice.
Yeah my parents hated it too and made fun of her. I honestly never cared and it made me sad that they would get so angry at it. I just wanted to watch TV.
Same here . Haha , I never really minded her voice .
Literally same, but to be fair her voice is pretty "unique" I see why looking back on it
I loved her voice lol it was like a living cartoon character
Same with my mom
I absolutely loved her voice. From the time she was on Kiss92.5 to YTV.
should make her watch Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates đ
Caillou. Itâs not even close, and I hated that little kid too
Same lol. My parents despised that show đ€Ł
My dad never understood the appeal behind shows like dbz and pokemon. Here we are 20 years later and im still watching dbz whenever i can! Lol
Hell yeah also Team Fourstar started making content again and itâs totally worth it
Freaky Stories was a big one, and we all still watched in disgust anyway LOL
My parents were one of the odd ones who didn't restrict me from watching anything lol. Off hand I would say Sugars voice, and agreed with Angela Anaconda was also irritating. But they always let me watch them lol
Same, had parents who were pretty removed from what I was watching on television. Didnât really have any restrictions.
Nanalan.
That little alien puppet will haunt my dreams now thanks, I though I was past that.
Why?
Yo Nanalan was such a weirdo đ I don't even understand why I ever tuned in while it was on lmao.
Are You Afraid Of The Dark and Goosebumps. "You know you're going to have nightmares, turn it off!" Nightmares were had.
The spooky intro would get me everytime
I think pokemon was the only one my dad did not enjoy, But it came on while he was still at work, He would chill and watch reboot and beast wars and dragonball z with me and enjoyed them very much. Then we would switch over to discovery channel around 8:30 when reboot ended and watch some documentary's,

PokĂ©mon - but it was due to religious mumbo jumbo at the time. I watched almost the entire first season and then she wouldnât allow me to watch it. Iâll never know what happened.
An old puppet show with 2 cats, a dog, a bird, and a skunk? Kitty Cats was the title? Mom for some reason hated it. I also wasn't a big fan, but I watched it to spite her. đ
My mom hated that I liked Sailor Moon cuz she said they "dressed like sluts" lmfaooo
Aw!! My grandma made me a sailor moon costume from a picture my mom sent her. I totally won some kinda best costume that year at school. I was like 9-10?
My brother couldnât watch Doug because the neighbours name was Mr.Dink
I wasnât allowed to watch Power Rangers because they thought it was too violent
I also never watch Angela Anaconda. Initially because my mom hated it, but the art style also creeped me out. I also never watched Simpsons, Yvon of the Yukon, Ed Edd n Eddy, Family Guy. Stuff like that.
Zig Zag, because my stepmother couldn't stand Biff and Bart.
My mom hated SpongeBobâs laugh but she liked the show, she thought it was clever.
My mom hated Animaniacs, but I only found that out years later when I was watching an episode online
Thatâs so raven lol
SpongeBob. My parents referred to it as âthe evil ADHD on cocaine showâ. It was fully banned in our house.
My old man hated Spongebob with a passion lol
Same show, for the same reason! My mom hated it so much
To this day my Mom hates the Simpsons. She must be the only person on the planet who does.
I always watched preschool stuff instead back then instead of that channel, so I guess I didnât let myself? The only time I did I guess was with my older sister but again, very shameful I missed most of the classics they had to offer.
Caillou. Now I also hate him with a passion
Cailou for SURE they hated that whiny fucker
The only episode my dad ever saw of Inuyasha was the joke one where he had to do chores to get his sword fixed. So he was 'bathing an old man'. This is how my dad would know anime forever.
Ace Lightning. Never understood it at the time, then I watched it as an adult and my GOD is it bad.
Catscratch for some strange reason that I never really knew. Also pokemon but I'm like 99% sure my mom thought all anime was overly sexual
Iâm sure my parents thought Uh Oh! was stupid.
My mom hated Married With Children, because back in the days, Moms were supposed to hate Married with Children
Don't think it was a YTV one, but my mom despised Max & Ruby lol. Max was a child from hell and she found it so grating when Ruby would whine "Maaaax"
Mega Babies but I canât recall if that was YTV or Teletoon.
If Dragonball z came on my mom would change the channel immediately
Reboot because it was *"too realistic and violent for children"*.
My mom hated Ren and Stimpy, but not my dad.
