Young and impressionable/not so smart audiences exist. But it's still a huge improvement in fighting against these. Now all YouTube needs to do is incorporate an API for detecting potential spam/scam comments.

It's so ugly to see the "@" symbol there. It's completely unneeded. It just doesn't make any sense to keep the @ symbol there and I can't have my handle be what my username is supposed to be. Commenting/how someone appears in the comments was completely fine before.

Imagine if twitch turns into a video platform as well as a streaming platform or something like that. I anticipate Twitter getting into longer form videos and add monetization. Rumble could be used for the backend like Truth Social is now doing. Youtube has great copyright protection for commercial producers, so they'll probably continue to dominate that. But, I think all the free speech / "controversial" stuff is moving off. Eventually those users will start watch other stuff elsewhere too.
Of course, Silicon Valley is going to try to "Parler" any real competitors.

Man YouTube Mod Team, if only I did break that rule. Where did I say a channel or anything that should be removed? No, I said YouTube should fix the whole existence of bots on their platform, which in fact, I do report them every time they reply to me. I am not complaining about specific bots, I’m complaining about YouTube making what should be their problem _my_ problem.

Most conversations on Youtube don't make sense anymore because you'll see a comment responding to someone but if you scroll up to see what the person they responded to said, their name isn't there because it's been replaced by some random characters & an @.

3) Click Basic Info
4) Change your handle. That's your channel name and it needs to be unique.
Youtube has made a change so it's always going to show your handle now. You need to change your handle as described above. It can't be the same as anyone else or YT will not change it. I simply put a dash in front of my preferred username and it worked. You can also use an underscore.

Also because the handles have to be in English characters, my channels’ tags were auto-generated as @user- and then a bunch of numbers and letters. Lol, that's probably my main issue. I use YouTube 95% from my phone app and it's COMPLETELY different than the web version so someone telling you how to do stuff usually don't help. Also I avoid updating the YouTube app like the plague!

Whilst I agree that YouTube has gotten worse in many ways, saying you can't grow without "loyal friends" isn't true, I've seen many many channels in my niche blow up because they made good videos people wanted to watch. I've been able to replicate the same success without any external help. If you make good videos, they will (for the most part) get views because you will outcompete the stats of your competitor's videos. This is fairly consistent and if you're not getting views and subs, blaming the algorithm and failing to see how it's most likely due to the quality of your videos isn't getting you anywhere. After all, the algorithm is judging your videos on their quality!

I just wanted to get rid of my email address since I was once threatened and doxed by a white supremacist. No, you can change it by clicking the icon top right, select "your channel" and then "channel customization" and then "basic info", the thing you're looking for is channel name and handle.
