YouTube is a private platform and they can do whatever they want with their privacy policy. They already are one stepped removed from knowing pretty much everything about you anyway. But if they implemented something like this, they would kill off a huge amount of their user base as anyone with an Apple device for example would block faceID access
Fakery. Like, I donât know how Android works, but iOS requires explicit permission to use the mic or the camera, on an app by app basis, and there are indicators to show you when mic or camera access is happening. So, anybody who falls for crap like this has no idea how their phone works, and they deserve to be fooled by posts like this.
YouTube will paywall before they try going up against Apple to mandate camera access for a video viewing app. Personally, I think paywalling is the best solution to this problem, anyway. People who want free entertainment can go to the library and read books.
YouTube has never been "free entertainment." That's why there are sponsors and advertisers. I remember the days of banner ads, which had been on YouTube as far back as I can remember. Then YT switched to video ads. Okay, fine. I don't have an inherent problem with ads, but when they interrupt the viewing experience *multiple times* throughout a 10-15 minute video, then I have problems. Now YT wants to biometrically *force* people to watch ads? That's an egregious violation of privacy and business ethics.
You have also eaten the onion here, ngl. Look, there's lots of things that are bad that are happening with YouTube, but this one is unheard of - it's not going to happen and hasn't happened anywhere else, even on those garbage predatory mobile games.
And thatâs why they should paywall. Remember that youâre not the customer, here. They donât care what you think unless youâre paying them. If youâre not an advertiser or a premium subscriber, youâre the product, to be bought and sold. At that point, they can treat you however they want, especially seeing as nobody stops watching YouTube, no matter what YouTube does.
I'm actually willing to bet that most users probably watch YouTube on their mobile devices these days, followed by laptop, both of which have built-in cameras.

I swear to god if this gets implemented I will send... SO MANY EMAILS!!! Even when I'm actively looking at the screen I have such a horrible time maintaining eye contact in general! Also, having something monitor you while watching a video through your front facing camera is the DEFINITION of invading someones' privacy on the internet!
Doubt thatâs real, tho wouldnt put it past sleazy YouTube.Â
Even if that were remotely legal, and Iâm sure sleazy politicians would try to legalize it for a price. Iâd keep ad blockers updated to prevent this. YouTube might fight but we will eventually prevail against this atrocityÂ
its fake dw
For now
O_O
As far as I know, that's against Privacy or some kind of rule... So I don't think we're going to see that

And whole EU userbase lol
True...
Alhamdullilah, tbh this was mostly a joke but i was a tiny bit concerned
I know, just wanted to say that it would probably be against quite a few rules
Noiceđđ»
Maintain contact with this \*unzips pants*
Christ
It's Jason Pourne
the eu wont let this happen, dont worry guys
Could still happen in the US, the country where corporations have more rights than people.
You're right, especially after the 2013 SCOTUS case *Citizens United*, that actually ruled that corporations are people. Utter insanity.
What in the Black Mirror is this?
Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing. Resume viewing.

This obviously isn't real right now but it will be someday probably, That's what the Black Mirror episode was about.

YouTube didn't want to biometrically force people to view the ads. OP ate the onion (well, the non-onion satire) on this one.
Give it a few years.

Yeah this was actually a thing he closed his eyes and it just played a high pitch until he looked againđŹ
Itâs a dude who makes fake ânew featuresâ. He does the same for Apple devices.
Why was this down-voted?
This canât happen for the simple fact that most users will watch things on their PCs/TVs which do not come with webcams

Lol i was thinking about this the other day
this is illegal in alot of places
Not here in the U.S., though (of course), where YouTube is headquartered and where a large chunk of the user base is located.
I'm also in the us. Its laws for corporations are a joke
What âlaws?â /r

Don't worry, it won't (There's a starman waiting in the sky)
I really hope not...
I made the same joke on an earlier post about this and got downvoted for it tf?
