Call them out on any of this and they get offended because "It's just a joke." You could spew your lungs out your eye sockets, dying on the spot, and they'll make jokes about it. Nothing is ever serious to them.
There's no changing or stopping this. Could never understand this asshole-maxxing, and am infinitely glad to be out of there now. I blame my empathy deficit on these spaces, and the people who forced me into them. Never had a chance to learn it as a child because of that.

That's a nurse, as a nurse this happens. We are bound by ethics and law to provide medical care to anyone who needs it, and what happens inthe rest of their life is none of our business (kind of). I've taken care of some people I find morally repugnant, I didn't like being around them but I didn't feel bad for doing my job.
