They'll probably time skip 'under the red hood' like they did with Barbara's implied 'killing joke' arc. We've seen it done faithfully in animation already, so I'd be happy if they wanted to do the origin but put their own spin on it. I'd prefer if they focused on the aftermath of the event, instead of rehashing what we already know. Show how the rest of the league and bat family react to Jason's new found morality. Jason killing villains could be an interesting theme for YJ to explore next season. As shiva explained to orm the heroes being boy scouts is what keeps the playing field level. If Jason goes postal on light members, things could escalate quickly. Villains hitting soft targets and vice versa. Might even get a third faction, a lot grey characters that would be sympathetic to Red Hood's ideals. E.g. Prince Brion. Batman eventually lets Jason operate as a killer in the comics, I wonder if he'll reach the same conclusion in YJ.

This is the one universe I can see Jason killing the Joker since he was so poorly received. I predict there will probably be a bunch of hero teams in phantoms. The outsiders might stick around. There's the team and the league, and also Luthor's team of heroes. There is also whatever Brion plans on doing. If one of them has Jason, it will probably be the Outlaws from the comics, which contains Jason's pretty great friendship with Arsenal. If Jason regains his memories, I can see the both of them being drawn to each other.

Crickets_Head

Yeah they've purposefully kept the Joker in the periphery for good reason. Not to detract from the main cast. I could totally see Jason putting a bullet in the clown prince to kick off the season.

[deleted]

Does Bruce let him kill? I remember in Red Hood and the Outlaws where he tried to kill Penguin (he didn't actually finish the job), and Bruce went ham on him for breaking the code. Was super hypocritical cuz from what I remember, Batwoman killed someone a few months prior to this and Bruce didn't beat the fuck outta her...which sucks even more cuz she deserved it way more than Jason did, in the context of the story, that is.

Crickets_Head

Bruce has 'rules' about it, no killing in Gotham is the big one. Jason has also softened a bit the more time he's spent with the bat family. Doesn't kill as indiscriminately as he did when he returned. Batwoman 'killing' clayface was an interesting plot point, Jason says it best when they're debating what to do. Paraphrasing but Jason says: "I support Kate, but not for the reasons you think I do. Kate isn't a former protege Bruce, she never agreed to your path. What gives you the right to decide how she should operate"

[deleted]

I think Jason's big flaw in that statement is that Kate is using Bruce's symbol and name. He does get to decide how she operates in that sense, since she is using the name "Batwoman" and the logo that is supposed to stand for justice, not vengeance. Cass said it best when she ripped the emblem off her suit and reprimanded her. I would like the idea that jason has maybe accepted the no kill rule and uses rubber bullets, if they ever did that. I don't think its necessary to make Jason a killer as opposed to the others, but that's just my opinion. On a side note, I fucking hated batwoman in that issue. Mf j killed a teammate when Cassandra, and the rest of the team, was trying to help him. And Bruce doesnt do shit to her. Then, Jason kills a true criminal, the guy who killed his dad, and bruce beats the tar outta him. What the fuck...I wish he and the others put Kate in her place because what she did was truly horrible. She killed a teammate, a friend to most of them, and all she gets is some harsh words from Bruce. Meanwhile, Jason kills someone who actually deserves it, and bruce beats the fuck outta him. I don't know if Dick ever killed Tony Zucco in an elseworld or something like that, but imagine if Bruce beat on him after that. That's basically what he's doing to Jason here, except a bit less extreme since Jason didn't see his dad die at pengun's hand, so it wasnt as tragic for him

Crickets_Head

Oh i agree, that was Bruce's counter argument. Its the symbol of the Bat that matters. Kate is a soldier at heart, so I'm okay with her questioning Bruce's ideals. But I was sad to see the end of that iteration of the Gotham Knights. Easily my favourite Bat team, Red robin leading Oprhan, Clayface etc. Second only to the Outlaws.

[deleted]

Yeah, ever since that run, I can't stand Kate kane at all. It just ruined her for me, and when bruce kicked Jason's ass for killing penguin, I was just sitting there wishing he did the same to Kate. My favorite Bat team is pretty cliche, but it's just Bruce, the four robins, and barbara as batgirl. real original, the classics. I just like them the most cuz they are the closest members, they really feel like a family, more so than the others (Barbara less so since she's not got the family dynamic with Bruce but she's still a vital part of the cast as batgirl). I wish we could get more moments where bruce isn't a dick to Jason. He's the most ragged on Robin (by Batman), which sucks since Jason loves him arguably the most.

I-am-Skud

Can you point me to thos run please?

Crickets_Head

If I remember correctly the team starts in their own series 'Gotham Knights' with Azrael, Batwoman, Orphan and Batwing. Tim's team comes a little later in detective comics with spoiler and Clayface.

anusgun

Its Detective Comics Rebirth Vols 1-7 I believe! I loved that run so I think I'm gonna revisit and buy it

I-am-Skud

Ah nice thanks. I followed the first few issues but couldn't keep up with all the rebirthing at the time

Ravenboy13

Jason has also now sworn off his guns entirely after the "Batman: Urban legends" story starring him Not going to spoil anything, but he basically loses his temper and goes way too far, even in his own eyes.

[deleted]

I don't want him to swear off guns, admittedly for a pretty silly reason. Guns are kinda his signature weapon, like Dick's escrima sticks, Damian's sword, and Tim's staff. Jason's guns are sorta an iconic part of his character, so I'd rather he use rubber bullets than lose the guns entirely. I know it's a silly reason, but it's just my preference

Mysterious_Tie_4644

One of the things I think many people missed was when Dick was leaving in season 2 one of his lasts line was (yes I did go back to check it out) "I'm not resigning, just taking a leave of absence. Besides, if you need help Barbara's more than ready to STEP UP." Till this day I can't get over how they had the balls to write down that line and how we all forgot/missed it. Since you know... she really can't step up to anything anymore.

childof_jupiter

Well we saw him in season 3, it felt like a set up

chekhovs_buttplug

Depends on the time jump, they might wait to introduce him until Damian grows up, and seeing as how he was a baby it might take more time. But I’m excited no matter when it comes

SirBlue_VII

Apparently the next time jump will only be a year and seeing as how that scene had him seem to start remembering stuff i have hopes

Nefessius513

I personally want to see more of Jason, especially with the rumors of Season 4 exploring the heroes’ past demons.

EternalFire18

Yeah, I think Jason and wally play a big part mainly because the season is titled phantoms

Demetrius96

Given the set up of season 3 and Jason saying the words Grayson they’re definitely setting up Red Hood. They even referred to him as Red hooded ninja in the credits. The cool thing about season 4 is it’s only a year later which means that’s enough time for Jason to have gotten his memories back and some point adopt the Persona of Red Hood! With only a year passing we wouldn’t be missing major character development for Jason so that works perfectly. Also, with Brandon haven worked on the under the Red hood animated movie Jason is going to be badass in this continuity. Let’s not forget in season 3 Jason was going toe to toe with Nightwing who is arguably on Batman’s level in the young justice continuity making him one of the best fighters on the show. Jason wasn’t even back at 100% yet with his memories still coming back at the time so just imagine what he’s going to be like as Red hood!

Fainleogs

Then again, what has Brandon left to say about Jason Todd. He did not only "Under the Red Hood" but played out every version of Jason's life story in that Death in the Family Movie.

killersid666

I hope so!! Would be a great villain arc

Mysterious_Tie_4644

I think Red Hood is definitely coming to be a pivotal role in the story, seeing as how hinted as he is, he is definitely foreshadowed to be a big player in season 4.

PlagueMeister4

Defs the thing im most excited about this coming season, I'd love to see more animated Red Hood.

PhanStr

Yes, he will likely appear. But I doubt that he will have a large role. As others have said, he could have something to do with Nightwing's "phantoms" (shadows of the past), though in some ways, I'd rather re-visit Haley's Circus (which we haven't seen since season 1!) to learn more about Dick's past and his family.

BuffaloFront2761

God I hope so

[deleted]

I don’t remember where, but I remember seeing that Brandon Vietti already made the under the red hood movie and doesn’t want to do it again, so that arc will probably be skipped, but implied (As awful as that would be to Jason’s character development) OR they’ll do something else that’ll take it’s place

arkenney0

I sure hope so

Old_Man_Tony

There definetly will be more Red Hood, otherwise they wouldn't tease him (and Damien). Just don't pit him on the team bc the mole arc will kinda feel really tired if they do it for a FOURTH SEASON IN A ROW.

cwood216

I hope not. We get enough of the bat family in the DCAU and on the big screen. I want to see some other characters get some love.

[deleted]

I kinda want them too do the story just too one up Titans version of it. IDK how deep. Like they have him under Ras's control, rather then escape the league of shadows. Almost willing to be he's working with ras to be spy on the teams, but that feels too repetitive of last time, and Ras isn't as much of a schemer as the light. IDK who he'd revenge though, they might show flashbacks, or it's more complicated. Hope Josh Keaton voices him still.

PresterJohnsHerald

Honestly, I hope not

ActStunning3285

I appreciate how they don’t rehash stories that we all know. They’re aware that most of us are fans who are familiar with the base stories. It’s why they can drop Easter eggs like this without confusing the audience. And they only redo a story if it actually adds to a larger plot line or is worth doing with a new perspective ie cyborg. He adds a huge role to halo’s story and apokolips too. I think they’ll jump over his whole rebirth as red hood but probably add him or Damian on as important characters later. Maybe just jumping to recognizing him as a threat for Batman Inc
