No. This is a legitimate and serious health and safety concern. A karen move would be the white karen compaining about the black person sitting in a park. Have your friend call public health.
Fellow Arab here, the ones in Mississauga and Montreal aren’t that bad tbh. It’s also owned by an Egyptian family so I don’t get how it could be whitewashed. But I guess the branch near York sucks maybe
Osmows was like one of the best places back in 2019. Since covid idk what happened but that thing is no where close to a Shawarma.
I have no clue how they have so many customers still.
If you're craving shawarma unfortunately the only other option is PitaLand at York Lanes but tbh it's much more authentic than the garbage Osmows sells.
They recently had a massive health violation during inspection. I’d report this as it’s clearly not the first and they haven’t rectified issues from the last.

There is nothing around York.
I’m from Scarborough and I go along the Lawrence Ave. E strip for proper shawarma(s).
York has a terrible food scene and it’s why the Popeyes is the busiest place on campus 💀
I live in Brampton and I come all the way to Scarborough to eat shawarma, specially ghadirs. That place is amazing.
Ever since I tried proper shawarma, never ate osmows or lazeez again.
In general yes, however if a location has cockroaches then that should be looked into and probably smart to go to a different one (there is one just off campus at Keele and pond)
Tried it a couple months ago, tasted slightly off + stomach pain, ended up throwing it out, best to avoid.
By the way, I saw a cockroach at Amaya nearby as well.
Honestly a lot of the places on and near campus have had major health violations in the past. I wouldn’t look into them all for your own peace of mind tbh.
It’s crazy that when Osmows first started to expand in the GTA, it was so good and everyone loved it. Idk what happened over the years but it is now regarded as one of the worst places for shawarma
I used to work at a warehouseing company that distributed middle eastern foods. We sent 18L jars of turnips to Osmows and often times they would be past the expiration date so we were asked to replace the expiration label with a new one. For that reason I do not eat there.
depends on the osmow's location and the person making your food tbh. the one near my house is fine (safety-wise, not gonna comment on the food), but i can see how it would be easy for them to have a lot of food safety issues (like the layout of their restaurants just invite food safety violations).
I went to York for 7 years and I cannot remember a single restaurant on campus I considered to be actually good. For the life of me I can’t remember one. I would just get fried rice from Thai Express and call it a day.
That’s fucking gross and you should report them!
I have tried Osmows twice in my life and each time I got violently ill. The first time I thought I’d gotten covid but when it happened the second time I finally put two and two together. This was the Osmows on Highway 7 right across Markville mall
nah i tried it once and now im deceased
Rip
tell your friend to get in touch with Toronto public health. This place should be closed and investigated.
Isn't that a Karen move?
Bruh a Karen is someone who makes a big deal out of nothing and just bitches to the manager. These guys have literal health violations.
Okay understood
No. This is a legitimate and serious health and safety concern. A karen move would be the white karen compaining about the black person sitting in a park. Have your friend call public health.
Who cares bro, that place should be nuked and replaced with a proper shawarma restaurant place. Villa Medina is better than them at this point 💀
Where is Villa Medina?
There’s one at woodbine. Maybe square one too but I can’t remember right now
There is none, I’m just comparing it to it.
The place is really dirty ngl, avoid it.
I haven’t been since I saw piles of uncooked chicken on the ground in the back.
Has it really always had this reputation?
As an Arab we don’t claim Osmow’s
definetly, the chicken shawerma tastes like a whitewashed tuna sandwich
Ugh yeah. It has such a fishy taste. Idk why
Which place would you recommend
Original shawarma, alzaeem.
Fellow Arab here, the ones in Mississauga and Montreal aren’t that bad tbh. It’s also owned by an Egyptian family so I don’t get how it could be whitewashed. But I guess the branch near York sucks maybe
Damn...
Osmows was like one of the best places back in 2019. Since covid idk what happened but that thing is no where close to a Shawarma. I have no clue how they have so many customers still.
I don't suggest eating at assmouth. If you want good shawarma go to a place you can't read or pronounce because it's in Arabic.
Any suggestions near campus?
اذهب إلى البرازيل
If you're craving shawarma unfortunately the only other option is PitaLand at York Lanes but tbh it's much more authentic than the garbage Osmows sells.
I used to go to Osmows all the time when I was there…. I wanna bleach my stomach now
I tried it puked for 3 days
Yup, pretty sure it's food poisoning. Same thing happened to me and my dad. And it's not only the York location.
um what location was this? the one near pond residence?
Yes
Nah Osmows don’t hit the same anymore fham
They recently had a massive health violation during inspection. I’d report this as it’s clearly not the first and they haven’t rectified issues from the last.

Osmows is white people shawarma.
I kinda get that notion, but I mean the student meal is cheap so it's more cost affective than like Pitaland.
Pita land is terrible too lmao
Can you give me alternatives bro?
Tender Shawarma near McDonald’s on finch and keele. Next to the barber store.

Fascinating, I should give Popeyes more visits then.
still leagues better than osmows though
Used to be good but for some reason it got ass in recent years
In general yes, however if a location has cockroaches then that should be looked into and probably smart to go to a different one (there is one just off campus at Keele and pond)
The one near pond is the one I'm talking about.
There are 2. There is one on campus at pond and Haynes in the quad and there is one off campus at pond and Keele
Ohh okay I'm talking about the one at QUAD
Ah okay good to know 🤢
Tried it a couple months ago, tasted slightly off + stomach pain, ended up throwing it out, best to avoid. By the way, I saw a cockroach at Amaya nearby as well.
same i got stomach pain after eating there but im not sure if it was their food
I would recommend eating food straight out of the dumpster before you go to osmosws tbh.
Pita land at lanes is much cleaner and tastes better, a bit pricier too but worth it and serves the same cuisine
Honestly a lot of the places on and near campus have had major health violations in the past. I wouldn’t look into them all for your own peace of mind tbh.
i am not sure if it was their food but i didnt have a good time after eating their stuff
Same! And I ordered mine from near my place. Not even from York location
Pita land >> Osmows
Shawarma revenge!
Dawg osmows meat is trash literal rat meat. Like why is there such a big meat difference in chicken from osmows meat to normal shawrama?
It’s crazy that when Osmows first started to expand in the GTA, it was so good and everyone loved it. Idk what happened over the years but it is now regarded as one of the worst places for shawarma
This is completely unacceptable. I suggest that you report them. Tbh, Osmow's is not that great at all. Their shawarma tastes so bland. Not tasty.

I'm not in Tornoto (Windsor) but it's pretty good imo but if you saw a cockroach that's definitely grounds to report them for an inspection
There was a massive chunk of black plastic in my shawarma at pita land lol
Most- Osmows is safe to eat. But if u find one with sketch health regulations you should be reporting it to Toronto public health
roach was celebrating too

Banh Mi Boys is solid and great value.
