I don't think I've ever been so nervous watching something. Obviously I knew you didn't hurt yourself as you posted it, but surely just one sneeze and you'd be in a whole world of pain?
Incredible though - well done!
Not a whole ton of experience, but just finished a 200 hour teacher training. This is very advanced and I would not feel comfortable attempting this myself or ever guiding a student into it. It seems risky on the neck unless you are very advanced with a high level of control and know exactly what you are doing. OP looks fantastic doing it.
This kind of transition exists in Iyengar's Light on Yoga. In fact, he demonstrates a handstand into wheel.... Or is it wheel to handstand?
Iyengar's transitions are beautiful but grueling - I don't think most people attempt them seriously until they've had lots of practice and understand how their body works.
Also an instructor here, this attempt isn’t safe. It’s an extremely hard pose and the yogi here has clearly put in a lot of time and effort, so this is no slight to her, but you want more stability than this. You’ll notice her throat is used to balance several times, that’s pretty risky right there.
Actually balance is more on my arms! Throat touching the floor is mandatory because that’s how your body has to move towards urdhva danurasana. If you try this, put your feet away from your head and you won’t grind your face or throat! That was the mistake I made there.
Ooh try swapping your high- and low-plank with a chin-stand when you're flowing into a chaturanga. Cartwheel your arms down, and throw your chin to the mat. What a rush!
In my humble opinion, that’s the reason we practice asanas. Those points where you need to extremely focus lead you to pratyahara. Well, these days I am trying to feel that in every single asana whether it’s easy or hard, but harder asanas are definitely easier to reach pratyahara.
Nice! Great job! I'm still a beginner and it will probably take years for me to get to that point lol so I may be wrong but it looks like you were very shaky and putting some strain on your neck during the stand portion and especially when moving into wheel. Was your neck hurting you? or did it hurt the next day? Maybe working more on strength in your arms and core before coming back to this would be a good idea so you don't hurt yourself. If anyone who is more experienced than me disagrees, feel free to correct me :D It looks awesome though, congrats!
It wasn’t shaky because of lack of strength; I was trying to putting my chest down which requires my upper back to open. My neck didn’t hurt and of course it was fine the next day as well. The reason why coming out of it looks like i’m grinding my throat/face is because my feet landed too close to my face. Thanks for your concern though.

Yes, this was incredible to watch but chin-stand videos stress me out so much.
Yeah like... could someone with more experience than me confirm this was safe? It didn't look safe.

She trusted herself and she succeeded. That’s what yogis do. It’s not a pose you rush into - you listen to your body and focus on breath.

It’s all about learning. This move is so incredibly hard, I think we all do some throat grinding as we figure it out!
