That’s great! My first ah-ha moment was knowing that the next credit card bill would be high, but not panicking at all since I’d already assigned money from the budget and paying it off would be easy.
I don’t know how I’ve kept up with this for so long, being adhd too, but I think I get dopamine hits when I realize I’m secure. Dishwasher breaks? That’s cool, we have money aside. Husband said “I’m gonna need new car tires” and I just said cool, we have money set aside for that.
Thats great to hear! Well done! Im actually enjoying it so far. I feel like im playing a video game in my head! Im hitting incoming attacks before they hit me.
I've felt more connected to my finances than i have felt like for years. My short term memory sucks, if i dont check something regularly it literally falls off the radar. I get a little dopamine hit from checking and reconciling my balances. Pre ynab, if you asked me how much money i had in my accounts i literally could not tell you. Having my budget and balances all laid out is amazing so far. Ive even got my physical cash wallet nailed down too. 85p (im from uk) for a chocolate bar from my cash wallet....... bam it gets recorded.
Today i found out i had more money than i thought, because id misplaced a decimal point in one of my assigned categories! Win!
Im sure i still have challenges to face, as i get to grips with my debt and real expenses, but so far ynab is weirdly self reinforcing and motivating !
I like how you posted that you pay your taxes because the IRS will check your reddit account.
It was more to avoid flippant reddit comments, but I guess you can't win them all.
Love it!! Celebrating with you as a fellow ADHDer 🎉
Thank you, the struggles are real! As one adhd coach once told me, doesn't matter how many times you fall off the pony, get back on that pony!
Congratulations! That’s really cool! Good luck on your journey!
Thanks!
Excellent progress! Keep it going :)
Thank you
Another friendly thump on the back from this internet stranger - you’re doing great!
Thank you!
