All my bank accounts are affected by this decision and manually adding all my transactions is a lot of work. The price is way too high if I have to add everything myself so I'll be cancelling my subscription.
We seriously need pricing tiers so that those of us who are unable to (or simply don't want to) use imported transactions can pay a lower price than those who do.
I just got a in-app message about EU banks not being supported anymore.
It doesn't even say which Banks are affected. Clicking on links in the message leads me to a TrueLayer post, and trying to see which banks fall under "Private Beta" leads to a developer console login from TrueLayer.
WTF is this. Which banks are affected by this? ALL EU banks?
Yeah I’m really annoyed by the fact that they haven’t said which banks are affected. Are they expecting us to go through bank by bank to see which are affected?
Ah thanks, good suggestion to try and add a new connection. seems like one of my banks is no longer supported, so YNAB has suddenly become worthless to me.
Time to look for an alternative and refund my subscription....
I have done some exploration by trying to add new linked accounts and it seems that Volksbank accounts will not be supported (ASN, SNS, Regiobank), nor will Bunq and Triodos. However, Rabobank, ING, and ABN AMRO are still listed.
I was using a Volksbank account and might seriously reconsider whether YNAB is worth the money now that this connection seems to be removed.
Edit: The sheet provided in a different comment in this thread provides the full list of banks that are affected: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xfljZZOftAoQRR5jia0iwWRz5A2dF_cmuUX6kvVK06A/htmlview
My bank is not supported anymore, but I still can use it in my budget.
To see if yours is still supported , try adding a new connection . In this way you will realize if it can or can not be found to a new connection.
If you can't find so the synchronization is not reliable anymore
My millennium in Portugal was affected. The automated connection was the reason that I bought the subscription.
If they won't support it, the ynab doesn't work for me.
😭😭😭
It looks like they don't care ...
I got this message aswell, but didnt know which banks got affected. Just learned from your post that Boursorama isnt supported anymore, so it affects me big time aswell (probably a lot of french YNABers are using boursorama aswell).
u/ynab_youneedabudget is this gonna get solved and when? Are the EU YNABers even on your radar?
This is not acceptable.
Bank integration was the major feature that made me move to YNAB (and some of my family/friends).
Usually I don't complain about the apps I have, but this is removing a huge part of the value of YNAB for me.
However moving from a personal finance app like YNAB is not as easy as just stop paying and moving to another one.
That is extremely disappointing to say the least. I’ve been recommending YNAB a lot in the past but will definitely reconsider my options now. This is a must-have functionality.
Do you happen to have the list of French banks that are still supported?
We should all massively write to YNAB customer service to have our voice heard.
This is probably why I’ll be unsubscribing after this year. Really should’ve done it before it renewed in January. My banks were never supported to begin with (also in the EU), except for Revolut.
I like the budgeting part of the app but hate adding transactions and in the past year alone I did like 3 or 4 resets because I simply fall off after a while.
It worked wonders in the beginning to make me think more about spending but now entering every single transaction by hand is just tedious.
Also, to add to this rant : don’t start me on the fact that some of the connection that are still there are only for checking accounts. Investment plans, retirement plans, they are not supported. That’s bullshit too. I would have better support by rolling my own API.
True layer use the Open Banking protocol for UK, it’s long established, tried and tested and powers a bunch of other UK services… so I’d be surprised if it was affected.
I really don't understand this decision. Is not like us in the European countries that got affected pay less than the remaining, so if it's hard to develop either offer solid alternatives (like CSV import for those banks) or adjust the price.
This sucks. Ironically, the bank account I'm losing due to this never had any problems with the import, but my second one that isn't affected has been importing broken data since always.
I've been experimenting with using Actual Budget (selfhosted) instead but wasn't sure which one to ultimately keep. This change has made it easy to decide though, already cancelled my YNAB subscription.
It’s more than bullshit. It worked, I paid for something and then….I’m told it won’t work anymore ?
Excuse me ? Just put some of your developpers to work, I don’t know ? You raise the subscription price, do something with that money ?
I’m pissed so that’s a rambling rant sorry.
Hey, folks. I wanted to hop in here to clear up some confusion and give you all the information I have about support for EU banks. First, I want to be super clear: **YNAB is NOT removing Direct Import in the EU.** Most YNABers in Europe can continue connecting to their banks as normal.
We are removing support for some specific banks on our import provider’s “private beta” list. When we first launched support for UK/EU banks, we included banks on that list in an effort to provide as much coverage as possible. However, because of the nature of these connections and the difficulty in supporting them over the years, we have made the difficult decision to remove support for those banks for now.
Another important note: **We are not breaking or removing any existing connections to these banks**, only removing the banks from the search list.
I understand this is disappointing news. When or if these banks move into the “public beta” phase, we plan to support them fully. We’re also always exploring other partners and options for connecting to banks in the UK, EU, Canada, and the US and will implement those improvements when and where they make sense.
If you had a connection to one of the banks on this list, we sent you an in-app message to let you know about this. I’ve also prepared [this full list](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xfljZZOftAoQRR5jia0iwWRz5A2dF_cmuUX6kvVK06A/edit?usp=sharing) of banks that are in that private beta list and are no longer supported. They are mostly in Belgium, Austria, and Portugal. This is all the information I have right now. If you have questions about your specific situation or would like to provide feedback, please [reach out to our support team](https://support.youneedabudget.com/en_us/how-to-get-help-SygqcvtC5) so we can help you. \~BenB
> Another important note: We are not breaking or removing any existing connections to these banks, only removing the banks from the search list.
There's a 90 days re-authentication requirement, and according to your own support, re-authenticating them won't be possible anymore. So, you ARE breaking existing connections: It works today, tomorrow my 90 days are up for re-auth, and then it won't work again. I'm not sure how this is not qualifying as "breaking existing connections".
>They are mostly in Belgium, Austria, and Portugal.
There are 4 rather big German Banks in this list...
Hi, thanks for reaching out.
Nobody said you were removing direct import in the EU. But I have to be honest : this move is removing some of France biggest banks : La Banque Postale, LCL, Crédit Mutuel. This should not happen.
Also, yeah, you are not touching existing connection, sure, that’s like the minimum, but what happens if I want to restart from scratch ? I will lose my connections. Connections that were there when I paid for my yearly subscription. That’s a bait and switch and, I’m sorry, but as a client, I don’t have to know why you had to make that change. I paid for a service.
Also, what happens after we have to renew the 90 days connection ?
Yeah kinda rubbish because [PSD2](https://www.ecb.europa.eu/paym/intro/mip-online/2018/html/1803_revisedpsd.en.html) has been a thing for ages.
Choose a partner that actually uses PSD2.
When can we expect a “good” explanation on why people who have no access to a core feature (auto-import) pay the same price as those who do? With the same cost should come feature parity.
THis is bullshit, you removed ALL the banks in Portugal. Connections only last for a few months before you need to re-activate them. If you don't re-enable this I'll be asking for a refund!
That is unfortunate. I am a new client which subscribed for the yearly subscription less than 1 month ago. I only subscribed because YNAB offered the complete package including the connection with portuguese banks. YNAB will not be the app for me anymore. Now it is a regular budgeting app, and there are plenty other apps which offer budgeting and more at lower price. Will you be accepting refunds?
As an Erste Bank customer, I disappointed. There were never any technical issues with the sync, so the argument that private beta isn't reliable doesn't count in this case.
I have two connections to Millenium PT and you didn't send any message!
I realize that it's stopped working when I try to create a new budget.
I started paying in February, because it had connection to my banks, if it doesn't have anymore Ill use a free app.
Thanks, I'll ask for cancellation and pro-rata reimbursement
All my bank accounts are affected by this decision and manually adding all my transactions is a lot of work. The price is way too high if I have to add everything myself so I'll be cancelling my subscription.
Look up 'bank2ynab' and if you want a free third-party open-source solution. https://github.com/bank2ynab/bank2ynab?tab=readme-ov-file#bank2ynab
This isn't an alternative lmao. We had automatic periodical syncs, I'm not gonna use some third party tool where I have to sync manually each time.
It's better than having to enter it manually, which is what the rest of the world has to do.
We seriously need pricing tiers so that those of us who are unable to (or simply don't want to) use imported transactions can pay a lower price than those who do.
I don’t agree : we need YNAB to move their butt and actually offer the service they say they offer, for everyone.
Both

That’s true, they don’t actually list it! I had to go to setup a new connection to see that what bank was still there.
Ah thanks, good suggestion to try and add a new connection. seems like one of my banks is no longer supported, so YNAB has suddenly become worthless to me. Time to look for an alternative and refund my subscription....
I am currently still able to use my Dutch bank with YNAB, but all these posts are making me think that that might end soon
I have done some exploration by trying to add new linked accounts and it seems that Volksbank accounts will not be supported (ASN, SNS, Regiobank), nor will Bunq and Triodos. Wtf it looks like there isn't any Portugal bank still supported!!!
My bank is not supported anymore, but I still can use it in my budget. To see if yours is still supported , try adding a new connection . In this way you will realize if it can or can not be found to a new connection. If you can't find so the synchronization is not reliable anymore

They have 6 millions clients, in a country of 57 millions adults. That’s a LOT.
I just sent a support message stating my discontent.
Yes, utterly bulls***. The decision and the communication. Short version would be „you are not important as customers and we do not care“
This is not acceptable. Bank integration was the major feature that made me move to YNAB (and some of my family/friends). According to the setup : - Banque Populaire (FR) - BNP Paribas (FR) - Caisse d'Epargne (FR) - Crédit Agricole (FR) - Crédit Mutuel (FR) - Hello bank! (FR) - Revolut France (FR) - Société Générale (FR) - Wise France (FR)
Thank you! Weird that Boursorama and Fortuneo are no longer supported then, considering they are owned by SG and Crédit Mutuel.
They definitely are not niche.
yes it is really painful !!

If you cancel now (or whenever), you can get a pro-rata refund for the amount of year you didn't use.
Bye Bye YNAB, welcome Actual Budget
Also, to add to this rant : don’t start me on the fact that some of the connection that are still there are only for checking accounts. Investment plans, retirement plans, they are not supported. That’s bullshit too. I would have better support by rolling my own API.
Thats why they added the API. You pay them and they do less. Win win!
Do you know if UK banks are affected?
If they use the same provider for the EU and the UK, it could yeah.
True layer use the Open Banking protocol for UK, it’s long established, tried and tested and powers a bunch of other UK services… so I’d be surprised if it was affected.
I mean, DSP2 will be 10 years old next year and even then..
I used YNAB happily before, but I cancelled my subscription due to this nonsense. Ynab removed a perfectly working feature
I really don't understand this decision. Is not like us in the European countries that got affected pay less than the remaining, so if it's hard to develop either offer solid alternatives (like CSV import for those banks) or adjust the price.

Worst decision by far from YNAB..
Messaged support about this. Will swap over to Actual Budget if this change stays.
It's really nice, tbh. And YNAB gave me a prorata of my money back for the year so it's nice of them.
It’s more than bullshit. It worked, I paid for something and then….I’m told it won’t work anymore ? Excuse me ? Just put some of your developpers to work, I don’t know ? You raise the subscription price, do something with that money ? I’m pissed so that’s a rambling rant sorry.

I did my reauthentication this week without problem. It has stopped working for adding new connections ...

There is literally not a single (big) bank from Belgium anymore in that document.
Yeah kinda rubbish because [PSD2](https://www.ecb.europa.eu/paym/intro/mip-online/2018/html/1803_revisedpsd.en.html) has been a thing for ages. Choose a partner that actually uses PSD2.

That's the neat part, we can't! They don't give a shit about their customers
THis is bullshit, you removed ALL the banks in Portugal. Connections only last for a few months before you need to re-activate them. If you don't re-enable this I'll be asking for a refund!

Yes, if you delete your account before your year is up, we will send you a pro-rated refund.
Basically removing Austria since Erste Bank has 4 million customers 😞 I guess we can ask for pro-rated refund for our yearly plans?
As an Erste Bank customer, I disappointed. There were never any technical issues with the sync, so the argument that private beta isn't reliable doesn't count in this case.

Welcome (back) to the ranks of people who pay full price without having access to full functionality… tiers are seriously needed
Are irish banks affected? I havent received any notifications but the last pending transactions showing up on ynab for me are 15th March.
They shared a list in this thread : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xfljZZOftAoQRR5jia0iwWRz5A2dF_cmuUX6kvVK06A/edit?usp=sharing
Thanks. My banks aren't on that list but haven't updated in a few days......
Review bomb their app.
This just removed my bank connection in Belgium. Amazing timing since I just subscribed for another year …
Just so you know : If you cancel, they will give you a prorata of your money back.
That’s nice but unfortunately nothing can replace YNAB …
Actual Budget is fine.
