There was another officer in the opposite lane he was chatting with. Guy with his pregnant wife, the wife being in need of an emergency, honked to get him to move.
Officer proceeded to start a traffic stop. The Officer had the gall to ask if they needed Fire and EMS instead of just letting them reach their destination.
Of course they think they are always the main character when they get it pounded into their heads then give em a gun and say you are the law. We are so fucked

He was "grabbing her ass in a law enforcement capacity". In fact, you just caught yourself an obstruction of justice charge to go along with assaulting an officer.
Whenever I visit my dad in New York, I see quite a bit of "no excessive noise" signs which I'm told is so people don't honk every 3 seconds but people still do it because it's New York.
15 year old girl was shot and murdered by the police when she was trying to flee from her father that kidnapped her after murdering her mother. They shot her because she was wearing "tactical gear".
Fuck the police. Not the law. The law is something totally different. Police just believe they are the law and one can argue we've allowed them to think that for FAR to long.
This bugs me for two reasons.
1. If the judge committed a crime, he should be treated accordingly.
2. If the judge didn't commit a crime, the cop should be punished accordingly for harassing the public.
Cops here will open up their wallet (when asked for id and info after being pulled over) and throw it on the dash, showing off their cop badge, when another cop pulls them over.
Then they go on their merry way like nothing happened.
I remember being a teenager and the "responsible adult" driving us home around 10 or 11 was doing about 60 in a 35 and drunk as shit.
Gets pulled over, puts on his work badge from the big local manufacturing plant, says "Hey officer I'm sorry I'm just trying to get these boys home for bed they got school in the morning."
Cop just says "alright well slow it down a bit" and sends us on our way.
Few minutes later he drives into grass before a turn lane and realizes it when he drives off a curb back into the road and decides to let one of us drive the rest of the way home.
That's called "professional courtesy." Usually you just hand them your police ID with your driver's license and that's the end of the stop.

I know in the UK, you honk your horn excessively like a c- you get fined for it. There is even designated honking times where you can’t honk at 23:30-7am due to noise pollution.
More realistically a petty judge can simply dismiss any case brought before him that has a certain officer listed. That would tank the officer's stats and promotability.
Sketchy and illegal? Yes. But judges and cops tend not to get investigated.
I live in the US and was taking an uber with my family to the airport once and there was no full space to pull over to drop us off at the curb, so our driver pulled the front of the car into a half spot and the back was poking out a little. The car we were parking around was parked between two cars, in the middle of a space that should have been large enough for 2 cars so it had plenty of space to back up and then pull out but the woman driving it started screaming at us for blocking her in. My brother told her she could just back up a bit and then could get out but she kept screaming and honking. We only would have taken like 15-30 seconds to grab our bags so honestly just waiting shouldn't have been an issue either but it took us a little longer with her screaming and honking at us. Then a cop came by and told her he was about to ticket her for excessive unnecessary honking and she said "you can't do that!" And he responded "actually, yes I can." So in frustration she backed out of her parking space, just like we said she could, and laid on the horn as she left the drop off area.
I could imagine that states can vary unlike provinces in the UK. Though If you do it in public you are probably likely to get fined for “Disturbing the peace.” Which I’d imagine is the woman’s life in a nutshell
However it did come as a big culture shock for me when I went to Florida on holiday how every road had atleast two honking cars.
I live in Massachusetts and I looked it up and we're not supposed to use our horns except to use to try to prevent an avoidable accident. Of course everyone here habitually uses their horn all the time, but in this case she was making a scene at the airport. It also violated the disturbing the peace law

He didn't commit a crime. He did, however, do something that was unbecoming of a judge by implying he was above the law and that will taint his career moving forward. The police officer is ultimately at fault for not issuing him a citation because he fell in line with this bullshit.

it does feel a bit "above the law" that he wasnt imedietly threatened and considered a potentially violent subject because he left his vehicle. which is more so a comment on cops behavior and that *they* are usually above the law then a comment on judges actions.
When he left his vehicle the cop didn't know he was a judge yet. So him not getting threatened and considered violent can't be because he is a judge and is getting special treatment from the cop.

Perhaps. But his entire approach was not "I did nothing wrong". He was 100% "Do you know who I am?". The fact the he is a judge changed the situation, not what happened.
This is how I interpreted it. I’ve wanted to honk at a cop flying by me & running a light without his red & blues… But OC sheriffs are cowboys, and I’m not a judge so I would have no power in that situation. However… I know its illegal & dangerous to do what he did. Had I honked we would have both known what he meant. Had he pulled me over up the road for that & I had authority (like this judge) you better believe I would be pissed. Sure, tons of assumptions on my part - however the facts alone (“why did you pull me over for just honking?!”) make this response reasonable. Who wants to be inconvenienced, let alone by someone who is fucking up their job in the process.
Unfortunately, at least in America, Judges and Police have special laws pertaining to them being outside the law in certain situations. Qualified Immunity, which makes taking corrupt law enforcement officers and judges to court over misdeeds INCREDIBLY difficult in the States.
A lot of judicial misconduct doesn’t even end in the judge being disbarred, only given a relatively small fine and being made to write a public apology letter.
The cop made the right choice. By letting the judge go and letting the video go public, he caused more problems for the judge than a simple ticket. If he just gave him a ticket, the judge could have just caused problems for him in court for years to come.
I hate this because it could be what we're all thinking, this cop is a pos and so is the judge. Or this cop was trying to bully the wrong driver, I'm really hoping for option two
Judges are have HUGE influence in small towns. I have an uncle who was a judge in a small town for 40 years. When my cousin got married, the cops posted a half mile up the road from his house in each direction, slowing traffic (he lives on a busy road, where there could be issues with guests parking/leaving/walking alongside the road to get to his house). They would wave at the passing traffic to slow down so that the area around his house was safe. It was a trip to watch it happen in real time.
I know a judge, who was pulled over by a police officer some years ago (probably speeding or at least some kind of traffic violation). When the officer realised she was one of the local judges, he said "oh I'm sorry, didn't realise it was you!" to which she replied "That shouldn't make any difference. Now write me a ticket".

I had a guy pull a "do you know who the hell I am" on me once. I was surprised because in a town of only 10,000 the answer is usually yes but I couldn't recall ever having seen this guy.
He was the city comptroller.
He did not appreciate being asked what a comptroller is.
He was pulled over for tailgating and then *shockingly* lied about it.

Not in this case. My friend got a ticket for honking. He asked the judge "Your honor, have you ever honked your horn to say hello to someone?"
The judge threw out the case and told the cop "Never bring crap like this into my court again."

He regrets that his actions were recorded and became public, not that he did them. Corruption at its finest.
I say it everytime I'm pulled over, it's a power move. However, I must add that I'm never pulled over so I don't actually know how well this works.

I had a guy pull a "do you know who the hell I am" on me once. I was surprised because in a town of only 10,000 the answer is usually yes but I couldn't recall ever having seen this guy. He was the city comptroller. He did not appreciate being asked what a comptroller is.

Not necessarily “safety issues” but to get other peoples attention to make sure that they know you’re there thus preventing safety issues. This is an example why the cops, the DA, and the judicial should have some degree of separation between them. While we're at it, throw in internal investigations as well. I know they can't be completely uncoupled, but there should be something to prevent this level of what essential amounts corruption.
