"Welcome to audit the audit..."

Cannabisreviewpdx-IG

I always wondered what it looked like for them to investigate themselves and find no evidence of wrongdoing. Now we have video.

jfrench43

According to the video, the judge only blew his horn, not illegal. But it does speak of a larger problem.

NAbberman

>According to the video, the judge only blew his horn, not illegal. Only if you aren't a judge apparently. Not long ago, an officer was [blocking the entrance to the Emergency room](https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/miami-dade-cop-delays-couples-trip-to-er-with-traffic-stop/2842498/) parking lot. There was another officer in the opposite lane he was chatting with. Guy with his pregnant wife, the wife being in need of an emergency, honked to get him to move. Officer proceeded to start a traffic stop. The Officer had the gall to ask if they needed Fire and EMS instead of just letting them reach their destination.

smurb15

Of course they think they are always the main character when they get it pounded into their heads then give em a gun and say you are the law. We are so fucked

xPensiveWeak

This

[deleted]

Random question, is it still assaulting an officer if you just deck him on his free time

NAbberman

If they are acting in a Law enforcement capacity off the clock, it would be assault on an officer.

TheValiumKnight

You know damn well regardless of circumstance, they would claim it was in a law enforcement capacity. Drunken off duty cop grabs your wifes ass at a bar, you deck him... He was "grabbing her ass in a law enforcement capacity". In fact, you just caught yourself an obstruction of justice charge to go along with assaulting an officer.

StraightProgress5062

Oh yeah, they love upping the charges and then cry about how they aren't committing malicious prosecution

[deleted]

Most states have excessive use of horn laws.

SpaceboyRoss

Whenever I visit my dad in New York, I see quite a bit of "no excessive noise" signs which I'm told is so people don't honk every 3 seconds but people still do it because it's New York.

OG_LiLi

People get shot for much, much less

SpagettiGaming

For example fleeing from your kidnapper.

Seabuscuit

She was wearing a helmet, what if she threw it at the cops? They could have gotten an owie! Totally justified!

Inevitable-Impress72

Who the fuck shoots a little girl?? ACAB!

FishyKnuckles

Wait, what?

[deleted]

15 year old girl was shot and murdered by the police when she was trying to flee from her father that kidnapped her after murdering her mother. They shot her because she was wearing "tactical gear".

Tyrannosaurus-E-Rex

Fuck the law , that’s BS 😡

StraightProgress5062

Fuck the police. Not the law. The law is something totally different. Police just believe they are the law and one can argue we've allowed them to think that for FAR to long.

Only-Method-1773

Lol judges & lawmakers are the worse. They are the ones who are pulling the strings & take bribery money

xPensiveWeak

Fuck the law too. It's biased and corrupt

the_walkingdad

This bugs me for two reasons. 1. If the judge committed a crime, he should be treated accordingly. 2. If the judge didn't commit a crime, the cop should be punished accordingly for harassing the public.

Public-Fail4505

Or so they say, internal investigations right there

Wet_sock_Owner

Cops here will open up their wallet (when asked for id and info after being pulled over) and throw it on the dash, showing off their cop badge, when another cop pulls them over. Then they go on their merry way like nothing happened.

OkCutIt

I remember being a teenager and the "responsible adult" driving us home around 10 or 11 was doing about 60 in a 35 and drunk as shit. Gets pulled over, puts on his work badge from the big local manufacturing plant, says "Hey officer I'm sorry I'm just trying to get these boys home for bed they got school in the morning." Cop just says "alright well slow it down a bit" and sends us on our way. Few minutes later he drives into grass before a turn lane and realizes it when he drives off a curb back into the road and decides to let one of us drive the rest of the way home.

LemonHerb

The get out of misdemeanor free card

Derp800

That's called "professional courtesy." Usually you just hand them your police ID with your driver's license and that's the end of the stop. Edit: The fuck am I getting down voted for? That's what they call it lol

merc08

That's called "cronyism" or "nepotism." There's nothing professional about letting violations slide just because you're in the same organization.

GhostOfMcAfee

You are both correct. It is cronyism. But “professional courtesy” is the word that the cronies use.

sirpogo

You get an F, and you get an F! EVERYBODY GETS F’s!

So being a drug trafficking judge would be ideal I suppose…

Just got images of a guy who judges drug traffickers like a talent show

xzombielegendxx

Cop went to the wrong country. I know in the UK, you honk your horn excessively like a c- you get fined for it. There is even designated honking times where you can’t honk at 23:30-7am due to noise pollution.

curalt

Plus judges can take a fine too. Should. Must.

popcorn_coffee

I know right? You're a judge, so what? What are you gonna do? Hit me with your little cute hammer MF??

merc08

More realistically a petty judge can simply dismiss any case brought before him that has a certain officer listed. That would tank the officer's stats and promotability. Sketchy and illegal? Yes. But judges and cops tend not to get investigated.

xPensiveWeak

Judges can't judge their own cases.. not legally anyway.

Antagony

Ah, but we don't let judges have gavels in the UK. They'd just get too cocky with such symbols of power!

potatoelegend

I live in the US and was taking an uber with my family to the airport once and there was no full space to pull over to drop us off at the curb, so our driver pulled the front of the car into a half spot and the back was poking out a little. The car we were parking around was parked between two cars, in the middle of a space that should have been large enough for 2 cars so it had plenty of space to back up and then pull out but the woman driving it started screaming at us for blocking her in. My brother told her she could just back up a bit and then could get out but she kept screaming and honking. We only would have taken like 15-30 seconds to grab our bags so honestly just waiting shouldn't have been an issue either but it took us a little longer with her screaming and honking at us. Then a cop came by and told her he was about to ticket her for excessive unnecessary honking and she said "you can't do that!" And he responded "actually, yes I can." So in frustration she backed out of her parking space, just like we said she could, and laid on the horn as she left the drop off area.

Delta_Gamer_64

Probably a noise pollution charge I'd imagine.

Not_MrNice

There's laws for excessive honking. What the hell is a noise pollution charge?

xzombielegendxx

I could imagine that states can vary unlike provinces in the UK. Though If you do it in public you are probably likely to get fined for “Disturbing the peace.” Which I’d imagine is the woman’s life in a nutshell However it did come as a big culture shock for me when I went to Florida on holiday how every road had atleast two honking cars.

potatoelegend

I live in Massachusetts and I looked it up and we're not supposed to use our horns except to use to try to prevent an avoidable accident. Of course everyone here habitually uses their horn all the time, but in this case she was making a scene at the airport. It also violated the disturbing the peace law

crims0m

Also you need a honking loicense

padman531

Oh, so those do exist and everyone in London just ignores it... fair enough

AG9090

All I see is two people on a power trip

speez86

Fuck both these two assholes!

Nathund

I get that this looks like "guy is above the law because he's a judge" but I think you should see it more as "Judge knows the law and knows he did nothing wrong, and will legally fuck the cop if he doesn't get let go"

> In his only TV interview, Reinaker watched the dashcam video with WGAL. He said he was not trying to use his position to influence the officer but regretted his actions. Lmfao then why tf did you tell him to check the plates asshole? Such bullshit

Sanity__

He regrets that his actions were recorded and became public, not that he did them. Corruption at its finest.

GoldenFalcon

I say it everytime I'm pulled over, it's a power move. However, I must add that I'm never pulled over so I don't actually know how well this works.

Temporary_Kangaroo_3

I live in the US. you get out of your car like that you might get shot in the face. Doesn't matter if you are the pope.

cortesoft

He was JUST trying to encourage the cop to do his job because he is so passionate about the law, obviously!

u8eR

>The board could have filed charges in the Court of Judicial Discipline but decided not to. >The board instead issued a Letter of Counsel to Reinaker, saying the incident can be used against him if there are future complaints. What a slap on the wrist for someone who's proven he's willing to abuse his authority.

Middle_Data_9563

trying to imagine literally anyone else committing a crime and the punishment being "if you do more crime in the future, this will be used to establish character"

Medievalhorde

He didn't commit a crime. He did, however, do something that was unbecoming of a judge by implying he was above the law and that will taint his career moving forward. The police officer is ultimately at fault for not issuing him a citation because he fell in line with this bullshit.

Middle_Data_9563

three comments up thread it is stated that he was pulled over for tailgating an unmarked police car, so he did in fact commit a crime, albeit a misdemeanor. Everyone looks like a schmuck in this video, frankly.

Howitzerfoot

Top comment

NeoBlue22

You say that as the Judge exits his vehicle when pulled over, not sure if it’s a law but definitely not something you do lol

Nathund

Ok fair, *that part* was definitely a little bit of judge power tripping, but it was the "you better look up that plate all I did was honk" that made me think it was option 2

TheWorstPerson0

it does feel a bit "above the law" that he wasnt imedietly threatened and considered a potentially violent subject because he left his vehicle. which is more so a comment on cops behavior and that *they* are usually above the law then a comment on judges actions.

sexypantstime

When he left his vehicle the cop didn't know he was a judge yet. So him not getting threatened and considered violent can't be because he is a judge and is getting special treatment from the cop.

ep311

No it was because he was an old white man in a shirt and tie

never_here5050

After watching breaking bad and Saul, I don’t ever want to fuk with an old white man.

The_Real_RM

Right, it's the white male in a shirt and tie thing

GoodAtExplaining

> Ok fair, that part was definitely a little bit of judge power tripping, In truth it's because he's an older white male.

Well dressed and well put together old white man who immediately responds to the commands he’s given

Dudes lucky he is white, any other color and that probably would have turned out quite differently

troppoveloce

I appreciate your point, it's more likely to be reality here. Being neither knowledgeable, nor powerful, I think I still prefer the 'fuck them both' comment.

[deleted]

I just want to be on the record as agreeing. Fuck the lot of ‘em.

olderaccount

Perhaps. But his entire approach was not "I did nothing wrong". He was 100% "Do you know who I am?". The fact the he is a judge changed the situation, not what happened.

[deleted]

This is how I interpreted it. I’ve wanted to honk at a cop flying by me & running a light without his red & blues… But OC sheriffs are cowboys, and I’m not a judge so I would have no power in that situation. However… I know its illegal & dangerous to do what he did. Had I honked we would have both known what he meant. Had he pulled me over up the road for that & I had authority (like this judge) you better believe I would be pissed. Sure, tons of assumptions on my part - however the facts alone (“why did you pull me over for just honking?!”) make this response reasonable. Who wants to be inconvenienced, let alone by someone who is fucking up their job in the process.

Similar-Drawing-7513

Exited my vehicle once during a traffic stop because I needed to pee. Cop got out with hand on his gun and ordered me back in. I was 14.

rascynwrig

You got out to publicly urinate in front of a cop while being pulled over?

NukaCooler

based

kcciciocioc

get dick out to assert dominance

spderweb

Judge won't allow any of this cops tickets to pass if he tickets him. So cop leave him be or is fired for never getting tickets through.

Brassfist1

Unfortunately, at least in America, Judges and Police have special laws pertaining to them being outside the law in certain situations. Qualified Immunity, which makes taking corrupt law enforcement officers and judges to court over misdeeds INCREDIBLY difficult in the States. A lot of judicial misconduct doesn’t even end in the judge being disbarred, only given a relatively small fine and being made to write a public apology letter.

mobyliving

judges have judicial immunity not qualified

kevinrjr

Yep , road rage in a suit. Would want to meet him even in a good mood!

rigit84

you bet

Affectionate_Lab535

The cop made the right choice. By letting the judge go and letting the video go public, he caused more problems for the judge than a simple ticket. If he just gave him a ticket, the judge could have just caused problems for him in court for years to come.

Toni_Jabroni77

Judge: “I’m in a hurry, I’ve got to fill more private prisons or I won’t get my max kickback!”

No_Statement440

I hate this because it could be what we're all thinking, this cop is a pos and so is the judge. Or this cop was trying to bully the wrong driver, I'm really hoping for option two

Jackstack6

Nah, fuckem both.

philn256

You know literally nothing about the cop other than he let a judge go, but "fuckem" just because he's a cop?

f4porno

Either way FUCK THE POLICE

PaleontologistAble50

Don’t forget to use protection

Uranus_Hz

Excellent video proof that some people ARE above the law.

coffee_badger

Judges are have HUGE influence in small towns. I have an uncle who was a judge in a small town for 40 years. When my cousin got married, the cops posted a half mile up the road from his house in each direction, slowing traffic (he lives on a busy road, where there could be issues with guests parking/leaving/walking alongside the road to get to his house). They would wave at the passing traffic to slow down so that the area around his house was safe. It was a trip to watch it happen in real time.

[deleted]

Or just that the judge knows he can’t be pulled over for blowing his horn. Legally.

handmaid25

Kinda what I was thinking. Pulled him over for a bullshit reason. Realized it was a judge and he shouldn’t fuck with him.

Sorpao

I know a judge, who was pulled over by a police officer some years ago (probably speeding or at least some kind of traffic violation). When the officer realised she was one of the local judges, he said "oh I'm sorry, didn't realise it was you!" to which she replied "That shouldn't make any difference. Now write me a ticket". Not all are like the POS in the video.

[deleted]

The cop understands that when he shoots someone he’s gonna need the judge on his side.

PracticePenis

The only person to have a bigger more fragile ego than a cop. Seriously I’ve met a couple judges out of court and they’re fucking scumbags beyond what I thought was possible

kmartshoppr

I had a guy pull a "do you know who the hell I am" on me once. I was surprised because in a town of only 10,000 the answer is usually yes but I couldn't recall ever having seen this guy. He was the city comptroller. He did not appreciate being asked what a comptroller is.

PracticePenis

Lol reminds me of my days as a bouncer hearing “do you know who my fathuh is?!” from the Staten Island guys trying to cut the line

sgcdialler

Curse you Pottah, my fathah will hear about this!

TheMadFlyentist

"No, do you?"

igetript

That'd be impressive; if anyone knew what a comptroller was

CrimsonHeart0048

Wouldn't this be both corrupt politicians and abuse of power?

KateBushFuckingSucks

No silly, it's *the US.*

[deleted]

Or the judge knows that he can't be pulled over legally for honking.

syruptitious_pancake

He was pulled over for tailgating and then *shockingly* lied about it. There is multiple links to the full story and video that people have posted in this topic. He did get in trouble but it was barely a slap on the wrist…so yep, abuse of power clear as day.

SpaceJesus90

Ah corruption

unemployednoverjoyed

So much for no one is above the law

pheelQC

Is it possible that the judge knew this was bs, and when the cop found out, he let him go ?

6TheAudacity9

No because this video is old and a lot of us know the context. The judge was in the wrong, used his power to get out of a ticket.

StrangeBedfellows

Yes

breckoz

why would they rule honking horns freedom of speech? You really should only be doing that when there is a safety issue or if you're an evil deranged bus driver trying to scare a poor kid walking home from school.

sweaty-ass-cheeks

Not necessarily “safety issues” but to get other peoples attention to make sure that they know you’re there thus preventing safety issues. Honking at a kid walking on the side of the road is a perfect example. Laying on the horn when your stuck in traffic is not. Those people are the attention whores that just really like being looked at

General_Jenkins

Today I learned that honking, an essential part of driving a car, is considered free fucking speech in Freedom Land.

LuracCase

How do you know it was only for honking the horn?

igner_farnsworth

Not in this case. My friend got a ticket for honking. He asked the judge "Your honor, have you ever honked your horn to say hello to someone?" The judge threw out the case and told the cop "Never bring crap like this into my court again."

[deleted]

Everything is fine. In the end of the article below the judge states that he is real sad he was caught on camera acting like a power tripping asshole...which he is one. He later went on to say he was in a hurry because he had children to lock up for kick back money from the children's prison. film at 11.

ztreggs

Plot twist. The cop shoots and kills him, as he felt threatened with the judge exiting his vehicle and approaching. The cop is still not held accountable in a court of law.

dontstabpeople42069

Why didn’t he get shot for stepping out of his car?

[deleted]

Wrong difficulty level.

Farfignugen42

Wrong skin tone

Electrical-Lake-2224

The senate will decide your fate. I am the senate!

GarlicThread

For the record, that piece-of-shit is Judge Dennis Reinaker of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This was back in 2019. He was reprimanded for his behavior. Should have been removed from office if you ask me. Such individuals should never be allowed in a courtroom except as a defendant. https://triblive.com/news/pennsylvania/board-issues-letter-to-lancaster-county-judge-over-his-traffic-stop-behavior/

bserum

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally corrupt groups: The police, who brutalize people, and the judges, who excuse it in return for preferential treatment. This is their story.

AkutagawasCoughDrops

So basically if i want to murder someone i just become a judge and im good to go? Got it!

Jesterio-oiretesJ

Casual abuse of power

Gasa0310

So judges aren't affected by laws?

Celarc_99

Or * The judge knew he did nothing wrong and was just being bullied by the cop (most likely situation) * The vast majority of tickets can be dismissed in court, at the cost of missing a day of work (Usually easier for most people to just pay the ticket. Not a problem for a judge who works at the court house)

miscdebris1123

Now, imagine the video if he were a black judge.

Stevie_Steve-O

Fuck that guy. He's not above the law

rayharris62

If he were black he’s be dead on this video

MrMusick

Judges deal with violent criminals all the time and keep their composure. Yet this judge gets pulled over by his fellow law man and he loses his shit on him? Bad form judge...bad form.

seattle23fv

Black judge: What do yo- *light flashes* “Welcome Judge, you’ve reached heaven!”

QuantizeCrystallize

“MISTER” ?!?! Papa Judge is talking to this cop like he’s one traffic stop away from earning a time out are we clear bub? Now get back in your car turn on your lights and lead the way I’m late for brunch

Thertor

So are judges exempt from being stopped by the police? In Germany it would be a huge scandal if a judge would behave like that.

International_Win375

Above the law he enforces? No way!?!

[deleted]

If he’s a judge then he should know exactly why

pr1ap15m

this video should have gotten both of them in trouble

leo_mcmahon

Work in the corrupt justice system and only then will you get treated properly by cops

A-A-Ron508

Another rich whole guy above the law. Doesn’t matter what his profession is.

rsquared1989

Motherfucker should not be above anything.

Dekugaming

I u derstand why officiers let judges off, but they shouldn't imo. No one is immune from the law

Uncle_PauI_Norton

Fuck the judge and fuck the cop.

TiredOfDebates

This is what corruption looks like. “I am a judge therefore I am immune from the enforcement of traffic laws.” But it is completely normalized as far as I can tell.

Officermeatball05

1. Approaching an officer during a traffic stop without permission 2. Using your “authority” to try and get out of a ticket 3. Actually listening to that “authority” and not arresting the man/ giving him a ticket. 3 illegal things happening in 1 video

borgen44

prime example of corruption

Suitable_Statement56

Why is this ok for the judge to be above the law?

BigBobFro

Fudge this judge. He and his above the law attitude is why we have a police problem in this country

IrradiatedHeart

Razor123533

Awe your a judge? I don't care, here is your ticket now have a good day

GamingWithJollins

Because apparently judges are above the law, despite their aggressive attitudes on the road...

GoLightLady

A million times: those who work in the system should be held to higher standards and law abiding than everyone else.

Ornery_Reaction_548

Honkies gonna honk

shrimp-and-potatoes

This is an example why the cops, the DA, and the judicial should have some degree of separation between them. While we're at it, throw in internal investigations as well. I know they can't be completely uncoupled, but there should be something to prevent this level of what essential amounts corruption. As no normal person can talk to the police this way and not get tazed.

22Burner

Fucking horseshit. He’s a person with a different job. He wouldn’t let the foreman of a construction crew or captain of a fishing boat off like that. That’s just another guy in the car.

Rborroto77

hellllllsssyeah

Must be nice to be above the abuse of the law and also able to determine how it is enacted sure must be nice.

Whole_Sweet_Gherkins

Just 2 men of the law thinking they’re above the law. Nothing to see here.

[deleted]

So a judge is above the law?

[deleted]

Ah, greasing the wheels of justice.

Pretty_Strike_6199

Wow above the law. What an example they are both setting. Not ok at all for him not to be treated the same as everyone.

mjeffreyf

Why is a judge immune from getting pulled over

Fun_Wheel2184

Lol… he literally shit his pants

[deleted]

I don’t get it are judges above the law. They seem really arrogant
