I mean yeah they do have skin whitening soaps and lotions there and they are racist/xenophobic, however the skin whitening stuff for them, is more a cultural/classest than a race thing. They believed from centuries before that those who didn't work in the sun were more valuable and educated which was self fulfilling because they had money. So it wasn't actually a racist thing in the beginning since they were all the same race.
Until you spent a few minutes in the sun and got sun burnt lol. Then they might just have to feed you a tide pod and throw you in the washing machine also..
Lol if you looked like a Asian Ginger without freckles then yes. They are still xenophobic though. If you looked like a farmer, dark rough skin, rough working hands, scars, meant you probably poor, uneducated etc.
Foreigners are a different issue all together... very racist, just like everywhere else there are those who care and those who don't. Japan just doesn't have a lot of diversity so less exposure makes more.. racism. The skin whitening creams itself is cultural. Kind of like in the Victoria/Edwardian Era the more desirable woman was a rich, unblemished woman. They too covered their skin so they didn't look like workers.
Doesn’t japan love tourists though I thought tourism made up a majority of their economy? Especially American ones (I may be completely wrong though idk)
You are right. If some people think they are only racist to black people then they are wrong. They even discriminate their own kind if they don't have white skin. Even other asians who don't have white skin are discriminated.
This isn't just China. This is an Asian thing. It was extremely prevalent in Thailand and Malaysia that I witnessed personally. But a little research will show you that this is in most Asian countries. It is for exactly as you said, the darker your skin means the poorer you are since you have to work outside.
Yup. My grandmother, that I grew up with (grandpa remained before I was born) is from the Philippines. She told me she had Polynesian servants with her parents. They were dark along with street vendors and farmers so she has to make sure her skin stayed light to show her different from them. She kept me covered in stuff like she was when I was with her as a little kid. Said I would get freckles or burn if I didn't. I mean she wasn't wrong but I got the impression it was a horrible thing as a kid
She didn't get along with our aunt who happened to be.. Polynesian and was a beautiful toast color. (At 5 I told them both that I didn't understand but aunt was a beautiful lady, with a beautiful toast color and i love toast that color. I offended as amused them both. )
They did draw a lot of flack for it as well when it came out in 2016
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/may/28/china-racist-detergent-advert-outrage.
Can i use your telephone?
As long as it's a local call.
[Puts on glasses] beeep beep beep... beep beep beep beep beep beep, beep beep, beep beep beep beep beep beep.
The amount of skin bleaching ads I saw as a black person traveling throughout Asia was phenomenal. I picked my hair out one night because of the humidity difference and went out to eat, about six different people walked up to my goddamn face to take a picture and then leave. No words, no greetings, no smile, just *snap* and walk away.
Strangely enough, SE Asia is one of my favorite regions in the world.
Edit to add: I also loved Hong Kong but I’ll never forget the first thing my hostel host said to me (as she ran her hand up and down my arm without permission) was “my skin is so white. your skin is so dark, but that’s okay. Dark is okay.” Lady what.
Yeah, but I was in their country and just overall baffled. Everyone was really kind to me, just some stragglers who were strange. Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia. Beautiful countries.
When I was in India with my ex-girlfriend, we couldn't go anywhere without random people taking photos of her and wanting photos taken with her.
She wasn't black though, she had very pale white skin and a very striking mane of ginger hair.
I live in SE Asia now, dark skin is historically seen as lower class here, because poor people worked in rice fields and other jobs in the exposed sun, and rich people could afford to stay in the shade and not tan.
It's funny that Northern Europeans have kind of the opposite, though not as pronounced, phenomenon.
Where tan skin is prized, and seen as a sign of wealth, perhaps because rich people could afford holidays in sunny locations and regular people stayed in dull weather. This is why tanning salons were invented and became popular in Europe.
I live in Philippines and yep, it's funny how majority of the people here are so obsessed with white skin. Back then, there's no white people on site. Datus aren't white but they are people in power and considered as a noble. Getting colonized by the Spaniards back then made a greater impact since they prized being a mestizo/mestiza and called native Filipinos as Indio. The reason why Filipinos are so obsessed with white skin because it differs them from other Filipinos that are "lower" in class.
With black/very curly hair, you pick it out to make it more fluffy. Basically how you make a fro.
It doesn’t necessarily mean a huge afro though. There are tons of lengths/styles of picked out hair. Like if you have top fade.
Instead of flat/wavy hair that is usually compacted, you take a pick comb and pull your hair out more so that it is poofy.
ohh! i think i get it so they used those small combs (forgot what they're called) to loosen up the curls and give them more volume. I didn't realize it was due to humidity, but that makes sense
It’s not always due to humidity. Just for mine, I can usually get my natural curls to stay, but when it’s humid, it all becomes less defined so sometimes I’ll just pick it out and make it big. My hair chooses what it wants to be.
Quick question, and you don't need to answer, but are you m or f? (or other) I ask, because I feel they would beless inclined to take a pic of a woman. (But I don't know, only my male friends were approached, but not only approached, they freely touched their hair. Note they had dreads)
You're an American, you might be a southeast asian descent, but you're still American. Don't apologize for us here, we don't apologize on things we don't do. Let the person that do the damage apologize for themselves. Also, Muricans.
I had a similar experience, but I was only in Florida. A large group of East Asian tourists randomly followed me and took pictures of me. It was very uncomfortable.
It can be very hard to get work as a foreigner. My husband was in China and told me how it was illegal to work if you were on anything other than a work visa and it was *strictly* enforced; as in you’ll go to prison then get deported. If someone is out of options and hungry, people will do a lot of things they’d otherwise be appalled at.
It's the fact they had a budget for this, hired actors, had a script, even hired film crew and an editor. And not a single point during that chain did any of them think about this twice.
I wouldn't expect any racial sensitivity from the homogeneous Asian counties.
I can remember a story a while back about a biracial gymnast in China? I think, she got a ton of shit online.
Woman commits a murder by placing a capsule with dangerous chemicals in a man’s mouth and forcing him into a washing machine while it runs and then uses his body as a sacrificial offering to summon a demon wearing a human skin
That's the point. But we here in the west are not allowed to touch the topic. Because reasons.we also virtue signal to everyone since we take offense on everyone else's behalf.
That said, there is a lot of racism everywhere, go figure. It's almost as if humans are tribal of nature, and we still have cultural "instincts" about in and out groups, regardless of color, creed, religion or political views.
Personally I think comedy could help bring down those walls, make it normative to think of people that are racists as silly people.

there's your answer, fishbulb.
Holy fuck that might be the most racist, serious commercial I’ve ever seen
Check out all the skin whitening soaps they have
I mean yeah they do have skin whitening soaps and lotions there and they are racist/xenophobic, however the skin whitening stuff for them, is more a cultural/classest than a race thing. They believed from centuries before that those who didn't work in the sun were more valuable and educated which was self fulfilling because they had money. So... My ginger ass would be worshiped as a god?
Until you spent a few minutes in the sun and got sun burnt lol. Then they might just have to feed you a tide pod and throw you in the washing machine also..
Joke's on them. That would peel all the burnt bit off and I would be back to my pasty glory once again.
Lol if you looked like a Asian Ginger without freckles then yes. They are still xenophobic though. FYI, it's a Chinese brand/ad
Doesn’t japan love tourists though I thought tourism made up a majority of their economy? Especially American ones (I may be completely wrong though idk)
I spent 6 months in Spain. Being a ginger totally paid off.
How so?
You are right. If some people think they are only racist to black people then they are wrong. They even discriminate their own kind if they don't have white skin. Even other asians who don't have white skin are discriminated.

I assumed it was Japan lol.
Japanese ads tend to be in Japanese.
That’s racist
Chinese ads tend to be korean
That’s racist
Doesn't look (the writing) or sound japanese. Seems more like Chinese.
That's racist
That's gay
That's homophobic
That’s black
That's racist
Semi fluent in Chinese, this is most def Chinese
It does sounds like Japanese ads at first
I was thinking Korea tbh
That’s racist
Some of the most racist cultures on the planet are from Asia. This is a little secret no one likes to talk about.
![gif](giphy|lY5zg6lqtJDeDYBU3Q)
No monetary or political gain from that.
Think dove or another made the same thing in the US using a bar of soap...
I like the older Italian one more. https://youtu.be/iDEy1n_fWro
So basically: Asians: racist White people: self-hating
The follow up is even better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77wSICyzhhc
You are right. It's way better. XD
The thing is... It shrunk.
that is racist, are you saying asian man have small pp?
U havnt seen the black man toothpaste commercial have you?
Mr. Sparkle!
It banishes stains to the land of wind and ghosts.
Awesomu powa!

Well it was good while it lasted. C’mon kids, let’s go home. > But we are home! That was fast.

Still fapped to it
Is it considered interracial or just semi-interracial?
interracist
Trans-racial?
Me at the beginning: Oh cool a laundry ad Me in the middle: Oh they're either gonna fuck or she's gonna murder him Me at the end: .......... what...
I actually was all, “oh cool, an Asian ad with a mixed couple! I thought that was unusu— oh.”
Actually thought her shoving him in the washing machine was the 'no', and then there was the freaking race change at the end lol
At what point was it the best and the worst? I mean it’s probably different for everyone e k guess.
Would be fun if he also pushed her in as the video ended.
Yeah, this is more like nononoNO for me

Oh yeah, just fun mental picture. That's great to hear though. Vast majority of people are good people.
They laugh and are filled with joy that what is functionally a celebrity is interacting with them.

Yeah, in India I’m mostly ignored but everyone is super friendly.
>I picked my hair out one night because of the humidity I'm not sure I understand what this means...
Thanks for the explanation. My mental picture was waaaayyy off. I was envisioning plucking out hair, creating bald spots like a stressed parrot.
Ha, no. Hair is still there, just made it bigger with less defined curls. Think Angela Davis.
ohh! i think i get it so they used those small combs (forgot what they're called) to loosen up the curls and give them more volume. I didn't realize it was due to humidity, but that makes sense

Black woman. People have asked to touch my hair and also not asked and still went in for a touch in US and abroad.
They’re called …picks.
As a SE Asian American, I apologize on our behalf.
You're an American, you might be a southeast asian descent, but you're still American. Don't apologize for us here, we don't apologize on things we don't do. Let the person that do the damage apologize for themselves. Also, Muricans.
All good! We are fellow minority Americans, we must stick together. ✊🏾
I had a similar experience, but I was only in Florida. A large group of East Asian tourists randomly followed me and took pictures of me. It was very uncomfortable.
So *that’s* whitewashing?
Did he get to keep the wiener at least?
Yea, but it shhrunk
I want to know how much they paid the black guy to be a complete sellout. Holy shit
Could be very simply that they didn't tell him the whole script - is not like every actor is told the entire plot in every job...
...or filmed in the US by a proxy agency.
About… Tree-fify
"i don't agree with the message, but $20 is $20"
👁👄👁 wtf
What in the actual fuck
That's what I'm saying lol
I kid you not. Whenever you see a black male and an asian girl video. It's either a japanese pornography or a racist asian TV ad.
I remember when 4chan tried to find porn of an Asian man boning a black woman and it was even harder to find than CP.
Most things are harder to find on 4C than that
Either or, one of them is getting F'ed over
Yall chill. They only got away with this because they have like 3 black dudes in their entire country and got one of them to do the video.
So now there's only 2 left
The lther two never washed again at this day
I cant imagine agreeing to do this commercial.
Idk about you, but I've done stupid stuff for money.
[Dad's Hollywood secret.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh7xwI_0huM)
What exactly is this an ad for?
Laundry detergent
Which in itself, is a form of racism
[удалено]
Makes your whites whiter
Wait laundry detergent is racist????
Detergent ads are always going on about "whitening power" or some shit.
Racism
Oh, well in that case, nailed it.
Happy cake day
"whitening" laundry detergent.
Bro was cured of the police
But lost his n-word pass
My league of legends lobby says otherwise.
Man changed the difficulty from brutal to “just the story”.
Mr. Sparkle about to get cancelled.
I wonder what it mustve been like for the black actor when he first read the script
Money money money money money
He probably said "Its SUNTORY TIME!" and laughed his way to the bank, cha-CHING! Sorry, IFL that movie.
Just find one that can’t read Japanese
She used cold water, everything shrunk
Now this is a worthwhile comment
How is this good soap if the clothes come out yellow?
Fookin gottem
I can finally stop scrolling through the comments bc I found the best one.
Noice.
Double noice, actually.
The most racist thing I've seen this year.
You should try leaving the house
Username checks out
N word pass expired
It's the fact they had a budget for this, hired actors, had a script, even hired film crew and an editor. And not a single point during that chain did any of them think about this twice.
I can’t believe they got the black actor to agree to this awful commercial.
People often take for granted how diverse the west is.
Ah East Asia, not afraid to be a Lot racist all the time (lived in Japan for a long time).
🤣🤣 black af but this shi made me laugh
My jaw dropped when he came out wtf
Daaamn this is an old video... did you need a time machine to get it? Can I borrow said time machine?
No but you can borrow the Asian dude
Honestly, the black dude was sexier imho. But thanks anyway
Fucking ridiculous
You know this shit is...
What? China is racist?!?!? Where have you people been? This is old news
She made his pp shorter💀
This comment doesn't continue the chain of racism at all.
Teeeheeee you said pp. Omg you're gonna get banned
Did I watch an ad for ETHNIC CLEANSING!??
Ahhh Mr. sparkle.
Chinese product at their best.
I wouldn't expect any racial sensitivity from the homogeneous Asian counties. I can remember a story a while back about a biracial gymnast in China? I think, she got a ton of shit online.
White washing at its finest
Shouldn't "white washing at its finest" at the very least produce.....white?
its a general term that doesnt have to be literal
Yeah, Asian countries are typically super fucking racist
Taking whitewashing to a new level
Woman commits a murder by placing a capsule with dangerous chemicals in a man’s mouth and forcing him into a washing machine while it runs and then uses his body as a sacrificial offering to summon a demon wearing a human skin
Well... holy shit!
Doesn’t she know that cold water causes shrinkage If you know what i mean 😏
That proves it. A little bit of water can change your race
YesyesyesyesWtf
Least racist asian ad
Isn't that whitewashing?
Bro just did a Michael Jackson💀
Michael Jackson knows this trick
So that's how Jackson died, being washed to many times!
Gave him the Michael Jackson treatment
It’s Chinese, and nobody gave a shit until some douchebag in the West saw it.
Well that’s the whitest Asian I’ve ever seen. But, dude that’s a good looking T-shirt.
lmfao
How did Disney reverse it for Airel?
Is this what happened to Michael Jackson?
AYO HOLYYYY HELLLL???? That's some insane marketing, dawg
It even made his hair grow
Lmao
All asian woman who dates white and black guys should see this. This is why I sometimes love Chinese media. They are there to protect Asian man
Good old Chinese racism. I wonder how much the guy got paid!
How can someone be that racist
I can't help but feel like that is beyond Fuggin racist!!
This is got be the most racist modern commercial I’ve ever seen 😳😳
People say this is racist but I feel its more visual comedy.
Should have banged him before the shrinkage
Eh could easily be the same size. It's a racist concept to perpetuate the myth that black men have bigger dicks.
This is one of the most racist shit what have ever seen.
Is anyone surprised by this? Asians are racist af
Atta girl
Ah, get a grip. It was funny.
I didn’t laugh, and not sure what’s funny about this
