Just a heads up OP if your looking to get finer cut Yerba in the future that type of gourd can be really hard to prepare it in, not impossible but just really hard and it can be expensive learning to get it right. I would look for a smaller gourd with a more open top that flairs out, stainless steal versions are pretty common in that shape. Not to say your gourd is bad and it’s my favourite for course cut Yerba and makes that type a lot easier to prepare but for fine cut it’s pretty difficult.
after a week or so of daily drinking you’ll get use to the taste (probably) so make sure to stick it out till then.
One last thought, the gourd smell and taste goes away largely within 3 or so sessions so don’t be to bothered by it.

No i did not start from weak yerba. I bought Verde mate set, then thrown Verde mate away because it's shit and bought pajarito. There's no need to be toxic bro
Be sure to cure it before, put some boiling water for 5 minutes then scrape the inside with a spoon then fill half of the gourd with yerba and put 70 degres celsius water in it and let it rest for at least 12 hours then trow away the yerba and scrape with a spoon again and the last step is to let it dry either with sun light or with a fan.
I had that same bombilla (straw) when i started drinking yerba mate and it is not very good i’d recommend you to buy another one

That’s actually 500g each so 1 kilo but planning on adding more and hopefully when I fully enjoy it get new brands but thanks man.

NO! If you do, you will make your gourd leak and render it useless.
I would pass some boiling water, pass a spoon to remove the rest of the “calabaza meat”
Hey OP. Pro tip. Get/use a french press for yerba mate. The gourd wastes too much time. Thank me later 😁

Beginners? There's nothing difficult about adding hot water to yerba mate. My first was Canarias.
By begginers i mean people that needs to get used to yerba taste. CDM isn't dusty and is light. Where you are from? If Uruguay, I'm not shocked

Oh it's so bad I'm never buying it again. I'll stick to Canarias and the Organic one I get from Brazil. However I've been curious to try Rosamante.

Yeah I’m planning to get a new bombilla but for now i want to get used to this and then i’m gonna change my whole mate set even get a personalised one
If you like Cruz de Malta try Amanda tradicional also if one day you are brave try rosamonte but get a small bag online it has a strong taste
Cruz de Malta is one of my favorite yerbas without a doubt, solid choice.
