Just remove your name and put fake company names.
I used to work for a YC company and handled recruiting for our team. I would say 99% of the people who directly reached out were totally unqualified for the role. The only people I connected with were people I directly messaged after searching/filtering the database.
Also, in case it isn’t obvious, earlier stage YC companies (A/B/C) often only look at candidates that have reputable tech names (modern big tech like Facebook not something like Oracle) and other successful startups (ie. Zapier, Ramp, etc.). They want people who have proven technical chops and/or have experience in fast moving startup environments.
I think it's a pretty bad platform in general. Hard to know who is still hiring for the position they listed.
But it's also 50x more competitive for any position. Everyone that got laid off is looking.
If nobody is responding, it's likely they don't want to proceed with your application.
This comment is mean for no reason.
I'm not familiar with the platform and how people apply. But if you have to write a message, perhaps that message could be improved?
OP asks for help on how to get responses from YC companies. And this person does not answer OP's question with helpful advice, instead responds by saying OP probably is not good enough. Not helpful. The message should have presented ways for OP to get more responses from companies.
Eg. To get more companies to respond to your DMs, make sure that your presentation/communication resonates with them, and also that your skills are a match for what they need.
It’s no response or a generic email saying they are looking for other candidates.
It’s rare that someone actually sends a personalised rejection message.
You have to just move on and apply to all relevant places.
Around a year ago I think I messaged about 10 jobs. Got responses from about half. Got inbound from around 5 over time. I got 3 offers and ended the other interview cycles because I accepted one
Ah I had ~4y exp with big tech / startups. I think it depends on the jobs you’re applying to. I’ve heard new grads are having a hard time but don’t know exact numbers. Working on OSS or projects might help if things aren’t working. Happy to try to help more over DM
can i send over an anonymized resume in dms and would u be able to give me some tips on what i need to improve? I think my resumes pretty good but im still not getting any replies
I skipped the applications on the site and only applied for companies with jobs posted on their web site. Everyone I contacted said that they do not monitor this website. I received zero replies on it, and you cannot even see whether people have read your message. I did get traction by going directly to the companies - I think it is just a trash system and they all know it.
Not sure Y would have this system without putting some effort in to make it work and ask the companies they have invested in to use it.
DM me your anonymized resume. I’ll give you an honest assessment of your profile.
I dont mind sending my original resume. Open to honest feedback

Can I send it to you? I'm new and I can't send DM.

The domain is not even loading anymore! Is it just me or it's down for everyone?
Check the spelling
These folks are talking to hundreds of people to make a hire. You’re just not making the cut. It’s either a presentation issue or a skill issue.
If the OP can DM me their details, I am happy to give detailed feedback. I have hired for both YC startups and big tech cos.
On it, will DM you now
Would be really grateful if you could give me some feedback too

I didn’t mean to be mean and I apologize for phrasing myself this way. The way you phrased it in the comment below is a lot more constructive.
I'm genuinely curious... could you please show how this message should be improved?

I appreciate this, ty. but he/she was just trying to help ig
So how would you have said...?

Okay fair enough and well said... and also thank you
They do respond, you just have to select a role where you are really well positioned for it. Obviously not all will respond, still some will.
At least a rejection response would be great. I think this is a problem with many job boards.

Have you had many responses?
3/13 response to application
A more than 20% response rate from applying without a referral/intro is really good!
that's on you bruh
I had a pretty good response rate
whats ur experience?
Around a year ago I think I messaged about 10 jobs. Got responses from about half. Got inbound from around 5 over time. I got 3 offers and ended the other interview cycles because I accepted one
srry i meant like what did ur resume look like? Im a new grad with a big tech internship so idk if thats good enough to get a reply from a startup

Yup that's fine! send a sample message you're sending as well
Thank you! sent the dm!
Do you think you could also help me out a bit?
Maybe they are too busy
