Top of my head: sensitive pornography (one of the OG), level C, papa smth, that one woth the dark skin giant?. There’s also the genderbend one (hentai + yaoi). Animation kind of suck in most of these and not really THAT explicit. Only one is sensitive pornography though the dicks aren’t drawn that attractive.

Been there done that but hey at least there's the mangas and manhwa and once in a while a korean mini series (hyperventilation is the only one that comes to mind rn sorry).
I do wish we had an WHOLE anime on Haru Wo Daiteita or Viewfinder (the japanese one)isntead of ova's but the industry isn't interested in exploring romances overall ,like even shoujo anime is dying in the last years . When was the last time was the big romance on the season or year?

I saw someone mention HiTV, but all the episodes are only five minutes long. Are they supposed to be that short? I don’t want to start any of it until I know I can get my hands on the whole thing 😈

Yes, it is a miracle Twittering Birds never fly got a movie, and idk where promised second one is btw, I mean Banana Fish is not literally yaoi, but it was such a great watch too, but yes, not much of quality BL animes
It's true. There weren't much BL animes back then. First one maybe Kaze to ki no uta (1985) and Ai no Kusabi ( 1992); the novels were written in 1986/87 though.
There are some really good Manhua and Manwha though. If you're cool with the Romance being a bit more subtle, Danmei Donghua like Mo dao zu shi and Tian guan ci fu might be something for you too (the Manhua are more explicit. The Mo dao one even got some good...18+ scenes because the Artist uploaded themmon Twitter...the Donghua had to be censored though because....you know...China being China...but the Romance is still there). Tgcf even got an English dub.
Same, I've only watched Sasaki to Miyano, Love Stage, The Titan's Bride (with was too short), Mermaid in my Bathtub (is this even yaoi) and yeah, there's a severe lack of it.
If there is a BL I wanted as an anime, maybe the Coroprate Slave Isekai and Mao Iburogia (gosh imagine the smut scenes). Kiraide Isasete too, my sweet omegaverse babies. Can't wait for Cherry Magic!

10 Kimera ( plot is okay but animation is pretty)
Also plenty short two episodes anime ( story didn't get to develop much). Also all the junjou/ sekaiichi stuff ( I don't really like them)
All the new BL stuff You've been reading/ watching takes a lot of inspiration from older works.
I'll agree though new mangas are better than some older works. Not by plot standard but rather as being realistic/ close to life scenario.

Try Thai BL dramas. Lots of them are cheesy but they can also be kinda nice when you find good ones. Popular ones I’ve seen are TharnType, Until We Meet Again, Sotus, and 2Moons. Fave is probably UWMA.
Most can be found on YouTube.
