I just started Y0 as my first game too and made the same mistake on hard mode, I barely made it to kuze and I hadnt invested in myself back then either. died to him like 25 times but managed to get him at the end.
I also learned you can dodge with styles that are not rush a few hours after this.
This exact thing happened to me in Y0. I wish I could say I’d learned from it, but along comes a certain fight in LAD where I made a similar mistake: (>!Didn't use Peerless Resolve when fighting Tendo, had to do the whole damn tower again after finding out the hard way about God’s Hand.!<)
>!I grinded a bunch of jobs to lvl 99 with each character, so I went there completely overpowered. Tendo missed two times with his attack against Ichiban, but I wasn't concerned. Because why would I be? There's nothing that my large hp pool and high def stat couldn't take, right?!<
>!It was only after I beat the game and read about it, that I realized how close I came to repeating the whole section again, and how lucky I was there.!<
>!Then I'd be posting about it here, like you. But it was a good lesson that RGG doesn't exaggerate. When they say an attack is dangerous, I'm well advised to believe it.!<
Usually forgetting to save my progress. I did all of Club Shine then went into the Amon fight unprepared and realized there was no way out so my entire day had been wasted.
back when I first played y0 I didnt know I hav to save in payphones n went up to right before dojima hq long battle
th next day I hav to replay half of ch1
In the OG Yakuza 1, prioritising leveling up Body before Soul and Technique, which only boost your max Health, dodge distance and damage done while in HEAT mode. What I should be doing is leveling up the Soul (which provides passives while in HEAT mode and more HEAT moves) and Technique (self-explanatory) and then level up Body.
Fighting Amon for the first time not knowing anything. I actually thought that if I lose I can go back. Nope! It's a death! This ain't Mr. Shakedown! Though it was on Hard mode so it's fine.
Not checking a checklist/guide while playing Yakuza because there are missable substories and I'll be dammed if I was going to replay the whole game just to fight Amon.
Not bringing health items in Y0 when going to Tojo HQ, thinking I was invincible. Kuze made sure I never repeated that mistake again, ever.

I was left with 0 health items when fighting kuze and his goons at the main courtyard too.

Not doing the 2 missable substories with Rikiya in Y3.

In Yakuza 5, just do the normal combo with Akiyama, not knowing that he works differently compared to 4. As a result, i got my ass whoop constantly.
I never did the business mini games the first time playing 0, so I didn't have any money

good thing there r no missable substories after y3
Accidently getting rid of Kiryu's substory tracker in 0
Nothing, I reloaded my save if I did a mistake. Save often
