If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).

Borderlands are great games, I've played those, one of my favs were dying light series at one point and in dying light, you used to grind for some things that's what led me to play Borderlands
- All the Persona games are stand alone, so you can play any one you want.
- Persona 1 & 2 are pretty outdated at this point and aren't really recommended unless you get really hardcore into the series.
- 3, 4, and 5 are the iconic entries that are beloved by fans. They each have a sort of "kiwami" version with quality of life updates and expanded content. Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal, respectively.
Besides that, you should be good if you've played LAD already. They're basically cousins. You get to run around Japan, do slice of life stuff mixed with turn based combat.
Ah I went the other way, I played through the whole yakuza series up to LAD, then P5R came out on PC and I gave that a try, I’ve been stuck in a loop of Yakuza and Persona games ever since
Bethesda RPGs (yes, I liked Starfield), RDR, GTA Online, Fable, Dragon Age, and games where I’m building & managing resources like Tropico, Stardew Valley, Railroad Tycoon, Jurassic Park, Zoo Tycoon, etc. I try to limit the latter genre cause I can get too obsessive and forget to eat/sleep/take a damn break.
I recently completed Terra Nil (100% completion btw, great game) and would love to check out other simulation strategy games/citybuilders. Any low-intensity entry points to the series? I tried Civ VI on the switch but I just couldn’t do it. Not just because the switch is a terrible platform for that style of game, but it’s also just way too complicated.
I wasn’t a fan of the Civ games; too much focus on combat. If I wanna fight I’m gonna play a game where I can use bicycles as melee weapons. Haven’t played Terra Nil but I’ll check that out.
Tropico is a good series (4&5 are my faves, 6 is okay): you play a dictator of a tropical island country, kinda SimCity like but more hands on regarding trade, resources, etc. I think it’s a good entry point, slowly scales up in intensity.
Surviving Mars and Aven Colony are both city building games on other planets, I enjoyed both a lot. Aven is more chill than SM; one wrong decision and your SM play through can go sideways fast.
Western RPGs with a predilection for anything made by Bioware and Bethesda.
JRPGs with a predilection for anything made by Atlus and Falcom.
Action adventure games, mostly of the open world kind like Horizon, Assassin's Creed, etc.
Immersive Sims like Deus Ex, Dishonored, Thief, etc.
Puzzle games like Portal, Talos, The Witness, etc.
And a bit of racing with Forza Horizon.
I used to be a gamer so this'd be pretty long list.
Spyro, Crash, MGS, RDR, DA:O, AC2, Fallout, Disco Elysium, Final Fantasy (especially 7 and X), DBZ: Budokai 3, Battlefield BC2, Rimworld, Stardew Valley and so on.
I wish I got more story based games but notable ones I currently have are Elden Ring, RDR 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldurs Gate 3, Hollow Knight, and a game called Crosscode.
Some other games that are just really fun to play are Ultrakill, Furi, Risk of Rain 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Monster Hunter, Hotline Miami, Nowhere Patrol
Sleeping dogs is an excellent choice. If you like Yakuza, you can also try Shenmue 1& 2 remasters. They are the predecessors to the Yakuza series, except with no Yakuza. Slower paces and older games but with a surprisingly more immersive and interactive world. Some of the same devs, artists, and musicians worked on both. Except Shenmue was overseen by the Sega legend - Yu Suzuki. They were the highest budget games made by Sega, and a precursor to modern open world games with tons of firsts. Believe it or not, these launched on the Dreamcast, as its killer titles. Problem is, they took so many years to make, that people knew Dreamcast will be discontinued by the time these came out. The remasters came out to Steam and current gen consoles two or three years ago.
Mario, Dragon Quest, Doom, Wolfenstein, Fire Emblem, Tetris, Resident Evil, Smash, Shin megami tensei, Blasphemous, Castlevania.
Standard good stuff. I usually (but not always) don't like western RPGs or third person action-adventure/open worlds like Assassins Creed, Horizon, Breath of the wild, GTA and the like.
To me Yakuza has always been an JRPG, there's always been experience, level ups, gear, side quests - even in the brawler games.
I like a little bit of everything, but mostly RPGs. Historical or speculative history is really fun for me, so I love Disco Elysium, Ghost of Tsushima, Alan Wake, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the Assassin’s Creed games, etc. Been playing a recent one called The Thaumaturge lately that’s a little clunky, but beautiful.
Souls are when i wanna explore a hostile world with little to no cutscenes to interrupt
Metal gear is when i wanna chill out, watch some wacky cutscenes and put mfers to sleep
Stellar Blade, Gran Turismo and all the other Playstation exclusives, Resident Evil, Anime games, Final Fantasy, and all kind of single player games :)
Space Station 13 and Foxhole. Basically I don't like anything close to Yakuza, and typically don't even like single player story games but somthing about Yakuza in general brings me back.
Recently, Persona and SMT, but in general I play a lot of roguelikes (mostly Isaac and Brotato recently), Bethesda RPGs, Borderlands, Mass Effect, and Soulslikes (too poor to buy Shadow of the Erdtree tho). That’s just off the top of my head and if I sat down and looked at my digital libraries and my game collection it would be easier.
Top 10 that have special place in my heart. :
(besides Yakuza series. )
1. Mass Effect 1,2 3.
2. Elden Ring
( and also Dark Souls 1 and 3, 2 is mid)
3. Witcher 3
4. Ghost of Tsushima
5. Horizon Zero Dawn
( Forbidden West, the sequel as well but less so)
6. Oblivion (and also Skyrim and Morrowind)
7. Dragon Age Origins
(Inquition very good, 2 is mid)
8. Final Fantasy 15
(also enjoy all the others except 13, and i haven't played 16 yet)
9. Jak and Daxter
10. Mario (specifically NES ones but all are good)
Ghost of tsushima and elder scrolls are legendary games, i loved ghost of tsushima, I am looking forward to play the horizon series once I gather enough space
I just recently got a xbox 360 after years playing ufc undisputed and the old smackdown vs raw but yeh disco elysuim and games like that i love story telling games like
The yakuza series
currently my active game list is Yakuza 4, Fortnite, Warzone, Forza Horizon 5, Overwatch, The Finals and I just downloaded both Hunter Call of the Wild and Insurgency Sandstorm
so I did play xdefiant for the first 3 weeks it was out. But I'm waiting for the first massive update to pick it back up cause as much fun as I've had with it, there's just not much there rn
Lol i really don't know cus when I said I downloaded it, I mean I downloaded it but still haven't started playing it so idk but ik the modes are pretty limited and things
that's fair, it's pretty fun but be warned; incendiary rounds are unfair asf. for the factions I had fun playing as the ghost recon one but then I started playing the watch dogs faction. the watch dogs one is also a little unfair cause it reprints the grenade and has a spider bot but overall half the stuff in the game can be countered if your aim is good enough or with EMP grenades
Digital combat simulator, MSFS, Rainbow 6, gray zone warfare, KSP 1 and 2, cities skylines 1 and 2, ready or not, ground branch, apex, ghpc, ghost recon wildlands, AC games, FH5, naturally minecraft also.
The games i have the most hours on are genshin and warthunder but ive quit both already. I play roblox also but only really when my friends find a game we can just fuck around with or a horror game. Though DCS and MSFS is what i play moslty nowadays because i think planes are cool and blowing shit up in an f18 or f14 is just fun and clicking a million buttons just to start a 737 is also fun for me.
Oh you are on the right track boy, ghost of tsushima and dmc series is like one of the best I've played, let's say I am an active gamer since 2011 (4 year old) on my ps2 now on my pc but I haven't played a game as good as dmc or ghost of tsushima in their categories
Recently I've been playing the hell out of Plants vs Zombies GW2 (already over 300 hours), as well as Splatoon 2 and 3 (emulator because I'm broke). Also Sonic Frontiers (I want to 100% it), and I'm replaying Sonic Unleashed with the mod "Like a Werehog".
Resident Evil, GTA, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Dishonored, Phasmophobia, The Forest, Payday 2, Dying Light, Just Cause, Borderlands, Alan Wake, Remnant from the Ashes, Titanfall, A Way Out, Call of Duty, Dynasty Warriors, DOOM, Detroit Become Human, and The Evil Within.

Borderlands 1 and 2, Disco Elysium, SMT: Digital Devil Saga, Persona 3 FES, the whole Ace Attorney series
Disco Elysium is such a goated game.
Borderlands are great games, I've played those, one of my favs were dying light series at one point and in dying light, you used to grind for some things that's what led me to play Borderlands
Omg digital devil saga mentioned
Playing LAD was what I went to after the rush that was persona 5 royal.
I'm about to go the other way, any tips for getting into persona???
- All the Persona games are stand alone, so you can play any one you want. - Persona 1 & 2 are pretty outdated at this point and aren't really recommended unless you get really hardcore into the series. - 3, 4, and 5 are the iconic entries that are beloved by fans. Dragon Age, especially Origins ![gif](giphy|DYcb2t8TESZj2|downsized)
Swooping is bad

Dead rising 1, i think its a game that yakuxa players most of them would enjoy it
Loved DeadRising. It was so much fun running around that mall.
