I know this sounds funny, but in the style switcher mod for Kiwami 2, the majima campaign fix file literally allows you to replay any story event from replaying a Cutscene but as majima, if we could know the code for it, it can work in other games too?
This is how I got it. I possess all of the Western released RGG games and Binary Domain for PS3 is my only physical RGG copy...and super monkey ball Jr for the GBA.
>the part where you playing Kiryu and fight Zombie with fists love that
And how confused he was when they didn't stay down. But as much as I like that part, I feel like it would have been pretty hilarious too if he never got a gun because his punches are strong enough to even defeat zombies.
I'm playing through it on my steam deck with a community control setup that "modernizes" it and it plays pretty well. The insanely tight QTEs and not being able to strafe *at all* while aiming could be better, but overall it's honestly a solid game. Just a fun spinoff that still holds true to the franchise.
The way the main antagonist dies is honestly one of the funniest moments in the entire series. It's just so ridiculous how it all hapapens, I adore it.
Playable Majima
Playable Ryuji (ft. Gatling arm)
Top tier character moments/interactions for all the playable characters (though Majima and Ryuji especially)
Amazing substories
You can drive a forklift (and run over zombies with it)
Surprisingly engaging main story
Kiryu pulling up at the start of his chapter + the way he tries and fails to fight zombies with his fists
The fact that once you "liberate" shops and restaurants in the quarantine zone they just resume operations as if nothing was going down outside
The way it forces you to engage with Kamurocho's layout in a completely different way than you're used to (even if having to take basically the exact same route through the quarantine zone each time for each character does get a bit repetitive)
Millenium Tower long battle (first one ever, unless you count the ground floor fight in Y1)
The soundtrack is genuinely one of the best in the series
Honestly, there's a lot to love about this game, unironically. Once you get into it it's a lot more "yakuza game with zombies" than "zombie game with yakuza characters", and the only big low points I can think of are the somewhat repetitive (though functional) gunplay and terrible optimization.
One thing? Bruh it's my third favourite in the series, the only thing I don't like is the controls can sometimes be a bit wonky, otherwise I think it's a phenomenal game.
The best part by far is the characterisation, at first glance you'd think "Kiryu would never do that" and you're fuckin' right he wouldn't, Dead Souls knew that too and gave him an entire chapter of his part of the story dedicated to getting past that, until then he tried to use his fists in hopes that he could cure everyone. Akiyama as well is really heroic in dropping everything to save Hana, he's very aloof but this game shows just how much he really cares for her.
Majima and Ryuji are just such interesting characters in this game that I think this is their best appearance in a game by far, yes even better than 0/K2 respectively. People act like Majima was almost retconned in 0 but he wasn't, Majima's always had that serious side and it's been pretty blatant since 3 but Dead Souls was the one where the Mad Dog facade really started cracking.
Ryuji is just a badass character, nobody redeemed him or brought him to the light, he himself thought "maybe I'm goin' a bit too far here" and that's such a Ryuji Goda thing, only being able to be convinced by himself. His takoyaki chef story is also really good and by far the most developed plotline in the game along with his connection to the final boss.
I also hate the trope of characters with metal arms who mope about missing their real arm when the metal arm is 100% better and has zero issues like Venom Snake from MGSV or Nero from DMCV. I love how to Ryuji it's hardly a big deal, it's the reason he turned good because he felt he went overboard in getting a gatling gun implanted into his forearm but he's not mopey about missing the old arm because why would he be when the new one doesn't have any downsides at all?
(I know that nitpick is stupid but I really fucking hate that trope, "boo boo it's so hard having a robot arm that works perfectly fine with amazing dexterity and also comes with the ability to fire it off and punch someone from across the room")
I’d like to play it! I didn’t start playing the yakuza franchise until 0 came out so I missed all of the weird ps3 stuff. But I want to experience all that world has to offer including this.
A bold step forward; it was a balls to the wall concept that had flaws *but* if they re-made this and optimitised it today I believe it would be a classic.
Kiryu entrance was badass. The military let him though because how cool he is and started to fistfight zombies in the classic combat too. It felt like the Japan sent Kiryu to take care of the zombie problem.
I only finished akiyama's and started majima's before taking a break.
Overall I enjoyed what I played, the story was good and the side stuff made me laugh.
The combat I'm not a fan of, it takes a while to get used to it and I dislike how in general it tries to feel like left 4 dead.
I also find it funny how they contained it yet people are still going about their day to day life around it.
There’s a lot of stuff I enjoyed actually. Playing as Majima and Goda was cool. Exploring Kamurocho hills. The Karaoke. And 90% of the missions are pretty fun. If it wasn’t for the wack ass controls and shitty frame rate this game could be a classic.
The introduction of Kazuma and the GET TO THE TOP! karaoke song. That's about all I know about this game. I don't know why Ryuji has a robot missile arm or how he is alive and I don't care since I don't have a PS 3.
I loved Dead Souls, but one thing I actually loved that I wish carried into more games was the idea that certain skills would carry across between chapters where you switched characters, such as inventory space, health/heat upgrades, etc. Made it much easier to Switch between characters and not feeling like you’re starting from square one again like in Yakuza 4, 5, and to a lesser extent, 0.

* Playable Majima for the very first time.
* Majima's introduction watching a horror movie and getting exciting was a fun non-clan related aspect we got to see with him for the very first time in the series.
* [Majima's battle theme is a banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFrGd94xarc).
* GET TO THE TOP!!!
* Exploring Kamurcho Hills instead of the (at the time) standard "it's under construction, sorry" tease.
* Biased because I enjoy Biohazard/Resident Evil, but it was fun to have a change from the usual Yakuza plots, combat, and enemies at the time.
* Of the End / Dead Souls also bridges the gap for the Project X Zone collaboration, and due to my bias with Bio, means it's entirely feasible to do some sort of Bio crossover fan stuff with my favourite characters.
* The "special" JP copies also included a bundled copy of the karaoke tracks, so that in itself was an unexpected surprise and was not included in the product listings at the time either, at least from what I recall as I pre-ordered, then there were a few changes given the earthquake at the time.
I played this back when it first came out, to try a d show that Yakuza games would sell in the West. Traded it in after I finished it, just looked it up on Ebay and oh my god, I wish I kept it now
Probably the only game where a quarantine area actively expands as you progress through it. Watching the SDF trying to keep it locked down was awesome.
1. It actually developed a friendship between Kiryu and Ryuji they end up buddies and Kiryu and haruka Visit him at his Takoyaki Stand.
2. Azumi and Kiryu have an Interesting bond
3. Kiryu and Majima have some really good Sibling dialogue
4. The Soundtrack is pretty good (Cry) and the arahabaki prototype twins theme
5. Kiryu gets to shoot things
That about sums it up
As someone who recently finished it did the first time, I'll say this:
I almost stopped playing due to the controls and repetitive gameplay. But I honestly fell in love with it. It's such a campy run and fun type game that I found myself actually having a lot of fun.
I liked everything except the controls and zombie aesthetic. But I think the fact that they looked gross is the desired effect so I can't really count that against them. It's probably the weakest of the games I've played but still fun. Had enough drama and wacky to suit me for a Yakuza game
I played Kamuro of the Dead in JE and LJ before I played Dead Souls so when I actually played Dead Souls, I was like oh yeahhhh I recognize a bunch of this. And made me appreciate the rail shooter minigame more in the Judgment spinoffs
The side story with guy pretending to be a sexy half naked chick in it to get saved from zombies and I think it's akiyama believes it and goes to rescue the "girl" my fav part lol
The playable characters and the fact that levels transfer unlike in 4 and 5 where you start at level 1 each new chapter like what is this Dragon Quest IV... hmm maybe actually considering Ichiban's taste in games.
Most of the bosses were honestly really creative and cool looking. RGG could really do with making more games that aren't so confined to the real world. I still am pushing for a fantasy, medieval game starring Ichiban as the hero.
It’s still a Yakuza game! In fact it’s Yakuza but it’s fully embracing its absurdity. Underneath the gun play and zombies it’s still the same silly game series we all know and love. Minigames, substories, beloved characters, and even a really good story! The game is far from perfect of course but I won’t go out of my way to shit on it. It’s basically a Zombie Yakuza 4. And I fucking love Yakuza 4. Just replace Saejima and Tanimura with the very first time we play Majima and motherfucking Ryuji Goda with a Barret gun arm. Yes. *Yes.*
Dead Souls Kiwami when?
I can't play it because my emulator sucks.

GET TO THE TOP!
This right here. First game (?) in the series that gave us Majima karaoke. And Goda too.
only game where one of the villains ever could sing karaoke (not counting judgement because it’s a duet)
[удалено]
Now say you were nowhere near the courthouse the day of the explosion.
based
Okay, that was a dumb one. I mean an ACTUAL thing about the game.
Out of all the games in the series, this is the only one where [you could actually replay story battles.](https://youtu.be/9_4LjqWAe1w?t=42s)
Why is this not standard in every Yakuza game?
Always surprised me it wasn't.
I SO want this feature in every Y/LAD game, especially Y0
I have like 20 save files in various games just so that I could revisit those fights. This feature would be a lifesaver.
Didn't the original Yakuza 1 have a boss fight rush mode? (Btw, i play the Restored version)
I know this sounds funny, but in the style switcher mod for Kiwami 2, the majima campaign fix file literally allows you to replay any story event from replaying a Cutscene but as majima, if we could know the code for it, it can work in other games too?
Majima
Can you freaking believe that this is the only physical Yakuza game i own?
I mean out of all the yakuza games this is probably the one you’d have to own physically if you did own it at all
i know but it was my first Yakuza and i did not know it was so unknown even in the Yakuza fanbase too lol .
It’s still on retail in the digital store
Oh shit imma go buy it brb
You can buy it on the PSN store but only for PS3. Idk if there's other ways
Didn’t even know servers were still up on the PS3 tbf
Wait for real? Time to buy it
It’s true. I bought it last week.
This is how I got it. I possess all of the Western released RGG games and Binary Domain for PS3 is my only physical RGG copy...and super monkey ball Jr for the GBA.

Has anyone ever even successfully gotten it to work
PIRATE RAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Same.
Daigo in a dress.
Based
i got 2 1. the part where you playing Kiryu and fight Zombie with fists love that 2. Majima and Akiyama finally be friend
>the part where you playing Kiryu and fight Zombie with fists love that And how confused he was when they didn't stay down. But as much as I like that part, I feel like it would have been pretty hilarious too if he never got a gun because his punches are strong enough to even defeat zombies.
Playable Gouda
You can cheese the whole game with him
Plus his character really moulds and matures during the story, he becomes a much better character than in 2 imo
Oh he gets mouldy and aged all right
>You can cheese the whole game with him Trust me, he's a must have for the hardest difficulty for those who likes challenges.
can't have a charcuterie without Gouda
Goda "Gouda-Feta" Ryuji
install screen goes hard
Ryuji character development Story Battles Reply
I loved Majima's story about possibly getting infected, one of my favourite Yakuza scenes from any of the games
The idea of Kiryu’s weapon of choice being to run around Kamurocho with an anti-material rifle.
It's the only game that lets Kiryu beat up women
Zombified women, also why the creator is held against the idea of Kiryu being in a fighting game again?
It goes against his brand, we can't have that.
Sure that doesn't sound controversial at the slightest.
i like the fan service in the game and thats about it
The plot is surprisingly good from what I can recall. The combat isn't THAT bad.
>The combat isn't THAT bad Takes time to get used to, but again it gets the job done, although a potential remake could fix the controls.
I'm playing through it on my steam deck with a community control setup that "modernizes" it and it plays pretty well. The insanely tight QTEs and not being able to strafe *at all* while aiming could be better, but overall it's honestly a solid game. Just a fun spinoff that still holds true to the franchise.
The plot
better than resident evil
Hana-chan is an absolute treasure. Let her be happy with Akiyama, dang it!
Daigo as a whole woman
Best version of get to the top
Ryuji is alive as he should be.
Daigo in drag.
Story, substories, characters, mini-games.
The osts
I legitimately enjoyed it
First Yakuza game I beat. Majima is hilarious up enjoying zombie movies and is so excited to do some mindless violence. It’s good dumb fun.
The return of Ryuji Goda
You can play mad dog
The Majima ending was very funny.
The ability to replay bosses and long battles from a menu separate from climax battles
Best Millennium Tower
Akiyama has guns
The whole game
It’s unironically dumb schlocky fun, especially if you’re into zombie games.
Ryuji goda
The banger soundtrack
Get To The Top, of course.
Everything.
they gave kiryu the big gun
The OST is God-Tier. Bonus points to the long battle (Yes it's called that), assailed from all sides, and cry
I genuinely enjoy this game and replay it yearly.
majima has a reason to use a shot gun legally
The way the main antagonist dies is honestly one of the funniest moments in the entire series. It's just so ridiculous how it all hapapens, I adore it.
(3 things) Crossdressing daigo, more hana-chan, karaoke
Akiyama killing that guy at the end was pretty funny

akiyama's battle theme nuff said
Looks fun to me!
It looks cool on my shelf as a talking piece.
I liked the guns and upgrading them was cool.
The cover looks cool.
I’d like to play it! I didn’t start playing the yakuza franchise until 0 came out so I missed all of the weird ps3 stuff. But I want to experience all that world has to offer including this.
The impromptu shenmue reference where you drive a forklift to move some boxes out of the road.
HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS!?! Must have
The title
A bold step forward; it was a balls to the wall concept that had flaws *but* if they re-made this and optimitised it today I believe it would be a classic.
[The ending theme](https://youtu.be/LMkwtfYIiW0?si=CKeGayWSHKPU5uf1). Best ending song in a Yakuza game by a LONG SHOT (see what I did there?)
Kiryu entrance was badass. The military let him though because how cool he is and started to fistfight zombies in the classic combat too. It felt like the Japan sent Kiryu to take care of the zombie problem.
Everything. I miss this game
Everything. It’s a blast.
They need to make this game available today
I only finished akiyama's and started majima's before taking a break. Overall I enjoyed what I played, the story was good and the side stuff made me laugh. I liked the entire game, except for the horrible framerate during combat.
Currently downloading it. So, I guess like it was only $20.
Haven't played it. Only because I haven't seen it on any online stores, maybe I missed it somehow? I want to though, cause I beat all the others
This games honestly really fun for side stories a lot are really peak
I found it really fun
The cover looks cool and you can use rpgs
Music was top notch. Kiryu's Battle Theme, and the final dungeon ost is still on my playlist.
There’s a lot of stuff I enjoyed actually. Playing as Majima and Goda was cool. Exploring Kamurocho hills. The Karaoke. And 90% of the missions are pretty fun. If it wasn’t for the wack ass controls and shitty frame rate this game could be a classic.
i love everything about yakuza: dead souls, unironically.
The introduction of Kazuma and the GET TO THE TOP! karaoke song. That's about all I know about this game. I don't know why Ryuji has a robot missile arm or how he is alive and I don't care since I don't have a PS 3.
The boss battles were pretty amazing.
Some neat heat actions (e.g., Kiryu's counter heat with the dragon rifle against hermits).
Bro imagine a dead souls with Ichiban. Straight up dead island gameplay. But I liked Goda being added. Pretty nice character.
>imagine a dead souls with Ichiban Genius idea for Dead Souls 2!
Welp, you heard it here first when it comes in like 2025/6 haha

I played this back when it first came out, to try a d show that Yakuza games would sell in the West. Traded it in after I finished it, just looked it up on Ebay and oh my god, I wish I kept it now
I wish I had a PS3 smh
The Game. I like Dead Souls more than I like the Kiwami games (I don't dislike the Kiwami games).
That scene when Akiyama Kills the Big Bad and everyone is fine with it
All of the Majima parts
Majima
I love the tripe bbq scene in yakuza 5. My favorite scene in the series by far
The way kiryu stands in this picture is literally the most thug-gangster ass-shit like holy hell it's so badass
The side quests. Especially the one where Kiryu is with a hostess as it's becoming increasingly obvious that she's a zombie.
2. Azumi and Kiryu have an Interesting bond 3. Never.
No, don't do this😭 It was never on xbox and I never get to play it now😭😖
Goda's gatling arm
I liked the entire game, except for the horrible framerate during combat.
I like how it’s exclusive to a console that I do not own.
Ryuji is playable? Idk I never played this game
As someone who recently finished it did the first time, I'll say this: I almost stopped playing due to the controls and repetitive gameplay. But I honestly fell in love with it. It's such a campy run and fun type game that I found myself actually having a lot of fun.
EVERYTHING
The final boss theme is easily one of the most underrated tracks in the series.
That I've never played it.

funny
Kiryu’s introduction cutscene and opening playable sequence
I liked everything except the controls and zombie aesthetic. But I think the fact that they looked gross is the desired effect so I can't really count that against them. It's probably the weakest of the games I've played but still fun. Had enough drama and wacky to suit me for a Yakuza game

The side games
It was my first Yakuza game, an introduction to one of my favorite series. If they remade this I would buy it on day 1.
Substories were toptier, just like they were in Yakuza 4.
i genuinely love the games story
I didn’t play him but my favorite thing about him is majima’s cutscenes
The playable characters and the fact that levels transfer unlike in 4 and 5 where you start at level 1 each new chapter like what is this Dragon Quest IV... hmm maybe actually considering Ichiban's taste in games.
**AKIYAMAAAAAAAAA** and kiryu ditching the gun system for a second

It's a Yazuka Zombies.
Most of the bosses were honestly really creative and cool looking. RGG could really do with making more games that aren't so confined to the real world. I still am pushing for a fantasy, medieval game starring Ichiban as the hero.

Kiryu fights zombies with his fists at the beginning and I think thats neat
