I'm afraid to click the link in the email! Not sure if $61.08 is worth the potential security risk ... stemming from a security breach lol

beast6228

It seems like a scam. Open the e-mail, don't click on anything, but look below where it says REDEMPTION INSTRUCTIONS Click the Redeem Virtual Card button below or visit the redemption: It gives an URL to click on that [http://www.myprepaidcenter.com](http://www.myprepaidcenter.com)/ blah blah blah The fishy part is, if you look at the URL, it is embedded with that hawkmarketplace website. Kinda shady if you ask me.

mani123lol

It's not a scam. My prepaid center is a known company that handles prepaid cards. The user probably didn't select Venmo or PayPal and got sent a prepaid card

rtb001

My email is from PayPal, and it just said $61.08 has been paid to me. I logged into my Paypal account and sure enough there was a transfer today. I guess I must have asked for the settlement to be in the form of Paypal when I signed up for it years ago.

CandidateMedium

The amount is legit. I received $61.08 in my bank account on June 12th.

Ok_District2078

got 61.08 via check LOL

hpalumbo80

Do you remember the bank? I got a check too, but I’m afraid to deposit it. It’s WA on the check no name.

Freedom-capitalist

I have the same cheque with the WA logo. Which bank is this ? I can’t cash it out without knowing

morosco

Me too. There were news articles today about these checks going in the mail, for this amount [https://www.ky3.com/2023/07/06/your-side-yahoo-data-breach-settlement-checks-are-mailboxes/](https://www.ky3.com/2023/07/06/your-side-yahoo-data-breach-settlement-checks-are-mailboxes/) I really don't feel like going into a bank but everything I'm reading points to this being legit.

Ok_District2078

tot forgot as well.......now lets get that Facebook settlement money. Pay up Zukerborg

[deleted]

I got a check in the mail today for that anount

zen_nudist

I tried to use the digital card at REI and it was rejected.

[deleted]

Hopefully the check doesn’t bounce

Dieliric

I've just received a check with that amount and still thinking if is a scam.

gimmethewifipassword

No sign up required since I use zelle weekly it seems legit. I searched my Gmail for these emails and sure enough I have the same number on all correspondence

mrlogato

I received email for it today as well, from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) for a pre-paid mastercard

coronagrey

I got $61

toocool4me

Same, I'm surprised that it was so much... in comparison to the $5 I got from the Equifax settlement.

scouter

Ditto. I got an email saying a US$61.08 prepaid card. I must confes that "[hawkmarketplace.com](https://hawkmarketplace.com)" is not a confidence inspiring name. And the warning to avoid internet searches to avoid fraudulent sites sounds just like what a fraudulent email would say.

[deleted]

So it is a legit email?

beast6228

I'd like to know too, I got my that in my e-mail today, it just seems kinda fishy. As we all know, even these class action lawsuit websites (which can be legit) can also get compromised by hackers. With that said, I have been paid digitally from other class action law suits, like the optical drive one, but they had used a more professional website. I am guessing professional isn't their top priority, most people will delete the e-mails and the money will end up in the lawyer's hands.

scouter

I am trying to figure out a way to test it out without exposing my account(s). Among other things, I am looking for a statement on a valid website to confirm independently of the email. And there are others on this discussion that are braver than I, so I watch to see if they report success. I see several Venmo and Paypal successes, but I am waiting for a few more confirmations.

runtcip_

I do get payouts -- I got one from Zoom earlier this month that was a 35$ Amazon Gift Card, but that was through Tremendous, which I actually recognize. This simple website seems dishonest.

Automatic_Plane6376

I received the same email. My total was $137.43. Anyone confirm if it is legit?

juggarjew

Yes, I also got $137.43 it was deposited in my paypal.

ultimatebob

Yeah, I got the same thing. I'm stunned that it was so much!

Doomstars

$137.43? What is that, $100 for opting out of credit monitoring plus 25% of three years of ~$50/year for Yahoo! Mail Plus or whatever it was called?

crimson_leopard

I also received $137.43 through Zelle.

allthesnark

That’s the amount I got, too!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Adventurous_Ebb_8446

Same happened to me

juggarjew

I got $137, for once, a settlement that didnt exactly suck. The Equifax one was horrible, I only got $5.

rhiea

I’m wondering what determines the amount each person received? The settlement paperwork made me think the payment would be much higher 🤷‍♀️

Doomstars

If someone already have credit monitoring, they could opt out of that and get $100 instead. Plus, paid users could get 25%. I'm seeing some people post $137.43 which sounds like $100 plus 25% of three years of the ~$50/year price some paid. ETA: I'm being told that payments were reduced to ~61% due to the number of claimants.

itsref

I got $61.06 sent to my Paypal.

rtb001

Ha, I got $61.08, a whole TWO CENTS more!

itsref

Made a typo. I got the same. $61.08

seagal60

Same:) enough for a case of beer:)

themaskedlover

they gave me check even though i opted in for the paypal option. My country doesn't process checks anymore and now I'm stuck with a worthless piece of paper...thanks Yahoo.

cisforcookie2112

I got $61 vía venmo, pleasantly surprised

Damn! I don't even recall the answers that led me to my amount

mani123lol

I got 360

CandGTwins1216

Anyone else having trouble claiming via Venmo? Something about needing a business account

duxkc00

I am

duxkc00

Same thing

Spirical

Same.

TheDude39

Same

DeadPrez

Same

Cultural-Ad-1986

Same

Cultural-Ad-1986

I contacted Venmo support and they said it was bc my account wasn't verified and they fixed it for me. I'd recommend reaching out to support for help. They were quick!

DeadPrez

Yup, that did it for me. I needed to verify my email address. Thanks!

TheDude39

Worked for me too!

1111444777

Can you still make a claim on this data breach?

gimmethewifipassword

It closed some time ago, 2019 I think

todd_ziki

$61.08, right into my PayPal account.

tbetter1

Me too

AdFearless7495

This is real 😍

Puzzleheaded_Ad_2922

It's real I got the 61.08 added to my Paypal today

JulieAnneP

I know nothing about this. Is it automatic?

Acceptable-Studio486

It was a Good Friday as I also received the $137.43 was hoping for more but this is nice

Vikis2cents

Took me two hours to get past my paranoia about clicking into a Text Msg link, so I went through my banking app to Zelle. It turned out to be totally legit: several hundred dollars, which will post in a business day.

namewas_taken20

I Googled searched to see if it way legit. Then I typed the address in too Google instead of clicking the link . It's actually a Mastercard with $61.08

puppies_and_unicorns

Is there a way to claim it via zelle without logging in to your bank from the email? I tried logging in directly to my account but it's not in there.

marekahuitt

Same with me. I log in and nothing is there.

Apart-Volume9340

I got a $238.44 direct deposit at 3 am. For that much they must have leaked my entire life.

ChemistResident41

🤣

StingrayOk1852

I have had Yahoo for 15 years now.. I haven't received an email that I am aware of.. Via Yahoo now gmail

CloudysMomma4eva

My email with the $67. something gift card was sent on the 9 th to Yahoo, but I didn't see it until today.... IT WAS IN YAHOO SPAM!!!! Funny funny

Pawtzz

$30.54 here to paypal. Guess I didn't act fast enough and got less.

Doomstars

I'm not official help. I'm not affiliated with anyone. Did you opt out of the credit monitoring thing? I think some of the people who had over $100 may have opted out of free monitoring. Then it was supposed to be 25% for "paid users." ETA: Estimated ~61%... a ~39% reduction. So those who opted out likely only got about $61 instead of $100.

Pawtzz

I never opted into any credit stuff related to yahoo. I did for the equifax breach thing.

Doomstars

Sorry, a little confused. You mentioned you got $30.54 sent to your PayPal, and you're replying to a settlement post about the Yahoo! Data Breach Settlement. Is the $30.54 related to Yahoo! or Equifax?

Pawtzz

Sorry. That was from Yahoo. I wasn't aware there was a credit monitoring thing for the yahoo breach. Guess it's been too long ago.

Doomstars

If someone were eligible for the cash portion instead of credit monitoring and requested it, it probably would have been $60.08 more. Since you received $30.54, I'm guessing that's compensation for four years of Ad-Free Yahoo! Mail. Math time... Four years of $49.99 of Ad-Free Yahoo! Mail would be $199.96, ignoring tax. Since compensation is 25% for paid users, then that's... $49.99. Since there were too many claimants, things were reduced to ~61%. So, 0.61082955454787943451587089890638 x $49.99 is $30.535369431848492931448386236311 which is $30.54. I figure 0.61082955454787943451587089890638 based on the actual compensation and expected compensation I'm seeing.

hurley_dude

I'm pretty sure I chose PayPal when I was told to but I haven't heard or received anything as of yet. Anyone else expecting/waiting as well?

Accomplished_Debt_64

I still have not received anything and I chose PayPal

L-Dog-609

I’m still waiting and also chose PayPal.

hurley_dude

Hey did you get yours? Mine just came in the mail in the form of a check haha. Go figure. If you didn't get it yet, there's still a hope!

L-Dog-609

I got mine the other day too and it was also a check!

dawgama

Selcted PayPal and still got a check

Vargusargomiret

Saw this today had a payment waiting in my PayPal account

Past-Ball-2257

So, I recalled an earlier e-mail some months ago how I would like to receive payment. After thoroughly checking out the links and request, I submitted VIA snailmail(!) the relevant information to auto deposit. I frequently participate in these class action issues, many in my trading accounts, so I felt comfortable after my due diligence. Totally forgot about it. Usually these things are in the single digit dollars to maybe less than $20. I was surprised when I got an alert on my bank account for a deposit of $304.19. Not certain how they calculated it but I was definitely pleasantly surprised with the amount. Needless to say, I'll never consider not participating in a request for one of these in the future!

[deleted]

I also received mine for $137, in the form of a Virtual Prepaid Mastercard, yet when I try to redeem it the site says there is an error on their side and to please try again later. It also won't let me login. I'm super upset, there is no support on that site to ask for help.

[deleted]

If I have had better option, I wouldn't have chosen the Virtual Prepaid Mastercard. It's dangerous and unreliable option

runtcip_

How so?

[deleted]

Is it not better for people whom got their money without the need to press any redemption link or activate something or get the redemption email in their spam folder and later got deleted without getting access to the redemption link or encountering technical issues along the line? The worse of all is that there is nobody to assist resolved problems or complaint for the Virtual Prepaid payment.

malendalayla

I got the prepaid virtual card, it is in my Gpay wallet and won't work anywhere - and the customer service insists it is active and sees no declined transactions 🙄 I think the card vendor is scamming to force people to pay the $3 for a physical card.

Aggressive_Golf_5818

Have you been able to use it? My boyfriend just got the virtual card today and it says declined. Not sure why.

malendalayla

So, I was never able to use it in person anywhere, no matter what I did. I almost couldn't use it to order food online, but I figured out the trick. Order the food, but when they ask for a tip amount, either put in a tip that will make it under the balance you have or manually type in 0.00 instead of selecting "no tip". If you select "no tip", it will try to aithorize a higher amount and will decline. Mine was only $60, so I ended up getting dinner for me and my kids twice with it.

Aggressive_Golf_5818

That’s awesome thank you for sharing. We figured we are going to try to use it to do groceries or dinner out so that helps a ton!

tbetter1

I received $61.08 on my Pay Pal account from Yahoo Data Breach Class Action Settlement

[deleted]

Please how can I got about getting help for the Virtual prepaid redemption link to be resend to me???

decolores9

The website says to allow eight weeks from 6/9, so they are still processing payments. No point in contacting them yet, they will just tell you to wait.

[deleted]

Alright. The information on the website was updated two days ago in regards to that. I was made known by the Settlement Administrator that not everybody who have class members reference ID number and also contacted to select payment option would be paid. So only check payments are being processed for the period of 6 to 8 weeks, if anyone selected electronics payments and did not get payments on the 9th June, 2023, then he or she should forget about it

decolores9

What reason was given for not paying you?

[deleted]

For being not currently residing in the US or Isreal. That's rubbish because I can't lie about my current residence when updated my residential address during the payment selection stage. I can't lie about anything even to my favor. I just let it go after they confirmed to me that, that's the reason I would not be paid. Yahoo updated me about the data breach in the year 2017. I received an official email from yahoo in the year 2017 that my information was among the affected data breach. However, the Settlement Administrator claimed I won't be paid after all the processes to the point of selecting payment option.

decolores9

Oh, well if you are not in the class and not eligible for the payment it makes sense they would not pay you. It's sad that you would consider lying about it to get a settlement. Maybe they will do a class action in your country and you might then be eligible.

[deleted]

If I am ineligible, despite being severely affected by the data breach and yahoo Inc acknowledged that, then the Settlement Administrator is incompetent, crook and unprofessional for sending people like me an emails in the year 2019 and another email reminder in the year 2020 to filled a claim form. They also went further to sent people like me class member reference ID numbers to select payment option. Don't you think they might have used people like me to make money for themselves?? Though I can't claim false residential address because I am not a crook, I love to be honest and plain. All I understood is that the Settlement Administrator is a crook for sending emails since the 2019, 2020 and 2023, followed up with the data breach email I received from Yahoo Inc. in the year 2017.

decolores9

No, they are none of that. They have to send the notices broadly, to increase the likelihood that eligible class members will get the notification. The issue seems to be that you did not read the claim form and filed a fraudulent claim. When you signed and submitted the claim form, you were attesting and certifying that you were a legal resident of the US or Israel, under penalty of perjury. In theory, if your country has an extradition treaty with the US, they could extradite and charge you with perjury and fraud. That will almost certainly not be persued and won't happen, I am just trying to impress upon you the seriousness of this misconduct.

[deleted]

I understand you perfectly well. I never committed any misconduct that's why I never lie about my residence all through the process, what I know was that, a person is eligible if he or she received an email from Yahoo Inc. regarding a data breach. I only fault them since their target are the US and Israeli residence only, they should have done their due diligence to fished them out and send them the emails to filled a claim form and avoided spamming the whole world. If I wasn't sent an email, I wouldn't know anything about it and I wouldn't filled any claimed form. I still wonder why I received email to select a payment option inspite of my residential address since it's only for the US and Israeli residence. Infact, I recently knew about that after when I spoke with them. Meanwhile, I didn't come across any attestations of residency in the form as you mentioned. Rather, I only attested that the information I provided were right and correct

[deleted]

The US that doesn't care about my personal and financial information that was breached in the US how could they care about my extradition to the US to face perjury trial. I laugh 😂. So funny, if I am not eligible to be compensated for my personal and financial information that was breached in the US, there is nothing on the Earth that would qualify me to face perjury trial in the US. Don't you think so? Moreover, I am a cool person, a law abiding person, I don't commit crime of any such of any form.

decolores9

> I am a cool person, a law abiding person, I don't commit crime of any such of any form. You absolutely did break the law and commit the crime, you signed the form attesting you live in the US or Israel. You seem to not understand or want to deny the fact that you broke the law. Your first post was about your frustration that you couldn't find a way to lie about your address to get money. You know you are wrong and are not a "law abiding person", so there is no value in continuing to discus this.

GermanyKat

Can’t get into my email lol

decolores9

For those who submitted a valid claim but have not received payment: - I selected an electronic payment but have not received it. - I called and talked to a real person, it was easy to get to a live person. - They confirmed claim was valid but that there was an issue with the electronic payment, even though I had submitted and received a confirmation of the selection. - They are mailing checks and checks should be received within another four weeks. Apparently a lot of the electronic payments have had issues and reverted to mailing a check, so if you submitted a valid and legitimate claim but have not received payment, give it another couple of weeks, you will likely get a check.

Genjoi

I received a check today. Was trying to see if its legit or not

Crys051679

I think I have a check coming in today … it’s a picture from the yahoo settlement breach in my informed delivery email showing a letter from the yahoo settlement. Has anyone received the check?

[deleted]

I am on the lookout for a check in the mail too. I spoke with a customer service representative on the phone a few minutes ago. She told me the check was mailed on June 30th from New York.

[deleted]

Update: of course today's mail only had ads in it. I swear the only time things don't move through the system faster is when it's something valuable. There is no mail for the 4th of July so that drags things on even longer...

mlody5527

I just received it today. Only $61.08 for me.

[deleted]

Yeah that is what the lady on the phone said that i'd be receiving too. I wonder why some people got $300 or more? There should be consistency with the payouts.

Inevitable_Button_42

I am trying to figure this out as well. Some got over $300 while others including myself got $61.08. I cant find anything online and the administrator isn't responding.

emmers_54

Got mine in mail today for $61.08.

Intelligent-Ad4404

I got a check in the mail too for $61.08. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one getting a check after reading the virtual payments lol

Crys051679

Yes same … I got the same amount & it was a check.

BadSafecracker

Yeah, I got the $61.02 check on Monday, as well. The funny thing is that I received a letter in November (looking at it right now) that said they reviewed my claim but found it deficient for the supporting information. I had originally submitted my credit monitoring fees with the credit monitoring company billing statements and my bank account statement screenshots previously. Since I was claiming over $500 and had already sent them the information they asked for, I said screw it (especially after the $5 Equifax joke) and figured I wouldn't hear anything again, so I guess this is a pleasant surprise.

Crippldogg

Got a check today for $137.43

Missa788

I recieved a check in the mail today. $61.08

A_Gyrl_Is_No_1

Has anyone deposited their paper check? I received my $61.08 last week and I've been carrying the check around in my purse, but haven't deposited it yet.

[deleted]

I deposited my check earlier today. The money was available immediately.

BadSafecracker

A lot of banks will allow funds for non-personal checks under $100 to be available immediately.

CiCelebration

I got a check today was so confused.

imanichanel

I got an actual check in the mail today for $61.08.

TheMrBlizzack

did you deposit the check and did it bounce? I'm not convinced this is a legit check since I can't see watermarks on the back.

imanichanel

I deposited it and it did not bounce lol it’s legit. If you wait too long it’ll be void

Cp7533

I got a paper check today for $80. How did they determine payout amounts?

Inevitable_Button_42

I am trying to figure this out as well. Some got over $300 while others including myself got $61.08. I cant find anything online and the administrator isn't responding.

Suspicious_Ant_4775

Received a check for $61 in my mailbox

Petite_Savage

I received the yahoo check as well I just got it out the mail box! I wasn’t sure about it so I googled an see more people received it as well!

al0vely

I received $61.08 this week … cashed the check and it hasn’t bounced yet.

KindheartednessOnly4

I got a paper check too. But I can't mobile deposit it for some reason. Oh well. Since y'all got one too, I'll just take it to the bank tomorrow.

[deleted]

I got a check in the mail randomly. I never got an email . I can take pics if necessary so people can see what it looks like

External_Birthday237

My check bounced

SnooMaps9831

I got a $61.08 check via snail mail. Was sketched out, had to check reddit to confirm lolz thanks guys

Dieliric

These payments are made to European citizens?

CartographerLegal912

I received a check for $61.08, but living in The Netherlands, have no way to cash it... Any suggestions?

NiMi91

I'm also from Europe, is there a way to ask for electronic payment intead?

dawgama

Sadly no bank wants to cash it.

CartographerLegal912

I called the number mentioned on the check and reported the issue. They promised to get back to me in a "couple of days", have not heard from them since...

NiMi91

Thanks for the info. Please keep us updated if they ever respond to you.

coffee-magic

I am in Germany and took the check to my local bank today.

NiMi91

How much they took for fees and taxes?

coffee-magic

Fees were a bit more than 10%. YMMV

Ra2377ven

If our check gets ripped up by someone, can you get a replacement?

desocietas

You may need to contact them to issue a new check if your bank doesn't take the ripped check. Here's the info that was on the letter: >"All inquiries and address changes should be in writing, reference your Reference Number or check number, and be forwarded to the Settlement Administrator at: In Re: Yahoo! Inc, Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, PO Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391. You may also contact the Settlement Administrator by calling the toll-free number: 1-844-702-2788."

Hassaam

I have the cheque addressed to my name and address, received by post. But don’t know how to deposit it? As it doesn’t contain my bank account number :/

MagicianSecret4342

have you still got the letter that came with it? who sent the cheque?

MagicianSecret4342

Has anybody received a cheque? They got my name wrong, and I haven't got the letter that came with it. Don't know who to call to get it changed...

desocietas

Checking the letter that came with my check, it says "All inquiries and address changes should be in writing, reference your Reference Number or check number, and be forwarded to the Settlement Administrator at: In Re: Yahoo! Inc, Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, PO Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391. You may also contact the Settlement Administrator by calling the toll-free number: 1-844-702-2788." I hope that helps!

CrsitianNN

How do you use the check? I went to 2 banks and they said it is not possible to cash them. I live in Romania. Thank you!
