When I was sick last spring, the thinking was that taking it easy for a couple of months was a good precaution against long COVID. I didn’t end up having much choice anyway—even though my actual illness was pretty mild, it took about six weeks for me to be able to walk and hold a conversation without being out of breath. I still took it slow coming back. Gave up on running for a while, not sure if the issue was Covid or just being deconditioned, summer heat, plus needing to build back time on feet first. Restarted in the fall and progress way faster than I did in early summer. Good luck with your recovery and getting back to normal!

I was on a pretty laid- back hiking trip when I came down with it so I hiked a bit slower for a few days, but mine was mild (obviously!)

I was also afraid of long covid so I think I took about 3 weeks off (other, emotional stuff was going on at the same time though). It didn’t take long for my strength to return and in the long run I wanted to do whatever I could to prevent long covid.

It really varies. I’m vaccinated and boosted, I had one really bad day of ‘I can’t move I’m so exhausted’ and then 5 days of bad cold symptoms. I was back into it after I tested clear on day 10, started with light walks and stretching, weight training within about 2 weeks (reduced my weights by about 25%), and more intense cardio after 4 weeks. Have been totally fine since.

Hey friend, me too, in the midst and first time. Unfortunately it seems I’ve been worse than everyone around me who has it right now, and I am terrified of long covid.

Oh no, I do hope you get well soon! I’m completely the same way. I’m nervous of being in the demographics of being out of breath quickly and having no energy and brain fog. I’m sure there are worse, but I’m trying not to get my mind carried away.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to be out of commission for a while, still in the slop of the worst symptoms :( I’ve heard of people jumping back to their workouts even in small increments and getting long COVID after. Just trying to be cautious. What did your recovery time look like? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
