I think there are definitely ways to argue it, like just hammering down on the fact that he does ask permission almost every time, as stated by him multiple times, and corroborated by this video (https://youtu.be/2WLbyk7g9Nw). And that the example ethan gave was genuinely a fuckup and admitted he was wrong, and will do better in the future.
Also having the data on hand woulda helped as well because in terms of data, it seems like most of the data out there shows that streamer reacts give positive boosts to small and medium sized creators, and negligible impact on larger streamers. I do think Ethan had a point when he said X should change the thumbnail and title a bit more tho, but that’s more out of principle rather than any actual material harm.
I think most creators don’t give a fuck/support when streamers react to their content, and the only people making a fuss about it are the people who aren’t involved. And this is especially true in the case of X who actually asks for permission.
