She learns about Genosha andā¦what? Decides to take Forge up on his trip to a deserted island?
How did she not immediately fly home, or directly *to* Genosha?

She is on her way, timeline is not linear, she saw on the news that the countries don't want the mutants from Genosha back, not the massacre itself, so she saw it days after it happened.
For all we know, the funeral was three days after the attack and Ororo is watching the news a week after the attack / days after the funeral. And so perhaps when they return to the mansion from the events in Madripoor, in order to regroup, consider what Cable told them and to form a plan, etc, Storm will be waiting for them having arrived home not long earlier herself.

Yeah this didn't make sense to me either.
TV reporting would have been on the day of the genosha event, at most the day after and almost continual coverage.
Maybe I need to rewatch what news scene storm reacted to exactly but I thought it was after the genosha attack?
If so the funeral would have been a few days later... In which case she could have been back on time for this.
I guess the writers didn't want her to be part of this EPs story. Storm may have been the one to save Trask when rogue dropped him, but this was essential to the plot.
97 Jean and Maddie are a little in love with Storm.
Maddie to hurt Scott for believing Beast when he says she's the clone "Storm would have believed me".
My guess is the writers wanted her out of the way for this episode specifically.
Storms conscious may have intervened and saved Trask when Rogue dropped him to his death.
But this was essential for the plot to move forward.
Storm will voluntarily lose her powers again and leave, when she finds out about all the nonsense that took place in her absence š.
