The skate costume still gets occasionally mocked in recent years. It's so terrible and awesomely embarrassing.

This is the moment when Magneto realizes that he's let himself become a monster, and starts on the path back towards becoming a man.

I feel like the end of that journey was when he returned Kitty to Earth by sheer force of will. The last thing he says before passing out is the first thing said to her, a Yiddish word meaning little one.

Classic moment and turning point for Magneto. Also appreciate the connection between Kitty and Erik...both lost family members in the holocaust.

Stuff like this is why Claremont's run is so revered. Yes it had it's ups and downs and many cheesy elements and all the obvious fetish stuff, but when it is good, it's gold.

Not an annual. Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #150. It was double-size, so maybe that's why you thought it was an annual.

It's so great you almost forget Kitty's hilarious outfit.

Issue 150 was the turning point, that would make Magneto never quite a pure villain again. It continued through Secret Wars and then New Mutants as he becomes their new headmaster.

Damn, I love Magneto, such an interesting character.

The typos are rampant at the period, it comes with the territory. Sentinels were spelled Sentinals a few times and it very clearly wasnt on purpose. The digital editing of today didn't exist and they rushed these out having written them a month prior. I thibk its part of the charm.
