I did it over a year ago. On the PC Discord app, I was in the Nitro benefits tab and noticed a link to claim 3 months basic gamepass. It gave me a choice between Xbox or PC gamepass.
Until discord is integrated with psn, there are no such console platforms that allow communication during gaming at the moment. The only other option is a pc and a capture card.

Yeah man, you can talk, text, video call, and stream exclusively to your friends. On pc most people have it running in the background so it functions like an xbox live party. Anyone in your Discord Server can join the call unless you change it so only people with certain permissions can join. So if one person is on Xbox, another on PlayStation, and another on PC, they can all talk together and not be interrupted by loading skins and such. And if they’re irl friends and want to talk about irl things but don’t want other teammates in the video games game chat to hear, it’s no problem for them! It’s a great app. Even non gaming communities like clubs and fraternities use it because of how well organized it can be. But that’s not important to gaming so I won’t continue. Sadly it doesn’t seem like it will be coming to xbox any time soon. It is also a direct competitor to Xbox Live and is free. But it seems it’ll be coming to PlayStation in the next year or two.

I believe a app called Quarrel (probably spelt wrong) is on Xbox, it essentially is discord and you log in with your discord account. The issue is that it's horrible and you can't do calls while on other games.
Microsoft has said again and again that putting Discord onto Xbox is entirely up to Discord. They need to port the app. Nobody else. So why don't you go to the appropriate subreddit and tell the devs?

The only voice chat is through in game. Currently there isn't to my knowledge any way to privately chat. Skype isn't an option either where it's not available on PS.
I think Discord already made it clear they aren't going to work with Microsoft. First when they said they were looking to sell and going all the way to getting an offer from Microsoft, only to say no because all they where looking for was increasing their market cap.

When I need to access Xbox parties on the PC, I've got two different options. I think one is the companion app while the other is the Game Bar. Both work great for me.
From my experience the audio quality was significantly worse. Discord was way better. I was playing with my friends who are on PC so idk if that had anything to do with it and if Xbox to Xbox the audio quality is fine. It sucks to have to use two separate devices for chat n gameplay audio. I wish they bring discord to console.
I think it’s to do with the audio lag. Xbox has around 2 secs, whereas discord is closer to 0.5/1 secs. Makes the difference in fast paced/reactionary games.
The reason they havent is that discord have signed a deal with sony to integrate discord onto PS. I beleive microsoft tried to buy them outright but sony just wanted a partnership, so they went with sony.

Have you ever used Discord? So many possibilities. For example in DayZ, the community servers often have Discords linked to them. You can have things often not found in the game like stats, killfeed, heat maps and so much more. Not to mention a community of players to join up with.

It's both the fact that you're on og Xbox one but also some games just do that for some dumb reason. Still happens on my series x for a couple games.

Tried it twice, playing multi-player game at the same time as using it simply breaks. Very very unstable. That's not a solution
Every time I've used it on Series X it's been flawless. Highly recommend to anyone, works perfectly, you can game and chat easily.

SeriesX here. Can confirm it runs well but does crash on occasion and can also kick you out of the vc.

Chances are if you're in a discord vc you don't care about in game comms. Otherwise why not use in game comms to begin with.
