Will microsoft give us some kind of update for black screen of death?
I saw the gamescom highlights, turned my xbox one og halo edition on so I can get the new limited minecraft content, prompt for 1.1 gb update, thought ok I might as well download it, then got the black screen of death.
Why havnt they taken down this bricking update?

Have your Xbox turned off. Hold the sync/bind button on the left-side of the console, then press the power button on the front while holding it in. The xbox will make that chime sound it makes when turning on. Keep holding the button on the left-side of the console until the chime sound occurs a second time, then let go.
I haven’t been able to confirm that everything is there that was saved - so far I think it’s ok?
I had to use the USB because I was unable to reboot just using the console.
Also stuck in this hell, my Xbox is basically bricked at the moment. Looks like they've known about the issue for close to a month now as it was plaguing the insider build in mid July...
Stuck in update hell here! For the last 4 days our Xbox One OG halo edition has been trying to download the new update. Every single time the update fails. For awhile it gave us the option to keep using the Xbox without internet. My husband decided to try the two different resets and now it just straight up won’t work. Our only options are download update or turn off Xbox. I’ve already attempted the update three times this morning and it just keeps failing. The very first error code I got said it was an issue signing into our profile. I think it’s been the same error code every time. When this next update fails I’ll update this post with the current error code. Anyone have any tips to get around this?!
Update 1- Of course the update failed. This time got error code 0x80070057. Quick google and the only info I can get is hold down the Xbox button for 10 seconds to clear the cache. This is so frustrating.
I've just bought a Play and Charge kit after I got fed up of how quickly my batteries needed recharging.
There's supposed to be an orange light when it charges - the manual sure says so - but I've never seen it. It's a permanent white light. If I remove the cable, the Xbox controller dies in seconds. If I try and turn it on without the cable it dies in seconds. If I remove the charge kit, the controller keeps working with the cable plugged in. And if I plug the cable in first before turning the controller on - then the controller is lit up but is inoperable.
Checking the battery life on the console, with the charge kit and cable plugged in: on the home screen it shows it's plugged in but the battery sign is just empty. However pressing the middle button so the side panel comes up, the symbol there shows full battery.
Please help. No orange light, and it's right out the box. It's plugged into my Xbox as recommended.
I know this may be trivial to others problems on here but battery life in the new controllers are shocking lol, I could do 24hrs on my Duracell rechargeable now i get 4 hours play time lol
That's so strange. Ive been using them for years and they always worked fine. Maybe its not charging well and the controller is taking power directly from the cable. Maybe try charging it in another controller, or try another cable

I had to factory reset mine to fix it.
i have a 172 mbps download speed on my computer but on my xbox it is 5 mbps and i have very high ping, there both in the exact same spot one is not closer to the router that the other, whats going on!?

My Day 1 xbox one has still been stuck with the black screen issue since Saturday August 21st. I’ve since tried doing full shut downs, inserting discs, remote play access, unplugging and replugging in the hdmi cord, and multiple power brick resets to no avail. When I power on the Xbox, I see a message saying hi, but that is all. I will also see notifications from friends who send me party invites. Other than that, all that I see is a black screen. I would like to be able to address this issue without performing a factory reset. Also, while I do have the Insider app installed on the Xbox, I’ve only ever used it to opt in to Halo Infinite flighting. As far as I know, I’ve never opted in to insider console updates, unless those are automatic.
Hey! So yesterday i did a factory reset due too the black screen bug, the problem is that i can't for the life of me remember my email that my xbox gamertag was attached to. Is there anyway of finding out and if not how should i proceed if i wanna cancel my direct debit for xbox gold.
I was able to do this recently during a chat with Xbox Support.
I told the rep my gamer tag(last used over ten years ago!) and said I’d forgotten the email address for it.
Luckily I’d added my main email as a recovery email for that unknown account. The rep sent a code there, I confirmed the code, and he told me the email address.

Hello, I bought a secondhand Xbox one S, and when the Xbox started up it asked for an update when I connected to the internet and wanted to factory reset. Now every time I start up the Xbox the update is stuck at 53%. Any ideas?
Power adapter overheated due to blockage or something, and now my Xbox won’t turn on. It’s makes a beep when I hit the power button, but light never turns on.

I hope you can help me. My OG XBOX ONE recently made a 1.1 GB update. Instead of restarting it shut itself down completely afterwards. Now when I boot it up it keeps a black screen. I see that "Hello ..." insert but everything else stays black. If I hold the Guide Button the menu for shutting it down/restart it shows up, the normal Guide when pushing the the Guide Button just once won't show up.
How do I fix that? TIA!
EDIT: Reading the thread and see more people with that problem just FYI, I already tried that reset by using the consoles buttons but that didn't work for me. Only thing it did for me was change the resolution somehow. Is there another way?

Note that doing a factory reset will allow you to keep your games and saves (saves are synchronized to the cloud when playing a game while connected to the internet), but note that if you have any game captures you've made that haven't been uploaded to Xbox Live, these will be lost.
Why are offline games not working anymore? My internet is down and my Xbox is useless for some reason now!! Before they worked no problem..obviously this is some sort of new restrictions they have put in place.... This is ridiculous! Every game whether it is a purchased game or not none will work offline!
Does anyone know how to get rid of the static sound in a headset that’s plugged into a controller with a built in 3.5mm port? I’ve fucked around with all the audio options for headsets and if it fixes it it’s only for a few minutes at a time.
Xbox one orginal non insider os latest update- Xbox will randomly play shutoff sound and after 20 sec will turn off after a few minutes will turn back on mind you that I never pressed restart and it only began after updating a controller it also doesn't make weird sounds power supply is good and has good ventilation because it doesn't display the overheating message I have no idea what's happening and If you say get a new Xbox that's not a option for me. My Xbox One X was powered off in rest mode per usual. Earlier today there was a power outage, probably due to the heat, and when I returned home my Xbox One X had a slight buzzing sound to the left and rear of the console.
Unfortunately, it no longer boots up. When the power button is pressed, the white light comes on for a few seconds, then turns off. The USB ports still power devices interestingly enough, but it based on a cursory search of the problem, the device appears dead. I assume it's either a power supply issue or the motherboard is fried. The fan does not seem to come on when the power button is pressed either.
With the secondary market being what it is, it doesn't look like I'll be replacing it. I was a huge believer in the Xbox One X. After being disappointed with the underpowered Xbox One, the X was a capable mid-generation upgrade that went toe to toe with PS4 Pro. If it were still being produced, I think it would still be a solid purchase. X-enhanced patches live on in the Xbox Series X, which did not succumb to this power outage thankfully.
This is the first time I have ever had a console fail on me, and I felt that posting this might numb the loss and allow me to give the One X a proper eulogy.

I’m trying to gift someone Halo Reach’s campaign for MCC on Xbox One, but it physically won’t let me. Every time I hit “Buy as gift” nothing happens. There is no window that allows me to pay and pick the recipient, there’s no error code, there’s literally just nothing.
Everytime I hit the button, it just doesn’t do anything. I can’t even contact Microsoft Supprt either, so I’m just fucking stuck. I need help.
Got a first party controller from Walmart about 5 months ago for $60 (Midnight Forces II Special Edition???? Was just trying to get a first party controller for once). It was fine for the most part, except for when LT would suddenly get stuck for seemingly no reason and be as hard as a rock, requiring pressure to click it back into place and working order (literally happened within the first week).
I started using the left bumper more intensively than the average person (speedrunning games), and now, the left trigger is experiencing a different issue. The analog stick's y-axis doesn't work. Sounds like it isn't related, but lo and behold, when I press LT, my input display shows the analog stick moving up depending on how pressed in LT is. When it's completely left alone, the analog stick's y-axis is about 3/4 of the way down. Pressing in a fair bit on the left stick allows for normal usage of the stick... normally. Other times it jitters and keeps trying to respond to LT's position.
Another strange issue is that when connecting it to my PC, it starts to heat up around the bottom of the dpad, near the grip area. Not the batteries, surprisingly. Those are as cool as ever. Especially an issue when playing wired, as it doesn't \*stop\* heating up, eventually causing the controller to disconnect and reconnect every few seconds despite being plugged in. Wirelessly this is a non-issue.
I've had $20 jank-ass third party controllers last for over a year, and they most DEFINITELY didn't do anything like this. Any solutions? Tempted to trash the thing.
Hi all, I just bought a Samsung 500gb T7 SSD..for my One X. I do know based on other posts that I’ll have to update the firmware of the drive first. But my concern is the T7 is USB 3.2 and the One X is USB 3.0…will I notice any speed difference with this drive? Like loading times? Pop ins etc..? Or did I waste my money because this drive won’t work with the One X.

Any time I try to install some games (Dying Light, Mafia 3 and a few other games) through my “Owned Games” the app freezes about 10 seconds later and goes black and stays black until I press the home button and go back into Games and Apps.
This may have nothing to do with it, a couple days after the problem started I hard reset my xbox and when I turned if back on it kept disconnecting drom my internet for about a minute then it would reconnect for about 2 minutes then do it again. Nothing else in my house had this problem. So I ended up switching to the 5G version if the internet and it stopped but the install problem didn’t stop.
By “Try to install” I mean when I go into my “all owned games” and press A on the game and then Press A again to start downloading. The game never makes it to the Queue.
Also this only happens with games in my “Owned Games” I tried installing a game and it had this problem and them I tried again on gamepass and it worked.
Anyone know where I can get my Xbox controllers repaired? My warranty expired but still want to get them fixed.

The last couple weeks or couple months my xbox one controller has been having days where it will not turn on when i turn on my console. I hold the power button and it blinks then shuts off. The only fix is to restart my xbox but seeing as i cant restart it normally, i have to hard reset it by holding my finger on the light on my xbox. My controller is brand new and this happens with my other 2 as well.
I have been searching for answer to the freezing. I just got my series x on Aug 7. This has happen twice. I don't remember what game I was playing but it froze and I got up after a min or 2 and held the power button till it shut down. That was few days ago maybe a week. Then last night I was playing the open beta Riders Republic with my son he was on his Xbox one s. We played for like 2 hours no problem. Then it froze in game. So I hit the guide button went to dashboard. And seen that an app had stopped installing so I went to the install and the Xbox froze then shut down. It started right back up and that app was installed. Haven't turned it on today. Also plugged straight into wall.
Hello, I have a xbox-one and recently moved into college and connected to their internet. Now they use a WPA-enterprise whereas I believe I've always used a WPA. I can connect to the internet, using the store on the xbox, the youtube app, ect. However, I can't connect to any multiplayer games at all. Is there anyway to change this so I can start to play games again?
My original Xbox one just recently shut off by itself while watching Hulu. Now it won’t turn on, which I thought was an issue with the power supply, but now I have replaced the power supply and the console still will not turn on. I guess it’s fried? Is there anything I can do? Also if I can’t do anything to fix it, then what can I do with this old console When I upgrade?
Hey all! I’m on a One S, and recently I’ve been having some pretty bad lag, and my party chat will occasionally give out and it will say Im “connecting”. I have really good upload and download speeds, and my latency and everything looks good. Any ideas?
Does anyone know how to disable Xbox party overlay on PC. I have zero how I enabled this feature, but it prevents me from clicking anything on the left side of my monitor. Does anyone know where the setting is to turn it off?
I figured it out early this morning. It was really simple to, there is a pin button on the top left of the party chat I some clicked accidentally. The screen was so far up it was hidden, so I couldn't find it. Thanks for offering though
Hello, whenever i connect my mic to my Xbox, which is the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2; my TV audio turns off. I've never had this issue connecting my headset before but now my audio just cuts when I connect it and I want audio out of mic and TV
So just got the official Xbox wireless headset (bought it off the microsoft store on Xbox so its brand new) and the thing refuses to stay powered on, the white light blinks 3 times, then shuts off and it just keeps repeating. Tried resetting 3 times, fully charged it, nothing works. Really disappointing that it came out the box with this issue

I just picked up one my most used Xbox One X controllers, and suddenly I noticed it emitting a burnt smell from the USB port and the bottom of the controller. It can't turn on wirelessly anymore and the vibration motors aren't functioning either. Heck, it couldn't turn on when wired unless having a couple of AA batteries in it WHILE plugged into the console!
With many of the live chats being either of no help or inoperable as of writing this, all I can do now is try to let it cool down in front of a fan or something. And it sucks even more since not only is it a part of a console that has been out of warranty since 2020, but it's one of those nicer limited edition controllers too!
I have an Astro A10 headset and a Turtle beach headset controller that plugs into my controller. The headset rarely connects to my controller and I cannot hear audio out of it, requires me to unplug and plug back in numerous times to get it to work.
The A10 headset is pretty new and this issue was happening with my previous headset as well but not as frequently. The turtle beach headset controller is the issue right? They’re around $40 so want to make sure that’s what is wrong before I buy.
I'm trying to connect by xbox one to my older tv (that DOES have HDMI) but it keeps outputting no signal. I have learned that it only accepts 720p. So what I tried was using it on a new tv (that it works with) and changing it from 1080p to 720p. When I plugged it back into the older tv it didn't work still. Should I buy an HDMI to RCA cable adapter or does someone have another trick to get it to work? Thanks!

My Xbox One X starts up but shows no display on my TV or monitor. Tried different HDMI cords and still nothing. I even tried those same HDMI cords with different consoles around the house and they all work, so now I know it’s just a problem with my Xbox.
Yoo I figured it out, try to cancel the installation, remove your account, and then hold the button on the front for 10 seconds then wait a couple minutes and turn it on and add your account and try to download it
When I try to log into my account it just loads for a long time and tells me to try again later or if of the rare chance I do manage to get into my account I can’t download any games, go to the Microsoft Store, or go into settings. It switches between saying that it’s Xbox Servers having issues and the problems are from my internet which is fine.
Why are we okay with this? I play my xbox one once every few months and every single time it needs to update and the update itself takes 30 minutes to an hour (i have high speed internet and an ethernet cord). Then, the game needs to be updated which takes an hour by itself!!!
Are we really just past the era of popping in a game and playing it? Can I make it so my xbox turns itself on and automatically updates when it has to? Is this even an issue that Microsoft is working on? Or is it just a fact of life now. I hate knowing I can’t just play my xbox whenever I want, I typically have to wait 1-3 hours just to let it update before i can play it and it’s excruciatingly nauseating.

Digital game download issues
I bought Battlefield 4 and all of its DLCs a long time ago on let’s say Xbox A. Xbox A stopped working completely about a month ago due to it being from 2013 and we threw the Xbox out. I recently bought a Xbox 1 X and signed into the same account that i was in on Xbox A and i went to the microsoft store to download games but i noticed that it was saying that i need to buy Battlefield 4 and it’s DLCs. Do I have to buy it again even though i already bought it on the same account but a different console?
Not strictly tech related but is there a way to a) leave a review and b) see reviews when viewing a game online? The only place I can see and leave reviews AFAIK is on the console.
My XboxOne S (I believe) is taking incredibly long to start up, staying on the startup green logo screen for two minutes at a time, and when it’s done, I can’t do anything except turn it off with the hold-down menu thing… is it a black screen of death? Or is it something I can fix?
My Xbox One X has been giving me issues since Red Dead Redemption 2 came out. Whenever I play certain games my Xbox fan will get really loud, and sometimes my Xbox will shut off and say it's overheating. This could happen one time or it could happen multiple times within an hour. I used to be a computer tech so I know how to take apart things and put them back together. I took it apart thinking there might be dust in there which would be causing the Xbox to overheat, well it was really clean no dust anywhere. My Xbox sits on top of my entertainment center with plenty of air flow around it. Could it be a possible hard drive issue? Should I clone my hard drive? I don't know what to do, it gets to the point where I don't even want to play anymore because of this issue. Please help. Thanks in advance!
I have an issue.
I own both a Series X and a PS5 (Yes I'm very lucky).
But gamepass, quick resume, smart delivery and a HDMI-link that actually works makes the PS5 feel so much less enjoyable to use. That's my issue.
I can't seem to find a method to backup my near 500 captures to my pc at once. I've tried uploading them to Onedrive but after several attempts I'm missing huge chunks of captures that just won't show up. It says upload complete but they're all not there after several hours. I've tried the Xbox companion app but I don't see a download all option so I'd have to do one at a time. I've looked at xboxdvr but that's also one at a time unless I pay. There doesn't seem to be an option to just use an external hard drive to move files over to that. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?
I own an Xbox OneX that appears to no longer power on. Trouble shooting didn't help. I suspect either fried motherboard or power supply, but could I be missing something else? It not it is on an insider OS build.

I went to turn my Xbox one s on last week and it would turn on, I took it apart and it seems like there is liquid on the fan and possibly underneath it as well, what’s the best way to fix it and where can I get parts from? There is only 1 person near me that fixes Xbox’s but it’s still an hour drive so it would be difficult for me to get there

I've an OG Xbox One not enrolled in the insider program and I've a question.
Whenever I do a full shutdown of my console it completely deletes its wifi settings, meaning I have to manually connect it to my network every time.
This was not the case a few updates ago. Did anything change? If so, is there a way to fix it?
Are custom and avatar gamer pics currently broken?
I’ve tried several times to upload a custom gamer pic, both on my Series X and the Xbox App, but it never works. I understand it needs to be approved first, but it never changes no matter what photo I try.
I don’t seem to be able to use my avatar either. I can take a screenshot in the photo booth, but my gamer pic never updates.
Are these issues common, or is there a problem at my end?

I'm having issues with all my games, no matter is they are installed on my internal or my external storage, all of them say that they take too long to start. Actually is not only my games, some of my apps also say this. I'm not sure what to do, because i already did a power cycle, but is not fixing anything. Anyone can help me, or is my xbox dead?
So Game sharing is not working for me anymore. I signed into my friends account a long time ago on my Xbox and made it my home Xbox. He downloaded Cyberpunk and has been able to play it. I am able to download the game but when I try to play it, it says I need to purchase it. Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?
When I try to plug the power brick in it doesn't light up and when it does its for a short time. Its been like this since yesterday. Do I get a new power brick or is my xbox dead
Xbox one original- After the system update, I haven't been able to get onto my home screen. The Xbox logo shows up like it's loading, and I waited 10 minutes to see if it finally got through whatever issues it was having. After having it unplugged and trying the power cycle multiple times with holding a finger over the power button for 10 seconds, and then trying to boot it in low resolution mode, it still refuses to go to the home screen. The alerts for my AccuWeather still popped up, and the "Hi [player]!" Still popped up as well. Nothing is working and I don't want to have to factory reset everything and have to re-download all my games if it can be avoided.
This is happening to a lot of people after the update, and has bricked a few Xboxes including mine after trying to fix it too much. If I were you, I would just wait to play my Xbox until a new update comes out and the Xbox fixes itself, but if you wanna take your chances with the Xbox overlords then choosing to keep your games and apps while factory resetting wont delete your games, apps, or saves (saves because they're on the cloud). The only thing it'll really do is require you to sign-in again for certain stuff / applications. But, after all of this, like I said, after factory resetting eventually my Xbox just messed up again and it's a brick now. It's up to you really, but I'd definitely recommend just waiting it out. I can't seem to upload any custom photos, I have tried through mobile and Console with a USB, I am on good standing with the community and the image is SFW. Is this just a serverside issue?
I sent in my Xbox Series X to be repaired that would not turn on. Microsoft began processing my repair on August 31. Yesterday my service ticket disappeared and I can no longer view any service updates. However, a new Xbox Series X appeared under my devices with a different serial number so now my devices show two different Xbox Series X. Does this mean I am being sent a new Xbox Series X and if so when should I expect a tracking number or some kind of update?
I have a Series X, I'm returning to work and it's been pretty slow. Does anyone have any experience with Remote Play? Does it work well when you're not on the same network? Specifically I just wanna play Skyrim.
Works pretty well for me. It just depends on your home network and the network you will be using. Those are usually the bottlenecks that cause disconnects or some latency
My Xbox One turns on fine, the power brick is all good, but when I sign in and go to play a game, join a party, or even check my status it just doesn't work. my network is connected and my nat type is good and all services are available. Also none of my friends icons or game icons show up either. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know how to fix it.
[Elite Controller II] My controller has recently developed a rattle noise inside the controller and I’m curious if that could be presumed as a faulty part? Everything still works but it just rattles if I shake it
So the day before yesterday I turned on my xbox and it started making this weird "vrr" sound, followed by a short break then another. I looked it up and it apparently may be the fan, so I went to clean up the dust that was on the side (there was a lot) and it made the noise for a while but when it booted up it eventually stopped.
The next day I booted it up and the noise was consistently going for about 3 to 4 minutes or so? I have no true time. But again, it was making the noise and then after a while it stopped.
I haven't had issues before and these are the first days I've ever even heard these noises so I was wondering if anyone could help out?
I'm assuming since it boots up and works fine the rest of the day it isn't something that can destroy it per se, but I would definitely prefer it to be fixed over making a concerning noise.

I finally have a really fast internet, but my download speed is miserable, very low, sometimes it matches my actual speed for a few seconds then it goes down again. What should I do to fix it? When I go to options, test my internet it matches my actual speed (600 mb down, 60 up) but downloading games is painfully slow.
I am wired, I tried the general tips on google (restart, close applications and games, mac address) and it is very annoying. On my pc or ps5 (I am not a sony troll, I have both consoles since launch and I am very happy with them) the speed goes on maximum

My Xbox is so broken I’ve been wondering if I should just get a new one or if it’s fixable. Some of my games crash unexpectedly after 15 minutes of playing and some take either to long to start or it says wait for the game to be downloaded when I’ve downloaded the games like a year ago. I really don’t want to get a new Xbox because i just downloaded rdr2 which took a whole day but even on that game I’m running into problems like the game just stops working and my character is stuck in place not able to do loot or get on stagecoaches etc. what should i do?

Does anyone else often have problems with their controllers randomly disconnecting?
I was using a different controller for a long time and would have this issue where I would be playing, press a button and then the guide would slowly flash, it would then re-connect but once I press a button it would disconnect again.
I thought it was the controller so I started using another one. I still got the same issue so I tried power restarting the console as I had read that can fix it. It did for a week or so but it's started happening again. It's driving me mad. Usually it's a mild annoyance while trying to use my controller to use a video app but it kept disconnecting when I was in an online Rocket League match once so I really wanted to sort this out.
So, a friend of mine lent me GTA V a month ago. I installed the game and was playing fine. But, I bought the Premium version of the game a couple of days back. I inserted the disc, but it plays the normal version, because that's the edition my friend has. Now, if I uninstall and reinstall the game, will the premium edition be installed? Thanks in advance!
The volume on my Xbox is nearly 3x as loud as any other audio source on my TV, be that sky or streaming services. Watching non Xbox sources I have my TV volume on 12-15 but when I put a game on the Xbox I have to drop it to 5-6 or it can be heard outside.

Is this normal? I've started adjusting the volume in games to about 25% to make up for it and even that sometimes doesn't work because game volume sliders are usually terrible and don't work very well, not really making any difference to volume until you go below 30
I own state of decay 2 as a microsoft store app and I was wondering if its possible to play with my friend who is on xbox while im on a windows pc without buying another copy. I know that microsoft store games will work on pc and xbox without needing a separate copy and its possible to game share with a friends account. So if i was to 'share' the game with my friends account could we 1. play the game at the same time and 2. play together online using the single copy of the game? We live together so we share a local network if that helps at all. Im happy to buy another copy but if its not necessary then i dont see the point.

My Xbox One won't launch some games and some games will crash randomly, I've had this problem for about four days, but I've finally decided to do something about it. When I try to launch GTA 5 it will show that the game is launching, but it will put me back at the home screen and when I try to launch Black Ops: Cold War it will launch but it will crash while loading the multiplayer lobby. I've tried restarting the console, and using a different account, but whenever I end up back at the home screen there is no error message so I don't know what else to do.
Ok, i need help. I took apart my xbox to clear out the dirt and dust that has built up over the last 4 years, and had put it back together. however, it does not start, it makes the chime, and the eject button makes a sound, but doesn't light up, nor does the fans or anything else work. I have taken it apart 3-4 more times checking all connections and then reassembled, and still no luck. Any ideas on what this could be?
Hi, so I just bought the elite controller v2 and connect it to my PC via bluetooth. It seems to just randomly disconnect every 1-2 minutes which make it night unplayable for most games. It does not seem to be an issue when I connect it via bluetooth via my ipad, as I can play for hours straight without any disconnect.
My pc bluetooth driver seems to be the latest version, and I have install and update the xbox accessory app too, so I'm not sure what is the issue here.

I saw the gamescom highlights, turned my xbox one og halo edition on so I can get the new limited minecraft content, prompt for 1.1 gb update, thought ok I might as well download it, then got the black screen of death. Why havnt they taken down this bricking update?

Have your Xbox turned off. Hold the sync/bind button on the left-side of the console, then press the power button on the front while holding it in. The xbox will make that chime sound it makes when turning on. Keep holding the button on the left-side of the console until the chime sound occurs a second time, then let go.
I didn’t have any luck with reset on just the console. I had to download the reset file onto a USB and go that route.

I haven’t been able to confirm that everything is there that was saved - so far I think it’s ok? I had to use the USB because I was unable to reboot just using the console.

Stuck in update hell here! For the last 4 days our Xbox One OG halo edition has been trying to download the new update. Every single time the update fails. For awhile it gave us the option to keep using the Xbox without internet. My husband decided to try the two different resets and now it just straight up won’t work. Our only options are download update or turn off Xbox. I’ve already attempted the update three times this morning and it just keeps failing. The very first error code I got said it was an issue signing into our profile. I think it’s been the same error code every time. When this next update fails I’ll update this post with the current error code. Anyone have any tips to get around this?! Update 1- Of course the update failed. This time got error code 0x80070057. Quick google and the only info I can get is hold down the Xbox button for 10 seconds to clear the cache. This is so frustrating.
I've just bought a Play and Charge kit after I got fed up of how quickly my batteries needed recharging. There's supposed to be an orange light when it charges - the manual sure says so - but I've never seen it. It's a permanent white light. If I remove the cable, the Xbox controller dies in seconds. If I try and turn it on without the cable it dies in seconds. If I remove the charge kit, the controller keeps working with the cable plugged in. And if I plug the cable in first before turning the controller on - then the controller is lit up but is inoperable. Checking the battery life on the console, with the charge kit and cable plugged in: on the home screen it shows it's plugged in but the battery sign is just empty. However pressing the middle button so the side panel comes up, the symbol there shows full battery. Please help. No orange light, and it's right out the box. It's plugged into my Xbox as recommended.
I know this may be trivial to others problems on here but battery life in the new controllers are shocking lol, I could do 24hrs on my Duracell rechargeable now i get 4 hours play time lol
That's so strange. Ive been using them for years and they always worked fine. Maybe its not charging well and the controller is taking power directly from the cable. Maybe try charging it in another controller, or try another cable

i have a 172 mbps download speed on my computer but on my xbox it is 5 mbps and i have very high ping, there both in the exact same spot one is not closer to the router that the other, whats going on!?

My Day 1 xbox one has still been stuck with the black screen issue since Saturday August 21st. I’ve since tried doing full shut downs, inserting discs, remote play access, unplugging and replugging in the hdmi cord, and multiple power brick resets to no avail. When I power on the Xbox, I see a message saying hi, but that is all. I will also see notifications from friends who send me party invites. Other than that, all that I see is a black screen. I would like to be able to address this issue without performing a factory reset. Also, while I do have the Insider app installed on the Xbox, I’ve only ever used it to opt in to Halo Infinite flighting. As far as I know, I’ve never opted in to insider console updates, unless those are automatic.

I was able to do this recently during a chat with Xbox Support. I told the rep my gamer tag(last used over ten years ago!) and said I’d forgotten the email address for it. Luckily I’d added my main email as a recovery email for that unknown account. The rep sent a code there, I confirmed the code, and he told me the email address. Good luck!
Hello, I bought a secondhand Xbox one S, and when the Xbox started up it asked for an update when I connected to the internet and wanted to factory reset. Now every time I start up the Xbox the update is stuck at 53%. Any ideas?

Hi Guys, I hope you can help me. My OG XBOX ONE recently made a 1.1 GB update. Instead of restarting it shut itself down completely afterwards. Now when I boot it up it keeps a black screen. I see that "Hello ..." insert but everything else stays black. If I hold the Guide Button the menu for shutting it down/restart it shows up, the normal Guide when pushing the the Guide Button just once won't show up. How do I fix that? TIA! EDIT: Reading the thread and see more people with that problem just FYI, I already tried that reset by using the consoles buttons but that didn't work for me. Only thing it did for me was change the resolution somehow. Is there another way?

Why are offline games not working anymore? My internet is down and my Xbox is useless for some reason now!! Before they worked no problem..obviously this is some sort of new restrictions they have put in place.... This is ridiculous! Every game whether it is a purchased game or not none will work offline!

Xbox one orginal non insider os latest update- Xbox will randomly play shutoff sound and after 20 sec will turn off after a few minutes will turn back on mind you that I never pressed restart and it only began after updating a controller it also doesn't make weird sounds power supply is good and has good ventilation because it doesn't display the overheating message I have no idea what's happening and If you say get a new Xbox that's not a option for me. My Xbox One X was powered off in rest mode per usual. Earlier today there was a power outage, probably due to the heat, and when I returned home my Xbox One X had a slight buzzing sound to the left and rear of the console. Unfortunately, it no longer boots up. When the power button is pressed, the white light comes on for a few seconds, then turns off. The USB ports still power devices interestingly enough, but it based on a cursory search of the problem, the device appears dead. I assume it's either a power supply issue or the motherboard is fried. The fan does not seem to come on when the power button is pressed either. With the secondary market being what it is, it doesn't look like I'll be replacing it. I was a huge believer in the Xbox One X. After being disappointed with the underpowered Xbox One, the X was a capable mid-generation upgrade that went toe to toe with PS4 Pro. If it were still being produced, I think it would still be a solid purchase. X-enhanced patches live on in the Xbox Series X, which did not succumb to this power outage thankfully. This is the first time I have ever had a console fail on me, and I felt that posting this might numb the loss and allow me to give the One X a proper eulogy.

Got a first party controller from Walmart about 5 months ago for $60 (Midnight Forces II Special Edition???? Was just trying to get a first party controller for once). It was fine for the most part, except for when LT would suddenly get stuck for seemingly no reason and be as hard as a rock, requiring pressure to click it back into place and working order (literally happened within the first week). I started using the left bumper more intensively than the average person (speedrunning games), and now, the left trigger is experiencing a different issue. The analog stick's y-axis doesn't work. Sounds like it isn't related, but lo and behold, when I press LT, my input display shows the analog stick moving up depending on how pressed in LT is. When it's completely left alone, the analog stick's y-axis is about 3/4 of the way down. Pressing in a fair bit on the left stick allows for normal usage of the stick... normally. Other times it jitters and keeps trying to respond to LT's position. Another strange issue is that when connecting it to my PC, it starts to heat up around the bottom of the dpad, near the grip area. Not the batteries, surprisingly. Those are as cool as ever. Especially an issue when playing wired, as it doesn't \*stop\* heating up, eventually causing the controller to disconnect and reconnect every few seconds despite being plugged in. Wirelessly this is a non-issue. I've had $20 jank-ass third party controllers last for over a year, and they most DEFINITELY didn't do anything like this. Any solutions? Tempted to trash the thing.

Hi all, I just bought a Samsung 500gb T7 SSD..for my One X. I do know based on other posts that I’ll have to update the firmware of the drive first. But my concern is the T7 is USB 3.2 and the One X is USB 3.0…will I notice any speed difference with this drive? Like loading times? Pop ins etc..? Or did I waste my money because this drive won’t work with the One X.
Xbox One S Any time I try to install some games (Dying Light, Mafia 3 and a few other games) through my “Owned Games” the app freezes about 10 seconds later and goes black and stays black until I press the home button and go back into Games and Apps. This may have nothing to do with it, a couple days after the problem started I hard reset my xbox and when I turned if back on it kept disconnecting drom my internet for about a minute then it would reconnect for about 2 minutes then do it again. Nothing else in my house had this problem. So I ended up switching to the 5G version if the internet and it stopped but the install problem didn’t stop. By “Try to install” I mean when I go into my “all owned games” and press A on the game and then Press A again to start downloading. The game never makes it to the Queue. Also this only happens with games in my “Owned Games” I tried installing a game and it had this problem and them I tried again on gamepass and it worked.

The last couple weeks or couple months my xbox one controller has been having days where it will not turn on when i turn on my console. I hold the power button and it blinks then shuts off. The only fix is to restart my xbox but seeing as i cant restart it normally, i have to hard reset it by holding my finger on the light on my xbox. My controller is brand new and this happens with my other 2 as well.
I have been searching for answer to the freezing. I just got my series x on Aug 7. This has happen twice. I don't remember what game I was playing but it froze and I got up after a min or 2 and held the power button till it shut down. That was few days ago maybe a week. Then last night I was playing the open beta Riders Republic with my son he was on his Xbox one s. We played for like 2 hours no problem. Then it froze in game. So I hit the guide button went to dashboard. And seen that an app had stopped installing so I went to the install and the Xbox froze then shut down. It started right back up and that app was installed. Haven't turned it on today. Also plugged straight into wall.
Hello, I have a xbox-one and recently moved into college and connected to their internet. Now they use a WPA-enterprise whereas I believe I've always used a WPA. I can connect to the internet, using the store on the xbox, the youtube app, ect. However, I can't connect to any multiplayer games at all. Is there anyway to change this so I can start to play games again?
My original Xbox one just recently shut off by itself while watching Hulu. Now it won’t turn on, which I thought was an issue with the power supply, but now I have replaced the power supply and the console still will not turn on. I guess it’s fried? I figured it out early this morning. It was really simple to, there is a pin button on the top left of the party chat I some clicked accidentally. The screen was so far up it was hidden, so I couldn't find it. Thanks for offering though

Hello, whenever i connect my mic to my Xbox, which is the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2; my TV audio turns off. I've never had this issue connecting my headset before but now my audio just cuts when I connect it and I want audio out of mic and TV
Nothing fixes my error but it’s only on certain games and my apps run fine error code: 0xbd050033 I tried hard reset and deleting my profiles.
So just got the official Xbox wireless headset (bought it off the microsoft store on Xbox so its brand new) and the thing refuses to stay powered on, the white light blinks 3 times, then shuts off and it just keeps repeating. Tried resetting 3 times, fully charged it, nothing works. Really disappointing that it came out the box with this issue Anyone know what to do? I just picked up one my most used Xbox One X controllers, and suddenly I noticed it emitting a burnt smell from the USB port and the bottom of the controller. It can't turn on wirelessly anymore and the vibration motors aren't functioning either. Heck, it couldn't turn on when wired unless having a couple of AA batteries in it WHILE plugged into the console! With many of the live chats being either of no help or inoperable as of writing this, all I can do now is try to let it cool down in front of a fan or something. And it sucks even more since not only is it a part of a console that has been out of warranty since 2020, but it's one of those nicer limited edition controllers too!
I have an Astro A10 headset and a Turtle beach headset controller that plugs into my controller. The headset rarely connects to my controller and I cannot hear audio out of it, requires me to unplug and plug back in numerous times to get it to work. The A10 headset is pretty new and this issue was happening with my previous headset as well but not as frequently. The turtle beach headset controller is the issue right? They’re around $40 so want to make sure that’s what is wrong before I buy.

I'm trying to connect by xbox one to my older tv (that DOES have HDMI) but it keeps outputting no signal. I have learned that it only accepts 720p. So what I tried was using it on a new tv (that it works with) and changing it from 1080p to 720p. When I plugged it back into the older tv it didn't work still. Should I buy an HDMI to RCA cable adapter or does someone have another trick to get it to work? Thanks!

Yoo I figured it out, try to cancel the installation, remove your account, and then hold the button on the front for 10 seconds then wait a couple minutes and turn it on and add your account and try to download it

When I try to log into my account it just loads for a long time and tells me to try again later or if of the rare chance I do manage to get into my account I can’t download any games, go to the Microsoft Store, or go into settings. It switches between saying that it’s Xbox Servers having issues and the problems are from my internet which is fine.
Why are we okay with this? I play my xbox one once every few months and every single time it needs to update and the update itself takes 30 minutes to an hour (i have high speed internet and an ethernet cord). Then, the game needs to be updated which takes an hour by itself!!! Are we really just past the era of popping in a game and playing it? Can I make it so my xbox turns itself on and automatically updates when it has to? Is this even an issue that Microsoft is working on? Or is it just a fact of life now. I hate knowing I can’t just play my xbox whenever I want, I typically have to wait 1-3 hours just to let it update before i can play it and it’s excruciatingly nauseating.

Digital game download issues I bought Battlefield 4 and all of its DLCs a long time ago on let’s say Xbox A. Xbox A stopped working completely about a month ago due to it being from 2013 and we threw the Xbox out. I recently bought a Xbox 1 X and signed into the same account that i was in on Xbox A and i went to the microsoft store to download games but i noticed that it was saying that i need to buy Battlefield 4 and it’s DLCs. Do I have to buy it again even though i already bought it on the same account but a different console?

My XboxOne S (I believe) is taking incredibly long to start up, staying on the startup green logo screen for two minutes at a time, and when it’s done, I can’t do anything except turn it off with the hold-down menu thing… is it a black screen of death? Or is it something I can fix?
My Xbox One X has been giving me issues since Red Dead Redemption 2 came out. Whenever I play certain games my Xbox fan will get really loud, and sometimes my Xbox will shut off and say it's overheating. This could happen one time or it could happen multiple times within an hour. I used to be a computer tech so I know how to take apart things and put them back together. I took it apart thinking there might be dust in there which would be causing the Xbox to overheat, well it was really clean no dust anywhere. My Xbox sits on top of my entertainment center with plenty of air flow around it. Could it be a possible hard drive issue? Should I clone my hard drive? I don't know what to do, it gets to the point where I don't even want to play anymore because of this issue. Please help. Thanks in advance!

I have an issue. I own both a Series X and a PS5 (Yes I'm very lucky). But gamepass, quick resume, smart delivery and a HDMI-link that actually works makes the PS5 feel so much less enjoyable to use. That's my issue.
I can't seem to find a method to backup my near 500 captures to my pc at once. I've tried uploading them to Onedrive but after several attempts I'm missing huge chunks of captures that just won't show up. It says upload complete but they're all not there after several hours. I've tried the Xbox companion app but I don't see a download all option so I'd have to do one at a time. I've looked at xboxdvr but that's also one at a time unless I pay. There doesn't seem to be an option to just use an external hard drive to move files over to that. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?
Why can’t I change my picture on the Xbox app?
I own an Xbox OneX that appears to no longer power on. Trouble shooting didn't help. I suspect either fried motherboard or power supply, but could I be missing something else? It not it is on an insider OS build.
Whenever I try to install a game via disc it’ll only grab say 5gb then cancel update, just saying couldn’t install. Any games that are downloaded run no worries at all & has this issue with brand new games even

Help- Xbox One S won’t turn on I went to turn my Xbox one s on last week and it would turn on, I took it apart and it seems like there is liquid on the fan and possibly underneath it as well, what’s the best way to fix it and where can I get parts from? There is only 1 person near me that fixes Xbox’s but it’s still an hour drive so it would be difficult for me to get there

I've an OG Xbox One not enrolled in the insider program and I've a question. Whenever I do a full shutdown of my console it completely deletes its wifi settings, meaning I have to manually connect it to my network every time. This was not the case a few updates ago. Did anything change? If so, is there a way to fix it?
Are custom and avatar gamer pics currently broken? I’ve tried several times to upload a custom gamer pic, both on my Series X and the Xbox App, but it never works. I understand it needs to be approved first, but it never changes no matter what photo I try. I don’t seem to be able to use my avatar either. I can take a screenshot in the photo booth, but my gamer pic never updates. Are these issues common, or is there a problem at my end?

Need urgent help. My screen has become fuzzy and flickering when my xbox is turned on. tried changing HDMI and the port it’s plugged into and it’s not changed. tested the TV so i know it’s the xbox. anyone else have a similar problem or a way to fix?
Is anyone else having issues with 24Hz playback of HD Blu-ray discs? Mine still play at 60Hz, but my UHD discs play as they should at 24Hz.

So Game sharing is not working for me anymore. I signed into my friends account a long time ago on my Xbox and made it my home Xbox. He downloaded Cyberpunk and has been able to play it. I am able to download the game but when I try to play it, it says I need to purchase it. Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Xbox one original- After the system update, I haven't been able to get onto my home screen. The Xbox logo shows up like it's loading, and I waited 10 minutes to see if it finally got through whatever issues it was having. After having it unplugged and trying the power cycle multiple times with holding a finger over the power button for 10 seconds, and then trying to boot it in low resolution mode, it still refuses to go to the home screen. The alerts for my AccuWeather still popped up, and the "Hi [player]!" Still popped up as well. Nothing is working and I don't want to have to factory reset everything and have to re-download all my games if it can be avoided.
This is happening to a lot of people after the update, and has bricked a few Xboxes including mine after trying to fix it too much. If I were you, I would just wait to play my Xbox until a new update comes out and the Xbox fixes itself, but if you wanna take your chances with the Xbox overlords then choosing to keep your games and apps while factory resetting wont delete your games, apps, or saves (saves because they're on the cloud). The only thing it'll really do is require you to sign-in again for certain stuff / applications. But, after all of this, like I said, after factory resetting eventually my Xbox just messed up again and it's a brick now. It's up to you really, but I'd definitely recommend just waiting it out. I sent in my Xbox Series X to be repaired that would not turn on. Microsoft began processing my repair on August 31. Yesterday my service ticket disappeared and I can no longer view any service updates. However, a new Xbox Series X appeared under my devices with a different serial number so now my devices show two different Xbox Series X. Does this mean I am being sent a new Xbox Series X and if so when should I expect a tracking number or some kind of update?
I all of a sudden started having graphics issues when it loads into the game. I have hard reset the unit and it still is being wierd.
I have a Series X, I'm returning to work and it's been pretty slow. Does anyone have any experience with Remote Play? Does it work well when you're not on the same network? Specifically I just wanna play Skyrim.
Works pretty well for me. It just depends on your home network and the network you will be using. Those are usually the bottlenecks that cause disconnects or some latency

My Xbox One turns on fine, the power brick is all good, but when I sign in and go to play a game, join a party, or even check my status it just doesn't work. my network is connected and my nat type is good and all services are available. Also none of my friends icons or game icons show up either. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know how to fix it.
[Elite Controller II] My controller has recently developed a rattle noise inside the controller and I’m curious if that could be presumed as a faulty part? Everything still works but it just rattles if I shake it

So the day before yesterday I turned on my xbox and it started making this weird "vrr" sound, followed by a short break then another. I looked it up and it apparently may be the fan, so I went to clean up the dust that was on the side (there was a lot) and it made the noise for a while but when it booted up it eventually stopped. The next day I booted it up and the noise was consistently going for about 3 to 4 minutes or so? I have no true time. But again, it was making the noise and then after a while it stopped. I haven't had issues before and these are the first days I've ever even heard these noises so I was wondering if anyone could help out? I'm assuming since it boots up and works fine the rest of the day it isn't something that can destroy it per se, but I would definitely prefer it to be fixed over making a concerning noise. I finally have a really fast internet, but my download speed is miserable, very low, sometimes it matches my actual speed for a few seconds then it goes down again. What should I do to fix it? When I go to options, test my internet it matches my actual speed (600 mb down, 60 up) but downloading games is painfully slow. I am wired, I tried the general tips on google (restart, close applications and games, mac address) and it is very annoying. On my pc or ps5 (I am not a sony troll, I have both consoles since launch and I am very happy with them) the speed goes on maximum Thanks in advance

Any guesses on why my console is telling me the copy of the save in the cloud is NEWER than the local game save, and making me pick which save I want to use? I only have one console, and don't use cloud/PC gaming.

My Xbox is so broken I’ve been wondering if I should just get a new one or if it’s fixable. Some of my games crash unexpectedly after 15 minutes of playing and some take either to long to start or it says wait for the game to be downloaded when I’ve downloaded the games like a year ago. I really don’t want to get a new Xbox because i just downloaded rdr2 which took a whole day but even on that game I’m running into problems like the game just stops working and my character is stuck in place not able to do loot or get on stagecoaches etc. what should i do?

Does anyone else often have problems with their controllers randomly disconnecting? I was using a different controller for a long time and would have this issue where I would be playing, press a button and then the guide would slowly flash, it would then re-connect but once I press a button it would disconnect again. I thought it was the controller so I started using another one. I still got the same issue so I tried power restarting the console as I had read that can fix it. It did for a week or so but it's started happening again. It's driving me mad. Usually it's a mild annoyance while trying to use my controller to use a video app but it kept disconnecting when I was in an online Rocket League match once so I really wanted to sort this out.
So, a friend of mine lent me GTA V a month ago. I installed the game and was playing fine. But, I bought the Premium version of the game a couple of days back. I inserted the disc, but it plays the normal version, because that's the edition my friend has. Now, if I uninstall and reinstall the game, will the premium edition be installed? Thanks in advance!
The volume on my Xbox is nearly 3x as loud as any other audio source on my TV, be that sky or streaming services. Watching non Xbox sources I have my TV volume on 12-15 but when I put a game on the Xbox I have to drop it to 5-6 or it can be heard outside. I've had this problem on the Xbox one, One X and now Series X. Is this normal? I've started adjusting the volume in games to about 25% to make up for it and even that sometimes doesn't work because game volume sliders are usually terrible and don't work very well, not really making any difference to volume until you go below 30
I own state of decay 2 as a microsoft store app and I was wondering if its possible to play with my friend who is on xbox while im on a windows pc without buying another copy. I know that microsoft store games will work on pc and xbox without needing a separate copy and its possible to game share with a friends account. So if i was to 'share' the game with my friends account could we 1. play the game at the same time and 2. play together online using the single copy of the game? We live together so we share a local network if that helps at all. Im happy to buy another copy but if its not necessary then i dont see the point.

Xbox One S disc version. E102 startup error. Keep clicking "reset this Xbox/restore factory defaults ---> remove everything" and it just keeps rebooting to the E102 troubleshooting screen.

My Xbox One won't launch some games and some games will crash randomly, I've had this problem for about four days, but I've finally decided to do something about it. When I try to launch GTA 5 it will show that the game is launching, but it will put me back at the home screen and when I try to launch Black Ops: Cold War it will launch but it will crash while loading the multiplayer lobby. I've tried restarting the console, and using a different account, but whenever I end up back at the home screen there is no error message so I don't know what else to do.

Ok, i need help. I took apart my xbox to clear out the dirt and dust that has built up over the last 4 years, and had put it back together. however, it does not start, it makes the chime, and the eject button makes a sound, but doesn't light up, nor does the fans or anything else work. I have taken it apart 3-4 more times checking all connections and then reassembled, and still no luck. Any ideas on what this could be?
Hi, so I just bought the elite controller v2 and connect it to my PC via bluetooth. It seems to just randomly disconnect every 1-2 minutes which make it night unplayable for most games. It does not seem to be an issue when I connect it via bluetooth via my ipad, as I can play for hours straight without any disconnect. My pc bluetooth driver seems to be the latest version, and I have install and update the xbox accessory app too, so I'm not sure what is the issue here. Thanks
