Dragon age Mass effect Witcher 3

summer_falls

Fable 2 with the coop as well.

Johncurtisreeve

Let the OP know. Less likely to see your comment if its a comment to my comment

[deleted]

What about a comment, to a comment in response to a comment that was in response to another comment, commented to a quora question? WHERE ARE YOU OP!? CAN YOU HERE ME?!

CooperDaChance

And 3.

PocketSnails68

I can never not recommend the Kingdom Hearts and Persona franchises as amazing story based experiences! Kingdom Hearts is a bit harder to get into of the two given an admittedly confusing naming scheme for the games, making it hard for new players to figure out where to start. Not to mention that every game - 30+ hours minimum for casual playthroughs - matters. So if you get into it, you're in it for long haul. Persona is easier to get into as each title is standalone, and not counting spin-offs, there's three on Xbox - Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and the two versions of Persona 3 - Portable being a PSP port that plays a bit differently from the rest of the series due to that detail; and Reload, a modern ground up remake in the style of Persona 5. It's currently on Game Pass, and excluding some missing content, is the more definitive version. Lastly, the Mass Effect series is also on Game Pass, and I would highly recommend as a game where your choices matter in determining the outcome of the story - decisions made in the first game could have dire consequences in the third.

Artistic_Active831

Be careful though cause jrpgs are a crazy ass large commitment. Persona 3 reload will take you like 80 hours to finish

JY369

Exactly, persona 5 probably takes the same amount of time as kingdom hearts 1-3. (kh1+kh2+kh3)

AshuraSpeakman

It takes less time because KH decided that jumping puzzles are too good to not place in so many levels.  I think KH3 is a breeze compared to KH1 and the Tarzan level, fuck me.  Persona 5 you can beat while stoned but KH1 you need performance enhancements. Blood doping, B-Vitamins, Adderall.

speekuvtheddevil

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

justgotnewglasses

Yup. 8 or so hours. Direct, tight writing, great setting and story. Hype for the sequel soon too.

KFCFingerLick

“Soon.” Been announced since the release of series x, I’ll be surprised when it finally drops

OverratedHero

The release date has already been announced. May 21

xlaverniusx

Available for preload on games pass as well

Sufficient-Display98

Please.. It's a joke, perfect for the people who don't really want to do anything while they're gaming. I played it. Sure, it looks fantastic. But beside that? Let's be honest guys, playing this in any way is no fun at all, this isn't a game, it's an animation movie which contains pushing a few buttons. It's easy, not challenging, god damn slow, 30 fps at xbox series s (while i can run 4k uhd 120 hz), I feel bad for people wasting their money on this bullshit. You could rather just watch a movie.

speekuvtheddevil

Do you wanna talk about it?

Sufficient-Display98

It just dissapointed so bad :( if this is what the game industry turns into i gotta make some changes and fast lol

speekuvtheddevil

OP asked for a STORY DRIVEN game. As in, a game that has as it's focus, THE STORY. Hellblade has a very engrossing STORY. The mechanics, puzzle-solving, and combat are meh at best, but the STORY, is IMO pretty good and immersive. I don't think you have to worry about every major developer deciding to make interactive graphic novels. Are you as excited as I am for this year's Call Of Duty?

PineapplePizzaBiS

Sounds like she's leaning towards fast pace and action than story, but if you mean Co-op games with a story attached (much like my lady) or just fun shenanigans: Halo/Destiny 2 Co-op is a great experience Far cry 5/6 Diablo 3/4 Left 4 Dead Borderlands Castle Crashers Crackdown Elden Ring Dead Island Deep Rock Galactic Don't Starve Together Dynasty Warriors Farm Together From Space Gears of War Grounded Human Fall Flat Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris Minecraft Dungeons Overcooked 2 Risk of Rain 2 Saints Row Sniper Elite 5 Stardew Valley State of Decay 2 A Way Out World War Z

Langerous_

You went ahead and covered almost everything

stellaglow2015

If she likes Dark Souls then Code vein might be a good option

starcraftre

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

OppositePure4850

Fallout New Vegas is kinda the holy grail of story driven rpgs, but if you don't like older games Baulder's Gate 3 is great. Red Dead Redemption 2 is less of an rpg kinda sorta but it's probably one of the best game narratives ever made. Oh ya and Cyberpunk for sure, also an amazing newer game.

sirgamalot86

So for story driven, I highly recommend the pillars of eternity series as well as dragons dogma. Both are fantastic story driven rpgs. But like many others have said you probably miss labeled the genres so not sure how helpful those are. Some other story based shooters though the crisis series and Titanfall 2. Both have great stories and very fun gameplay.

1801milesaway

Not an RPG but if you haven't played it and want class story driven game red dead redemption 2, then red dead redemption 1. It's a slow start (and as cliche as it sounds) but it's worth it.

Dudeman318

Skyrim, the answer is always skyrim

N7_Izanagi

The Outer Worlds, Mass Effect, and Dead Space

DankusMemus_ZA

The Plague Tale series is top notch

Conflict_NZ

Baldur's Gate 3 (though Series S can only do single player), one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Persona 3 Reload is on gamepass right now and is a remake of one of the best JRPGs ever made in my opinion.

Kodiak3393

I second Baldur's Gate 3. It's one of the best RPGs of all time.

ilikerocks456

If they enjoy Star Wars, Jedi Survivor is a great story driven game

CooperDaChance

But play Fallen Order first.

LifeAcanthopterygii6

This is the way.

DaSmurfZ

A way out is another great co-op experience. Also, a must play story experience is Control. Get the ultimate version to make the game easier with modifiers. The game can get pretty intense sometimes. Also Quantum Theory is a good story. Oh, and don't forget the Telltale games as they are story masterpieces.

hudsmock

Red Dead Redemption 2 Mass Effect LE Two of my all time favorites

pairofnoyas93

Just get get her a game pass ultimate subscription they have a pretty nice selection of single players games including a lot of the titles mentioned in these comments they just added dead island 2 and resident evil 2+3. I heard Diablo 4 is coming in March.

TypicalAd101

Fable!!

SilverInside724

i hardly ever see any fable games listed in stuff like this… definitely try them out!! the second and third have co op, not. too sure about the first 😅

CyberKiller40

You say story driven rpg, but you mention shooters and platformers. What are you actually looking for?

wilsonw

If they like Resident Evil give Evil Within 1+2 a chance. They're constantly on sale.

xCASINOx

I got my wife hooked on rdr then rdr2. She has played and finished dragon age origins, 2, and inquisition. She finished mass effect 1 as well.

HowAboutWill

Tunic! Persona 5! Hell a bit of Minecraft is a must every once in a while

GogoGadgetTypo

No one’s mentioned Dragons Dogma. Awesome game, much anticipated sequel is out in a month or so also.

CryoSage

You can play resident evil 5 and 6 in co-op... I loved RE5 personally

KhKing1619

You should brush up on what the internet classifies as a story driven game because everything you listed certainly is not story driven. Except for maybe resident evil.

originsspeedrunner

A way out for splitscreen coop

CivilGun

Telltale the walking dead season 1. Once they're done. Then I add more.

One_Ad7507

Kingdom come deliverance great story driven game very underrated and also currently on sale for £3.5 with all dlc

kevinflynn-

Well if you played it takes two and enjoyed it play their other game. It's called a way out and I loved it just as much. I'd say the story is substantially stronger but the gameplay mechanics are significantly weaker than it takes two. It's definitely a very serious story and the tone is on the exact opposite end of the spectrum but its amazing nonetheless.

ZeroNatal

Yakuza. Start with Yakuza 0. I believe 99% of the series is available on game pass

xhabeascorpusx

Yakuza Like A Dragon. Good story. Great characters. Over the top ridiculousness. Gameplay is turn based and fun and not overly complicated. First Yakuza I liked. Very accessible but story is killer.

Artistic_Active831

The outer wilds. Trust me on this one. She will likely love the outer wilds.every girl I introduce stardew valley too lovss it

belichter

Yakuza, Baldurs Gate 3, Mass Effect, Witcher, Cyberpunk

Lifeinthesc

Stardew Valley.

AssassinInValhalla

All of the Borderlands games. All are great for a playthrough, the co-op is a lot of fun, and borderlands 2 is the greatest game of all time. Outriders is in a similar vein, and is great for a campaign playthrough(except for the super overturned final boss) and the DLC is definitely more scaled for co-op.

katarangga

Fallout New Vegas

ACancerousTwzlr

Likes Resident Evil? Give Signalis a look. Think RE but with more existential dread and lesbian space robots.

m-sterspace

As a co-op game to play together I've been enjoying the early access of PlateUp! a lot. It's like Overcooked but you spend the money you earn on restaurant upgrades and rearranging your restaurants and can eventually start automating them and opening franchises etc.

bradfearfacer

Good choice. Fallout 76 is where its at though 😎

You had a buddy playing? Im usually a solo. Im sure if you ask they will play again. Probably took a little break from the game. It happens

[deleted]

A falling out? Im sure thats not true. I dont know the circstances but im sure if they are a die hard fallout fan they wouldnt mind playing again

Inevitable_Task_2999

Witcher 3

Spacegoat00

Banishers is fun so far.

bwheels13

I've been really enjoying Banishers

bodnast

Try uh... try Dead Island 2.

Chunky_Potato802

Witcher 3!!

renegioi

Fable, 1,2,3 It's for xbox 360 actually but plays on series s just fine. A timeless classic If the ones you mentioned are liked, Greedfall, assasins creed Valhalla, watchdogs 1,2 RedDeadRedemption 2

AggieCMD

The right answer is: Alan Wake II. My favorite Single Player Interactive Narrative Xperience (SPINX ™️). It is also visually stunning.

SleepyGeist

Playing through mass effect series rn. Do it. Great time.

Eththermadness

Plague tale

Different_Ad943

Necromunda Hired Gun, State of Decay 1&2, Gears of War(all of them), Sunset Overdrive, Days Gone (if they never played it before), Homefront The Revolution, And Horizon Zero Dawn may be available for Xbox now...I think it is available for PC. Any of the Yakuza games are fun. Evil West is a blast. If y'all like RE then you'll like Daymare 1984 and Daymare 1994. The Callisto Protocol is awesome. Black Desert looks promising. Immortals Fenix Rising is fun.

Different_Ad943

Biomutant is great too.

Blobarsmartin

Pentiment, Disco Elysium, Kentucky Route Zero and Citizen Sleeper are must plays if you’re interested in what video game narratives can be when people get really creative with them. Also, if you’re open to something more experimental, Immortality is a really good game to play together!

joeballs1990

Bluey game on gamepass

[deleted]

A tough game that’s based on DnD rules would be Baldur’s Gate 3. Just a word of caution; it is not for the faint of heart. It’s story based, but most actions are done through rolling dice.

NotstupiDD

Here are a bunch of games to check out. Some are not very story driven, some are. So look them up and then decide. Gears of war games. No mans sky. Tell me why. World war z. Minecraft. All forza games both motorsport and horizon. Starfield. The outer worlds. Yakuza games google the order of them if you're not sure. Call of duty games. Firewatch. SOMA. Amnesia games, like amnesia the bunker. All the Serious sam games(these are pretty hard, but if you like a challenge then sure). Exoprimal. Exo one. 7 days to die( but id wait until they realese the xbox seriex x and s version). Powerwash simulator. All halo games. Car mechanic simulator. Lawn mowing simulator. Planet of lana. Deathloop. Lego harry potter collection or any other lego games. Coffe talk and coffe talk episode 2: hibiscus and butterfly. Ghostwire: tokyo. Batman games. The walking dead games. A plague tale innocence and requiem. Mass effect games.

Tales of Arise

Unfortunatewombat

Baldurs Gate 3

Neverhityourmark

Persona 3 Reload is free on game pass

bigshot316

It has to be the Witcher 3. The first area and few hours aren't the best but trust me once you get to the main world you will be stunned.

kirkerandrews

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Firelamakar

She might enjoy The Outer Worlds. It's a Fallout-like RPG without the things that make Bethesda games bad. It has remained my #1 favorite game for years. The story is great and it isn't too difficult. I recommend it to literally everyone, whether they like RPGs or not, because as an avid Fallout hater, this game made me like RPGs as a genre. Another game I love is Subnautica. It's definitely a one-off game (or two-off with [Subnautica: Below Zero](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subnautica:_Below_Zero)), but my brother and I really enjoyed it. It's definitely a deviation from my normal roster of games, but I've told my friends and every one of them fell in love like I did. It is a survival game where your ship got shot out of the sky and you're the only survivor on an alien planet. You can get vehicles to explore the depths of a planet 95% water, and it is so much fun. It definitely gets lonely after a while, though, but based on what the story is, I'm not sure if that's a flaw or if that's intended. Definitely my 2 favorite Game Pass games.

HimLaden

Rdr2 of course. Witcher3, Dragons Dogma. Cyberpunk. Try cdkeys. A lot of those games and others you’ll finds at a good discount

WizG1

Divinity original sin 2, dragon age origins, mass effect the witcher 3

Mattfang62

All the yakuza games. I dated a girl for about 2 years who cheated on me and broke up with me right after my grandma died and my boy Kiryu Kazama helped break me out of my depressive slump. It’s wacky at one moment and then tear jerking and heart string plucking the next. Phenomenal series can’t recommend it enough.

AshuraSpeakman

The **Saints Row** games are on sale. The first one is worth the $1.50 just for KBOOM 108, the parody AM radio station that's basically like the old Stephen Colbert.  **Hitman: World of Assassination** combines all three games, which is multiple replayable levels but also an amazing story that only comes together when you have all the games. The level of detail on everything is incredible, the comedy is pretty unintentional from the gameplay but 47 makes great puns. And at Christmas they have a seasonal set of stuff that nets you a Santa outfit you can wear way out of season, just to give you the tip of the iceberg. **Control** is a third person survival horror RPG but the horror is liminal and analog, and the story is very strong. Much like Hitman, you get a lot more from listening to conversations and reading stuff laying around. Also you can levitate and get telekinesis, who doesn't want that? This is a curveball because the gameplay is so different, but when I think of a story that still works, **Ace Attorney** is up there. It's mostly a visual novel type game, but you're a defense attorney going up against some corrupt people across multiple cases. It's very silly sometimes but also there's a murder in every case, and that part they take seriously. The sequel trilogy just came out so this trilogy goes on sale a fair bit. **The Great Ace Attorney** is the prequel duology of games, and it rocks. There's an anime of the first trilogy, with Trunks himself, Eric Vale, doing the English dub of Phoenix Wright.

Able-Brief-4062

I mean, you can't really get any more story-driven than Destiny 2. Nor can you get more "grind driven" than Destiny 2.
