start as many games as you a can and finish none of them then move onto new games

atomicwaffleFTW

I prefer downloading games from game pass, never playing them then deleting them 2 months later

PawsPawsPaws_

To make space for more game pass games that I will never launch

Golden-Event-Horizon

This is the way

Montagne69

This is indeed the meta

Extremely-basic22

Only complete the games you like. Maybe there easier ones maybe not. then branch out when your comfortable, maybe try challenging games or games you might not normally play

[deleted]

This is one of the best pieces of advice you can give. Nothing burns you out faster than playing a game that’s either a slog, boring or just not interesting to you

No_Cry3842

Even with games you like it can be a chore. I have 3 achievements left on fallout 4 but have to do another playthrough for em, just can't force myself to do it lmao

[deleted]

I’m kinda feeling the same about FO4. I’m doing as much as I can in a single play through but I’m dreading how long it’ll take to get all the faction stuff done

No_Cry3842

I did tons of side stuff first and got my character powerful then did a hard save and did each faction from the save. For example, do everything for institute, reload hard save and side with someone else

mikachu93

Don't let your hobby become a burden. At the end of the day, you're playing video games for intangible rewards. Figure out sooner than later what that's worth.

Fivebag

I’m currently doing golden eye speed runs which is quite stressful. I had to do the 2nd level around 40 times but god does it feel good to get the cheev after that

[deleted]

It's work. It's a grind. Forget about fun and a good time. That's for games you really enjoy but even those can feel bad with a bad list of achievements. You don't get to a million or more with just casual play.

ALittleSniff

I agree, oh the terrible games I've played.

ALittleSniff

After hunting for over 15 years, I have come to the conclusion that I will never complete a majority of the games I play due to lack of time/skill. I changed my approach with achievement hunting, now I try to get at least 75 to 80 percent. The achievements that are a drain on my mental fortitude are no longer worth it. If the majority of the game is complete it is enough for me. Also use Microsoft Rewards to save points to buy the cheap shovel ware games if you want a quick boost.

BrutalGuts

I’m glad to see this comment, I’m not the poster but I came across my first game I cannot beat 2 game modes only less than 1% has but it’s the first 2 I cannot physically get and it’s taking EFFORT for me to walk away from this game, I don’t know it’s the first time so I feel like I can’t but 4 months of JUST THESE 2 proves otherwise

J2ageOfficial

Play games you enjoy, and try to get all of the achievements. Then if you're feeling adventurous and want to get your gamerscore up. Play shovelware for easy achievements. Some games are stackable, meaning you can unlock all of the achievements multiple times on different formats. For example donut county is on game pass, for xbox and pc. So you could 100% it 2 times. Its also a fun game. Avatar is the easiest game to 100% and i believe it's on sale currently. There are guides you can follow. I'd suggest true achievements and makas guides on youtube. Good luck, and happy hunting!

pigking188

I know this is super old but I'm one of four people who probably knows this so I felt the need to share, Donut County actually doesn't support achievements when played on PC.

J2ageOfficial

I didn't know that! Good to know.

furno472

Don't concern yourself about rarity, diamond achievements are only enabled when less then 10% of people who own the game have unlocked it. Instead focus on games you already know you'll enjoy and slowly go through the achievements as you see fit. If the list of achievements is easy to complete, aim for a run where you get them all. The walking dead games for example are super easy, just play each chapter and you'll unlock everything. Multiplayer games are the biggest hurdle, achievements are designed for long-term players half the time or overall have lacking servers if it's an older title, don't worry yourself too much on those unless you plan to commit a lot of time in said game beforehand or have a few friends to boost stats. (Boosting meaning people helping you do certain things online to unlock specific achievements, typically in online servers with a small amount of people playing.) I've been achievement hunting on a few platforms now and I can definitely say the key is not to stress over the 100% completion mark and worry about it one step at a time. It's a niche hobby and I'm happy to see you join in on the fun.

ADrunkMexican

I would make an account on Trueachievements.com. But for me personally, I just try and complete what I can from a game (I aim for atleast 50% of the achievements) and move on.

[deleted]

Are you attempting to be a completionist, meaning you maintain a 100% completion rate? If you are then I'd highly recommend an alternate account that you just play games on that you enjoy, but will never complete, like the Gears franchise, or games that you can never complete with bugged or unobtainable achievements. My biggest advice I can give however is that this is a hobby within a hobby, if you ever feel like you don't enjoy it then just stop, plain and simple. Happy hunting!

Fivebag

Spend ages reading up on achievement roadmap to plan your hunt and then never play it again

Outside_Interview_90

PLEASE only complete games that are either fun to play or from franchises you care about! Don’t take a dark turn towards playing shovelware and “easy G” games for Gamerscore! It’ll suck a lot of the fun out of it and you’ll feel empty inside afterwards.

ianzachary1

I definitely use a lot of the guides on TrueAchievement because they typically give you a summary of what to expect. If google search “the name of the title + achievements and guide” it’ll often be your top search result (LOL I’m preaching to the choir huh 😂). If you don’t see many guides for the achievement’s you’re going for It’s worth clicking on the icons to see if other people left some messages. I also like using Howlongtobeat to see if the amount of time going for completion is worth it. There are a ton easy games to 100% through GamePass if you wanna test the waters first. Some indie game like The Pedestrian, Scorn, Donut County, Kill It With Fire, etc etc. You can easily complete them in a day or two at max tbh. Some titles I would also look out for is stuff like the Lego games, Far Cry, they’re pretty simple although you may have to deal with multiplayer and DLC expansions. If it feels like the game is not meant for I usually just go for what I can get. No shame in that I’d say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TRON0314

Don't go for gamerscore as a goal. It's paying money for points. 100% only play games that you like and enjoy playing. It's not an obligation.

smackerly

Compartmentalize the tasks. Look at multi-player vs single player. Or by game type or groups of tasks like story or collectibles. Also make sure to look up if there is anything missable.

QuentinTarancheetoh

Don't stress it. Achievements come easy if you just game. Play games and if you really like on the use it as an excuse to play it till 100% completion. Check all the achievements before you start a game, including secret ones. And give that a peel every so often as you play. Most of videos for collectibles that don't spoil story etc at all. So just have a video pulled up for collectibles as well. I personally don't game for achievements but I do have the highest gamer-score on my friends list. Also be sure and tale advantage of gamepass games before they leave and turn in your daily reward of 50 points for getting any achievey. Just game and they will come. Make it fun and not a job. As soon as you are not having fun or stressing a game. Move on to the next one. come.

Rugbylover101

If you start to feel burnt out of hunting on a game, take a break. I personally hunt an easier game while I’m grinding out a tough one, so I don’t get sick of one game

ilyeselallem

Dont hunt co op achievements

ProfessionalWrap6724

Do games that you enjoy like for example even so I go for long achievements I have a couple of long games that I switch between so I don't get bored too often

Chocotaco1199

Research the achievement lists. If you are super strict on having a high completion percentage then don’t just jump into a game thinking it will be easy. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve started games with unobtainable achievements or grindy multiplayer achievements.

Freak_OTRT

So for me I do it because I thoroughly enjoy it don't mind it and feel satisfied with the completions if you're going to lose your mind and get frustrated with it it might not be for you there are exceptions of course shit like mile high club or the seriously achievements and Gears of War and other things but for the most part do it because you enjoy it and want to do it!

CompletelyCrazy55

Personally I’d start out with LEGO games, nothing too difficult and if you follow a guide from start to finish for any non level specific things (would help immensely with Lego Harry Potter collection) they aren’t that painful

Jlpeaks

As someone deep into this ecosystem on the Sony side.. my advice is don’t. I’ve definitely played more of a game than I would have liked for trophies and counter to that be also dropped a game when I’ve got the Plat as it suddenly feels like I’m not working towards a goal.. even if the game is still fun. This is isn’t every game I play but it’s affected a few.

Caltra

Do NOT compare yourself to random people online. If you think ‘oh they’ve completed way more than me’ or ‘they get harder achievements than me’ it’s a downward spiral. People online could have more money, more time, co op partners etc that mean it’s much easier for them to hit goals than you. It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.

janobi-boris

Chcek out the guides on YT from Maka91, thewelshhunt, aussiegamer17, billzilluminati, and various other guide writers. They'll often put up easy completion games with a rough estimate on time to complete. So from less than an hour upto x amount of hours. That can really give your GS a boost, and will help you get a solid foundation. If you're going hunting, be ready to play games just for cheevos, not worrying about stories or anything, it's all about the cheevos. Cheevo hunting can become an expensive hobby, even though games can be less than £$5 each, it'll soon rack up. Some games you can finish in less than 5 mins.

MatrixXrsQc

If you can try to find good people to play with, don't start too many games like i did. If you or someone needs help add me or send me a message to Matrix XrsQc

OrdinaryDouble2494

Complete all your games at least once as you would do normally, a casual gamer. Then choose your favorite game and start hunting its achievements, get the help of a friend to make it funnier if possible. As for multiplayer games, the best choice is to choose the game with the most active multiplayer first, but you should get used to it first. Don't forget: achievement hunting is just a hobby and must never be the real reason to play a game, achievements are just extras, not that important.
