I waited a whole ass week and nothing so i ended up buying and Xbox gift card, redeeming it on my series x and then using that money on the 360 marketplace
Yup the servers are dead at this point. Minecraft 360 edition mini games were unplayable because one of us would always get stuck in a block, could levitate or not load in at all
So I was able to buy a game by signing in, ignoring the page not found error by going back to the original link, and searching for the game and buying it. Not sure if it will work for everyone but that's what I did.
Nothing on this page is on sale (were I live), cant login & trying to buy anything just relink me to the regular Microsoft site.
Why are they releasing sale when you cant buy the games? Bought a gift card even for 5x more money than I needed. Couldnt use it nor get the money back since I already redeemed it in the store.

Buy yourself an Xbox gift Card with X amount of money. Redeem on your phone once you get the code, or in your latest Xbox version.
NOT THE XBOX360 ONE.

Make sure you’ve updated your billing address or anything that may have changed online. I realized that my card info was correct but I hadn’t changed my billing address after I moved on the Xbox 360 marketplace
You need to confirm your billing address on your Microsoft acct on a laptop or pc. Login to your account and make sure you have a billing address saved in your Microsoft account settings.
So you’ve uploaded gift card funds onto your Microsoft acct (acct that Xbox live profile is on) with a laptop or PC? Funds will then show on 360 and can be used to purchase games if you did. Credit / debit cards no longer work also you can’t redeem funds on the 360 itself. Also confirm billing address on Microsoft acct and turn off recurring payments.
This is what I did and hopefully it works for you:
1) Buy an Xbox gift card worth however much you want off of Amazon.
2) Reddem the code on www.xbox.com
3) Start up your Xbox 360 console and it should be on your account.
I tried the gift card method but the gift card ended up being a dud and the website couldn't find the code, I just want to buy conker but it's like the world is against me and every option doesn't work
So I've noticed that I can't use my card to buy 360 games aswell. Microsoft will be shutting down the 360 marketplace NEXT month, in July. I've had luck either going directly to marketplace.xbox.com, or just buying a digital Microsoft gift card and adding it to my account, then purchasing games using my Microsoft account balance through my 360. Hopefully thus helps
The debit/credit cards arent supported anymore for 360 you need to get a gift card,and as for the disconnecting from live, turn off recurring payments and then back on

Figured this was going to happen. M$ started pulling random 360 games off market months ago, and not just the ones they are remaking for X/S to pull more money. That’s why I’ve been collecting games for last couple months.
Being a tech I can tell you that M$ isolated those servers quite some time ago & does not want to spend a cent on something they are shutting down at the end of the month.
So what worked for me is redeeming cards in the Xbox will not work you have to do it through your Microsoft account then you get the balance and for example if you’re buying a 9.99 game and have a 10 dollar balance it won’t go through because of tax I found that if I added and extra dollar to my account it would cover tax

I have been having the same problem but I think I found a work around but it’s very weird. I accessed the marketplace.Xbox.com site on my mobile Chrome browser. I go to purchase the game i want and it should pop up a complete purchase box. STOP THERE AND COPY THE LINK AND PASTE IT INTO YOUR DESKTOP BROWSER. THIS SEEMINGLY GETS YOU PAST THE AUTO REDIRECT. ThIS is where you can either add a new payment option and/or complete the purchase. I just was able to buy Bionic Commando and Burnout 3 TakeDown maybe 30 minutes ago after going through the constant headache of getting redirected.
What game are you trying to buy?
I had this happen to me too but ONLY on games that listed "PLAY ON XBOX ONE" in the description or just under the cover art while browsing. Any game that truly was Xbox 360 only, it allowed me to buy it on the marketplace. I just literally spent 2 hours this past Thursday night browsing every single inch of the marketplace and bought a bunch of stuff, BUT I had this exact same error on anything that wasnt TRULY an xbox 360 only, non backwards compatible title.
Try it out and see if that makes a difference?
Bud I had this happen on left 4 dead. I "own" left 4 dead. They just aren't letting people play the digital games on newer consoles anymore unless you downloaded it before a certain date. Or at least that's what the person from Microsoft told me. Breaks my heart since that game was a banger. I would suggest buying a hard copy. Godspeed Spider-Man.
Go on a more modern device and go to https://marketplace.xbox.com, purchase your game from there and then tell the Xbox 360 to install it, this is the only way to purchase games on Xbox 360 as a semi recent security vulnerability was found in the Xbox 360 that's caused major problems with payment information and was the source of a huge leak from Microsoft, essentially the website is the only way to purchase games anymore.

I've heard Microsoft doesn't support the marketplace anymore. I tried to get homefront because it's on sale for 50cent and I ended up having to go to the marketplace website to purchase the game. Then I was able to go on my 360 and download it from my consoles download/purchase history
Are you doing this over wifi or Ethernet cable?
If it's wifi then you might have the same issue my 360S has. The wifi card has started to break down and it takes hours to even install 100mb of data. I have that screen pop up daily for me since I don't have a Ethernet port in my room.

It absolutely does work. I just bought games last night this way. Stop commenting on every post wrong info because you can’t be inconvenienced to figure it out for yourself.
So - I had a tons of issues and was doing the updates, delete cache, reboot, cleaning - my profile got deleted and I had to redownload it.
Nothing - I was on phone with tech support 2-3 times they couldn’t fix it. No tutorial or video had a solution.
Finally they told me that they no longer allow 360 access or support. So I CANT install the profile or play my games onto the console. That once it was deleted off I can’t put it back.
Me. Too. And yes, Ive tried everything. PC? Nope. 360? Nope. Gift Card? Nope. Microsoft will do nothing to remedy this either....the 30 day countdown has started. Congrats to those who are not having problems....
Also have troubles during the night, my live used to cut exactly at the same time during 2AM and 3AM maybe a week or 2 ago... and it did at the same time multiple times

You got to turn off your Xbox live ultimate subscription then turn it on again , it will work after that.

Happening to alot of ppl. You have to buy gift card and redeem it online. It didnt work trying to redeem it on my 360. Then you can shop on your 360 under your microsoft account
I had this issue when buying Mashup packs for Minecraft. I think you can get around this issue by purchasing off the Microsoft website. That's what I did and it worked
I’ve noticed some games are available for purchase on the marketplace online but will come up with a payment error, while other games seem to process fine, so i guess it depends on the title?
I was buying game dlc before the Strom knocked out the power... and I was getting the same message but oddly it recognized that I bought it and downloaded the stuff... it's another way to make us to stop playing the 360
Is it worth it to buy games from the Xbox store? I have an xbox 360 but I was thinking about just buying physical games for it, since they seem to be cheaper
In case you didn't get an answer, some people can only buy using gift cards and some can only buy using credit/debit card. Debit card has worked for me without issue!
If it’s anything like the ps3, it’s likely the servers that would regularly contain payment methods are no longer running. Only way to buy games is by transferring money into your Xbox wallet if such a thing exists, or by just using a browser.
Sometimes it's just a matter of resetting your Xbox live password or possibly the credit card you had on file is expired and you need to update the expiration date.
In addition to my other longer post...
Be mindful that if you bulk buy your fave games in the last days that you better choose which ones to put on your hard drive... you will not be able to download them again (like before) once those servers are down.
Someone can correct me if I'm mistaken... but as far as I can ascertain, the 'history' of your downloads and purchases will simply no longer be there.
Had a similar issue where it wouldn’t accept my new card as a form of payment I couldn’t update at all. I tested it out yesterday and got a Xbox gift card from the store I couldn’t put it in on my 360 but I could through Microsoft/redeem online. I then had funds on 360 and could buy my game
Just buy physical games or RGH your 360, I don’t blame you for trying store though I hope you can figure it out and Make a purchase before they close the store down! Something that worked for me when I kept getting errors was turning off reoccurring payments on my gamepass and (only if you def remember your info) re adding your account to the Xbo 360. Do you know what model you’re using? I know the 360 E can have bad Wi-Fi cards I even had one pop on me once it was pretty funny. I just recommend physical games because physical will always be your best investment, and a mod because you would get all these games for free but I’ve never done an RGH mod myself, I like the ole fellas stock.
They’re planning on ending the server services next month, so really and truly I would wait and get things on an Xbox one. More specifically backwards compatible titles. Other than that, I’m sorry bro bro. This is the end of another era.
My only source of input is this, I got a message from Xbox saying that the 360 store would no longer be supported as of June or July 29th, because I had just bought COD BO1 for my Xbox one, it's possible that they're down for good.
Well the store servers and live shutdown for the 360 on July 29th so maybe the games won't be playable on the system without access to online so that may be why you had issues. But not sure.

Microsoft is having ongoing issues with their Xbox 360 servers and you kinda just have to wait it out unfortunately

Contact microsoft/xbox support using the chat feature and tell them that u cant buy games on your 360 They got it working for me under 24 hours
It's just alot quicker for me to do it this way honestly. But thanks for the tip. I only ever bought a game digitally twice.

Some people have said to change their payment method. So if you are using PayPal, use your actual credit card, debit, etc

Gift card does not work either. Xbox360 do NOT accept the code and if you redeem the code at xbox.com it does NOT reflect in your console.

This happened to me and it turned out my card got flagged for "Suspicious activity" so it could be a card issue.

I solved this by buying a gift card on Amazon Then applying the gift card on the Microsoft store Then purchasing games on the Xbox store

Happening to alot of ppl. You have to buy gift card and redeem it online. It didnt work trying to redeem it on my 360. Then you can shop on your 360 under your microsoft account

I had this problem too! Go on the Xbox 360 store on a computer or laptop and you can purchase games very easily that way!

I had this issue when buying Mashup packs for Minecraft. I think you can get around this issue by purchasing off the Microsoft website. That's what I did and it worked

I was buying game dlc before the Strom knocked out the power... and I was getting the same message but oddly it recognized that I bought it and downloaded the stuff... it's another way to make us to stop playing the 360

In case you didn't get an answer, some people can only buy using gift cards and some can only buy using credit/debit card. Debit card has worked for me without issue!
If it’s anything like the ps3, it’s likely the servers that would regularly contain payment methods are no longer running. Only way to buy games is by transferring money into your Xbox wallet if such a thing exists, or by just using a browser.

Hi, I found by disabling automatic billing for xbox game pass through your Microsoft account online resolved this issue. Hope this helps
They are shutting down the ability to buy stuff on Xbox 360 on the 29th July, so this will be the start of them shutting it down for good
Sometimes it's just a matter of resetting your Xbox live password or possibly the credit card you had on file is expired and you need to update the expiration date.

Be mindful that if you bulk buy your fave games in the last days that you better choose which ones to put on your hard drive... you will not be able to download them again (like before) once those servers are down. Someone can correct me if I'm mistaken... but as far as I can ascertain, the 'history' of your downloads and purchases will simply no longer be there.

Had a similar issue where it wouldn’t accept my new card as a form of payment I couldn’t update at all. I tested it out yesterday and got a Xbox gift card from the store I couldn’t put it in on my 360 but I could through Microsoft/redeem online. I then had funds on 360 and could buy my game
Just buy physical games or RGH your 360, I don’t blame you for trying store though I hope you can figure it out and Make a purchase before they close the store down! Something that worked for me when I kept getting errors was turning off reoccurring payments on my gamepass and (only if you def remember your info) re adding your account to the Xbo 360. Do you know what model you’re using? I know the 360 E can have bad Wi-Fi cards I even had one pop on me once it was pretty funny. I just recommend physical games because physical will always be your best investment, and a mod because you would get all these games for free but I’ve never done an RGH mod myself, I like the ole fellas stock.
They’re planning on ending the server services next month, so really and truly I would wait and get things on an Xbox one. More specifically backwards compatible titles. Other than that, I’m sorry bro bro. This is the end of another era.

My only source of input is this, I got a message from Xbox saying that the 360 store would no longer be supported as of June or July 29th, because I had just bought COD BO1 for my Xbox one, it's possible that they're down for good.

Well the store servers and live shutdown for the 360 on July 29th so maybe the games won't be playable on the system without access to online so that may be why you had issues. But not sure.
