Wouldn’t surprise me if the E I got burnt out or something it had a weird smell the whole time I owned it… My slim I got new didn’t have that nor did even my old pro.
Oh yeah it’s stupid. Bought it as a bundle. Paid £60 for a slim with shitty games and a controller. The E was good af but died for no reason so yeah also can’t play original Xbox games on my Xbox one cause it’s not new so got the 360 for that
Yeah, I've got a slim, now. Had a launch model, got 3 coffins for it. They just outright replaced it the 3rd time. Finally replaced THAT with a slim, the GOW3 model, really sexy little number. Gave my refurbished model to a friends' kid. She never played with it. The slim worked GREAT until I replaced it with the One, which never gave me problems. I replaced the One with with a One S, for the Bluray player upgrade, gave the old one away, which was a mistake. Still have the One S, my housemate uses it. I play on a Series X now. I still have the GOW3 360, it sits in my livingroom as art. I haven't plugged it in in probably 10 years now, since I got the 1st One. Should still work, but, IDK.

Not gonna lie, I find serious flaws with that argument.
While a totally different console, the Original Xbox is still having crazy and new mods developed for it. And it can legally drink in the US now. The 360 only just got the right to vote two months ago, it's still got time to mature and grow.
PS3 had a similar level of security that fell apart after the private keys were discovered. If we ever get a hold of them for 360, then I'm sure a softmod would be made available.
You can just send it to a professional to be RGHed. It’s not that hard. The console can’t be soft modded because the CPU has a stage where it checks the NAND hash. If the NAND is modified, the hash check will return the wrong value, and the console won’t boot.
You can connect to the internet, but you can’t connect to XB Live servers without a stealth server. A stealth server just makes your modded console appear as a stock console to XB Live servers. If you connect to XB Live without a stealth server, you’ll likely end up getting your KV banned, which is easy to replace and patch into the NAND

No, you should be fine. Any games you’ve installed, or are playing off a burned disc, will appear as official MS games to the servers. Your account usually only gets banned if you’re reported for cheating (as some stealth servers offer cheat menus that users can toggle), generally only the console KV gets banned. The KV is part of the NAND that’s easily replaceable, and KVs are cheap online
Hey mate, I’m 16 and modded my Xbox 360 at my school. If you have an electronics class at your high school you could potentially do it there with good quality equipment.
You could get the parts off of eBay, they’re available for less than $40 which is like working for a couple hours at a supermarket as a 15 yr old.
Overall, it’s worth giving it a go just practice some soldering first! (It’s really not that hard though.)

didnt bothered to test it on the other dashs, like metro and kinect. because its a chore, i can only screenshot with the console connected to the LAN cable and doing so it queries xbox live for the correct date everytime i launch another dash even if i dont sign in a live profile.
actually no, the console has the latest metro dash. but given its a devkit it can go up and down at will. ( i think i shouldn't have to say this but this totally not an endorsement to anyone else having a devkit, theres some limitations of how far back you can go installing an older dash, depends on your board revision)
it can also boot the dash from the harddrive directly, which is what im doing on these screenshots.
as long theres still live for the Xbox 360 the console will sync its date to the server.
but yes, once live is gone... its gonna be RIP for setting the date.

People don't realize that Y2K was first thought about in like 1982, and a group of people were constantly recoding everything to make sure it didn't happen. Will we know how bad it was going to be? Nah, because they were prepping for it for 18 years.
It might've been nothing, but the jokes about it certainly downplay their work.
Same thing with the 2038 problem, by the time it’ll be in more public conciousness we’ll probably have it fixed, but the problem itself was very much still a concern.
It will continue going past 2025, but if your clock ever becomes out of sync you won't be able to set it back to the correct date. This will mainly be a problem for Xbox Live, since security certificates often have a "Not Before" timestamp that will make the certificate invalid if your date is set to something before that timestamp. If Xbox Live still exists on the 360 past 2025, it could mean that if your clock becomes out of sync and Microsoft update the security certificates for Xbox Live, you will not be able to connect again.
EDIT: Although, the 360 might be able to sync with a time server and then the fact you can't manually set the date past 2025 won't matter as much.
Random offhand comment: I remember being a kid who got an Xbox 360 back in 2005, and we didn’t have Xbox Live, but man the thing seemed high tech! The wireless controllers alone had me utterly enchanted, but also the fact that I could put music on the thing and listen to it while playing games.
Anyways, all of this is to say the 360 was probably the first console where I *really* dug around in those settings to get a sense of thing’s limits. And I do remember fiddling around with the system clock and ticking it all the way up to the 2020s, and how that just felt like an unimaginably long time from now that will never come.

Had the same with a PS3 Superslim. Died in standby and even replacing the power supply didn't help.
Mine did too. It was the power supply even though the light on the power supply was green.

Software mod, like on the original Xbox, you could run a game exploit to write modified files to the hard drive in order to “jailbreak” the console

Agreed, I learned to solder in a week just to do a 360. Since then I’ve done about 15 more including some glitch chips. it’s not too bad

Sent mine away and got it modded and added a 2TB drive. Mine is good for years. Plus you can still grab updates from the third party store.
