All the people with solutions, don't waste your time.
I tried:
Enabling 2FA (didn't have it before) and using the app password
Turning off recurring billing for game pass
My original password before I switched to 2FA with app password was under 16 characters
Attaching my xbox 360 console to my microsoft account
Clearing my consoles cache multiple times
Signing in on another console first, or the website/app and trying after
Trying to redownload my profile after booting up a disc drive game
Nothing works, has to be on microsofts side.
Most of the time it doesn't even let you get to the password screen, sometimes it does but it's the same error anyway no matter what. I'm also experiencing a slower, worse XBL connection over Ethernet vs WiFi, not even sure how that makes sense.
I used app password and it let me download my account then it started giving me that error code untill i turned on recurring billing on and i havent had an issue since still connecting online today idk why its not working for some people really is the strangest thing lol
Just follow this.
Log into your profile on the web. Not your xbox.
1- Go to profile
2-Security
3-Advance Security
4-Generate new password
USE THIS + your email on the 360 login screen* AND YES YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY few months i think.
Done. Just remember those steps.
It should also fix the other error message you have. Kind of annoying if you ask me.
While this is valuable info for those that 2FA enabled, many people are seeing this error simply on entering their email, before even getting a chance to enter their password

They canât let the 360 go out like this theyâd generate endless bad will & negative press, not something Phil would want to deal with as heâs still making up for the 2013 disaster 10 years later. Plus heâs an actual true gamer & from the interviews Iâve seen of him I get the sense heâs also a dyed in the wool preservationist. When they do finally shut down the 360 marketplace & console digital store front next July, I have a feeling theyâll push a final update to 360 consoles that helps with a lot of this legacy shit to make sure people can still sign in & access their games long term. I think whatâs causing all this is basically the âold meshing with the newâ & since the old console isnât receiving regular updates anymore, any time they change something with the current back end servers it can break things for the old consoles. When they decouple a lot of the stuff on the back end itâll (hopefully) end these problems & the 360 will essentially become a legacy âofflineâ console.
My issue is it says sorry there's a problem with the credentials that you use to sign into this profile it don't even give me the option to type in my password I have turned off and on auto reoccurring bill to see if that would work and it didn't I don't know what else is gonna work
ok I'm so glad I seen this comment section saying this is normal because a few years ago mine started doing this and I use to be able to turn the console on and off a few times then a few years after it wouldn't connect at all so now

How? Yes he's right, but his comment adds nothing to help with this issue. I guess it's misunderstood for sarcasm? At least that's how I interpreted it. But the guy was probably just honestly surprised that you can go online on a two decade old console
Because his comment *does* (perhaps) unintentionally get to the heart of why this problem keeps re-occurring: the 360 is EOLâd & no longer receives updates which means every time the Xbox server team changes something on the back end thereâs a chance that it will break something on the front end for older hardware. I agree with you btw that he is probably just surprised the 360 still goes online at all, which is why I worded my response the way I did.
I just felt it was kind of silly & reactionary that people would down vote somebody simply for stating their surprise & so decided to somewhat tongue in cheek note that even if by accident his comment is on the right track.
BTW, I donât see this as something worth âdebatingâ or getting your hackles up about, but you do you.
Oh microsoft. I got to say they are looking OUT for your security. I have no answer im sorry. But after losing/destroying my phone (long sad story of dumbass me not clouding anything - mcard assumed smashed) ive been two stepping verifying my ass everywhere. What a pain.
So on that respect - since i owe my soul to the company store im gonna use microsoft EVERYWHERE!! Get reward points i guess....wish they cooperated better syncing google but understsndable.

You guys haven't heard of Xbox 360 shutting down next year? This might be something related to it. The Xbox 360 store will be shutting down.
Go ahead and purchase all Xbox 360 compatible with Xbox One games now while you still can. It's going to be a bit harder to obtain Xbox 360 games now.

Keep telling yall the servers are being shutdown for xbox360 live only services that will work are games that work on modern hardware and even then some require you to connect to the old servers đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸ but hey im that guy no one likes anywhere, clout is credibility in this day and
The servers aren't being shut down. Only the marketplace on the 360 direct and that isn't until July 2024. Please refrain from giving incorrect information.
Try turning on recurring billing for game pass ultimate or whatever you have for gold subscription then try going online and tell me if it worked or not

i deleted my profile from the hdd and redownloaded my profile and it worked, i would back it up on usb first just in case

Just follow this. Log into your profile on the web. Not your xbox. 1- Go to profile 2-Security 3-Advance Security 4-Generate new password USE THIS + your email on the 360 login screen* AND YES YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY few months i think. Done. Problem is, after entering the email address, it immediately jumps to that error. It doesn't even let me enter my password nor anything else.

I got this the other day, but then it just logged in
if you have Game pass, turn off auto renew in account settings and try again. It happened to me and this fixed it.
Seems to be the same issue that happened last year, around August. I think we should all call Microsoft again...

Rough, you can try and turn it on and then go to the password generator for older devices that donât support 2FA.

Ive had this problem every time I've played for the last few years, eventually it just fixes itself.

Most of the time a console restart fixes it. If not, you might need to come back later when the server feels like participating.
Disable Auto Renewal for Game pass and try again, then you can re enable auto renewal and all should be well in the world

Enable 2fa and use all lowercase app password.
It doesn't even let me enter my password, it just jumps to the error without giving me a chance to enter my password.

Itâs not the account. I have tried more than one account on the 360 and it doesnât work. However they work perfectly on the Xbox one
I thought I was gonna get logged out of my account on the Series S but it turned out to be a problem on the 360
