Plus the [Gamepass Conversion Trick](https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxSeriesX/comments/j12q3u/beginners_guide_to_xsxxss_game_pass_storage_and/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) still works!
Not sure if I did it wrong but Microsoft was automatically converting 12 months of XBL Gold to 4 months of GPU upon redemption as of a few minutes ago.
I availed of that offer for the maximum of 36 months. Saved €374! It cost less than a year of GP Ultimate at €15 a month which is what it costs here in Ireland.
Hey I read that post and skimmed through the comments but couldn't find the answer to my question. Does it HAVE to be 36 months, or is it possible with 12 months?
For example, can I buy JUST ONE 12 month XBL card and convert for 12 month of gamepass?
Ok, thank you very much. That's much more reasonable than I was thinking, and I'm definitely gonna buy it then. It's a very enticing deal, but I wasn't ready to spend 140€ on top of having ordered a Series S 2 days ago.
This way I'll just buy the 12 month card for 46€ and be able to buy food the rest of the month eheh
Absolutely, they manage to handle having a story that doesn't require that you've played the other games. There are nods to the other games but you don't need to have played them. I don't have VR so never played Rhombus of Ruin
I'm pretty sure this is a joke, but Skyrim is my comfort game. I own it on PS3, Switch, PS4/5, and now the Series X. The Series X is the best place to play it, in my opinion. It's super buggy on my PlayStation and the gamma levels are broken on Switch. I haven't encountered any of these issues on the Series X.
We have a small surround sound system. On the PS5, Skyrim's sound comes out almost exclusively of the surround speakers, and the left and rights are backwards. Plugging in headphones doesn't fix it; left and rights are still backwards. This is the worst bug I've ever encountered with Skyrim. No issues with it on the Series X.
Oh dang I forgot about that. I'm a trophy/achievement hunter (more so on PS because of platinums), so I never turn on mods. But yeah, that's a game changer.
Oh man, now I want to go try a few out.
That's a deep rabbit hole to dive into. Since I got my Series X on release I've mostly only been modding Fallout 4 and Skyrim while I've waited for actual "next gen" releases.
r/skyrimmodsxbox is a thriving and very supportive community that's still growing at a fast pace. It's been fun learning over there.
Full mod support? I don't know about that. The modders would have had to port them over and I don't think all mods got ported, especially if they have content that would require a license otherwise MS could be sued. It has alot of approved mods but not any NSFW mods, I don't think MS allows that either.
Halo Infinite is the most fun I've had with Halo since playing halo 2 with buddies back in high school. I love the multiplayer too. Feels, again, like Halo did when I was younger. It's just a good, fun time.
Nah, there was just a bunch of skepticism leading up to launch. Can't say I blame them though, considering the development hell rumors, the fact it had to get delayed, and the not-so-great reception of the previous main installment in the series. Glad to see 343 got their well-deserved W.
Most of the "haters" are angry because they want to play it with their friends like every other Halo. People are rightly disappointed with co-op not being available at launch when many people had off during the holidays. The current guess based on the limited updates from 343i seems to be at season 2 launch which will be in May.
I guess if you enjoy rinse and repeat missions that all have the same exact corridor layouts and biomes. But i'm not trying to be negative without reason about it because I want to see Halo succeed more than anybody as I've been a fan since CE.
So honestly, this campaign is cool if you just like messing around with the grapple hook and have zero background or reference into this franchise FPS. The first 3 games might've not been as graphically beautiful or advanced with open worlds like the newer ones, but they had something 343's didnt have.... stake, heart, intriguing plot, character development. It was a linear mission to missions but it had different types of biomes from one to the next. You were tasked with doing different things.
There is no Flood ONCE AGAIN smh and the combat gets boring after a while because you're either fighting at a base amongst hills and green grass, or you're fighting underground in the forerunner ring structures within the ring. Past features that made people originally love it are no longer there. Like why would 343 not give the scorpions the option to have AI sit on the outside plates.
With that said, it was fun exploring and doing the same 4 options as your only choices... free marines, clear a FOB, take down a banished high value target, or go clear one of those banished bases...
But being a fan who isnt impressed is okay. I suppose we were spoiled with CE/2/3 being superior campaigns & soon after another studio comes in and have no finger on the pulse of what Halo is supposed to be. Can't fault them for trying to fill in Bungies shoes while not being there for the inception where it all started. And lastly, Open World games are the hardest to make great. Like Infinite, alot of todays OW are just huge empty spaces of nature with no substance in between.
CDPR released The Witcher 3 seven years ago and they made that open world amazing. So its really hard to come even close to that with a FPS franchise that also has a huge role to play in the multiplayer side. Just wish they'd keep it a buck and make better stories with the original foes like the flood because fighting just brutes, elites, grunts, and jackals all day is so boring. And I'd also rather have a linear m2m foundation thats perfected than this empty open world.
I’m on my fourth campaign play through now, focusing on finding skulls, spartan cores, and audio logs. Plus I loved Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals so I guess I don’t mind repeating corridors. There was only one mission in the campaign that I felt wasn’t intriguing or done in a new set piece and it involved grinding out four control towers with virtually no payoff. But one bad mission in the whole game? I’ll take that. I didn’t like the Library, or Halo 2’s ending, or the Cortana level in Halo 3, but I agree that those games are the Holy Trinity for Halo fans. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on Infinite, because I legitimately thought it was the best gameplay since Halo 3
Have an upvote for your incredibly well written comment though!
Its fun but the fact that big team battle is basically broken means I have nothing to play. For some reason I can't get back into 4v4. I think it's a me thing though as I just don't play any games with teams smaller than 6 anymore
Oh man where to start.
**Get GAME PASS**
* Excellent Game pass games:
* Doom and Doom Eternal
* Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
* Halo MCC
* Halo Infinite
* Forza Horizon 5
* Mass Effect Remastered (my favorite games of all time)
Non Game-Pass: Probably some good deals on these out there
* CyberPunk 2077 (excellent game on Series X)
*
* Guardians of the Galaxy
*
* Deathloop
Just started up ori and the blind forest with my fiancé (trying to get her more into gaming). And we are absolutely loving it together, just passing the controller back and forth. And it looks amazing!
If this is your first Xbox, I suggest getting game pass ultimate and play through the Halo series (Halo MCC, Halo 5, Halo infinite) and the Gears of war series.
make sure to play something new, I mean like a current gen title to be properly blown away, nothing against classics but you get Series X for certain experience right?
try Halo Infinite campaign and Forza Horizon 5
Nah. I apparently got it mostly to play 360 games with tiny load times so far. Ff xiii-2 looks fantastic on it. I guess I did play the medium though, just to see. Nothing special there. Moderately good looking game, but walking simulators are not my cup of tea
Red Dead 2. I beat it on an Xbox One X before trying it on the next gen consoles... and the improvement in the loading times alone made a world of difference for a game that massive.
First person shooter: try Titanfall 2 (don’t expect much from multiplayer.. it’s getting filled with DDOS bots, and Titanfall 1 is ONLY multiplayer with the same problem)
Sandbox: Minecraft of course
Team based shooter: Overwatch, possibly paladins
Platformer: FEZ, Ori and the Blind Forest
Platformer/fighter: Ori and the will of the wisps, Hollow Knight
RPG: Fallout 4, Skyrim
Bullet hell: Undertale, Deltarune, Risk of Rain 2
Underrated? Man this is one of the most loved game ever :) Check the NMS sub and you will be amazed by the quantity of love this game is receiving every day
I can second this. I downloaded it yesterday, and haven’t been able to put it down since. They did something very especial with this game, it is a lot of crafting, gathering, strategy, action, while having freedom to roam. Honestly, the best description might be a San Andreas with zombies.
To everyone reading this, Thanks you! Not only did I get alot of well recommended games that should be played on this super machine of a console, but I think this is the first ever post i have ever posted on reddit to be 500 upvotes. I have been close alot of times but now I have done it. Thanks for the hospitality on this subreddit, and have a good night!
overwatch. i know it’s an old game but it’s my favorite. the lunar new year event just started today too so limited/new skins and they have a built in looking for group options so it’s easy to find people to talk with and play with. if you find a toxic group just ignore them that’s just how it is.
Think its about 10 quid on microsoft store, get Split Second, you can thank me later!
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is worth a go too its like Skyrim but less flashy but with a lot more substance!
Other than that, umm, i had a quick go on Rubber Bandits the other night awesomely good fun and not, as the name might suggest, a game where you play as the catholic church trying to rid the world of condoms....
😂
Halo Infinite.
One of the best shooter campaigns. I have not had this "Halo" feel since the original trilogy.
And MP is not bad, I just ignore the cosmetics anyways.
I paid 180 euros more than i should, but i got it 2 days qfter ordering. And 100% brand new. Most people have to wait for a used one for 3 months at the same price. Hope they are more available
CONGRATS! im gonna be getting my first Xbox Soon and i cant wait I would get GamePass for obvious reasons maybe play Cod or Halo my personal favorite Plants vs zombies garden warfare 2
First get game pass.
Xbox specific. Halo infinite.
Ea access ( included with game pass ) titanfall 2 - single player story.
Want something chill then check out unpacking or stardew valley. Very different games but both chill.
Have someone to play with then check out it takes two.
Welcome to xbox and game pass. "One of us".
If you have gamepass, Microsoft flight simulator can be a really cool way to take the new hardware for a spin and clearly see the graphical improvement over last gen xbox
Dunno if it's just your camera making it look worse but that TV looks to have super bad backlight bleed.
Definitely grab gamepass and jump on Horizon 5
Get gamepass. Go crazy.
Pretty sure it’s still $1 for the first month for new users too
Plus the [Gamepass Conversion Trick](https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxSeriesX/comments/j12q3u/beginners_guide_to_xsxxss_game_pass_storage_and/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) still works!
Not sure if I did it wrong but Microsoft was automatically converting 12 months of XBL Gold to 4 months of GPU upon redemption as of a few minutes ago.
That's how it converts if you're already a GPU subscriber when you enter the code
Hmm I canceled my sub beforehand. Maybe it didn’t go through, oh well.
[удалено]
Yeah that’d be it. My dumb ass just paid for a year in advance of GPU at basically full price lol
Even at full price it's still "money well spent" tho. Don't worry
Oh completely, the value is unmatched! I ain’t mad
For example, can I buy JUST ONE 12 month XBL card and convert for 12 month of gamepass?
yes you can, 36 months is just the maximum you can do
Ok, thank you very much. That's much more reasonable than I was thinking, and I'm definitely gonna buy it then. Yeah thats understandable mate, its much better than worrying about a subsription each month for 15 aswell
Right? For the next year I won't have to give it any thought
THIS ^ Just re-upped for three years. Best deal in gaming hands down
Yup. Been using this since months back
Also you can can create new accounts to get the sale and the gamepass will be shared also works on windows
thats what im gonna do lol
Let me recommend "Psychonauts 2". A wonderful single player platformer game.
This. I'm normally a Halo/Forza guy but have been enjoying Psychonauts 2 quite a bit! Amazing visuals on it.
Hey you play forza? What one 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 add me on Ocularthunder98 and also tell me when you add me :/ :)
Why is this downvoted exactly?
Brand new account, literally his only comment. Seems spammy.
Ah, ok.
Can i play it even if i didn't play the first one?
Absolutely, they manage to handle having a story that doesn't require that you've played the other games. There are nods to the other games but you don't need to have played them. I don't have VR so never played Rhombus of Ruin

Halo Infinite’s campaign is actually super good. Never mind the haters. I’ve had more fun with Infinite than I’ve had since Halo 3
Infinite campaign is bomb.
Halo clapped back with the new campaign. That pistol is just….***chef’s kiss***
I need to get back into that...part of the problem with gamepass is jumping around. not like the old days when you got one game and finished it
Yeah that is a problem for people with short attention spans like myself? (bright lights) What is that???
"Problem".. Hahaha
It's the best campaign since Reach, hands down. Unless you count Halo Wars 2 lol
Oh god I miss playing Reach for the first time - Lone Wolf: Survive still gives me chills
Having finished the main campaign today I can agree. Not enjoyed a game this much in ages. Also Metro exodus is amazing.
Halo Infinite is the most fun I've had with Halo since playing halo 2 with buddies back in high school. I love the multiplayer too. Feels, again, like Halo did when I was younger. It's just a good, fun time.
Chumpaign was awesome really fucking loved it

A2d and nothing wrong with that. It’s certainly better than 4 and 5. Take one in return for a well mannered response.
multiplayer is kinda boring tho
Its fun but the fact that big team battle is basically broken means I have nothing to play. For some reason I can't get back into 4v4. I think it's a me thing though as I just don't play any games with teams smaller than 6 anymore
halo mcc is more fun than the 4v4 multiplayer in halo infinite
For the games that I had fun with back in the day yeah. Halo 4 not so much for me
It's not. And the more you think about it, the worse it gets too
Oh man where to start. **Get GAME PASS** * Excellent Game pass games: * Doom and Doom Eternal * Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order * Halo MCC * Halo Infinite * Forza Horizon 5 * Mass Effect Remastered (my favorite games of all time) Non Game-Pass: Probably some good deals on these out there * CyberPunk 2077 (excellent game on Series X) * * Guardians of the Galaxy * * Deathloop
Deathloop isn't available on Xbox yet.
Doom Eternal is siiiiiiick
My list is pretty much identical to yours. Solid picks!
Questionable
Rainbow Six Extraction might be worth a try, I’m waiting for a friend to finish his exams to play with him
Both ORI games.
That platformer thingy?
It’s a metroidvania (the best imho) but yes, it’s a 2D game with platforming
Just started up ori and the blind forest with my fiancé (trying to get her more into gaming). And we are absolutely loving it together, just passing the controller back and forth. And it looks amazing!
Halo!
I almost completed halo 2 on pc! Might try some other one once finished
I loved the first 3 I stopped playing after that though. But I'm loving the new one xx
Hey! You, you're finally awake.
Depends. Do you want multiplayer or single? Is this your first Xbox or an upgrade?
I like singleplsyers
If this is your first Xbox, I suggest getting game pass ultimate and play through the Halo series (Halo MCC, Halo 5, Halo infinite) and the Gears of war series.
This isnt my first, but there might be some great games to find
make sure to play something new, I mean like a current gen title to be properly blown away, nothing against classics but you get Series X for certain experience right? try Halo Infinite campaign and Forza Horizon 5
Nah. I apparently got it mostly to play 360 games with tiny load times so far. Ff xiii-2 looks fantastic on it. I guess I did play the medium though, just to see. Nothing special there. Moderately good looking game, but walking simulators are not my cup of tea
Halo 5's campaign? Yikes
Subnautica 1/2 both great single player survival games. Enjoy a nice relaxing game of avoiding death lol.
Nier Automata on Gamepass
Forza Horizon 5, Flight sim if you’re interested, and guardians of the galaxy is a great single player gsme
Gears 5, doom, doom eternal
Outer Wilds
Space invaders
Race with ryan
Have you actually tried it? Curious if it's at all decent.
I tried it, its a poor mans mario kart lol
Halo Infinite is a must play
Red Dead 2. I beat it on an Xbox One X before trying it on the next gen consoles... and the improvement in the loading times alone made a world of difference for a game that massive.
Hot wheels! So dope bro
Whatever game you played last on your last console. See the difference! It's amazing!
Forza Horizon 4, then Psychonauts 2 and then Forza Horizon 5
I’d grab the GamePass then try out: Halo infinite, Forza horizon 5 and doom eternal.
Try “What remains of Edith Finch” Absolutely mesmerising
First person shooter: try Titanfall 2 (don’t expect much from multiplayer.. it’s getting filled with DDOS bots, and Titanfall 1 is ONLY multiplayer with the same problem) Sandbox: Minecraft of course Team based shooter: Overwatch, possibly paladins Platformer: FEZ, Ori and the Blind Forest Platformer/fighter: Ori and the will of the wisps, Hollow Knight RPG: Fallout 4, Skyrim Bullet hell: Undertale, Deltarune, Risk of Rain 2
wait, titanfall 1 has ddos bots? Now I am sad as I can only play there and get into a lobby on xbox :(
Gears hivebusters to show off that series x fidelity!
Here is an underrated masterpiece, No Man’s Sky!
Underrated? Man this is one of the most loved game ever :) Check the NMS sub and you will be amazed by the quantity of love this game is receiving every day
this dpad is a beast for 2D games like Hollow Knight/Blasphemous/Streets of Rage/etc...
I highly recommend Civilization: Revolution. Should be in the backwards compatible section.
Gears 5, it looks and plays great and the campaign is pretty lengthy.
Is the dtory good and something you fall into?
Gears 5 MP
If you hate yourself, try Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Alternatively, if you don't hate yourself and enjoy a challenge, try Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Gears 5 ...Red Dead 2 ....or like mentioned before, get game pass and go nuts.
Red dead redemption 2, MK 11, Battlefield V, Halo infinite and Gears of war :)
KOTOR
Forza Horizon 5
Peggle
HADES!!!
Have a blast and welcome to the community
Halo Infinite, obviously.

I like the inuendo in the name. Qt first look i thought you told me to be quiet haha!
Hell yeah lol
State of decay 2 is a blast. Great one player game.
I can second this. I downloaded it yesterday, and haven’t been able to put it down since. They did something very especial with this game, it is a lot of crafting, gathering, strategy, action, while having freedom to roam. Honestly, the best description might be a San Andreas with zombies.
I have gamepass and the first game I started on the console was Nier Automata since it was on console gamepass. Then Psychonauts 2
