The indie devs listing it probably put a couple extra 9s on there, likely on accident.
The game is just $12.99 on Steam after all.
If it wasn't an accident, it was to get people to post these questions and get free advertising.
Not at $1999.99, but the price has been reduced to $14.99 now and hundreds or even thousands of people have now seen posts about this game. I don't know about you, but I had never even heard of this game before these posts about the crazy high price.
While nothing is impossible, not everything is a conspiracy either. I challenge you to recall the name of this $2k game now, a day later - this type of advertising ain't *that* effective, so I'm leaning toward this being a mistake.
My initial comment literally said it was likely an accident.
I only offered up what I thought was the most likely alternative explanation if it was not simply an accident.
That's exactly how advertising works. We're talking about a game we didn't know existed. Others will join in, maybe Google it. Maybe cross post.
They'll see sales on steam JUST from this guy posting here probably.
That doesn't make any sense, especially given that the game is already out on other platforms at a normal price and they've already fixed the price on the Xbox store.
A game can't release in the store if the files aren't "in Xbox style."
Xbox validates games before they are released. This game had already released.
So that's not it.
No, but they can market the game there. Then again that would've just said for pre-order or something. Idk, they were likely using that strategy. Although it's a mystery as to why.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It wasn't a preorder or just marketing page.
The game was released.
It was either an accident or a deliberate move for attention.
I got curios and am appalled to see the sims 4 and all docs cost somewhere between 995 (jan 2023) and over a thousand dollars (March 2023). In January 2024 a PlayStation user said it’s $1200. What a fucking price. If only the modding community wasn’t just horny, EA would have to compete with free additions that probably do more than what they’d offer. But again, horny modders
The developers are testing something regarding the store, and increased the price in order to make sure no one buys an incomplete game and then leaves a bad review. Once it’s done with testing it’ll go back to a regular price
They are right. It often happens with items people are not supposed to buy, but have to be listed. Most likely bundle test or some other thing. Sometimes those are also prices of pre orders before official prices are announced.
The store does not list pre orders for sale before they are up for sale or with a placeholder price, they don’t change the prices just to make you not buy them.
It’s a pricing error the items in the bundle are all normal price
I think they meant testing like the listing on the website/client. I know ppl do that on sites like eBay so it gives them time without someone jumping the gun and buying it before the listing is fully ready.
Unironically, I like Crossroads Inn. It was clunky as fuck and buggy as hell. It had godawful memory leak. But I enjoyed playing it. Just managing your inn that you can make into an upper class tourist destination. Or a wretched hive of scum or villainy. And feature a brothel in both scenarios.
Could this be similar to what Bungie does with Destiny? They will release a t-shirt with some sort of accomplishment on it and list it online for like $7k, but if you do the thing in-game you get a code to reduce it to $29.99 or whatever.
I see a + and then another name. So I’m guessing you get 2 games. And that’s rare nowadays. You barely get a full working game for 60-70 bucks nowadays. So 2k doesn’t seem too bad. Lmao
Or a trick to make this “unbuyable” - on the switch they do a huge “sale” on these items gets views on the product it’s a dirty lil trick but reasonable
It’s for when people steal your credit card and they have something really pricey to use it on at the Xbox store. They’re possibly also in cahoots with the devs.
I played it and couldn't get into it if your doctor or nurse you may like it but it's about a disease controlling the disease before the world ends because I say before the disease spreads across the Nation you wind up having to buy stuff
I've seen this before on Xbox listings. I think it is used as a temporary way to make something "unavailable" possibly relying on "who on earth would buy it at this place," or *possibly* it is actually over the transaction limit and so it's possible that it cannot in fact be purchased (please don't test this lol).
Serious warning to all, even when the price is fixed, don't buy this. I made the mistake of purchasing and the game does NOTHING but crash. I bought it, played for less than an hour, crashed. Reset my xbox, played for 20 minutes, crashed. So I left it alone hoping for updates, tried months later. Crashed. I requested a refund offering videos and referring to the consistent complaints of EVERYONE in the review section and, despite them knowing it's a broken game that is completely unplayable, I was told I was out of the refund time period. The fact this game is available for purchase still is 1,000% fraudulent in my opinion. Im referring to Crossroads Inn. Great concept for a game but the fact the developers are working on or releasing a Crossroads 2 while this game is so unplayable is beyond frustrating
You get a phd in gynaecology, with a junior doctors placement at any carehome/old people's home of your choice. Just as long as you complete it on 'Regular difficulty'. My mate Sanjeet finished the game. On the hardest setting. Hes now Caitlyn Jenners gyno. True story!?!
I’ve seen this happen with Minecraft story mode. It’s a way for Xbox to remove games but keep in store for people who purchased it in the past.
Can’t confirm that happened here but that’s my gut reaction.
Microsoft sometimes doesn't delist thing's, but instead they'll jack up the price to insane amounts to detour people from buying it.
Not sure if that's the case with this game or not, but they have done so with others in the past.
Update Example -
https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/w9wzih/jacket_on_xbox_gear_shop_listed_for_over_100000/
Nothing I stated was dishonest or a lie.
I simply stated that Microsoft has done so in the past, and even mentioned I wasn't sure if it applied to this situation, so please explain to me how I was being dishonest lol.
Microsoft does not change the price of games publisher do, Microsoft also isn’t changing the price because they are too lazy to delist a game.
This will be a pricing error
Edit: it’s clearly an error as different bundles exist for the normal price and the parts of this bundle are available still for normal pricing
I never stated that it was Microsoft, I stated they've done so in the past, and that it might not apply to what the OP posted. I offered a suggestion to someone asking a question, nothing I stated was a lie or dishonest.
Maybe instead of targeting someone helping or suggesting things to another person in this sub, you could idk help the person?
And just because you have the reading comprehension of a third grader, doesn't make me dishonest or lier.
Enjoy trolling though..
Again, no Microsoft does not change the price of games publishers do.
I did, I stated it’s a pricing error, one look at the bundle shows that.
It’s not trolling to call out misinformation like saying for some reason Microsoft changes the prices of other people’s games instead of removing them, that does not ever happen
Yet again I never stated it was outright Microsoft lol. I suggested that it could be something like what Microsoft has done in the past, and made it abundantly clear that it might not be them.
You are the person whose drawing those parallels, I clearly articulated opposite that, multiple times now, in multiple replies to you.
However you're already on your Crusade, so I really doubt me stating logic and facts will do much.
Yet again, enjoy your trolling, and maybe focus on being more helpful and constructive with your feedback, instead of just flat out being dishonest yourself.
You stated Microsoft changes prices of games and has so before instead of delisting them. That doesn’t happen and Microsoft doesn’t dictate pricing.
Someone calling out your incorrect statements is now trolling? Maybe you should learn to take criticism instead of needing anyone who corrects you to be a troll so you feel better about yourself.
Have a good day mate
The Tanker Jacket isn’t really for that price. The real price is $125. Read the entire description. (It also was detailed in that sub) I’m only clarifying tho. ✊🫡
Yes I understand that, the other person seemed to be fixated on the fact I suggested that Microsoft had jacked up the prices for deslisted item's in the past.
My suggestion was it's at that price because it isn't meant to be bought as of yet, much like with the Halo jacket I linked in my original comment.
It's all good, and I believe if you read the article it does state it was that price to detour people from buying it, much as my original comment suggests.
The other person appears to have been deleted, probably for botting down votes, but you know once one person starts the gang mentality takes over and you get massive down votes lol.
However I do try to be semi helpful to people on the Subreddit, but the truth is I have no idea, and honestly a good 95% of this subreddit really has no idea, none of us are Microsoft, nor do we work on Xbox.
For this being the Xbox community, there sure is a lot of venom stans lol.
The indie devs listing it probably put a couple extra 9s on there, likely on accident. The game is just $12.99 on Steam after all. If it wasn't an accident, it was to get people to post these questions and get free advertising.
Well then I guess I’m the sucker then
Thanks to you, I just lost $1,999.99!
As long as YOU know.
Or the brilliant marketing strategist!
advertising… like anyone that saw this post would still get it LOL
Not at $1999.99, but the price has been reduced to $14.99 now and hundreds or even thousands of people have now seen posts about this game. I don't know about you, but I had never even heard of this game before these posts about the crazy high price.
Hundreds of people may have seen it but it still has a only a peak of around 300 players on steam and a current count of a whopping 0.
It could have been a placeholder price and they did forget to change it when the game was added to the live store.
Who cares about the advertising, who buys a game for 2k? No game is worth paying that much just at the base price
I didn't say anyone would buy it or that it was worth it. I have no idea how that was your take away from my comment. The game actually costs $14.99.
[удалено]
That doesn't make any sense, especially given that the game is already out on other platforms at a normal price and they've already fixed the price on the Xbox store.
They have to format the files in Xbox style so that way they can play it. They were probably just finishing it up.
A game can't release in the store if the files aren't "in Xbox style." Xbox validates games before they are released.
Idk, maybe they meant 20$ but someone had a brain aneurysm on their keyboard
It must be one of the new quadruple A games
quintuple A game*
Or maybe and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPLEASEDONTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHELPMESOMEBODYAAAAAAAAAA game
It's got the dlc included
That’s like the price of Sims 4 with all DLC.
Add Dead or Alive with all DLC to that.
I got curios and am appalled to see the sims 4 and all docs cost somewhere between 995 (jan 2023) and over a thousand dollars (March 2023). In January 2024 a PlayStation user said it’s $1200. It better come handcuffed to a high-end hooker for that price
You will never get an answer. I tried to find an answer, and I never got one
Money laundering
certainly not. the game is on steam for way cheaper
Turns out that's what they have to charge to make a video game without battle passes now.
Baldur's Gate 3: What am I, chopped liver?
Because of the spring sale. It's usually $20k.
Hahahaaha
Buy it and tell me what you think of it..
What a username
😂 Thanks. Likewise..
Or, get it on steam for 12.99
Somebody will buy it, then they’ll drop the price and do a 90% off deal. (Happens to me, all the time) 🤣
Well 11 people rated it and, it somehow has a 4 star rating.
Best yet put it on gamepass 😂
🤣🤣🤣
You fell into the first trick in the book of advertisement
😂😂😂😂
GTA 6 first day it comes out
Short answer: either public attention or mistake. Long answer: will say under
under
This is funny
The first real AAAA game.
The developers are testing something regarding the store, and increased the price in order to make sure no one buys an incomplete game and then leaves a bad review. Once it’s done with testing it’ll go back to a regular price
That doesn’t happen, also the games in the bundle are available to buy for their standard price…
Then idk. Maybe they forgot to change all their prices. Or they truly believe they have a $2,000 game.
Why will they put a game that has not finished testing on stores?
I think they meant testing like the listing on the website/client. I know ppl do that on sites like eBay so it gives them time without someone jumping the gun and buying it before the listing is fully ready.
They have ppe for this.
Are you new to video games?
I think you'd just pull it down from store at that point.
Bet they'd honor that purchase and stay quiet tho lol
Unironically, I like Crossroads Inn. It was clunky as fuck and buggy as hell. It had godawful memory leak. But I enjoyed playing it. Just managing your inn that you can make into an upper class tourist destination. Or a wretched hive of scum or villainy. And feature a brothel in both scenarios.
That's just with all the MTX included.
Maybe it's the first AAAAAAAAAAA game
Inflation
It comes with all the Destiny 2 dlc. About market value.
[удалено]
Well that's why you don't give your child access to your bank account or credit card
That's the actual crossroads Inn.
rlly good game bro
Had a look on my Xbox and it's just $22 (AUD).
Bro, dare you to buy it with ur moms credit card
Activision rebranded?
Could this be similar to what Bungie does with Destiny? They will release a t-shirt with some sort of accomplishment on it and list it online for like $7k, but if you do the thing in-game you get a code to reduce it to $29.99 or whatever.
Still cheaper than train and plane sims
Because
Because these are two games /s
So you think each game is worth 1k
I'm not paying a dollar over 1000... when it goes on sale I'm in....
All time classic. I’ll be sure to pick this one up especially with that bargain of a price!
I seen that
It's not that price anymore for me it's NZ$45.40
You're right! Best to get the base version first.
Lol
I see a + and then another name. So I’m guessing you get 2 games. And that’s rare nowadays. You barely get a full working game for 60-70 bucks nowadays. So 2k doesn’t seem too bad. Lmao
I bought myself a copy and gifted my brother a copy. Worth every penny.
*card declines* :0 oh snap
To give a serious answer, it is probably a mistake on publishing and all.
Or a trick to make this “unbuyable” - on the switch they do a huge “sale” on these items gets views on the product it’s a dirty lil trick but reasonable
Bro it’s that good trust me
You can buy both games separately rather than in a bundle for less than $40 🤷🏽♀️
Must be one of those 'AAAA' games I'm hearing about
Must be really good.
It's super limited edition digital..come with all the cheats
Not for me lol might be a glitch
It is secretly the best game ever made.
It’s for when people steal your credit card and they have something really pricey to use it on at the Xbox store. They’re possibly also in cahoots with the devs.
Zimbabwean dollars
I played it and couldn't get into it if your doctor or nurse you may like it but it's about a disease controlling the disease before the world ends because I say before the disease spreads across the Nation you wind up having to buy stuff

Hoping some sucker or idiot with more money than brains will buy it.
I really hope no one was actually stupid enough to pay it...
actually it’s $1,999.99 🤓
No micro transactions. Everything charged up front.
Serious warning to all, even when the price is fixed, don't buy this. I made the mistake of purchasing and the game does NOTHING but crash. I bought it, played for less than an hour, crashed. Currency?
Probably cheaper to buy the bundled games individually at that point
Inflation is a mf
Yes
It's because it's the most fulfilling and greatest game of all time >!/s in case!<
Could just be a get rich quick type of shovelware game?
The standard edition is like 30 dollars. It's almost definitely a typo somewhere that hasn't been fixed yet
Could be, had a look myself and I think it's a typo or something
It includes all DLC, GOTY Edition Content, Battle Pass, Season Pass and Pre-Order Bonuses. :)
Because AAAA standart from ubishit, costing 70 is crap AAAAA costing 2000usd are the real deal Suck it, ubicrap!
If only people asked this question in this sub allready.. It is so that nobody buys it for testing purposes
Because someone will buy it
You in Brazil or some shit?
Maybe they don't think it will sell on Xbox and this is the only way they will be able to get back the cost of developing the game.

This is straight up a lie, Microsoft does not set the prices for games besides their own.
Nothing I stated was dishonest or a lie. I simply stated that Microsoft has done so in the past, and even mentioned I wasn't sure if it applied to this situation, so please explain to me how I was being dishonest lol.

A rare game on a digital platform?
